Two questions.


Do Defense and Magick Defense influence anything at all besides the damage taken from their respective sources?
I don't quite understand why, if that's the case, it's recommended for casters to focus on Magick Defense when they're usually hit both by physical ranged and magick attacks, wouldn't it make more sense to try to balance the two?

Also, in the wiki page for Mystic Knight they mention iron is avoided like the plague in their armor, because it fucks with magick.
Is this fluff or does it actually affect gameplay? Should I "avoid it like the plague" or just wear the best shit I find?

Magick Archer is super fun, I'm loving the anime dagger skills and the bullet hell arrows, but am I gimping my stats by switching to it this early?

Just because their stats lean that way doesn't mean you have to focus on it.

I always take gear with the best physical defense stat on my mages. IMO physical defense is more important than magic defense for everyone. Not only is magic damage relatively rare, but the dangerous magic users tend to beof the "get hit and you're fucked" kind, so a bit more magic defense isn't going to help.

Point one, if you are a caster, you'll be in the back more, so casters (wyrms are a prime example) will keep tossing quick cast spells like levin at you so you can't channel your spells. Besides that, use whatever has the best stats.

And the iron bit is lore. We all know that the immortals set is the best MK armor in the game, as it's sturdy and looks balla as fuck, with the added bonus of health regen.

Just make sure that you have enough stamina. Popping out tons of six/ninefold bolts in BBI, its real easy to lose track of your stamina.

Met my first hacked pawn last night, chilling in the pawn guild post game. Level 50 warrior, cursed kings belt, dragonwing circlet, and a few pieces of hellfire. Saw the circlet first, so checked him out.

resposting:I had some pawn with me for 10 level now doing fuck all quests.
We were fighting some saurians and those motherukcers went into water, pawn followed and died by that shitty deep water monster.
Did that guy lose alot of potential RC and knowledge now? Or is it just no items/rating, which is bugged anyway for now.

That really sucks, I kept him this long on purpose so that guy receives a huge ton of a reward cause his pawns had pretty good training.

Level 50, played up through 50 as a strider for the balanced stats and Dat Stamina. Guard farmed the augments that I needed last night, and bought the bbi level 1 spellbow from the merchant in the everfall. Time for BBI.

Add the pawn to your favorites. Hired a mage pawn at like level 9, and favorited her. Every time I look the pawn up, the other arisen has been leveling almost the same speed as me, so the pawn, now a sorc, is always ready to go.

It was refreshing finding a competent sorc pawn so early in the game.

How complex is the pawn AI and the way it learns?

For instance, if I play as strider and use bows for flying enemies, daggers once they've landed, is my pawn going to copy that behavior for flying / grounded enemies?

I'm doing the quest "Land of Opportunity". I've talked to Sara and caught the kid, and now a day has passed and Sara has been all like "Yeah I'll do whatever".

The thing is, I can't find Jasper anywhere. There's no quest marker, and no sight of anyone called Jasper (I've talked to a lot of people).

Anyone got any help on this?

If you don't mind dying a few times, do the run in BBI to get the void key, then go to the first safehouse and grab the moonbeam gem there, open the moonbeam door to get the ring of perseverance. Did that before level 10, I think I maxed my vocation when my pawn was at vocation level 5 or 6, and maxed my second before my pawn maxed theirs. When I did the guard farming at level 45, I had about 110k DP, and that's after buying the skills and augments in my leveling vocations.

And further, once you reach Gran Soren, do what I do. Do the everfall quest, pick up the port crystal. Run to Hillfigure Knoll, drop it, and grab the second one there. Go back to GS and rest, then run to the greatwall encampment, drop the second portcrystal there. The merchant there sells equipment a couple game stages ahead of the rest of the mainland. So, if you just got to GS, Caxton would have like 2 or 3 of everything, the merchant at the greatwall would be selling 2 item upgrades above that.

Nope, the servers can detect hacked pawns. If they do, they prevent other players from hiring the pawns.

I'm doing the No Honor Among Thieves quest, and when I try and go talk with pike he runs away then disappears when he goes below the bridge, has that happened to anyone else? I would like to make a good old sword n' board character with no magic fuckery.

Is it viable to stay a fighter throughout the whole game?

"Basic" just means it's one of the three classes you can choose from at the beginning, it doesn't mean it's weaker than any of the others. Fighter in particular gets one of the most overpowered skills in the game, and I'd argue that Strider is the funnest class hands down.
