They don't look too bad from the picture, mine is similar because when I first opened the back I didn't realise the screws didn't actually come out (kek) so I sat there loosening them for like an hour. That's the "don't downgrade below 6.x" thing. 4.x system settings doesn't recognize that the 2DS exists and will ask you to turn the 3D slider up. Going to 9.2 with Old3DS files is just fine, I've done it twice.

Followed this guide to upgrading my SD to 64GB.

I allocated the entire disc space to the nand partition after transfering my old SD card, i could boot into emunand once, even though i was unable to launch bigbluemenu through the home screen. I ultimately crashed trying to convert a CIA through FBI (I couldn't return by pressing home)
Now booting into rxtools gets me stuck on the yellow screen when turning on the console.

I'm gonna start over again tomorrow, is there anything i didn't take account of?

There is, however, a chance of softbricking, where the only way to recover is to boot into recovery mode and having to update to 10.4 and join the NEVER EVER club. Before you get a bigger sd card, if you really want to attempt the downgrade first, do that before purchasing an sd card. If you softbrick, you'll be stuck on 10.4 and have no use for the sd card until 10.4 exploits are discovered.

That said, I use a 64gb sd since it was only $20. I don't think I will be able to use it all, but it's a nice leeway to have. You could probably find it cheaper though or settle with 32gb even.

Cart updates don't include the web browser/eShop/NVer at all (except 9.9+ which include a dummy browser). *hax 2.5 doesn't seem to rely on a web browser anymore, which is good, but it needs a 9.0+ system to work. You'd need to buy one of the rare few games with a 9.0-9.2 cart update and go from HBL to CFW.

It's probably easier to just buy a new Old 3DS instead of bothering to update it if it's that fucked.
