Guys should I watch Beagle's entire stream or should I just watch videos?

Also, what's the cheapest card that can play this game? I have an old 9600GT but it needs a Pixel Shader 5.0 videocard
>>
repostan for anon

from memory excuse me if any of this is wrong
SQ. = Squadsight
CPL = Long Watch (Squadsight Overwatch) or Return Fire (Shoot Revolver at first enemy who attacks you each turn)
SGT = Deadeye (ACTIVE ABILITY: Trade a fraction of your aim for a large damage boost on a single shot) or Lightning Hands (ACTIVE ABILITY: Shoot your pistol for free once)
LT = Death from Above (Killing an enemy with your sniper rifle while higher than them only costs one action instead of both, allowing you to move or reload or hunker or shoot your pistol or do ANYTHING after that kill) or Quickdraw (Shooting your pistol as your first action no longer ends your turn)
CPT = Killzone (ACTIVE ABILITY: Giant aiming cone which you place over a section of the map, you now covering fire reaction shot against EVERY enemy in that cone who does anything as long as you can see them. Squadsight included even if you didnt' take Long Watch) or Faceoff (ACTIVE ABILITY: Shoot once at every single enemy you can see with your pistol. EVERY ONE. EVEN IF THERE'S TWENTY OF THEM)
MAJ = Steady Hands (+10 Aim and +10 Crit if you didn't move last turn) or Take Aim (+20 Aim to your next turn every time you Hunker Down)
COL = Serial (ACTIVE ABILITY: Every kill you make while active refunds your actions, allowing you to kill again and again. Does not require enemy to be exposed like ITZ did. Combo with Superior Autoloader and E-Mags to rek 18 aliens in one turn) or Fan Fire (ACTIVE ABILITY: Shoot an enemy three times with your pistol in one action)
>>
So if there's a way to share your custom soldier designs with people, how will we as a group be able to share them? Codes or do we have to be friends on Steam in order to do so? Or is it all stored into a server at Firaxis and we get them at random?
>>
>>128767274
Pretty sure they said it's just generic file sharing, though I assume there's some standardized way through Steam workshop or whatever. They said the soldier pool is just a file and each soldier is like 2kb so it's hardly intensive

Apocalypse wasn't that bad. Localizing the game to a single city had a lot more potential for investigating infiltration and so on.

Also call him a bleeding heart faggot, and no he can't 'save them', the filthy alien sympathizer.
>>
>>128774736
The art style is atrocious and it basically does nothing better than OpenXCOM but a slightly more intuitive interface. No psionics, all the aliens are blatant clones from UFO Defense but feel utterly generic compared to UFO-D's more memorable designs (even for the most generic shit like Sectoids). It's the type of game where you periodically just stop and wonder why you're playing it instead of something else (OpenXCOM in this case).

Super practical actually. Take Aim is amazing regardless of sharpshooter type. It's 20 aim after a hunker down.

>Run Gunslinger up near a pod
>Hunker down
>Next turn
>Lightning-Hands Free Pistol shot
>Quick Draw Fire Pistol
>Face-Off
>All of this with +20 aim

It's actually an amazing ability to amplifies snipers to be the point I can't imagine why you would take the other perk. It works just as well with Sniper Sharpshooters because 20 aim is 20 aim.

That is true. They seem to be fairly powerful if you spec your sharpshooter right.

that also sounds really good. total war used to have this "drop in" campaign option in which you could search for human players to play as the ai during a battle, but it was a toggleable option so you could chose to take part in that or not. they could pretty much do it exactly like that and just have some multiplayer option to play to search for any games in progress, join them and play as the aliens. it would be great, now im making myself sad cause i know it probably won't ever happen.

This was a part of his livestream, without editing the ini. It was boring as hell, because all his missions get a perfect flawless rating, expect one, where a rookie got wounded.

Compared with other streams, he got no advanced enemies in may and some HP of the enemies are too low. Additional, he edited the clear-up-times, so he got this resources and the buildings faster than it should.

So plot so far: The aliens are terraforming the planet. Presumably to convert Earth into something they're more familiar with.

Prior to the invasion they've seeded several drinking water sources with a bug/nanobot that allows them to control the organism that ingested it, humans included. These humans can then be "activated" to do their bidding, and after they've done whatever the invaders wanted them to do, they enter a deactivated state where they relive the last several minutes of their active state.

For humans who ingested the bug weren't activated, they develop flu-like symptoms until they begin to repeat the last few minutes of their behavior indefinitely until they waste away or starve to death

This website exists for a reason.

Honestly though chances are no, XCOM 2's lowest requirements are about the same as EU/EW's recommended/high end requirements.

The game don't explain many things well, foremost not how to play the strategy layer well.
I watched many Xcom 2 videos too and it's almost the same there too. I bet many people lose their first game, because they didn't raid ADVENT facilities, because they didn't build the communication uplinks to expand an reach the facilities in time.
Instead they will scan every supply drop they see, and waste tons of time.

>>
>>128793868
at what FPS and what settings?
i play xcom EW at 10-15 fps on this laptop
>>
>>128793701

I saw some EW streams too and sadly people often don't read what they researched. For example, they see the picture of a laserweapon and it's header and after research they instantly try to build it. They miss so many stuff or forget them seconds later, it's hilarious.
But Xcom is all about a learning, so it's ok.
>>
>>128794137

>>
>>128799562
Does your GPU actually consistently overheat or something? The 650 is significantly better than the 460, it should be able to run TW Rome II on medium without much trouble - I find it hard to believe it can't run XCOM2 on minimum.
>>
>>128799562
your GPU is closer to the Recommended than the Minimum for X2. don't trust CYRI at all, it vastly underestimates specs and tells almost everybody to upgrade if they're not running the game all maxed at 120 FPS
>>
>>128799132
Dude, those "Can I run it?" sites are always bullshit, for one reason

The system requirments for games are pure bullshit

They always suggest shit like i-7 cpu's for example, when that doesn't even effect fucking performance

Can you run it?
Yes, of course you fucking can

Can you run it at 60 fps?
You find out, look up benchmarks for games and see for yourself

But from what I heard XCOM 2 does have some hefty slow down when lot's of destruction is going on

But considering that it uses the literal same engine as EU and EW, it shouldn't be hard to assume you will be able to run it at a reasonable setting, if you were able to do that in EU

Fuck those sites, fuck recommended system specs

Next operation, time to grab an artifact

While it's heavily advised to have an A-team around, the game also suggests you level everyone in the roster because there are dispatch missions that you cannot go on. Some can only be completed by experienced agents.
>>
>>128797096
>>128798558
>>128799132

I am in 91st percentile but most games say minimum what the fuck. Since when did i7's fucking become recommended? Here I thought I'd buy a freesync monitor and SSD but nope looks like I have to upgrade.
>>
>>128800179
Recommended specs afaik literally mean 'you can run this shit on maximum at 120fps' or some bullshit.
I mean look at Fallout4's recommended specs:
>i7 4790
>8 gigs of RAM for some inane reason
>a fucking 780
I ran it on high at 50 fps with a 760M.
>>
>>128800328
Stop listening to the fucking sites, i7s don't help game performance.
What's your gfx card? Literally anything but entry-level cards and extremely olde shit will run it perfectly fine

>>

i7 is a trap for people who are just getting into making a pc for gaming

I can't count how many people bought an i7 for games and than realized it does literaly fucking nothing

A i5-4440 for example can handle any, and I do mean any graphics card you can get without bottlenecking it

It's cheap too
I mean you could even go weaker than that and be good
>>

So it looks like we have actual prisoners. Ayyyyyyyyyyyy

Also Vahlen 0.5 aka Dr. Dresden was an ex-Nazi scientist. Upon interview he stated that he had no hand in any of the more inhumane experiments conducted, but he had no choice but to continue working for the Nazi party in order to support his family. Also, the alternative would've been to work for the Communists.

You also get to fuck with the scientists.

That's where the Lift ability came from.
>>
>>128809473
There are a lot of things you can do differently, so there's no definitive guide.

Always start with the xenobio research because it unlocks corpse requests that give scientists. Mainstream advice is to go for advanced beam after that to shore up your airgame, but there's other options.

Make sure you have some source of HEAT by month 3, to deal with cyberdisks. Common choices are HEAT gunners or HEAT rocketeers. HEAT grenades are also useful.

Workshops are very important for getting the most out of your alloys, which you will lack and you will need for almost everything. They aren't mandatory to build at the very start though. Labs speed up research, again, not mandatory immediately. This really is a matter of choices.

Really if you're coming from classic you'll probably get beat up more by the tactical layer and the culture shock of losing people and entire missions and continuing than by any unfamiliarity with the strategy.

Watching ChristopherOdd's class preview videos now. When he uses Rapid Fire, I notice the Assault attacks, sits back down in cover for a second, and then goes through the whole attacking cinematic again, making the whole thing take like 8 seconds. Plus there's a delay with a lot of things - moving back to cover after attacking, smug "haha fuck aliens" lines after kills, and such. That's just an issue with the preview copy, right?

And last picture of the day.

The Outsiders/Zudjari are led by a being named Mosaic, who communicates directly to them via an implant in the head. Looks like the Skeleton Key/Advent Implant taken out of the Commander.

Removing the implant from captive infiltrator rendered him docile, even morose. Like the fight was taken out of him.

Mission objective now is to interrogate him if possible.

I like it for the aesthetics and the little touches that form the lore. Main plot leaves a bit to be desired...I mean you end up assaulting a base and figuring out the true enemy but that's kind of how XCOM is right?

It can get tactical but most of it is learning how to draw fire by breaking LOS aggroand not getting your fellow agents killed because they tend to die in a few shots. Early game is the hardest even in the Bureau.

Perfect AI in a strategy game will never be really attainable really. Even if the devs think they made it, players will exploit something they never really thought of. Take Beagle and his putting his characters at a point to trigger the concealment overwatch on the enemy's turn instead of his own. The devs constantly do it on their turn and that is how they tuned the ai, to respond to how they play. Though Firaxis has said they have tweaked the balance since the preview build and legendary is going to much harder.

>>
>>128835901
No, he's talking about leading pods into overwatch traps. Basically, if you do what the developer intended aka put all your team into overwatch and then activate them in order to trigger everyone's OW and then it's the alien's turn

What Beagle is doing instead is that instead of having the last guy shooting the pod, he places him right where the patrol will walk to, exploiting the fact that the AI can't use the scamper move to shoot the exposed guy. So he gets an entire round of OW shots and then its HIS turn. Obviously this strat won't work if the pod has itchy trigger tentacle that just shoots the bait
>>
>>128834284
I would imagine a mod that would make them activate and stand there but then get their two moves before their turn ends.
That would fix the whole 'ambush' exploit
>>
>>128777661
>split timeline

Humanity lost in the Firaxis timeline. Accept it.
>>
>>128835730
There is a certain point where you are just making the game trivial and removing the fun of the game. That is why beagle modded in more soldiers in a pod so his strategy wouldn't trivialize the game.
>>128835901
The devs were kind of blind to the strategy that beagle uses. To them breaking concealment was always done on you turn with an overwatch trap sprung by shooting. They never really thought of letting a pod patrol into you. To them that didn't seem tactically sound and just never really thought of it. It is like the Aztecs had mill stones, but never thought to turn them on their side to use them as wheels.

>>128767139

Unless you're holding out for a video rundown of their abilities, which should probably be out before Monday since he seems to be posting them every other day.
>>
>>128836068
Meh the issue with games like XCOM is that it's easy to exploit because of the extra mechanics given to AI that give them a boost.

A dedicated team writing their own ruleset and AI would have no trouble making something that always makes the winning move and is impossible to win against.

But that's not fun.
>>
>>128810289
I pre ordered the deluxe edition on Steam. I'm hoping there's at least a one day pre load of the game so I can download the 50 GB of data before it unlocks.
>>
>>128836541
It's a concession that they had to make to prevent noobs from being completely slaughtered every time a pod patrols into them. If aliens didn't use their free move to get into cover and instead use it to inflict maximum damage, this baiting strat won't work and 50% of the fanbase would rage quit every time they didn't watch the flank.

The easiest solution I think is to give pod leaders the ability to call for reinforcements immediately on discovery. They are easy to kill if you initiate the ambush but using the baiting strat means that you invite more trouble if you don't wipe out the whole pod.

Gunslinger abilities only work on the assumption that their revolvers have infinite ammo though. If a LW balancing mod comes around, then it will probably have to rework the tree. I would prefer getting more +CRIT% and damage abilities though, assuming that revolver does low damage but has 6 ammo and high chance to crit.

I still can't understand how people are upset that their EU/EW victory was wasted.
Were people upset from Halo 1 how they blew up the Halo and saved humanity but then later on just find another?
Why are people such entitled 'I win' faggots nowadays.
>>
>>128837065
Plus if enemy pods just go full self aware in how expendable they are it'd just be an endless fest of trying to get a perfect flank. Things that take up way too much time considering how quick most of the missions tend to go.
>>
>>128837394

>>
>>128837394
