NTR AS USUAL IS BROKEN ON 10.4, so is your homebrew payloads so you loose both NTR and Homebrew launcher 3DSX homebrew.

BUT MUH E-Shop and NNID connected shiet!
Apparently FMP (Free Multi Patcher) Works just fine if you are on 10.3 - You get your eShop to 10.4 even though Nver was updated.

Overall just stay on 10.3 for now

Assuming you are using the correct firmware for the correct model, getting the downgrade process to start is redundant but not difficult since constant reboots may be needed to get it to start. However, the downgrade method is not stable, and at any point, it can stop installing the files halfway in leaving you with an incomplete 9.2 sysNAND environment.

Normally, if anything went wrong, you would have been able to update and try again through recovery, but recovery will now place you at 10.4 where all the exploits have been patched out.

Though honestly, softbricks seem to be related to how much you've used the 3DS since ~9.6. Chances are that it's linked to having any games using seed crypto on your NNID.

If you system format (which does kill your saves unless you svdt first) and use the right files then softbricks are fucking uncommon.

That Tool I'm using works for me, though I'm using rxTools and on a O3dsxl. Don't think that part matters though, but the tool linked should be able to extract your emunand.bin and reinject it into the sd without issues, Does your Pc recognize your sd card?(And is it called gateway whatever? don't think that affects it but maybe it might since that's what it formats to after making room for emunand or whatever.)

It took several years between 5.0 and 9.2 to have exploits, maybe two/three years, maybe longer. It took maybe another year and a half or so for 9.3 to 10.3 to get exploits which pretty much got fixed within two weeks. It could happen tomorrow or be another year or two before anything blows up again, but I can't tell you that for sure.

What? no. I'm pretty sure emunand.bin shouldn't be on your sd card. Did you use/download the tool I linked? if you did, you should be able to open it and just hit extract bin or emunand or whatever and save it wherever you want (on your pc, don't save it on the sd.)
If it doesn't detect your sd card I'm not entirely sure, you may want to use that other tool that's actually installed on your 3ds. (emunand9? Whatever it's called I don't use it though so don't know how that works.)

What the fuck is a softbrick? I downgraded 2 n3ds and one o3ds and I still don't know what a softbrick is.

How do I know if any of those 3ds were softbricked at some point? It sure took a lot of tries to get the sysupdater to work, I got the missing CIA error like 20 times in n3ds but it ended up working. Sometimes sysupdater just froze but all I had to do was restart the 3ds.
