never gonna get pawn rewards or hires edition
>Tips for new players
You can change vocations at level 10 at the Gran Soren inn or BBI.
Character appearance can be changed later on.
You don't need pawns, but they help.

">This release contains the full original Dragon's Dogma game, with all original Downloadable Content (bonus quests and cosmetic items pre-loaded; armour and weapons available to buy from merchants), plus new additions such as new enemies, quests, locations, character customization, weapons and armors.
Owners of the original Dragon’s Dogma will receive 100,000 Rift Crystals, an Eternal Ferrystone and the Gransys Armour Pack consisting of six brand new costumes for free, upon purchasing Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen."
Wait, I don't have any of this. Are we even supposed to have it at all?
>Accidentally start casting new spell in town, curious as to what kind it is
>kid walks into it, gets me jailed
>Have to wait ~45 minutes
What does it add? Is it some absurd japanese attempt at being a cool original 2000 RPG game? Fuck off. So many aspects of this are great, but they just revert the majority on purpose. Fuck.
Alright familia, I got two Rings of Desiccation early, one for me and one for my pawn. Is it worth it to get 2 more or should I say fuck it and just have one each?
This shit is bugged as all fuck. I can see this gear but only when I change vocation and choose to change equipment. I can also see this eternal ferrytstone when I try to retrieve my items from storage.
I don't have those rift crystals though.
It's really fucking shit that we're getting no rewards as well. My friend used my pawn throughout the entire day and I got nothing for it.
I thought we'd get everything regardless even if we didn't buy the game previously (Which we obviously could´t) so maybe that's it. I can only see some equipment and a few items but no ferrystone or rc.
Would you guys rent a pawn based off a pampered young princess mixed with the elf from dragon's crown with mitigator and medicant?
I played as a mystic knight for a bit and hated it so I switched to ranger and liked it now I want to try out warrior.
How fucked am I for switching around too much? I'm level 25 atm.
Also any early game strong 2h weapons? My judgement at 2 stars is weak as shit feeling on hard mode.
Degenerates like you belong on a cross
best inclination for a support mage pawn? i want her to stay back and cast offensive magic unless the party is low on health, heal them, then continue to stay back and cast offensive magic
right she does that but tends to cast high anodyne right next to a fucking dragon, pulls aggro then gets BTFO
It's that time again. So much nostalgia.
Some of the DLC gear along with the eternal ferrystone are available in grand soren's inn.
Not any inn's bank, just grand soren.
The rest of the DLC items are bought from the black cat shop.
But yeah, the annoying major bug is the pawn hiring not giving rewards.
Fucking crapcom, I swear.
someone add some info in the op that people should not minmax and go Util/Challenger for Ranged pawns and Scatther/Mitigator/Challenger for melee pawns.
fuck those qestions, it's probably 1 anon asking it every 5 minutes cause he didnt get an answer he likes.
>Elemental weapon buffs aside from fire and holy are useless outside of one boss monster each
Guys, what secondary inclination for sorcerer? I want to make Utilitarian primary.
I want to make it immediately cast spells when it sees enemies and avoid doing shit like casting then canceling to buff, ESPECIALLY if enemy is the type that can only be damaged by magic. I've hired way way too many sorcerers that take like 2 minutes to figure out they have to attack the enemy floating spirit shits. Most frustrating shit ever.
Like literally the exact opposite of this is true. Most buffs besides fire and holy are extremely situational with those two being good all around, holy being better late game.
That's why I'm doing it. Forgot how awesome sinew is, especially for a yellow to stay nimble. Besides, need clout and the two magick augments from mage and sorc for my MA (some enemies are still more easily taken out with daggers, like direwyverns).
have you confirmed that yourself?
highest damage isnt straight up the best call
If you use ice you can easily controll enemies thus focus more on attack stats. it all comes how you want to play the game.
This one doesn't cover the main thing noobs need to know, is to stop asking which they'll find fun instead of experimenting. Also has useless shit like "pawns aren't necessary but they help". Sounds like you wrote this and are butthurt it got upgraded.
Minmaxing practically forces a restart later on.
>herpderp minmaxed for max str
>cant play magic classes without being weak as shit
>herpderp minmaxed for max mag
>cant play strength classes without being weak as shit
>Go full retard
>Easy outs provided for people who aren't absolutely retarded
>Can't access them because you're that retarded
I'll never get tired of hearing about your suffering.
If you dont level with some awareness of how the progression system works you can end up with something that has 800 magic defense and no attack power to speak of.
Even if its for the sake of making a character with 600 in each attack stat and decent other stats so you have the flexibility to play every vocation, just going at the game blind is not a good idea. Unfortunately its a contrived system that needs to be fought with to avoid undesirable endings.
Oh my god I am having so much fun compared to when I was playing on the PS3.
Did all the early game quests you can do before going to gran soren, explored a bit and stumbled upon the water god temple where I got a bunch of awesome armor for my fighter pawn as well as this bitchin-ass sword with really high attack and magick that's ON FIRE
I'm so giddish and excited it feels like I'm a little kid again
I killed that ogre in 2 minutes flat thanks to my fighter distracting him and me unleashing charged arrows at his eye, but not before dismantling his tusks of course.
I want this to last forever
After playing 350 hours on XB360 game feels oddly familiar. I really love mouse and keyboard controls though.
I pondering if I should wait for game balance/difficulty mod though. Feels weird as I spent so many hours and not sure if I want to blow through it again.
I already love my lolita pawn though.
>level 30, carefully select good level 30 pawns
>go fight the dragon / wyvern / whatever near shadow fort
>my mage pawn keeps getting interrupted and casts useless heals and fire buffs instead of holy or ice
>she is usually pretty good with buffs
>she finally casts ice buff so I can use my cannon and actually do some damage while the fucker is in the air spamming fire
>he decides to leave like a gryffin at this very moment
holy shit its some bullshit. I headed to the shadow fort for the quest, can I go back and fight him still ? if he comes back ?
Also is it really possible to have pawns that are not shit ?
I mean mine is challenger / utilitarian I believe, granted it was the first time fighting a drake so she couldnt 'know' what element to use but still. I also had 20 spring water shared between me and her, so the inifinte casting of high anodyne was just useless.
I've been trying to use the 'help' command right before a fight to make her use the buffs , and the correct ones, more often but it doesnt work that well.
Playing MK, if I dont equip the weapons buffs myself I'm useless. I dont have access to abyssal anguish right now.
>changed "tips for new players" to "newfags read this"
>changed "wiki you lazy shit" to even more profanities (wow am I cool and mature yet?)
>"won’t ruin your goddamn build, you autist"
>"go straight to the trash"
Sounds like some kid from /v/ wrote the other OP, I prefer this one.
Whoops, it was a cyclops. I don't even know how I got the two mixed up, considering y'know, cyclopses (cyclopsi?) only have one eye and stuff.
I'm a dumbdumb
PS ranger is fun as hell
that's not minmaxing though you fucking idiot, that's just having common sense that you should not try to melee if you played wizard all life, minmaxing is about playing classes you don't want to play so you have the best possible stats at a moment where you don't need them anymore. It's for people who played the game a million times and just want to see what biggest number they can achieve at the very end of the game.
I didn't minmax my first time through DD on console and end game was a blast. I decided to minmax on a 2nd play through and it wasn't nearly as fun in end game. Being pigeonholed in a game with as balanced classes as DD is stupid.
This is my pawn mage setup
is that okay or should I modify anything
all she basically does is just spam the holy buff and rarely cast spells
it really pisses me off that she doesnt cast spells
I'll ignore how new you're sounding, but new one has legitimately important stuff that may stem the newfag questions somewhat and weeded out chaff like "pawns help". If the language triggers you, then change it, but OPs get updated in /vg/ to adapt to what newfags are clearly requiring based on thread content. Stop being butthurt your OP got changed.
Is Maul's Badge of Amity supposed to do aught? Because I have it and it does naught.
Description says it stops bandits around the fort from attacking me. I googled it and people are saying it is supposed to just make them not spawn, and other people are saying it doesn't work.
Curious if anyone knows the trick to this item.
if you go mage yourself for a bit and cast those spell he will imitate you, or hire another staff pawn that casts this so he can imitate from him
but you doing it would be faster and way more effiicient
across ~8 hours of gameplay i've heard 2 minutes of music. why is it so rare? why does it only play for 20 seconds when it does show up? is there a way to make it more frequent?
Anyone know what happens to my pawn when I backup / restore saves? Convinced a friend to get the game and he didn't play the console version. I've already powered through most of the game so my pawn would break the early game fun for him I feel.
If I back up my save and start over until he gets a ways into the game, will my old pawn still exist, or is there only 1 pawn per account?
I love my mail undershirt, but when do I get the full chain hosen? Ive been running around with half chain hosen for nigh 10 hours now
I am at the Goblin Fort right now, slayed a drake on the way
Man the added info isn't stuff anyone ever even asks.
I'd include something about how kb/m support is good, the game runs great, and where save files are located. Those sort of questions are asked way more. The choice of language is still really awful though.
Can I go spam these spells on the golem by the ocean and it will trigger the learning process for my pawn?
The golem doesnt really die to magic so it seems like a good idea for inclination grinding
>forgetting cyclopes, garms and elder ogres
>forgetting Condemned Cyclopes, Hellhounds, most/all Saurians, Gorechimeras
Ice and Lightning are much more useful in post-game and especially in BBI, it's part of the reason MA rapes so hard seeing as two of their best offensive skills are suited to BBI's cramped corridors and elemental weaknesses. Fire/Holy is good in general, correct, but there's plenty of monsters where it won't help you, Fire especially. I'd rather have a pawn with Ice, Lighting and/or Holy over Fire and Holy past mid-game.
>capital city doesn't even have buildings
As long as you have a fighter/warrior pawn with good inclinations to keep all the enemies roped up, it's amazing.
You just sit back and dish out damage like a king.
If you're persistent with collecting things then you'll end up with lots of various arrows.
I got in a nasty fight with a whole bunch of Saurians, but I handled it smoothly by putting half of them to sleep, and using the charged shot to remove their tails in one hit. Having trouble in a fight? Blind/sleep arrows on the strongest enemies and take care of the little ones afterwards. Oil arrows and fire boon. Blast arrows (which are extremely OP) and a skill that lets you fire 6 arrows in one shot (I believe there's even an upgrade for that skill later on).
Aside from that there's shit like shoot arrows in a fancy pattern, or a skill that's like the warrior's arc of deliverance except in bow and arrow form which is quite comparable in damage as far as I can tell
But y'know different strokes for different folks and stuff.
>faffing about the verda woodlands early on, before the gryphon shows up
>open a chest
>10 blast arrows
How do I romance she-goat? She literally disappears after we give the hydra head. I finished all tasks to meet the Duke, would it still be possibe to romance her if I go there?
I already did escort her to Shadow Fort.
>>Man the added info isn't stuff anyone ever even asks.
Are you kidding me? "What should I play" (without knowing experimenting won't hurt them) and "would you rent this pawn?" (without stating their skills/inclinations) are two of the most common annoyances here.
Don't know if that's your webm but in case it is: You were late with your attack. Unleash the attack AS SOON as the bar is filled and the screen flashes. Just like in Monster Hunter, you do so much more damage if you time it right.
Does anyone have that stick figure image of the guy pressing down on dpad to come while fucking a pawn?
>think maybe I can play DD on PC for the heck of it, already poured 700 hours into the console version
>PC is kinda shit though
>load game up anyway
>load into the tutorial part
>FUGGIN 15-20 FPS CHUGGING
>exit to main menu start setting shit on medium/low
>load back in
>same fucking speed
What's the optimal graphical options for toasters preferably that keep textures at medium or so
Nigga I'm not a computer guy
Nigga I dunno what this refresh rate means
Elemental damage doesn't matter on them because deathly arrow/tenfold kills them in moments anyway.
>Going up the mountain path, see the rocks that are supposed to roll down and crush you
>Try to trigger them by shooting them
>They blow up when my arrows hit them
Man, it feels like there's so many little things I never noticed when I played it on console.
>walking around at night
>get jumped by eight wolves
>kill them all
>take two steps
>seven more wolves to kill
>take three steps this time
>"wolves hunt in packs!"
>ten more wolves jump out
come on now
she walks around the dukes demense. she doesn't disappear in the game until you finish her questline, so keep playing.
her personal questline finishes quite early though so you have to make sure you max her affinity before that or leave her quests till the end after you get arisen's bond.
While you're at it also looking for the comic where Asalam is beloved and he says "It's just japes" or something.
I lost most of my DD images.
I don't have either but I have this
Basically 2 stick figures fucking and a dpad is drawn with the down key pressed. It's not something easily googleable or that would be uploaded anywhere. Someone here has to have it though.
It's a fucking nonstop gauntlet of wolves right before the canyon, so glad the eternal ferrystone exists
On the bright side you come out of it a millionaire if you're on hard mode
on that note do pawns see dire wolves as completely different enemies as regular wolves?
Because on my first encounter with them my pawn decided to try both ice and electric first before figuring out fire works just as well on slightly bigger wolves.
ENB is so buggy, yet so full of potential.
This is gonna be good.
that's fine too, just read on the wiki the difference and decide for yourself what you want
it's that easy, if in some time in the future you see a pawn in your party behaving better than yours, then look up his inclinations
Play fighter til rank 5. Get Sinew augment. Then switch to any yellow class. Idk if being strider actually matters as long as you have dagger skills. Then you climb them and use scarlet kisses and shit. Eventually they should do it. Get second opinions though. This is just my assumption.
>compulsively save every 2 minutes
>forget to save for an hour straight
>look away for a second, walk off a cliff, die
>Bezel Crown was nerfed in DA to 2x exp down from 5x exp
>Doesn't stack with Weal anymore, either
Heard the review copies had the Berserk equipment in its files and that it's there for people who downloaded the link. It doesn't matter too much but any chance they can be readded into Steam copies via modding? Or is the modding capabilities for this game incapable of achieving that?
>spend 4 hours trying to kill this fucker because he keeps flying away
>finally managed to murder him while he was holding my pawn
>pawn immediately casts comestion and kills me afterwards
Not him but Util/Chal is for when your pawn has good, preferably perfect, bestiary knowledge and can take proper advantage of it.
They nerfed Assassin's best augs, and str/mag stacking in general, too.
Anyone wanna hire a poor goblin?
Not enough human peddlers on the road to make a living.
Hard mode isn't that bad as long as you're okay dying in one hit to anything for the first 15 levels after which you will narrowly survive with 10 hp
Forget trying to take down a drake at low levels though
But yes the gold is fucking ridiculous
Does the game just decide that the drake is going away and doesn't let you kill it or what? I'm sure I hit with enough force to down it and it still got away.
>Madeleine is my favorite
>remembering that romancing her denies her her dream leaving her to living in my goddamn shack
>want to steal Gran Soren castle for her
>the ending where I get the castle I don't get Madeleine
>the ending where I get Madeleine I don't get Gran Soren castle
This game man.
Russia did nothing wrong. I approve russia expanding in other countries.
I like sucking off strangers. I have custom glory hole installed in my house you can come and get blowjob with wet mouth. 100% anonymous and safe. 65 yo or older please.
>mfw browsing the forums
The steam community is absolute cancer.
Anyone got a list of item IDs? i can't seem to find anything about a completed list anywhere. also waifu
>tfw overleveled and my pawn is probably too op for most people to hire now
So yeah I can't trigger lassitude or high levin anymore. I just stand there getting punch in the face
I feel like an idiot.
no bully it's not supposed to be no super great shit
intel core i7 processor
It's a shitty laptop I bought to use in general and to play a few games that aren't too graphically intensive.
If I can't get DD to work I'm refunding it anyway, just wanted to at least try first
Can you resummon him from your pawns used list? I've never tried...
is my character decent looking?
are there any other masks or anything like that to make me look more like a rogue?
over knee boots and silk lingerie
>Didn't think combat was going to be that shallow
>Back to DS2
if pawn hiring worked, would you hire him /ddg/?
Went lvl 1-10 with fighter and 10-50 with assassin. Does it still make sense to switch to mystic knight or magic archer? I feel like I'm gonna completely lock myself out of anything magic related if I keep going assassin. Really afraid of losing my versatility and speed as well so if it's a stupid decision I might as well stick with Assasin. Thing is I want to play a different class on NG+ and you keep all your stats right? Any tips?
Give it time, there is plenty of bandit / rogue gear.
Thanks for the help, you guys.
I don't know, wouldn't risk it now
>useless nobleman's daughter who thinks she's a soldier because nobody tried telling her 'no'
>mfw /vg/ want someone just like them who thinks they're hardcore but is actually beta as fuck
Someone should alpha texture away that cape.
Do you mean these?
Anon I'm currently playing it on this, get on my level.
You'll be fine, if you're having fps problems just lower the resolution
and start squinting.
Didn't miss this asshole midget at all
he should have stayed on my PS3
I forgot to list it
I believe it's an intel 5500 hd graphics or someshit like that
The only thing it lacks that I know off hand is a large amount of dedicated video ram but as far as I know that shouldn't be a problem, right?
Case in point. Am I just bullying it too much?
Is there something wrong with Savage Strike or Indimitable Lash? It charges but no button combinations release the strike, I can only cancel the strike by pressing jump.
>her character arc is basically her coming to terms with her innate uselessness as a woman
>she returns to her homeland which is actually called 'Hearthstone'
>figuratively going back to the kitchen
Wow really subtle there Konami
>consult the wiki for a little bit of information about an early game enemy
>halfway through the paragraph describing the creature it suddenly mention details about the game's ending because the author felt the information was relevant
>tfw no idea what sort of vocation I actually want my pawn to be for the long run
>invest nothing into unlocking any new skills as a result
>almost level 30 and pawn is still a useless meatshield
>play on a lower resolution
screencap the rest of your settings or list them though
How much does overleveling ruin this game? Just got into everfall at lvl 34 because I've been running around doing side quests and exploring, was hitting the ogre so hard he just lied on his face and took it the whole fight, thinking about starting over, I just didn't want to miss out on content rushing the main quest.
Waifu'd her on my PS3 save. Goin for jew lady this time anyway. I'm more concerned about the quest rewards and the fact that it's a prereq for getting arisen's bond. Jew lady maxes ez anyway though now that I think about it.
Feste is just too next level for you kid
she's not good enough because she was never properly trained or shown how to fight against a real opponent but demanded she go out with the actual soldiers while dressing like one anyway and got away with it because of her family's status
at the end of her story she literally realises she was being a useless turd and goes home to be less useless
Question, what's the best place to get money early game? I'm trying to go for a sorcerer/magic knight build and I have to cram 5 levels of warrior in so I'm doing it from 10-15. I don't have enough money for a weapon so I'm running around punching stuff while my pawns do all the work.
Okay, Daimon doesn't want to drop any Bitterblack items when I changed to hard mode, over 10 runs and still nothing. On normal at least one form dropped one item to purify, does extra gold actually take spot from loot table?
>realizes her status as a noble means she's never really been challenged before in life
>goes back to her country and vows to return stronger and with actual support
Not true. There's some tricks here and there. Mainly it's main defensive tool being I-frames, and some moves can be used in reverse, cancelled halfway through, or on multiple enemies.
this is my arisen, i tried to make him look like a smug asshole, did i succeed?
she doesn't say she's coming back, she says she's going to send real fighters and not her romantic idea that random fucking mercs are the best soldiers because they get the shittiest jobs
Overleveling ruins everything. At your current pace, you'll get to the dragon and then shitpost on /v/ because you were "disappointed with how easy the final boss was", just like all the other autists who just can't understand the simple fact that the board quests are infinite and stupid to go out of your way to do.
Go BBI at level 40/50, that will be alright. (But most of the overworld is already ruined for you because you decided to go full autist.)
Who the fuck set the stats for these goddamn shield bandits?
You haven't live until you've put a game in a 800x600 window and zoomed in the screen to get a playable framerate on the toastiest of toasters.
Thanks. You might have given this goblin a brighter future.
>load game up
>controls are stuck moving to the left for some fucking reason
>can't even change options around
>can't even load a game
what the FUCK
>be the slayer of one hydra head
>champion of the wyrm hunt
>mystic knight extraordinaire
>I've done more for the people than any other individual in this town
>get an audience with the duke
>fuck yeah here we go time to join the big boy's club
>a freaky little midget shows me the way to the court room
>awh yeah this is gonna be awesome
>gonna be knighted and shit
>fuck yeah here we go
>everyone starts laughing
>little shit midget put a silly hat on my head
what the fuck
>that feeling of sharing a quiet moment alone with your lover
That's pretty good.
Please share sliders.
I went through that place about half an hour ago.
Jesus anon pay attention, how did you not notice him? They're not actually invisible, just kinda blurry.
Pay attention you doofus.
Oh well then I don't know. Restart the game, restart gamepad software. check gamepad software profiles for anything weird. etc.
AHK is something an anon posted about for easy combos. I'm not even remotely sure what it is. But it's likely an autofire script.
>going to the capital with my party
>it's night time
>a bandit party attacks us
>wolves out of fucking nowhere
>tank pawn dies in a convenient position where an archer is shooting arrows right above his body
>can't even see the fucking archer cause it's nighttime
I'll give him some work once rewards start working again, OP pawns will reduce my exp anyway which is good considering I haven't even done Fournival's trial yet.
Ty for giving Embla a whirl.
>tfw doing From A Different Sky fetch quests for RC cos I don't want to scum BBI chests
Short answer: It doesn't matter, do what you want.
Longer answer: Strictly speaking, it's better to go with EITHER physical damage OR magic, not both. You're not gonna "lock yourself out of anything" no matter what you do though. You could level 10-200 as assassin and still do pretty decent as a sorcerer, provided you have a decent weapon.
The way I do it is that I create two characters: One for magic, one for physical. Others prefer to create hybrids, that can do either job reasonably well. Bottom line is that it really doesn't matter unless you want to optimize (which you really don't need, it's just something to do if you've already completed the game multiple times already.)
>Pawn returns still broken
>Pretty sure everyone will get their stuff...
>But just to be sure they get stuff I haven't wanted to release my two pawns
>Embla and Elizee gonna get hooked up
Nothing like taking a level 11 Strider out to Soulflayer Canyon.
AHK is short for AutoHotKey which is a scripting program for inputs. Some other anon setup a bunch of shortcuts for tricked out KB&M controls, I slapped together a small script to utilize the 360 controller's guide button for hotkeys.
Pretty neat program if you're willing to learn some scripting. Or willing to download whatever someone else setup.
Problem I found was that my pawn kept activating her taunt when the saurians were mid-leap at me, which would make the camera zoom in on her for slow motion. Which gave the saurians enough time to skewer me while I couldn't see what I was doing and didn't dare dodge for fear of rolling into the water.
Three times it happened.
Everyone fucking hates you anyway sempai
You're imposing on an established power system populated with corrupt ambitious individuals
If you're a threat to that order you better watch your back nigga
>ctrl+f unused track
So, did anyone put this in their game yet? I can't into hex editing, so if anyone's done it already I'd much appreciate a link so I could put it in the game.
Pausing can be brutal, you are forgiven.
Yikes that sounds awful.
Those camera zooms do more harm than good. There's probably a way to disable them, but I don't want to for some reason, even though they're just a hassle.
>Okay but still fun
I'm finding it really handy personally. Ensnaring tough enemies so my pawns can dogpile them, doublejumping around on monsters shanking them in the sensitive parts. It's a good life.
>getting triggered over /v/ vernacular
Oh please, I'm just telling you the truth. Sidequests should mostly be ignored because they are essentially infinite, yield mediocre rewards and WILL lead to overleveling. Just follow the main quest and do some side quests if you happen to pass by on your way there.
Sounds like a keyboard problem anon
Come on now.
It's fun, tried it a bit on ps3, and there's an anon that posts a webm of his MK riposting arrows.
It takes skill to get the timings right, same with warrior. I'd say everything is fun.
Barely pure on fun factor:
>time for new pawns
>hot grills everywhere
>my guy is a fat jorah mormont looking guy
my PC is the grill
It has been 2 days and my pawn still wasnt hired
NPCs revive after like a week in-game. I'd recommend going offline, and then continually resting until he's back. (Offline because then it takes less time/doesn't need to check with the server.)
Hopefully pawn rewards are just stuck in transit. I found an Evil Eye manual out in Soulflayer Canyon (literally why) so everyone's just been getting copies of those as their novelty gift.
I like your pawn alot by the way, I like the idea of just having this tall shadow of a sorceror looming over you.
Autismo, Duke Backstabberson, Feste, Asalam and Ser Berne
I had problems like that too but on several occasions not for seems to be your first occurrence.
I had a shit razer keyboard though. It was manufacturing problems. Do you have a razer?
new keyboard in pic, Ducky Shine 5
Man, the hype of having this version in game would kill me. I'm already ecstatic at just having Into Free back in the title screen.
Does anyone have a .flac of Into Free?
