Doing my first hardmode playthrough, how much damage and armor should I have by the point I take on The Destroyer?

As much as you can if it is your first time. Craft adamantite or titanium armor and get weapons that pierce. The head hits for over 200 damage on expert.
Use the nimbus rod and the daedalus stormbow if you want to make it too easy.

There just isn't a whole lot to talk about right now. There haven't been any spoilers in a while, there's no new content to discuss, we know all the strategies and have all the items, there aren't any mods worth discussing. Hell, none of our resident artists are producing anything.

I'm playing it with some friends right now.
We're all having fun using things we've never used before. I'm using the fossil armor set and Javelins from the Hoplites as well as Frost Minnows I've fished up. Probably gonna use them against WoF once we get there, too.

Thinking of trying a custom map for regular play, since I've seen everything the worldgen has to offer.

Make a proper little dock with fishing stuff and a slightly more detailed boat, but still almost as small as this one.
