Repostan from old thread:
So what's the deal with the Fishing Hamlet?
From what I gather it was used by Byrgenwerth as some sort of Great One spawning pool, and Kos was supposed to fertilize all the female Great Ones you come across. But other than that I have no idea how else Byrgenwerth was involved.
i was about to make exactly this same post, with exactly the same password
i'll help out and then ask for help later.
Post favourite great ones
I'm trying to finish off DLC stuff, beaten Orphan, but Laurence is giving me a lot of trouble for some reason. I got him into his second phase ONCE and I just can't get close to him, I had him circling me with swipes where I could slash away, but he kept catching me in his wide attacks.
What's the trick to beating this guy? +10 tricked Whirly is doing the damage, more or less, but it's slow.
I thought Orphan had a very boring design.
>Orphan's voice gets thicker when he enters phase 2, along with the changes in his body
It would've been cool if he evolved more and more during the course of the fight, but I guess the point was that you killed him before he got the chance to turn into a full fledged Great One.
Daily Vaati post here
What if the hair of the beasts are actually thousands of small black/grey tentacles?
I'm here once again to remind you: If you've ever thought to yourself "man, fextra is kind of shit" then
stop using it
get the fuck on wikidot
do you see a page that could use more information? just update it, ya' dummy
you'll be happier
you'll have contributed to something useful AND avoided using a shit tier wiki that I know you want to bitch about using anyway
now I know what some of you are thinking
>b-but I play at BL150 and browse reddit, why would I ever use anything other than fextra?
and you're absolutely right, if you like fextra or don't think anything is wrong with it then just ignore my post
@people ringing for diamond dogs
i got no fucking idea whats happening. was ringing small resonant for 10 minutes with no luck, and then i switch to beckoning and get a maria cosplay who died after getting stomped. now i have two cooperators what is happening here
>design character around beast claws as a fun gimmick
>obtain Loran chalice
>immediately after killing Amygdala remember that I'm REQUIRED to play through all the other chalices leading up to it before I can get the claws
TIME FOR GLORIOUS CO-OP
You don;t actually have to farm, it;s just that farming is faster than completing side areas, so farming allows you to skip every side area that has ritual blood(4) as a reward, which happens to be a lot of them.
Does anything from From's other games top this ost?
The dlc had some good ones but I don't think any of them come close, even Ludwig's imo.
I had the reverse happen.
I beat him first try with a +7 chikage on a twink, but when I went to make a str leaning quality, I struggled with him for a good while because I was using untricked beast cutter.
>burning out on the game
>doing chalices isn't fun anymore
>want to have all these builds but the chalices just ruin them because certain builds just get stuck on defiled
feels bad, friends. kind of want dark souls 3 soon so i can alternate between the two.
Gehrman's theme isn't even good. It suits the atmosphere of the fight, but it;s greatest achievement is being subdued enough to not compete with the rest of the atmosphere, which is entirely in its visual presentation.
If that song had been the generic chalice boss theme, you'd never give it a second thought. You're just associating the music with aesthetic of the final anime battle with the ancient master of the hunters in a moonlight field of flowers and saying the song is good because you like that image.
BB's music in general was fairly weak. Like every other souls game, it had maybe 2 or 3 decent tracks and the rest was generic, bland or drown out by indistinct latin chanting.
He's right though, at least with Gehrmans theme and the latin. Same with Marias theme. Both are top tracks but are ruined by the chorus imo.
Is that a lightning gem in your boomhammer?
>You're just associating the music with aesthetic of the final anime battle with the ancient master of the hunters in a moonlight field of flowers and saying the song is good because you like that image.
no im actually not, I really like how it sounds you fags.
>If that song had been the generic chalice boss theme
I definitely would, in fact terror iirc, the song that plays during watchdog and some other bosses in chalices, is one of my favorite
Except most boss themes are excellent. For instance, Gascoigne's and Cleric Beast's are fantastic. Laurence's is it's own ecclesiastical theme fitting for a vicar with nods to the Cleric Beast theme. The ambient music for Yahar'Gul and Upper Cathedral Ward are atmospheric as fuck.
Anyone interested in fighting living failures with me?
Preferably with a build not too stronk, not looking for getting carried here. I think I can do it on my own but coop is fun.
Pass is bbg, ringing at research hall lamp
Do you think Doll is actually ripped underneath that shawl and dress?
I mean, she's gotta have a pretty hard body, since she's made out of porcelain. Maybe she even has doll abs and stuff.
>what is atmosphere
The reverent chanting, which by the way, is muffled indoors, clear outdoors (it's not just random soundtrack bucko), lends importance to the area. Yahar'Gul is Mensis territory and means considerably a lot. Same as Upper Cathedral Ward where the Church hides Ebrietas.
But you're just a contrarian fuck so nothing I say will sway you. You're just here to argue.
Ebrietas is cute! CUTE!
All bloodborne girls are cute
even the witches
Why does Miyazaki hate the Beast Claws so much? I love them so very much but every other weapon in PvP and a lot of them in PvE outclasses them. Someone post their webM's of them putting down shitters with their Beast Claws so I don't feel so bad
They get a free beast pellet effect, and since beast pellets are supposed to be a rare, valuable and limited resource, that's supposed to be a big deal.
Beast claws will out-dps virtually any other weapon in the game when it comes to wailing on a multi-part boss like ludwig unless they pop a beast pellet, too. The free resource is supposed to be its balancing factor and pvp with it, like with the game as a whole, is just an afterthought.
Ok. I honestly listened to that song for the first time, (Since I've never played Nier cause I heard it was a bad game) and I really did not like that song.
So yeah, I guess I do consider Toby Fox's wankings better than.. that.
beast claws are str-leaning quality.
Pure str is easier to fit into a sub-100 meta. Over 100, there's no reason to not be str-quality if you want to use str weapons, since a good half of them are str-quality.
>undertale and binding of isaac fans
it's okay to have shit taste. once you're out of middle school you can stop playing games for babies.
If anybody feels like going at Orphan with me, I'll be ringing at the fog gate amidst the snails with password "bbg". I am shit at it but filled with determination.
My PS+ expires tomorrow and I might not want to pay for another month, so it's now or never.
Oh, good hunter, look! I have wonderful news!
>Fix phantom range on saws/saif/Rakuyo
>Tone down/remove armor on Bloodletter/Rakuyo L2, respectively
>Give Steak R2 charge hyper armor
>Up the base damage on Beast Claws by some, Steak by a little
Could probably think up some other stuff, drawing a blank at the moment.
Sure, I'll be there.
>mfw waiting for decent hunters to help me against Amygdala on Chalice Dungeons
Since when fatty is so strong ?
I'm cautiously optimistic. The fact they set a not-RTS game in Warhammer Fantasy makes me happy, even if it is just a Left 4 D clone. The talk of possible Ork and Chaos DLC makes me even more optimistic.
I just hope the single player is decent enough because I don't want to pay for PS+
>have done 6 builds
>dozens and dozens of hours in each of them
and still every new build is a fucking gamble sometimes. you always discover something you wish you would have done instead, maybe invest points a bit differently.
As a basic rule, to make PVE easier you need to invest in vitality. New players don't always realize that, often levelling up other stats so they can use whatever spell or weapon they just picked up, and that's why so many people think Souls games are incredibly difficult. Build tinkering is complex, especially with the introduction of gems, but getting through the game usually isn't.
>1500 word seminar paper due in a day
>can't stop playing bloodborne
This is why my first souls playthrough is always a quality vitgouge build.
I collect everything and by the end of the game, I find out what works.
I usually go 20STR/20DEX/20FAI/20INT and everything else pumped purely into Stam and VIT.
Then I make specialized builds from there.
you can do it, she believes in you
>you always discover something you wish you would have done instead, maybe invest points a bit differently.
this happened to me last week on my skill build I was working on. Put points into BLT for the reiter, and initially had no problems with it but eventually didn't like it for its short reach in pve(its godly in pvp but fuck trying to do CDs with this). Took the next day to start anew and catch up to where I was yesterday
yeah, i don't think anyone could ever just use a few select weapons to get through pve without being carried. i'm really frustrated with my HMS build right now going through defiled as well. just can't do any damage yet because there are no nourishing gems i can get yet.
>So what's the hardest boss in any Souls type game, including Bloodborne?
Until you realize they can be poisoned.
I-Is my Arcane character decent looking?
I named him Hastur
>That isn't a boss you god damned retard
Might as fucking well be.
>Just helping out in the chalice
>Every summon is for amy
>Have to fight her ass for 5 minutes till shes gets to 20% hp
>The host always fucking suicide rushes her at that point and dies rather than being a corner humping cunt
Am I here just to suffer
Honestly, after two weeks trying to pass those goddamn archers back in 2011 I dropped it and watched my brother's playthrough instead. And I was supposed to be the experienced one, having played DeS and all
>I don't think anyone could use just a few weapons to beat the game without summons
I got the Steak Dinner first opportunity I could and ran through the whole damn game with it. Solo'd every boss, too. Wasn't that hard, minus a few that gave me some trouble.
Okay. Here's the trick. Buy 8 poison arrows and 100 wooden arrows. Stand all the way at the back of the pad where the lightning gargoyles try to ambush you. Hit them twice. So long as you're all the way back, they can't hit you, but you can use the woodens to get a firing solution. Then peg them twice or so with poison arrows each. Then get a drink or take a piss or something.
Wear light armor that doesn't make noise so the archer from behind doesn't start firing until you've actually run into his line of vision. Then just parry the other fucker into submission.
I never saw what the deal with Ornstein and Smough was.
I beat them fatrolling in full elite knights with a zwei. Killed smough first while dodging ornstein. Didn't even use the pillars.
I was playing the game unlocked though since I always did that anyway. I feel like that fight is only hard for shield turtling babies with no poise or camera skills.
It literally advertised as an aggressive game and if you are the slight bit aggressive 90% of the enemies will get stunned
Literally only a few like the first canon, the Descendants infinite combo and not know about Roms meteors but nothing is that hard to maneuver around
They drop from the big angsty baghead guys with the bloodbag rack they spam around. There are 2 of those guys. They drop these bloodtinge radials, weird.
Orphan is the hardest soulsborne boss by far imo.
It would be Flamelurker if you couldn't get him stuck on terrain and if you don't have the purple flame shield. But Orphan takes it because that is not the case.
You'd have to see. I feel like the 22.3%'s would beat these.
I think these are just kind of a temporary solution for the bow/chikage/letter builds who want some extra tinge damage before they get to those brain ladies.
Gehrman was also not as difficult as I expected.
I also used a Bold Hunter mark and did the entire DLC before killing the Moon Presence because I wanted a Blood Rock for the Burial Blade.
Image I fukken saved from some anon the other day.
This gem isn't that great anyway, but it shows what's possible.
He's a bit hard in the first fights when you don't know his pattern and he moves faster than we can see. He's pretty susceptible to fast attacks though.
I know it's possible, I'm just pointing out how weird it'd be if you farmed for off-shape bloodtinge circles when most people spend tens of hours trying to do the exact opposite.
Yes you can, I'm not sure about the password thing though as I only did it with a password.
Gehrman was very very easy for me, but I have weird trouble with Darksouls bosses. I killed the Darkbeast on my first try without help, but struggled for a while with the One Reborn.
I think the Orphan is definitely the hardest boss in the game though.
Since when do the Witches of Hemwick have that Brainsucker freezing spell? They totally caught me off guard this playthrough.
I died a few times to him, mostly because I didn't know how to fight him and I was looking at the pretty flowers in the boss area.
Now that is some fucking
K O R E A
I love that From seems to have even made icons and artwork for all the different gem possibilities. I remember getting a Fools Droplet from the brain ladies and it had it's own neat art with colouring etc.
I honestly wish someone would data dump this fucking game allready. I bet there are icons for Abyssal Droplets that are impossible to get.
OKAY FAGGOTS NO MORE MEMES
Kos or Kosm?
>not roleplaying as a homeless beggar
I bet you guys have detailed backstories too.
>make a build
>go through half of the game
>go through all of the chalice shit
>finish the rest of the game and all of the DLC
>farm for hours and hours
>pvp a little bit
>decide to make a new build
>autism won't let me settle for anything less than perfect gems
>do all the same shit over again
>repeat 5 more times
>spent at least twice as much time farming over actually pvping
this is a flaw, okay?
things should not be this way
this farming is really starting to ware me down and I'm getting burnt out
Ok that made me curious.
To those that think up backstories to their hunters. please share.
Id post mine, but i dont have a picture of my hunter at the ready.
an old beggar who has really nice weapons ( ie Evelyn and Chikage.) but dresses in raggedy clothes.and he had an invitation to Cainhurst in his shoe that he forgot about so when he found it again he decided to join the vilebloods for some sweet queen pussy
How autistic is that?
I literally came up with it right now for shits and giggles.
I just can't seem to get the hang of parrying Orphan with the Augur
Half the time he just tanks through it anyway, and when I do stagger him he's too far away to actually visceral him in time
Somehow it was Logarius, thinking about it now makes me a bit ashamed, as I now destroy the fucker every run on the first try, but on my first character I easily did more than 40 tries.
The Undead Giant in the chalices was annoying as fuck too, especially the mace variant.
>have to wade through all of pthumeru to get lost chaikage
Easy. You have less damage than most builds, but you still have 20 STR, better than a BL4 can manage, and you can beat NG+7 DLC at that if you're mad enough. Besides, you have LOADS of fucking health. You almost can't die.
That, and you can find various flat gems along the way to give decent damage boost. The DLC has an arcane gem with flat arcane of a decent amount to stick in a weapon before you even start the dungeons.
It's depth 2, dude. At level 36 you should be able to stomp all over that.
At the very least you aren't the kind of joker that rings their big bell in the pre-dungeon side area at level fucking 80+ in depth one and two chalices. Maybe I just got triggered.
>i'm in literally the same boat
i think we gotta give it a rest maybe for a while. i don't even have one of these characters with all satisfying gems (mainly because of the fact that i use so many weapons on each)
brace for autism
Cruel fate start was used as the basis, but basically one of the children abducted by the choir, preferably from some dead cainhurst nobles to explain them summons, to be turned into an ayy but escapes before it habbened and then came back yhaharhar searching for a cure for a condition that was from ayy treatments
In the DLC, it's like 20% arc + 33 flat arc or something. Pretty decent for a build with low damage scaling, alot of chalice enemies are weak to arcane too, the undead mob guys.
Not so important when you can perpetually keep a mob on their ass until ded. Not talking pvp here
I need a fuck tonne of chunks though. I mean, not really, I have my mains +10'd, but I wanna get whip letter and chikage up to +9 too.
Well yeah but that late in the game you're not really going to have a steady stream of insight unless you just do chalice dungeons over and over and over
ringing at the lamp
Cruel fate, grew up on the streets in a gang of child thieves. One day robbed a Yharnamite and got the unopened summons and a vial of blood which the others dared her to drink.
>Not talking pvp here
neither was I
why would I use boom hammer for mob control when beast cutter does a better job and has a better moveset with more range and utility?
boom hammer has the smallest moveset in the game except for maybe tonitrus
>why would I use boom hammer for mob control when beast cutter does a better job and has a better moveset with more range and utility?
Because it doesn't. Tricked hammer can literally explode a cluster of mobs without having to stand around like a dickweed for the whip recoil to come back at you. Cutter's only saving grace is its degree, but you're doing a shit job if you're getting flanked anyway. Cutter just lacks the effectiveness of the boom. Two wings to flatten something, boom only takes a leap or a charge.
Where in the dlc is this sperm wyrm?
Might be that one, I could be misremembering. It's a triangle with a decent amount of percentage and flat, is all I remember. I stuck it on an arcane whirlygig through the chalice trudge.
Trusty bolt saif, fire saw spear and arcane whirly is how I did it. The L2 on the whirly actually does very well with flat damage.
They wanted to make the game as tedious as possible to draw out playtime. Literally most of the games decisions were made in mind to warp back to the dream.
We could've had restocking vials/bullets, sitting at lamps and levelling up and repairing from them, but that would be too "souls like" for a souls like game, apparently.
the hunter bone not restoring vials really irks me
same with doing a successful invasion/coop session only to have it deduct all of the vials/bullets you used within the beckoner's world
at the very least, if the session was successful, it should restore your vials/bullets to what they were before invading, it doesn't even have to restock them
instead you have to awkwardly find a way to kill yourself
that, and the fact that you can't even set your lantern spawn after initially lighting it is really fucking gay
>not making all bloodtinge characters with red hair
>not making all arcane characters with black/blonde/white hair and light eyes
Alfred was a mad men. He was most likely went crazy after Logarius betrayed the executioners.
"Now Master Logarius martydoom is canonized"
He did what he went about telling everyone Logarius did. Logarius was a true marty now. His mission was over.
Okay so ive got a build right here and its about lighting shit on fire ive got these stats atm
>im sorry about the 12 in skill but i had to try the moonlight sword
Apart from that, where should i go from here?
On my 70ARC build, I pretty much just use the HMS beams though. For 1 bullet cost a beam, they outdo every single spell tool with the right arcane gemming. I use blacksky if I want something more long range.
Brew is kind of....mob control I guess. If you've got a bunch of shit running at you all together you can AOE them with it.
>fight le meme man
>he does nothing but spam acb
Fun game you guys
If you played DS1 you'll get an immediate feel for how to use it, because it's basically the same usability as DS1's fireballs. It does cast faster than the DS1 counterpart, but the best way to hit with it still is to freeaim and throw it where your opponent is heading.
What the fuck.
I was co-oping against Maria and the host just hid in the corner the entire fight.
He healed at the end, so he wasn't dry on blood vials.
What the fuck.
Used to be when you could just password match to get into any dungeon once you had the SRRC.
Fuck I miss that. Being able to just get an uncanny wheel right when you want it and not waste mats on the regular one was bliss.
I guess it would also depend on the weapon too, huh?
Beast claws would probably be best with +15 because they don't have AR that high and they're constant damage over time, and I don't think I'd ever counter hit with them anyway aside from an occasional initial swing.
>Frankenstein collected body parts and cadavers from graveyards to assemble Adam
>Mensis collected body parts and cadavers from Hemwick to assemble One Reborn
>Frankenstein used a lightening storm to awaken his child
>Mensis used the Paleblood Sky to birth their god
You're now aware that One Reborn is an eldritch Frankenstein's monster.
Why is itsy-bitsy Maria so short? She's like two heads smaller than the doll!
It's so cute!
>manage to figure out how to beat FRC Bloodletting Beast after 30 tries
>beat FRC headless Bloodletting Beast after 5 tries
Who thought that a ranged needle attack that leaves it open for so many seconds makes it harder?
Depends on the weapon, but more often than not open-foe beats out flat.
If you have 700 AR, that 15 flat is about 2% of your damage on all of your attacks. If at least one of three attacks you land is a counter-hit, open-foe outdamages 15 flat.
This is assuming those attacks are using a 1.0 multiplier. If it's greater, lean toward open-foe.
>implying the One's dead components weren't assembled in the unseen waking world (remember Yharnam Sunrise) to be reborn in the nightmare
Level 101 ringing just outside of boss door for Orphan of Kos
somebody wanna halp? not getting anyone at all so no need to fool with passwords
Before level ups I bet the doll could easily use her height advantage to overpower her dear hunter and force him to the ground if she so chose.
Imagine if she denied the hunter strength level ups in preparation for such an act!
She's a power bottom at worst.
The innocent seeming ones always have kinks. I'm absolutely positive she'd be in control.
She's based on Maria, and Maria's definitely the pants in most relationships.
I'm probably one of the few people who actually uses regular bloodletter on a STR build with blunt gems.
The R2 stab in untricked form does an insane amount of damage.
White Church Garb
Attire of special Church doctors.
These doctors are superiors to the black preventative hunters, and specialists in experimentally backed blood ministration and the scourge of the beast.
They believe that medicine is not a means of treatment but rather a method for research, and that some knowledge can only be obtained by exposing oneself to sickness.
>Fauxsefka wears white church stuff
She was just a middling Church doctor that decide to abuse the opportunity of the night of the hunt to get some bonus research and experiments done.
Can anyone help me kill Simon? I'm ringing at the first lamp in the dlc, pass is bbg. I really want simons bow blade early on.
>not roleplaying as a homeless beggar in a nightmarish abyss.
Get your shit together guys.
yeah it's from one of the undead giants that drop thrust and blunt gems.
Anyone wanna go through the second half of the fishing hamlet/potentially kill orphan with me?
The faggot with the bloodletter is bouncing all of my attacks.
From the elevator station, go backwards, back inside the building, and you'll see it hanging over the empty space, it's just a cage.
Also, sure this has been asked before, but why does the Orphan look more humanlike compared to the other Great Ones/Kin we see?
Huh, seems like it doesn't want to work for some reason. I can't use my lamp, tried silencing then reringing, but I'm not getting the message that usually says "searching for the chime of a small resonant bell"
these squishy high endurance builds I find are hilarious
Yo someone wanna help me kill Laurence?
BL 102 ringing right outside the cathedral (the one with the lamp, not the one with Laurence). I wanting to run past the big guy with the axe right before Laurence rather than kill him every time and then summoning. Password is bbg, I'm set to worldwide if that matters.
