Invention 101: Podcast
Taking shit and breaking down into invention materials
Parts and Components. Parts are used for small things, Components for less common large more powerful items.
Items you make with materials. Mecha-Chinchompa etc.
can put them on weapons to make them better
Give perks to Augments
Things like the Warpriest set effects are similar to perks. x% bonus to damage against monster, some silly, not all perks are positive, etc.
Before you can make some more complicated items you need to "discover" it first. Inspiration is spent unlocking these items. Found doing everyday tasks and leveling the Invention skill.
Where to start invention?
>North of Fally Lodestone, Inventors guild. Small tutorial there.
How do you train invention?
>NOT by purely disassembling items. That would be like cleaning herbs all the way to 99.
>Big chunks of xp making devices and other items.
>Uses Make X like Smithing, Crafting, etc.
>Making gizmos provides good xp. Each augment as slots for 5 parts/components.
>xp for gizmos is based off of the rarity of materials and how many you use.
>you're shown a list of potential perks that gizmo will possess (based off of the materials used) and when you make it the final ones will be chosen randomly from that list.
Augmented equipment gains levels and the perks increase as you use them in combat (Max level 10). Weapons that are leveled up provide a lot of invention xp if you decide to disassemble them. If you don't want to disassemble them you can build an item that extracts some of the built up Invention xp from them and leaving it in tact.
>Start with the "basic" tech tree
>When you reach a higher level you can choose which tech tree you want to specialize in (Dwarven or Goblin)
>Eventually you'll unlock everything. You just choose what you get first.
Friendly reminder to ignore these people :)

its not fair...
You get 100% accuracy if you use t90 and every accuracy boost in the game including scrimshaw, void, nihil, etc, but that means 1/2 damage because there is no t90 spear.
All of those with a chaotic spear gives around 90% accuracy, which you can improve to about 95+ with Quake. Unless you cheese with something like Statius Hammer spec or use Berserker aura, you won't get 100% with a chaotic spear.
fuck outta here faggot
Mfw even tetsu katanas are more likely to hit araxxor than ascensions
Even with the drop in accuracy the dps you get from range abilities is great and the damage you end up taking while in melee distance using drys is annoying for long trips.
That and you can get cheese araxxi pretty handily
>Range puts up with a stat drain negated by ovl and nothing else
>melee puts up with poison negated by antipoison, and some melee damage if not scything
>magic puts up with araxxor constantly moving into your face, a bleed you can do fuck-all about, and to top it all off araxxi is significantly tankier and can actually block attacks
Nope. There are two things I love about Runescape: the quests and the huge variety of skills.
I'm really happy to get another skill that isn't "go to [location] > afk until full inventory > run to bank > repeat until 99"
It is really up to you, senpai. Flip a coin. I'd probably like farming one just because I love farming. If you really like araxxor or other combat get that. Eventually you'll get them both
depends on what you want senpai. I'd get one t2. Range for araxxor. Also with the comment he made. Vamp/penance are very strong if you do a lot of slayer. so don't think accuracy is way better. They are WAY BETTER for bossing, but vamp/penance amazing for slayer
Link for this one if you want to upvote: https://secure.runescape.com/m=player-proposal/a=946/view-idea?idea=50218
Yeah, but for slayer vamp is completely useless if you have soul split and penance at best saves maybe 50k of prayer pots every hour, or you can be lazy and use demonhorn to never worry about prayer. I'd say overall equilibrium is a more useful slayer aura for every task except airuts, where supreme brawler is the best.
>eah, but for slayer vamp is completely useless if you have soul split
no it isn't, dawg. Plenty of tasks where it is useful. Plus a lot of low level bosses you have 100% accuracy on
>Plenty of tasks where it is useful.
None that are worth doing.
>Plus a lot of low level bosses you have 100% accuracy on
I can't think of any where this is the case but soul split also isn't enough to sustain.
Runecrafting is slow but if you do bloods you'll make good gp.
Hunting grenwalls with crystalize is easy and quick xp once you get the hang of it. If you'd rather afk then protean traps is good xp/afk
Thieving is quick and pretty afk once you can boost to dwarf traders.
Divination and Farming will slowly hit 99 from daily tree runs and Caches
>some fag joins me
>takes them 7 fucking abilities to kill a fucking gargoyle
>spends all day killing one
>takes me, legacy mode, 2 hits and a smash
>do 200 in a like 40 minutes
why is EoC better again? lmfao
What should I train now, and what do I have left that is afk-able?
so who here has officially outgrew EoC and Cosmetic overrides?
feels good playing 2011scape
afk in RS hasn't meant "away from keyboard" in a long time.
Gone are the days where you could leave your account up all night auto-attacking bandits with guthans. Even seren stones require you check on them every couple minutes
Are there any bots out there, or Services where it could Organize my bank for me?
i'm Incredibly fucking lazy.
Every tool/bot client that's capable of doing that will also keylog and/or rootkit you. Just clean your bank out yourself. If you haven't used it in a couple of years it's probably worth shoving on the GE.
>idiot starts script
>bot starts "cleaning" bank
>for a minute or two it just drops trash on the ground
>remote signals another bot to log in and meet it
>grabs valuables and trades them away
Like all scams it hinges on the victim being an inattentive idiot
I'm literally the Laziest cunt in the world, I'm debating buying an account because I want to get back into RS, but the Bank is literally pissing me off SO much, it's unbelievable.
Don't have the skills for invention, and here. Have this gif of my shitty bank.
Honestly not all that bad
Just make tabs
etc. Just set it up however you like.
Sorting that out shouldnt take longer than 15 minutes.
As for your skills just go for something like quest cape and you'll be fine
>I've had this acount for 5+ years, and not 1 99
That's not a big deal. I'm at 10+ and I only hit all 90+ a few weeks ago and only have a few 99s
>I don't plan on leveling much anymore, I just wanna get to that end-game content
You wont be able to do endgame content without 94 herb, 92 prayer, 90 Attack/Range/Magic, and 96 Summoning
And then there's "end game content" like Priff (essential in my opinion) which requires you level most of your skills 75+
Just go up through the levels and generally use the highest level things available to you. Also a lot of the medium level content is actually pretty fun, just not efficient. Giant Mole is a more fun boss than some shit like God Wars.
Quests. Just do whichever storylines you find fun.
Pirates are fun, Elves have good rewards for finishing the series, Penguins is funny old Jagex humor.
Quest combat isn't difficult and the xp rewards will help you get started on reaching higher levels
Holy fuck Chell why do you post this every thread? Do you not get enough attention in your life? Do your parents hate you or something?
You shit up the chat.
You shit up the general.
You will never have any friends.
Please kill yourself.
thats simply not the case.
Since most of the xp for invention will come from leveling augmented items up you could just pick a 'decent' weapons like verac's flail, add some bullshit perk to it, afk hellhounds, and then crush it up for 250k xp
The only times you'll need/want the best perk is for your t90s that you wont dismantle anyway
where are you getting that xp number from? I remember like a 4k xp drop from a royal crossbow gizmo in a bts vid a few months back.
go ahead, try getting into a corp team without ovls/turm or a nex team without t90 weps
Nothing. People just like to think a 5% damage boost against certain enemies will make current content impossible/not worth doing because they went from best to 'not quite best' overnight
Because Invention will increase combat effectiveness, new high level content will consider invention perks when setting difficulty. Similar to overloads, you can't high level pvm without them.
>where are you getting that xp number from?
The invention podcast that has been posted here quite a lot >>129051645
The whole podcast is worth a listen, only 26 minutes and pretty much gives you a leg up on all the people who have no idea it exists
>Do you not get enough attention in your life?
He doesn't go out at all and depends on /rsg/ to fill the void.
>Do your parents hate you or something?
They merely tolerate his presence now, all he does is stay in his room all day. He is a disappointment to them, but they figure as long as he's safe with us, let's just keep him here. They buy him whatever he needs to feed his internet anime culture addiction and keep him happy because they don't know how else to deal with a spoiled millennial brat like him.
>You shit up the chat.
>You shit up the general.
>You will never have any friends.
Not true, he does have friends, but the little friends he has are his old friends from the olden days that know how much of a bitch boy he is, others are just mostly pretending to be his friend because he's a pmod and constantly pretends to be a girl.
>Please kill yourself.
Rude. Please think about your words and how they might affect others. Sure, Chell might be an annoying attention seekers that constantly shits the chat up, but it's not his fault, he can't help it. Just ignore him and move on with your life, it's the best course of action you can take. He's suffering enough in his own miserable existence, no need to add any more.
If you have either of those you should be soloing those bosses.
>you can't high pvm without ovls
They enhance your performance. For efficiency you want enhanced bonuses at all times, but the only bosses that "require" overloads are the ones that constantly drain your stats, which is pretty much just Nex.
You can GWD, Corp, QBD, Spider, Vorago, even raid without overloads. Of course you should use overloads and most teams don't want to take a slacker, but their content doesn't actually "require" that you always have maxed bonuses.
My guess is 2018/2019
We've still got t95 and t99 equipment for them to release and the bosses/content to go with it. That's easily 2 to 3 years worth of creep longer if they keep staggering it with dual vs 2h weapons and power vs tank armor
meh?? so they introduce it and you're immediately 120 combat stats?
Like the only people that really play anymore are maxed. They are the majority now.
My gf that just started runescape actually thinks the invention skill is stupid because it is pandering to high level players and not everyone can do it
It's not just that. Immediately by raising the cap they open up room for stronger bosses and monsters.
That's not even taking into consideration things that would come later, like higher tier equipment that would take years before they reached 120-tier stuff.
jagex shouldn't make content incentivising the rush to high levels in the first place
skillcapes shouldn't have existed, and the absolute peak level requirement in any given skill for content should have been 85
yeah desu the peak of the game everyone was just fucking around doing what they wanted, playing minigames, pking. Now everyone is just grinding constantly.
I remember when shit like cutting magic logs for money was sweet. Now you never see anyone doing stuff like that. They really need to go back and clean up monster and boss drops like they did with runes for gathering skills
Pls no. I'm near maxed and almost 120 def, but when that happens I'm off to OSRS.
Been afking an account to all 70's on it just because of that fear.
120scape will become WoWscape, where you dont slay shit for beast weapons with interesting traits, you just ride the raidgrind for sets and dress your waifu up. Fuck that.
Players wanted progression from the beginning.Unless someone had a specialized account, they wanted the slayer level to do the best things, they wanted the combat levels to fight the strongest bosses, they wanted the best skills to do X high level activity, even for something like a fun pvp activity, they wanted to be as strong as possible.
People wouldn't have been doing mid level content that was inefficient. That's how it has always been. You had some people doing things for fun, but most people flocked to the highest options possible. The difference now is it's much easier to reach the high end content and the difference between "shit" and "good" content's efficiency is greater than before.
>the invention skill is stupid because it is pandering to high level players
Regardless its smart for them to make new skills this way.
It's a waste of their money to pay a developer to spend dozens of hours designing and testing content from levels 1-80 when a majority of Runescape's playerbase is going to blast through it immediately on the first few days and never touch it again.
Just look at divination. People rushed that the first week and most burnt out in the 80s and 90s, now all the wisp colonies are dead content because people only do caches
>People would get like 55 slayer IF THAT and call it quits
The common stopping point for slayer was 85, enough to unlock abby demons and hunt for whips. People still ground out 99 Str to make killing abbys easier though
>The common stopping point for slayer was 85
I really don't think it was, m8. Most people were mid level players that didn't even train slayer, or they would get slayer dart and just quit
>people stopped at 55
Yes, because people would instantly stop using the skill that made them money, sped up training, gave them exclusive/first access to new content, all while just killing things the way they would be doing in the first place.
People generally went for 85 before calling it quits in terms of a focus. Maybe you stopped at 55.
Are you talking about humans, or 12 year olds who had shit stats in all skills because they had a half hour a day at the library?
Slayer has always been one of the most popular skills in the game, and generally one of the highest stats a player would have that wasn't directly a combat skill, because you trained it for just for training combat.
Just saying, mate. Ii you had 85+ slayer you were in the minority back then. It wasn't as common as it is now to have the mindset slayer slayer slayer slayer.
I don't know what deluded goggles you have on looking back 10 years ago
They didn't "stop," the road was just longer. If slayer wasn't originally capped at around 30k an hour and had higher rates more suitable for children in grade school to not get bored, the stat would have been even higher on average. If you want to talk about what "most" people had it was a few combat skills and a small spattering of other skills. People with high end stats in ANY skill were a minority, because combat was more popular and more profitable. The game was sculpted by that and the difference became greater and greater.
Everyone wants combat. Combat content is popular. Fewer people do skilling. Skilling content is less popular unless overpowered. That means if Jagex wants to make "popular" content they focus on combat and overpowered skilling. They get more encouragement to do it and continue doing it until it's as insane as it is now. It has always been this way, it has only become more extreme over time because the players keep approving it.
It's hardly a documentary, just tidbits of information your own friends have told me about you, Chell. If it really weirds you out that much then just stop directing the spotlight at yourself so much. Besides, it's not like it was a doxx, I was just informing the retarded anon that you can't be blamed and people like you should be ignored rather than encouraged, nothing personal, you're just annoying.
Hey guys, Chell here.
I really like it when you all talk about me, it makes me feel validated.
Yes my name is Cody, but I am a cute girl. Cody can be a girl's name too, silly boys.
Anyway, see you gamers in chat. Looking forward to another amazing Jagex update with inventor and grinding with you gamers.
