it actually is. it's a neutral card that give you enormous body value and is not countered by dispel or removal.
at minumum it's a 4/5 and a 2/3 for 5 which is too good. but RNG can be manipulated to get better results ( for example a cost 2 card with a passive effect) or you can simply luck out and get the biggest threat you played in the game. it wouldn't even be fair to increase its cost or decrease its stats: it's a stupid card.

card outcome being random should be allowed only in moderate amounts and when it makes sense, random placement around a square for example is acceptable.

I don't think individual cards in Songhai are really broken. But when you put them all together, they really do become unstoppable.

I lurked this thread a bit about a month ago, and you guys said that Duelyst may not even survive through open beta, let alone ever have a competitive scene.

Since then almost (if not) every big hearthstone streamer plays and enjoys this game. I'm talking all the streamers who get 20,000+ viewers consistently, some lesser known great players and even Brian Kibbler who holds a lot of influence in card game communities.

So just wanted to ask, has your opinions on the life expectancy of this game changed at all?

In that case it's fair that tempest kills him. Franky if they're going to keep nerfing board clears and keep global buffs like Razorback around they need to do something about Jax anyways. He had insane synergy with Third Wish back when it was a combo card and I think everyone dreaded the situation where he hits the board and you don't have a way to deal with the inevitable assrape burst you were about to receive.
This was with Tempest and Plasma Storm fucking /everywhere/

Now he still has the insane combo burst with Razorback but there's much fewer direct counters to him out on ladder. Of course the cards that dealt with him still deal with him in the same way, they're just much rarer. Vet's don't run Star's Fury all too often for the partial board clear. Magmar's both much rarer and running less Plasma Storm. Lyonar's much rarer and running less tempest. I guess I've seen more Breath of the Unborns but I'd hardly say that makes up for it. The only real saving grace is that Vanar seem to find it too slow or maybe they just haven't looked to run it yet because I see him very rarely.

I'm just worried about the future I guess as far as Jax is concerned. Vanar are already a menace on ladder. If they catch on that they can get even more potential damage out from a Razorback as Vets did with the old TW then we're all in for trouble.

I still worry about it sometimes since it doesn't cater to the casual crowd with the lack of a casual mode for questing and getting into the game. The devs placed a nice AI mode for newer players but coming from HS, I didn't see too much of a need for it.

I've tried to get some friends to play but very few of the actually stuck to it. Mainly the novelty of the board system wears off after a week or two and then they either only get on to do their daily quest or leave completely.

The main reason for which you played jax in vet was third wish, not portal guardian. This said, now that third wish in his old form is dead, jax got played less... which made portal guardian weaker.. which, added to the portal guardian nerf, killed him.

Songhai is strong, Vanar is stronger than ever and is cheesy as fuck, thank to the new chromatic cold (which is mana burn with a new face) and the interaction between fenrir warmaster and keeper of the value (4/5 cc 5 opening gambit: summon one of your random non-token dead creature). Vetruvia is weaker than before but still strong, except now you don't make conga lines for the love of god. Lyonar is still strong, even though it was nerfed, because keeper of the value interact positively with incredibly strong, non-opening gambit minions, and holy immolation wasn't nerfed.

I just downloaded this today and I've played through all the tutorial missions so far pretty smoothly, and now I tried to make my own deck and test it out against the AI, but the game has been lagging extremely and skipping my turns and it just completely froze and d/c'd. Unless you can combo it with TW it doesn't give you any additional board presence since it'll just end up dying the turn you play it anyways unless it's just to deal with a mini-jax I guess. Not to say it's bad it just didn't make the cut. A 6-mana 2-card combo is inconsistent to rely on, if only mildly so.

I actually just took out my Sarlacs and was considering adding them back in but I just bumped Chaos Ele back up to 3 and added in a Lightbender for all the Vet mirrors I've been getting. I might end up adding Tiger in again later.

Those got nerfed but Vet's changed a lot either way. You need consistently sticky bodies to smack TW on. You won't really have the board presence to get good use of Wind Runner. Delayed +1/+1 on one or two creatures isn't going to cut it. Especially not when there's so much competition for the 3-slot now.
Chaos Elemental has raw stats and an effect that makes him obnoxious to take out. Saberspine has rush for emergency clears. Sand Howler has protection from Martyrdom and Hailstone as well as providing great protection against Songhai with a Cosmic Flesh slapped on. Sarlac is as sticky as you can get. Alcuin lets you recycle your spells. Even PG probably still has more use than Wind Runner right now.
If you want to consider 4-drops too as an all-encompasing "midgame" slot then outside of the obvious Rejuvinator, Twilight Sorc has a great body and a damn useful effect.

Too many things take priority over a 3/3 with a frankly mediocre effect.
Wind Runner was good because he re-activated PG which no one runs anymore and because he could push things out of Tempest/Plasma Storm range which aren't as threatening anymore. Against Vanar, Lyonar, Songhai, Abyssian, and Vet he doesn't do enough. Against Magmar Plasma Storm still blows him out.

buy packs ( with daily gold)).

currently you make 100 gold/day by just doing quests and the draft mode is open only 2 days/week. it costs 150 and it also give gold. therefore you don't need to save up gold. buy packs, modify decks as you feel like it while bringing every faction to 11.
some starter decks are really shit if you don't change some cards

some tips:

- vanar and lyonar are pretty easy to build and play at first without many rare cards; google for golem budget decks or abyssian rush decks if you want.
-unlike other card games here you draw 2.5 cards/turn: you can keep the average card costlow. fill the deck with 2-3-4 cost cards.
-silence is a really good ability. you will need to put 3x the 2/2 that silence on opening gambit in almost all decks until you have better cards.
-in high ranked matchmaking creatures with strong abilities overtime( example: "ranged" or "grow 4") get istantly removed with spells or countered by silence, so players prefer to have their big creature's special abilities to be an " opening gambit" one or to have strong stats so that they will be still useful when silenced.
in low ranked matchmaking removals are lacking(because players might still have to unlock them or they are rare/legendaries cards) therefore those cheesy big legendaries are more viable but you have to think about the 2/2 that silence. around rank 10 you'll start seeing a good amount of removals and you'll have to change playstyle.
-a typical good small creature has decent stats ( possibly more than 2 hp) and one effect that will be useful/guaranteed 80% of the times.
-some faction have comboes in them ( abyssian has deathwatch comboes, songhay sick istant backstab ones). it's costy to build a good deck around them and they mostly suck.don't waste your spirits in trying to make the a deathwatch combo deck
-if you don't use recycle 90% of the turns as the first action in your turn then it means you are playing the game wrong.

Hell, really any deck running 3 Rejuvs as well. You can't keep up with a control deck if they're packing 12 more HP than you are. Rejuvinator is a good body on top of its effect so there's not even a real downside to playing it. It's often the best tempo play to make, actually.

I understand its need against aggro (would 100% take over ladder without it around) but it's still a good creature in a vacuum

On the topic of flying creatures.

There was a card/board game called Scrolls that had flying creatures.
To make them worth it they were often statted as creatures of their normal cost, or slightly worse, but not hugely so.
Their downside to make Flying not OP as shit though, was that any turn in which they moved beyond their normal move distance (and as such flew) they gained an additional 1 on their count down.
In this game, it would be "When the creature flies it cannot attack." or something.
Would this make flying cards worth it for non-songhai decks?

Her text gave her an attack boost every time an owl (friendly or otherwise) attacked.
Owl being a 2 Resources 1/1 who attacked every turn (rare in Scrolls), and had Flying.

Does anyone know if it's worth it climbing the ladder for rewards or conceding after every win and farming "Shieldbearers" like in Hearthstone, if you only plan to do the dailies for a while?

All get gold/spirit though I couldn't tell you the amount.

I just reached diamond after around 100 ranked wins including leveling up every class to 11 and daily quests, started playing a few days ago to escape HS. How hard is it to get the legend rank in this game? Can I get it with my now 5 epics or will I have to wait until I get a much more expensive deck to even compete like in RNGstone?

Anyway, Arclyte Regalia is considered 100% necessary for any competitive Lyonar deck.

Dark Nemesis is a fun legendary, but gets instantly removed/dispelled as soon as you get to the higher ranks. Until then it's an instant win condition as soon as it survives a turn.

Depends on what faction you're playing.

Vet wants Third Wish and Aymara. Time Maelstrom is a good optional card too.
Abyssian can get good use out of Revanent and Soul Grimwar
Magmar's Metamorph is extremely powerful and any big legend works well though the main choices are often Silithar Elder or Khymera. Twin Fang is also strong though more situational. I see people still run Vindicator though I never found him very threatening.
Songhai loves Boar and Mask of Shadows
Lyonar can tech any of their faction legends (outside of aegis barrier which sucks) but you'll most commonly see Arclyte.
Vanar's faction legends are all sorta optional depending on how you're building. Coldbiter would probably be the one you'll see the least. They can also get good use out of Lady Locke. Abyssian can too but burn is the only way anyone plays Abyssian and she doesn't fit into that play style.

Everyone outside of Songhai and Abyssian want Keeper of the Vale too. Archon Spellbinder can be a suitable replacement as well.

Really most any of the neutral legends can work some sort of niche in a deck. Too many people are terrified of experimenting with them and just stick with what they know. Dark Nemesis is among them. Fine. Kinda slow. Can work well.
