Darkest Dungeon Soundtrack
Previous thread: >>128884383
>Tfw love the last dungeon and the atmosphere when all the players are racing in beating it.
>Tfw having problems with veteran quests so no lvl 6s yet and probably never.
>browse the /v/ thread for this
>filled with theories that actually have sense
>recruit Briar Patch
>She has Nyphomania
>But is not allowed in the brothel.
Are there any other special hero names?
How do you all gain so much money!? I am poor as fuck all the time and I didn't just start playing today. Been playing for a week or two. Always broke as fuck.
Knowing what items to use on what curios will help a lot.
Also general knowledge of the game and level 0 sacrifice.
Focusing stress damage dealers help a lot too,and so do stunning. Try to get an arbalest and a Houndmaster.
the game is definitely about snowballing.
you either make enough money to guarantee a well equipped, upgraded, stressless team everytime, or you'll be broke forever.
how to fix it? run some level 1 dungeons with a level 0 suicide squad without overbuying provisions. upgrade price reduction of town stuff so you'll be more efficient in the long run.
They got pre locked in stat and skills.
Aw yiss, just beat Collector with random team on like 3rd or 4th week
Got gem/crystal/TRAPEZOHEDRON thing
Just fought my first Shambler.
BROUGHT LOW, INTO THE MUD.
>All this creepy eldritch shit that's been added in the full release
Can't wait to play it.
Does having a Virtue heal you from Death's Door or is that just an Abom benefit?
Dude was just a death's door, growled a bit, and healed
Is the Abomination good? What is a good hero to have to compliment him to offset the added stress of his transformation/the fact pious heroes won't go with him?
Jester - Occult - Abom - Abom
Full on powerhouse squad.
>Ocultist heal for a total of 8 HP in 4 rounds
>My Hellion gets critted and death's door with "the finger" and then finished with the bleed
>The first darkest Dungeon boss can resummon the cultist
Team wipe is a bitter feel. Also RIP trinkets.
You have to clear the Darkest Dungeon 4 times.
As soon as you clear it the first time - the partial eclipse happens.
With each cleared dungeon - the eclipse progresses.
When the full eclipse happens - the last boss comes.
Fucking hell. I guess he had it coming though.
Thoughts on release version, Anon? I played a torrented copy pre-cove, I enjoyed the art style and the music but the gameplay got repetitive. The Steam reviews and discussion board are scaring me, is DD crap tier now?
It's not crap, but nothing's really been done to fix the repetition. At first, I hated the corpse changes, but the possibility of heart attacks only really comes on really fucked up runs, and corpses can often play into your hands with all the ways you have to manipulate them.
I lost my first fight against him since I didn't know what it was, but when i fought it my second time, I got the +25% virtuous chance trinket
and then got a full party wipe when i thought I could finish the quest
It's just frustraiting how Red Hook nerfs everything, with every patch your dudes are weaker and weaker, and your strategies might not be viable anymore.
However if you love the art and atmosphere, then it just got way better with today's release.
With how valuable Prot% dropping can be against higher-tier enemies, it's a very useful skill. I am disappointed though the Leper didn't get a similar skill or any changes at all really with this patch since it would really improve the Leper as a character to me personally. Some of these other patch notes baffle me however.
>Lowered crit chance by 5%
>Removed ability to use in rank 2
>Lowered base crit chance by ~2.5% per tier of Man-at-Arms
For what purpose?
He was fairly overpowered, bro. With very little damage up trinkets, I had my abomination dealing up to 40 damage by himself. He's still pretty good too, rake was a nice skill but his other attacks are just as brutal.
Special In Game Item: Crest of the 1100
Finally, a special reward to all of you for backing. In game, you can claim an item called the "Crest of the 1100". This item will help you endure the stresses of the underdark. To obtain this trinket:
1. Enter the Hamlet in game
2. Open your Trinket Inventory
3. Press ENTER
4. Type "Crest of the 1100" without the quotes
5. Press ENTER again
6. The trinket will be in your inventory!
Never midn it's up again. Doesn't mix much, just some audio thing, glitchy text in the settings and language fix.
Is it scummy to use that trinket selling gold glitch?
This game is really fun. I've started really getting into it today and it's hard but manageable. Thing is, my last expedition was really, really bad and Dismas died and the 3 guys with him went insane and fled. Question is, should I just fire the insane guys? They're only level 0 and I'm not sure if they're worth the time needed to heal them. There's a replacement Occultist, Highwayman (both already hired) and Arbalest available in the caravan.
>Go into first mission in the dankest dungeon.
>Vestal, PD, Leper, Hellion
I don't have any excuses.
>Hellion hits 100 stress early on, went vigorous.
>Room before the boss, Vestal goes fearful.
>Get to boss, feeling lucky.
>Get it down to half health.
>Vestal skips three turns in a row, PD goes masochistic.
>Leper dies to bleed damage after Vestal skips three turns in a row, PD isn't taking heals.
>Hellion is healing herself, bleeds the boss down to 30~ health.
>Vestal and PD have a heart attack at the same time and die.
>Hellion gets boss down to 10 health and dies.
The fun is back, I haven't actually had problems in champion dungeons for so long I'd forgotten how tense it can get.
>open old save
>"where's Dismas, where's Reynauld"
I may have fired both of them
Post your Legends that have died in line of duty.
This suspicious son of a bitch.
>covered laughter in the graveyard
>creepy smile when buying provisions
>that split second of him as a horrific monster
Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer.
>raising the price then putting it on "sale" at the original price
this is the most scumbag shit ever
Don't worry about a few deaths if they're low level and you haven't invested much money in them.
Focus on upgrading the Hamlet early on above all else, Hamlet upgrades never go away and so long as you make progress on that with enough gold for adventuring you're doing good.
>Finally make your perfect group
>Can blaze through veteran quests
>Load up game and see your save file gone
I don't even know if its worth restarting
You can do it anon, make it even better than the previous one.
>If it bleeds nerfs
Hellion officially shit tier
>all these pointless nerfs to make characters even worse
This team worked surprisingly well. Arbalest bandage plus healing specialist built vestal healed a lot of HP.
upgrade stagecoach ASAP
don't get too attached to anyone
there is no shame in retreat
you can send a scouting party to learn what a area or boss is like before you go in with your A team
Post party comps
I've just been doing Railgun and 3Hellion up til this point but I don't think that's gonna fly now
Plus I want to actually use all types of heroes for this run
they nerfed his rake damage and his stress heal upon shifting, hardly anything important.
basically, it means you cant run abom without a destresser anymore. both jester and hound master work wonders at removing party stress.
For the first stage of the darkest dungeon, I took
Grave Robber / Occultist / Bounty Hunter / Crusader
Grave Robber : Lunge, knife toss, fade away, poison dart
Occultist: tentacle pull, damage debuff, mark, and heal
Bounty Hunter: Collect bounty, finish him, stun bomb, mark
Crusader: heal, stress heal, melee attack, and either stunning attack or holy lance.
It managed to withstand the first level of the darkest dungeon.
You can change the appearance of your heroes. Go to their character info, look at the bottom left. You can click on the little number there to cycle though 4 variations of the character.
Just ran into my first collector. Let's see how this goes.
The vestal. I usually had the houndmaster guard her, so she wouldn't be hit by revelation, but the scorpion guys only tried to attack her once or twice with it.
What happens if you don't have the torch when hit with revelation?
>Phuh. He can be changed to be normal then.
It wouldn't make sense for my guy to be white though. Since he's a former police officer, I named him "Zimmerman."
Executed with impunity.
i fled from the darkest dungeon, reynauld hade to take the blow. daily reminder reminder that overconfidence is a slow and incidous killer
>refuse to buff the Leper
this pisses me off so much
That was fucking disappointing, basically a THE RIDE NEVER ENDS shit
>The fuck is that skull?
It shows that a character was on death's door, but got off of it. It gives a minor debuff.
If you're on death's door with zero HP, the skull is read instead.
Just finished the 2nd dungeon, going to figure out a team to do the 3rd.
I think I encountered a bug, I succeeded in the second assault, but the dialogue isn't unlocked. And the 1st assault is no longer checked off in the caretaker goals, but the 2nd is.
Holy crap there are more kickstarter characters than I thought there were. For those who give a damn, here are the first eleven characters I've found (well, 8 + 3 found by other anons)
Brair Patch (Plague Doc, made by /v/)
Matthias Winfield (Crusader, minmaxed by /tg/)
Jacque Ripper (Leper)
BEAN (Man at Arms)
JRod (Highwayman, backer named John Rodriguez, paragon of creativity)
Tyr(Crusader, got Fated and Calm)
Aya (Plague Doctor)
Will slug through the rest after sleep.
you lock away the ancient evil, but since it can't be destroyed, you need to stay there and guard it.
You can't handle the stress, and kill yourself after sending a letter to another descendant.
>LOL U CANT RELLY BET DUH EVIL
How very boring.
M-maybe there's a "true ending" for beating it on a New Game Plus?
Running short on guys, will probably have to train some more guys after this run, assuming they survive.
It's like the quests where you purify something. You got three things, and got to use it on 3 things in the dungeon. Once you give the hand candles to all the alters, your quest is done.
Oh man, this is gay.
The game had a bug, where it forgot I did the first mission after I did the second mission, so now I have to do it over.
First level 3 dungeon of this run. Went really smoothly given there was a fight in almost every room as well as a collector.
*lips fall off*
HOL THE FUCK UP
*gets lost visiting brothel*
U BE SAYIN'
*chops bone conscript*
AYOOOO WHAT U BE SAYIN' IS
THAT I CAN LIKE GET SUM
*equips accuracy stone*
THAT I CAN GET SUM O DAT FINE
*lets mask down*
THAT I CAN GET SOM O DAT FINE PLAGUE DOCTOR PUSSYYYYYYYY
This might sound stupid but I would love to see a glimpse of the future . Like every one of the next ancestor guarding till death/suicide. Until the future or modern time. I wonder how that would work
Hey, how come the game isn't on sale anymore?
An hour ago it was like 19$, and it said on steam that the offer would last til February 2nd. Now it's 24$... What happened?
I kinda want to buy it now, but still want to enjoy the offer.
Yeah, just make you actually fail no matter what you do. If you're gonna end your movie like a cheap horror movie with 'but the evil couldn't be stopped' then just do away with the pretense and make it win.
I just wanted to know why the humans just don't go into the warrens and exterminate the pigman. If they all live in the warrens
>Reynault steals 2500 gold and really good trinket
There was an email from the DD team not too long ago. The custom trinkets are not in this patch. They will be in the next one.
When it goes live you can open your trinket inv and press enter just as you would to hire the special backer heroes, enter the name and get that free trinket.
Special backer trinket: Crest of the 1100
4chan's custom trinket: Lewd Vial
huh i thought it was showing another part of the original letter the ancestor sends you
Whoever guessed, was right. He has a few attacks, and became corrupted and has tentacle legs. His heart is also a monster of some kind
>miss 1 AoE attack or don't do enough damage and your asshole gets ravaged
So now that we know the NG is an endless cycle thin again, what's the failstate for NG+? Would that mean it has a bad ending as well? Pic related is the background I found.
Players must use the DD Strict gameplay options, tougher monsters, and two extra criteria: Complete the game in 91 Weeks with less than 13 deaths. Failure to do so and players will be greeted with a game over, and a deleted save.
>Turns out the Hag now looks like this
>Tentacle Cultist sorceress turns out to be even hotter in Meat Vision.
Huh, maybe turning into the final boss isn't so bad after all.
Kinda want to name my estate The "Brouzouf" Estate, but I kind of want my first full release playthrough to be named something lore friendly. Anybody got any ideas?
>not having 'The worst Estate'
baka desu senpai
The Sanitarium can remove quirks and diseases, for stuff like "Hopeless/Paranoid/etc." you just have to put them in some kind of therapy to reduce their stress (bar/gambling/prayer/self-flagellation/etc.)
Go into the Stagecoach menu and hit enter, then when the thing pops up type in their name and hit enter
So the ending is that Humanity is literally cancer and you shoot yourself to free your soul from the eldritch flesh. You then have to guide your descendants (or really any humans at this point) to give the Eldritch Diety periodic heart attacks to keep it in a Coma until humanity won't go nuts gazing at their true form
>medium dungeon without healer
this is so stressful help
You know what this game reminds me of? XCOM.
>More luck based then a slot machine
>Almost impossible to reach the end without cheating/mods
>Pretty much hell on earth to complete, even with dozens of hours of grinding done, and even then, the AI can just simply fuck you over once and you have to replay the entire game
>Its more predetermined then WWE
X-COM, even TFTD in Superhuman, is MUCH more manageable than Darkest Dungeon.
If you want to, you can just grind Disruptor Pulse Launchers(or Blaster Launchers in the original) give one to everyone(making sure your squad is psi resistant) and then just nuke the final level in one turn.
In this game, no matter how much you grind the RNG can just shit all over your face.
In X-COM avoiding damage is also easier since you can just hide a character out of the line of fire. No such thing in Darkest Dungeon.
Also, a total squad wipe in X-COM is barely a hindrance, since the distinction between a veteran and a rookie isn't that big and you're hardly strapped for cash after a few weeks. X-COM also requires a lot less grind, you can beat it comfortably in ~20 missions while Darkest Dungeon requires at least 73.
Now if you're talking about the new x-com,
I agree fuck that game
>he doesn't have +acc buffs and trinkets on his Leper.
Three 0 resolve nobodies gave their lives for this
Worth every death
>Plague Doctor goes paranoid in DD
>stuck in rank 3
>le ebin shuffle move from shuffler boss
>hellion in rank 4
>move her to rank 3
>"I'll keep you where I can see you"
>hellion is essentially trapped, can do nothing but end the turn
>PD refuses heals
>pd refuses to bandage herself
>PD keeps everyone from going to their optimal positions
honestly, when she died I was fucking glad that happened, eat shit in hell Crow the Blind, eat shit
>those everything nerfs
the only classes that weren't nerfed were classes that were shit already
>those trinket nerfs
>those camping nerfs
>"we'll buff the leper later I swear"
fucking Red Hook and their Tsar Bomba approach to balancing
I can see limiting the number of fights the buffs last for making sense. I was really surprised to see that they lasted "Until next camp" what with how strong they were. I could really see how one could abuse that, and I suppose people did.
To me it makes it feel more like a "We're halfway there, better stop to rest" than it was before.
>tfw just did medium boss dungeon with no healer and lost my bounty hunter with only one hit left needed to win
fucking somehow forgot i wasn't in a short dungeon and didn't bring enough torches and food
and then there were literally more battles than i generally see in 2-3 dungeons combined
I did a bunch, but I want to play some more. This is where I stopped.
You can only recruit like 20 or so at the maximum, then no more will come. You just hit Enter and type the hero's name in at the Stagecoach.
>awww yis release update
>time to go beat in necromancer's face with mighty HOLY LANCE
>vestal, plague doctor, crusader, crusader
>get in dungeon, realize holy lance has been nerfed to position 3 and 4 only
Well shit. RIP in pieces doctor.
Just how important is SPEED? I have no idea how to rate it as a stat.. For example, I have that leper beserk mask and I always wonder.. how good is it? Its a orange item so it must be decent right?
But is 3 crit and 3 speed worth? it lowers his chance to virtue and lowers the amount of healing gotten.
How important is speed?! Also, how the fuck does anyone play this game with NO HEALER in their ranks? SOme classes can't heal at all. Or.. if you don't run a healer, do you just run a bunch of CC?
>Also, how the fuck does anyone play this game with NO HEALER in their ranks?
It's possible with speed. You'll kill everything/stun everything before the enemy can badly hurt you.
Holy shit.. I am never going to try Cove again without at least ONE blight class.
Never fucking again. That area is so POO without blight. I didn't realize how important blight is for that area until I said "I should be fine without the plague doctor"
FAMOUS LAST WORDS.
One of my off Teams is a PG, Arbalest, BH, Crusader. the off healing from the arb and Crusader was enough to carry me through a couple medium dungeons, but I sure as hell wouldn't attempt a long one.
It's best to upgrade the Blacksmith and Guilds first right? Nothings changed about that?
> Tfw you have a specific party in mind and you NEVER get the members required from the stagecoach.
I don't understand why you people use suicide squads. A fucking short dungeon can be beaten by almost any fucking combination of level 0 heroes without trinkets, and you get much more back then you spent on them for completing.
Speed is great, if your entire team acts first then you can eliminate a threat or two before they get a turn to react.
Think about it this way: if everyone's speed was infinite, then every turn would be like a SURPRISE! turn. Of course that's an exaggeration, but it's very helpful. Helpful enough that the Legendary Bracer is a piece of shit because of it.
Anyone else LIKE going into the warrens. Fighting pig men is fun and I like being able to use the hound master effectively and bleeding pigs is good. SOme say the diseases in that area make it not worth going to.
Also, does anyone else not even bother touching the curious that have strange happen? Like why would I ever touch this board with fucking knives in it? WHY THE FUCK WOULD I TOUCH THE SKIN STRETCHED BETWEEN TWO STICKS WITH ELDRITCH MARKS ON IT?!
I would much rather just touch this old crate with some basic loot in it. I haven't used the wiki but I know some curious can have a item used on it but the knife board in the warrens and skulls shrine have only ever been bad for me.
Also, what does the blood thirsty negative quirk do?
>Anyone else LIKE going into the warrens
Wait.. THREE SHOVELS?! For what purpose? 2 is fine.
This is true. The even better part is that pig men double as humans AND beasts. So if you bring a bounty hunter... does that mean its animal brutality or.. HUMAN BRUTALITY.
The next run was very stressful for my party
I think the recent deaths had them on edge
hit enter while in the stagecoach and type the name into the box
are any of them particularly good like the /tg/ mathias?
kinda neat to be able to summon any class in a pinch
once they die you cant call them again right?
the melee fungus isn't very deadly without the artillery fungus, PD can stun both the artillery and has a bleed
BH can pull the artillery or knock the melee fungus back and fuck them up if they are marked
anything specific that gives you trouble?
a rock probably fell on someone
>first time getting ambushed while sleeping
>also my first time fighting in darkness
That was rough.
Is there much use in Stunning Blow for the Crusader? I feel like a stun is only good if you know you can get it out quickly, but the Croosahdore is almost always going to go somewhere close to last.
I'd much rather throw Battle Heal/Inspiring Cry there, but maybe I'm just being close minded.
There much value in stunning blow?
thank you for your valuable input. since the game is new and has room for improvment, we really do appreciate your comment regarding the game to improve ourselves and our product.
also please do not hesitate to write your comments on our forums or subrettit
It stops whoever you're stunning from attacking next round. It's really nice to have if you're going against one of the larger enemies like a ghoul or someone who does stress damage like the madman.
you actually have to wait until the 4th DD quest to get that
if you send them in early and they survive they refuse to go back in
Fair enough. I think I've always undervalued stuns. I love my debuffs, bleeds and blights but I always ignored stuns.
Now I can't decide if I want Inspiring Cry or Battle Heal. I love them both.
This is what happens when I face him usually.
instead of healing damage you can prevent it while dealing damage at the same time with a stun
its one of the best skills he has
same with the vestal sometimes its better to stun the guy instead of healing just to be hit again
you're a very smart man huh
what does the red ribbon thing next to the character mean?
Abom is strong. I imagine that the other guys just freak out since, well, it'd probably be pretty gruesome to see a guy transform like that.
It means that their spot in the Embark screen is saved, so you don't have to place them again if you returned to the town screen, or something.
so I'm sure it's in the wiki somewhere but everything I try searching comes up with nothing or maybe I'm just clueless as fuck. I saw you can do the "input hero name" thing to get some heroes which seems almost like cheating with how easy it makes getting a certain character, but what's the deal with that? Is it considered cheating by the game or is this some kind of special backer thing where certain names got into the game?
Kind of easy to see which hero is the most popular, lol.
Must suck to be an Arbalest fan, she gets so little love, but she is pretty good in a mark team or with a vestal.
Occultist is my fav, I hope his origin comic is good.
The warrens might be good with you take a Grave Robber and Plague doctor.
>go to Warrens
>camp and use PD and GR to remove your parties diseases.
How the fuck do you beat all three templars fights. I've lost 9 guys and the furthest I've gotten has been me getting my asshole blasted on the third edge scorpion. Fuck these assholes I'd rather fight three shamblers.
>mfw fucking trinket, camping and crusader nerfs
Did you equip your heroes with those weird torch things you get from the Crawling Chaos?
If the templar hits someone with the torch, his revelation will do much less damage.
For these dungeons, always try to bring as many anti-venoms and badages as you can. Especially bandages, most of the monsters I've seen like to bleed.
What team did you use? This is the team I used and I got though it without any losses.
Why use highwayman and abom?
Highwayman seems like BH with less utility, HP, and damage penalties on almost all his attacks.
Abom's transform attacks have the same crit, dmg, and acc of any other class' basic melee attack. But his stresses out the party.
On paper they just seem like shit to me.
Yea I actually found a bug where I get 4 of the damn things but I used an Vestal, GR MAA/Crusader and then an Arby, Occultist, HM and hellion and I got past the first two but got assblasted by the third one (the one with the bat things)
I equiped one on one of my heros then did a veteran quest and three of them spawned. Idk if you can get an unlimited number by equiping them to the guys in your stagecoach because I haven't tried. Been too busy getting railed by scorpions
where is the information supposed to be listed then?
There's nothing in the log or the character sheet. mousing over doesn't reveal anything about status.
god damn this game is so much fun, dunno why i was having trouble getting into it before it left early-access
is there anything else like it or would you call it the best of it's strange genre?
was this game really that unbalanced before it left early-access or were things changed today? i haven't been bullshitted by the dice at all to my understanding, everything has felt fair and part of the learning process or my own fault.
are people just bad at video games?
>>are people just bad at video games?
mostly but a few bad crits or a surprise shuffle can still snowball into a very bad situation fast
whle in the stagecoach menu hit enter and you should be able to enter a name in
So last time I played this was about a year ago with the ridiculous team of occultist, bh, bh, hellion. I want to play again with some of the new classes. I was thinking occultist,??, abomination, man at arms. Who should I toss in the last slot?
Any huge buffs, nerfs, or changes over the last few months? Any tldrs?
>I get that, but this shit feels like I'm cheating if I can just grab whatever classes whenever.
Most of them aren't any better than the generic units you get off the wagon, so it's not like it's giving you a huge edge in the game or anything.
Besides, it can't be cheating if the devs put it in there themselves. You might as well think camping or using supplies on curios is cheating.
Once you clear a stage in the Darkest Dungeon, weird stuff starts happening. Webm related.
I think there's some degree of difference in something the devs put in without pointing out in the game and a standard mechanic. I mean typing in poweroverwhelming in starcraft 1 was put in by the devs but nigga that's a cheat.
also it really is a huge edge when it lets you choose whatever kind of team you want at any time instead of dealing with the x number of people on the wagon at a time.
New hotfix. Restart game if out of a dungeon.
More Performance Optimizations attempting to resolve Stuttering issue.
Secret Rooms no longer count towards rooms explored for 90% Explore Quest
Reduced Resolve XP Requirements for Levels 4, 5 and 6, by 4, 6, and 6 respectively. (roughly 10%)
Added 1 more available Dungeon Quest to account for Darkest Dungeon Plot Quests
I always feel bad but then if only one of them makes it I know they're the ones chosen by RNGesus
>After some much needed rest, the team will get to work on our first (free) expansion featuring Town Events, a new Hero Class, and even more goodies. Beyond that, you can look forward to even more additions, modes, and content throughout the year, as well as our official support of the modding community and their efforts to extend the Darkest Dungeon experience even further. We love our game, and we can’t wait to grow and improve it with you!
Go to stagecoach, press Enter, type in the name of the unique /v/ character ("Briar Patch" I think) hit enter again, then she'll show up in the stagecoach for you to recruit.
when you get a scouting proc, if it's a big one you have a chance to get a secret room. when it happens the first time the game has a pop up. It's like a curio on the map, only it is a star, not a book. go to the square the star is as, and pu
