So my pawn is a Ranger, and I'm a Mystic Knight. I read that Pawns learn better if they see the player do something themselves, so I was considering two things.

I was thinking of switching to Magic Archer and trying to show him things that way. Will that work or do I have to specifically be a Ranger like he is?

It's an 8:3 ratio of magic to strength. Even if it does 75% of the dark damage to Ur, it's still hitting 3-5 times with that the extra physical.
It can increase you damage a shit ton, which you can see since two swings to stagger went to six. That's triple damage.
On top of that, it doesn't matter if you do 20 - 30% because that'll go over the damage limit and the server won't update.
And Great Cannon spam is boring to be desu senpai.

There's not really anything wrong with High Anodyne/Spellscreen but Medicant primary can be annoying.

Your pawn will tend to cast healing spells in the middle of a battle. If you flip those and put Utilitarian first then they'll cast enchantments/buffs more often instead of wasting their time healing tiny slivers of health.

What augments are a must have for a physical based class? I've got:

Fighter
Sinew - Increases the weight that you can carry by 20kg, and increases the weight needed to go from all weight burden categories up to the next.
Vehemence - Strength is increased by 1.1 times.

Strider
Endurance - Increases your maximum stamina by 100.
Arm-Strength - Halves the Stamina consumed when you cling to objects or climb terrain or monsters.

Warrior
Ferocity - Increases damage dealt from your Core Skills by 10%.
Temerity - Halves the damage taken while charging an attack.
Impact - Improves your ability to knock down opponents with physical attacks.
Clout - Increases Strength by 20%.
Proficiency - Reduces the Stamina consumed when you perform a physical weapon-skill by 25%. Does not affect bows.

I figure Sinew, Vehemence, Ferocity and Clout are must haves. What should my other 2 be? did I miss any?

I fucking love Anguish dude, but climbing attacks without Hundred Kisses or Dire Gouge are bland and boring to me.
To each its own, the feeling of scoring a perfect block while positioned to rain death with your cannon is still great to me.
Maybe because I don't use the easier blocking augment.

And how exactly do I flip them? I used an Elixir to get Utilitarian, but couldn't figure out how to replace the main.

Also my pawn doesn't seem to really heal until 50% life in combat, or any amount out of combat. It's also pretty good about positioning right now, and doesn't stack attacks while certain effects are in place. (casted high ingle on head, then just used blasts)

I'm an assassin and I got a Sorceror to even me out so I have some magic.

However, I've noticed that he's copying me by getting near enemies and grabbing them and shit a sorceror should not be doing.

I'm considering changing him into a strider even though he's had about 27 levels as a Mage/Sorceror.

Should I switch him to Strider or should I keep him as a sorceror?

If I should keep him as a sorceror, how do I fix him without playing as a sorceror myself?

Bastion is pretty nice, you should have it unlocked since you have Warrior. The rest depends on which physical class you're using. If you're an Assassin I'd definitely say grab Proficiency for Kisses/Gouge spam.

I've got my Arisen wearing Mercedes armor for funsies until I can get some decent Knightly armor, but I was thinking I might put it on my Pawn when I rest at Inns to make her more appealing. Ignore that she's a Warrior, she's only one for muh Clout and then it's back to Fighter.

What do you think, which one looks better? Would you rather hire an Amazon or a Knight?

If you're in BBI, that's to be expected since there's a ton of instant kills that can't be saved, be it Brine, pitfalls, Death or Exequy from Liches and Maneaters.

If you're around lvl 30, then some people will hire your pawn to Soulflayer Canyon, and that's pretty much suicide canyon for pawns

Sounds like you don't want to be a MK, and this is a stupid fucking question. Sorcerer/Mage gain 5/4 Matk per level. Warrior/Fighter gain 2, Strider/Ranger gain 3. Add on to that you won't have Articulacy (rank 9 Sorcerer Augment) that reduces your cast times.

I mean, I'm not part of the min/max crowd who thinks you have to go 190 levels in Sorcerer, but yeah that's going to be a shitty MK. Besides, if you think Sorcerer/Mage is boring due to cast times you'll probably find MK boring too because you do an awful lot of casting for the really awesome skills.

They can be useful. Lassitude can make a world of a difference. Miasma can be good damage. Petrify is debatable, but I've managed to petrify a few eliminators before. One thing that would make them very effective is wearing the adept hat, the wide-brimmed pointy wizard hat, as it lets the clouds linger for longer. What I find they're most useful for is rusted staves, since they turn the clouds into guaranteed torpor zones over a reasonable area. They're much faster than nukes, too.
