-10.4 NOT TODAY
-Browser/Menuhax both work on the latest firmware again. DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew!
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works with every firmware including 10.3.
-Gateway v3.7 adds 10.3 emuNAND support for New 3DS
-Rei, mid-kid, and the rxTools team are developing 10.3 builds as well
-Smea started working on hax 3.0
>Is downgrading safe?
Safe as it gets for now. Most bricks seem to be people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the process.
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far.
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-It would appear Yellows8's .mp4 exploit has not been patched in 5.5.1
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
Can't help being a jew you know? I fucking hate how much price they put for DLC characters in smash
>MFW now I can play as roy my boy
Yeah I'm happy
how do I install tinyformat? I copied the tinyformat folder in the 3DS folder but it didn't appear on the homebrew launcher
HBL > miniPasta > HBL > TinyFormat
So I run minipasta in HBL
Minipasta then I boot back to HBL then run Tinyformat?
I just installed FBI on sysnand over H&S but it just refuses to run up. am i hosed?
>I'm on a far off third world country
get a better life senpai
Shit nigger, this is my first sorry attempt at CFW and I am retarded.
I just thought that I needed to upgrade to 9.2 because the browser exploit isn't working (that's what the guide told me to do), so I ran rxTools via MSET and installed FBI to install sysUpdater. I am on 4.2.0-9E.
Apparently there's gay marriage with some dude named zero if you're male
No idea for the female but why? not even asking because of the gender pairing but they literally forced themselves to make that dialogue even work, cringey
Like Pairing Severa and Gerome was the most weirdest shit since she's all happy and annoying the fuck out of gerome and no tsundere anywhere like a true maiden in love
>Playing with japs
I did this in demon's souls, Never seen the most try hard people and trying to abuse lag
Threadly reminder that there are people on this general, RIGHT NOW, that are even dumber than this.
This is why I thank god for /hbg/ I managed to downgrade my 3ds following instructions without having to know shit about it all. I still don't get what I've done other than "emulate a os on your sd card".
The 3 things you did were:
- Downgrade from latest firm to 9.2 official so you can hack
- Prepare EmuNAND so you can autoboot into an emulated version of your OS for safety. This includes unlinking NANDs and restoring your NNID
- Inject a CIA installer (FBI, Dev Menu, BBM...) so you can install games and get it running
And that's pretty much it. Doing any of that is easier said than done if you are dumb/using a shit guide/etc unless you happen to get a good guide/compatible setup from the getgo
Anyway, all HBL .3dsx apps are stored in SD:/3ds/<filename>/<filename>.3dsx
Can a kind anon guide me to a tutorial for converting .3ds to .cia?
put picture in SD:/3ds/menuhax_manager/imagedisplay.png and run it to install it. Image res/placement should match what >>128757028
has. left/right are for 3D, dunno how it works
Was wondering if any anon could help with my situation.
Basically while hacking an o3DS I ran across a few issue where rxTools is unable to boot into emuNand. Everything I had read said that this was a issue with menuhax being installed on both the Sys and Emu. Along with just not using the tigger during the later half of the boot would fix this.
This did not work for me as my menuhax are set to only go into sys while a button is pressed. So after some testing I removed menuhax and manually did the browser exploit again which allowed the device into the bootmanager, and ultimately rxTools could boot into emu.
The entire process had to be triggered manually and reinstalling menuhax causes emuNand to refuse to boot and just cycles back to the bootmanager. Any fixes?
Alright, I had yet to get that far in my guide. My 2DS did not have this issue before so its jsut odd.
Should I just manually trigger browserHax and follow the guide until unlinking. Then only after they are unlinked reinstall menuhax on the sys?
Not that anon.
But, aside from requiring region-spoofed roms, what's functionally wrong with Cakes?
It boots, it loads, it runs. May not be as fast as reinand starting up but they're both paths to the same n3ds 10.3 exit.
I'm using this guide and I don't know if I'm on the right track
On this step:
Just place the relevant files for your system on your SD card. For every .here file on your SD card you should have the real file next to it. Once done you can safely delete the .here files. To review: firmware.bin and firmkey.bin both go in the /cakes folder. Now launch Cakes through the homebrew launcher, and hopefully you get to a menu. Go to "Select Patches" and check "Enable emuNAND" as well as "Disable signature checks". Now Boot your CFW.
Welcome to emuNAND. Protip: make a new folder right now so you can tell when you're in emuNAND or not. Cakes does not yet tell you which NAND you're in.
If I'm on emuNAND its supposed to say RX9.2.0 right? I think I'm not going through emuNAND since I'm still seing Ver9.2.0 after that boot.
>get up to unlinking nands and then install cias to sysnad because I'm a retard
>see FE:if could have amiibo support and try to update to 9.5
>have to downgrade again and find everything on emunand and my saves are okay
>this time, do it right and my emunand bricks
>the last time I backed up my emunand was before I even installed the cias
>keep trying to bring back my apps but nothing works
>have to reinstall everything again
THAT I COULD TURN BACK TIME
BUT NOW THE GUILT IS ALL MINE
>You may also want to update your emuNAND to be newer than your sysNAND
If you're on an O3DS, you can just go to System Settings from emuNAND and update. If you're on an N3DS, as of recently you can also update through the System Settings. Just make sure you get the proper firmware.bin file as well as slot0x11key96.bin if you do update.
I don't know what this is talking about, or what slot0x11 is? Can I skip this if I want to just play CIAs? sorry english is not my first language
It's talking about just that. Updating your EmuNAND so that you aren't stuck on 9.2. slot0x11key96.bin is a key that was recently dumped that allows firmware >=9.6 on N3DS and it's necessary if you want that.
If you don't care for eShop access and got FW spoofed CIAs, then you can stay on 9.2.
I have been personally making few actually 3D ones. Do mind that these are not crosseye stereograms even if they are made from one since 3DS images are flipped from crosseye format, so you see reversed 3D effect, which from image this small you think has no 3D at all.
Isn't it easier to just fucking use different themes for each Nand? my sysnad has default white one without shit
whereas my emunand has the black default one and expanded to see all Apps on it
Well, there's the "safe" downgrader which checks CIA integrity, but I don't think corrupted CIAs is the cause for the softbricks, so at the end of the day I don't think anything has changed.
He posts without then posting an image...
>3) Put the Rxtools.3DSX of the extracted zip in the 3DS SDcard root
This is confusing me. The actual root or the 3DS folder on the root?
That's what I figured, thanks. That alone can cause so many problems goddamn. I notice from 3 guides I read that eventually lead up to the same goal but have particular tutorials needed from each guide to gain that goal, one false move and so many fuck ups happen.
Whenever I try to install a custom theme on emuNAND via CHMM2 I get this error
>Error:[string "?"]:111: cannot initialize Sound Module -CHMM2
I read online and found out that I have to run Rinnegatamante's DSP Firmware Dumper via homebrew once in order to fix this error but when I put the firmware dumper on my SD root card it doesn't show up in homebrew. Any help?
Some advice needed.
I am going to be getting a larger SD card, but due to the threat of nintendos 10.4 update went ahead with a 4g SD card just to secure the process.
What do I need to do to convert the work over to the new SD card when I get it.
I hate to think this may have actually happened, but I guess some people that speak english as their second language might make such a mistake.
yeah. I went super slow when I did mine, out of fear I might read a line wrong and fuck it all up.
comment (or rate if you want) my setup:
Rxtools (sysnand 9.2 and emunand 10.3)
ctrboot (to rxtools)
big blue menu
also no gba emu since i hear you need to rip
the old firm and install v2 with fbi, and i am too scared to tweak anything
I'll release it very soon. Have patience, it'll be worth it. It's way better than the shitty downgraders so far that bricks like 30% of the consoles.
>using the default gridlauncher theme
>not using the newlauncher theme
>not using a good custom icon pack
you fucking imbecile, you need to put the dumper on the 3ds folder, not the root
I'm surrounded by fucking idiots, holy shit
autoboot (official build, others were compiled unofficially) and it also generates the key instead of relying on slotkey or whatever
basically, you probably won't care if you already had it running autoboot
Do you understand how homebrew works? How can you be this retarded, it's just like any other homebrew app. You need the dumper application's .3dsx/.smdh to be in the /3ds folder or in its own folder in the /3ds folder.
I used the retard guide first so I was expecting some RX 9.20 or something.
Can someone clarifythis. So in Cakes, if update to 10.3 do I still need the key or something? I can't access his megashare link for the slot0x11key96.bin. Also, is there a way to downgrade the EmuNAND9 from Cake?
So I got it all set up now so no buttons launches straight into emunand. Now I confused myself in which I don't know which button I hold on start up if I wanna go to HBL. Which is it?
>Took a week to get Triforce Heroes working on 9.2 with online and update.
>All this talk about Nintendo blocking online once the new firmware comes out.
What a waste of time downgrading was.
Is what I would say if I didn't have Fantasy Life, MHX, and Rune Factory 4 to be COMFY AS FUCK WITH. But seriously, when Final Fantasy Explorers come out, they'd better spoof it.
It's fine. I'm just sick of answering the same fucking questions every fucking day.
At the same time I don't want to leave people in the dark if I can help them.
Yeah I'm a fucking idiot. You're welcome.
>if update to 10.3 do I still need the key or something
If you're on an N3DS, yes.
>Also, is there a way to downgrade the EmuNAND9 from Cake?
Instead of downgrading EmuNAND, you'll want to make a backup of it with EmuNAND9 and just restore it if you break it.
Almost done, but FBI is still giving me INVALID SIGNATURE even though I followed the FAQs, and enabled security checking. I even enable the other option next to it just in case. It won't let me install cias at all.
Try out different sysupdaters, I've been stuck on that error for the longest time, even tried out other sysupdaters.
Try this one, I got my luck with this sysupdater.
If there were just two files I couldn't back up (my sd card would stop working whenever I tried to move some bigger files), and I ignored it, would that interfere with installing CFW and cias?
I figured it was jsut one of my downloaded games and didn't care. I thought I could delete that whole folder and be okay, so i didn't sweat two files.
...so can I use the eShop to update CIA games? N3DSXL on Rei 10.3 here.
10.3 is recent and still in development. The only downside is that out of region DLC can't be used until NTR updates for 10.3 support. Reinand, Gateway and Cakes are currently the only three CFWs that support 10.3 emunand, but RxTools is on its way.
Otherwise, use 9.5 rxtools and stack NTR on top of it, then use "cryptofixed" roms if the game requires 9.6+ FW to play
You are missing something. Something that pretty much everyone has been discussing since it was released like 4 days ago. N3DS keys were found and now we have 10.3 EmuNAND. Currently ReiNAND (and Cakes I think) have a working build. rxTools is developing one that will be out soon.
There are like 80000 tutorials on GBATemp and the 3dshacks reddit. Just google it. It's easy.
sony's security people arnt total fucking retards like the nintendo security people.
the only reason downgrading works right now is because some fucking idiot coder forgot to do a checksum after a memory write.
Hey, I just made a big fucking NTR folder with a lot of IDs for USA, EUR and JPN games. Drag and drop to your root and then install the .cia to launch NTR.
There you go.
Yes it does include the plugin for Fire Emblem If Special/Nohr/Hoshido and I think Invisible Kingdom too.
Yes it does include the plugin for Hyrule Warriors Legends Demo.
So far, I don't have any problems playing what I need to, so I'll stick to 9.2
That, and I followed a guide so focused to the letter, that I wouldn't know how to update RXTools even if I -did- want to update!
Thanks for the heads up, guess I missed that one.
I see. Well, I'll stick with what I've got until they confirm some stable upgrade means. I'm not wanting to break my lucky shot in downgrading...
I got a 32 gig SD yesterday to replace the 4 gig that came with the 3ds. Now, whenever I boot in Cakes my 3ds reboots to the bootmenu for Cakes/Pasta/Homebrew Menu
What the fuck do I do to fix this?
>brobably fucked up specs though
fuck yeah you did. holy shit.
>CTR-001 instead of KTR-001 (or RED-001 for an XL)
>Quad-core ARM9 when it's single-core (and a capitalization inconsistency)
>1G NAND instead of 2G
you say use cryptofixed roms as if their rare.
any rom download you find that says (RF) is cryptofixed.
so basically all of them
because removing the segments of the 3ds file that involving region blocking also including firmware restrictions
you cant brick anything when updating/changing your cfw as its done in/to emunand
use the op guide
Nothing wrong with staying on 9.2 until you start seeing compatibility issues/a sudden lack in cryptofixed roms over time, which will probably happen as 10.3 gets older+more developed
Updating rxtools is as easy as replacing your /rxTools/ folder with the new files. This is assuming you are already using the nightly version (aka you don't have rxtools.dat on root and can autoboot)
Of course, you'd have to wait until people confirm the official latest nightly working for O3DS/N3DS EmuNAND 10.3, because there's too many fucking builds of rxtools right now to even tell what works anymore.
yes, why not?
>any rom download you find that says (RF) is cryptofixed.
I don't think this is true. part of the reason you may think that is because cryptofixing only applies to eshop games. If you've ever had to navigate to an eshop page to get a game to work, that's a situation where you'd need cryptofixing. I believe it does require an extra step when decrypting but I've never actually done it.
>Updating rxtools is as easy as replacing your /rxTools/ folder with the new files. This is assuming you are already using the nightly version (aka you don't have rxtools.dat on root and can autoboot)
Well, I currently do have my n3DS on what I thought was the latest nightly, and it starts if I don't press anything (Themehax override). Works great, no issues with what I'm playing (Rhythm Tengoku, EX Troopers, MHX) at all, save for a minor issue that's solved by closing my 3DS shut then opening it. 3D slider's scrambled if I don't do that otherwise.
Sounds good then. Standing by.
Okay, after wasting the whole night for downgrading, installing CFW and getting into the whole stuff I still have a few questions of general understanding:
The emunand is like a emulated 3DS just with custom firmware stuff, right? Lets say I want to change said CFW, how does it work? I did everything from that guide:
And while doing that shit I also had to rename boot.3dsx into bhbl.3dsx, which confuses me a bit. Why exactly "bhbl? If I want to change to rxtools, do I have to do more or can I still throw it into my root? I doubt it since there seems to be a file where I have to add rxtools then.
My second question would be: Say I update my emunand to 10.3, would I be stuck with reinand until rxtools gets an update to run with 10.3? And what are the beenfits I had other than accessing eshop and the ability to do anything else that would come with the latest OFW? It sounds to me like its the same thing we had with the PSP and CFW, where all CFWs got an update to get recognized as the latest CFW. Are there certain 3DS games for example that only work with certain OFWs? I remember that on PSP newer games needed to be patched to run on CFW thats based on old OFW. Is it the same on the 3DS now?
i succesfully downgraded an o3ds to 9.2, however i cant get into homebrew anymore.
I tried holding L for menuhax at boot, nothing, browserhax wont load it either..
Already removed browserdata etc but still nothing... wut do?
So I am getting ready to upgrade to a larger SD card. Just need clarification on the steps.
What I assume I need to do is:
1 - Backup the SD card to computer
2 - Use EmuNAND9 to dump both the emuNAND and sysNAND, then backup.
3 - Then start the format with the new card.
4 - Place emuNAND.bin in the root and push it back into the devices emuNAND.
That about cover it?
Any good small games? 100-400 MB like terraria or smth.
>compatibility issues/a sudden lack in cryptofixed roms over time, which will probably happen as 10.3 gets older+more developed
No FW version to date has added new features that are required to run games, as in new functions the game uses frequently, not just something thats called once at the games boots and never again.
and we have the keys for cryptofixing for the any game that will work on a 3ds/n3ds because of reinand guys.
as long as you have an up to date seeddb youll be able to cryptofix
as someone who actually cryptofixes games thats exactly how it works, region locking and fw restrictions are entirely anti piracy/other bullshit issues and are not real restrictions, at the beginning of a 3ds file there are hex bits that contain markers designating which firmware and which region the game is for, when the 3ds loads the game after install it looks for these bits and if they dont match the system goes into kernel-panic and you have to restart the system, but because, like with every way around their security, nintendo is retarded the system doesnt give 2 shits if that data is just gone (well not gon, just replaced with 00) and will boot the game perfectly.
another thing of note is the bits for spoofing are higher then the bits for RF, so if you removed the bits for RF you've removed the bits for spoofing, and the cool thing is these are always the same length, and always end at the same line, and this is a hardware crypto thing so they cant really just make the bits shorter/longer for every game.
some RF cia's (for example in the pinned thread on 3dsiso in the cia section, the Ace combat (RF) game isnt cryptofixed completely) arnt always cryptofixed, but this only happens if you remove the RF bits by hand and leave the FW bits alone.
but the most popular tools (like simple cia converter) strip them all.
By the end of this guide will there be any cias I CAN'T play?
Because if it's not US, I just NTR right?
And if it is US, I should be fine no matter what firmware I'm at because I've downgraded and am using Cakes CFW right?
Sysupdater is always unstable, but new version at least doesn't delete EVERYTHING before installing firmware. You can try safesysupdater, but it still has the same code, it just checks cia's
>follow guide, skip the update at the end because who cares about eshop access
>3ds autobooting to the menu, hold X to boot normally
>suddenly it's only booting normally
>none of the cias I installed like FBI and NTR are there
what the fucking shit man, I'm confused
That's not really what you did though. When you launch the exploit to enter in emuNAND (or better, redirected NAND), the console gets rebooted, with the exploit telling it to look in the SD card 1GB/2GB partition instead of the console's internal memory (NAND).
I'm at "Install HB Launcher App"
>3) Turn on the 3DS and go into emuNAND
>4) Open FBI or BigBlueMenu
do the guide mean rxtools settings? Cause I dont know where in the regular emuNAND system interface I'm supposed to open FBI or BigBlue
>skip a step
>none of the cias install
Just kill yourself. Seriously. If you can't be assed to follow simple steps in a guide without skipping, then have the balls to ask what you did wrong, just kill yourself.
but people here have specifically said it didn't matter:
I don't see how that step has anything to do with my installed CIAs being removed and menuhax not autobooting
>overcome my urge to buy another N3DS entirely for piracy
>fight it until the 11th
>10.4 still not out 5 days later
>see progress being made for N3DS, resolve begins to weaken
The worst part is that I know I'm being a fag, since that 200 dollars will get me 2 games that are better on other consoles and a few more frames in a few emulators with shit for compatibility, but the temptation is there anyway.
Question: I've installed browserhax and menuhax for downgrading my N3DS, can I play my legit games like MH4U online after the downgrade?
redo you boot.3dsx and boot.cfg stuff if your using ctr
all of these except ace combat are cryptofixed
these i did myself
im uploading xenoblade 3d right now (which is the only game every that has n3ds only functions)
I'm not big on fucking around with things that are valuable to me. Even if the chance of bricking is low, I'd rather have another, expendable option.
That's not limited to the 3ds, either. I make it a point to have a backup console before I do any modification, soft or hard, easy or otherwise.
10.4 isnt even out, and its very unlikely a fw update this soon is going to fix memchunkhax2 because its going to take a larger code rewrite
i got my monhun 4 there (cryptofix guy) and it works just fine on my 9.2 emunand n3ds, maybes its not RF, are you on rxtools or cakes?
So if I'm on 9.2, and I'm downloading Triforce Heroes RF, I just use FBI to install it right?
So then how do I play online, if I open the gift box by holding down X at boot? Isn't that not CFW territory anymore? Sounds like it'd either be unsafe or unable to play online
I had installed rxtools and ninjahax previously before this new exploit.
I'm currently on a 8.1 firmware.
Do I just follow the guide and update to 10.3 and then downgrade to 9.2? Would my 3DS be bricked for having fbi and ninjahax?
Actually you shouldnt have to.
First try this https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-transfer-emunand-to-another-sd-card-working-on-new3ds.383684/
If that doesnt work just try to backup your nands. start the format on the new card, and copy everything over and then clone your emunand back into the new card. Should work
So I'm the anon that originally claimed out of region Triforce Heroes isn't possible without a spoofed EmuNAND region.
Apparently I was wrong: use config.cia from the Nintendo SDK (search for that on 3dsiso or get it from a bigbluemenu pack or something) and use it to set the EULA to "FF FF"
Sorry for the confusion. Go ahead and play with JP players: https://mega.nz/#!aZ1HDI6I!2AbVIII5BiihunS38WJHQAQxni9j6rhnW3icNFhVZ2c
I'm also one of those autistic hoarder types who needs to have every option available. I'm the guy who has files from years ago tucked away in a folder "just in case" and finishes Pokemon with the same potions you're given at the beginning. I'd need to have both a virgin and CFW'd system.
Totally irrational, I know.
Anyone got some out of PAL region recommendations?
I have this and the rest like Laytons, Project X Zone, Zeldas, Pokémons, Megami Tenseis, Tales, FEs, Virtue's Reward either original or on my o3DS XL.
>set up menuhax so it launches when I don't hold L instead of the default option
>crashes all the time
is this a common bug with it? it's way more stable if I just hold L when turning on my 3ds
Am I the only here who actually bothers learning through trial and error? I mean holy shit dude I just made sure 100% to follow guide for the downgrade part so it wouldn't brick me
I successfully downgraded after trying many things such as downloading the firmware again, copy pasteing again, trying to launch HBL if it didn't work just try again, sysupdater wouldn't even run for me sometimes, finally got in and got it working after my 4th try
It's shit but that's about the most dangerous thing
After that you're 9.2 successful follow the emunand9 guide and fucking experiment yourself
I've got Cakes, RxTools, Reinand, Pasta and other shit at my disposal but only used Rx and Rei because still messing around
For example the part where I had to get sysnand with some signature shit I followed the guide but did not understand how the fuck that even worked, I WANT to learn what the fuck happened so next time I want to do this It doesn't seem like a complete new thing
Right now installing cias to run in my 3ds and next is savemanager and setting custom theme as well as changing the display for menuhax when booting
Is there a way to extract and import a specific save from an sd card backup?
By the way, on another 3DS, I've set up emuNAND
but I haven't gone through the unlinking steps YET the folder made in emuNAND isn't there in sysNAND
That, as well as screen brightness / battery saving mode are independent.
Are my NANDs actually unlinked, or?
you cant, its a race attack, if it mostly worked the code for running the program gui (loaded first) will be fine, but the later chunk for installing (loaded last) wont be, however its like a <1% chance because if the race attack fails the window is so small that it usually will load a handful of bytes or nothing at all.
But was it formatted/clean? I feel like all the games/saves play a part in the RNG, too.
But yeah, updating to 10.3 also helps with consistent downgrade results.
Also note that there is more than one version of sysupdater made by different people. Tux and Julian made the most popular-working ones, though. Julian's is the safer of the two because it writes to NATIVE_FIRM last.
its <1%, and no, since its installing into sysnand, so if something goes wrong the system is gone, buts its a really tiny window so if it fails it will 99.9% of the time not start nasa at all, its literally a 2 lines of code window.
Yeah dunno then. Either it's people who have used their 3DSes for ages, some file a certain number of people happened to have, or has nothing to do with it at all.
But it's really weird, because those same people tried downgrading several times and it only worked when they caved in and chose to format.
I hope nobody else has to do that, though. I've also seen people try 100+ times before it finally worked, doing nothing else different but persistent resets.
So in my process of hacking my o3ds and various other things. I ended up with 3 folders inside the Nintendo 3DS folder.
I know one is SysNAND and I am assuming the other two are different versions of EmuNAND.
Just curious if there was a way in system UI I could make an item that would reflect and show me which of the folders is obsolete.
Otherwise I may just ignore the folders as I do not think the existance of the third will actually do anything.
I think the vast majority of bricks are related to using the wrong files or batteries running out. Haven't seen a case where we can say with certainty nothing wrong happened on the side of the user and they still bricked.
You can try looking at the folder's size and creation date.
I don't get it, what's so special about this
Is it because it looks like some shit outta windows 98? retro? I honestly never been a weeb or animeshitter but want to use anime grill themes as my power up display
its purely theoretical, even people who use the old fbi with memchunks2 never reported anything after 180 pages, its a really tiny windows, the nasa loader has to write shit in the memory the system wrote between the system loading something into memory and the system reading it.
which is 2 lines of code.
edited date is pretty much the best way, do something in emunand and look for the most recently changed folder, the other 2 are 1 of the munands and the sysnand.
Actually yah, While looking I think the 3rd folder was just created because I upgraded the SD card, and EmuNAND9 autocreated the folder for the new emuNAND which I ended up replacing with a dumped version.
My 3DS is still on firmware Ver 7.1.0-16E. What are my options?
only download and install "legit" cia's if the downloader is trustworthy looking, IE pinned on 3dsiso or something.
if you somehow managed to install a non legit cia itd brick your system, on the other hand installing a non legit cia should be inpossible with nasa because nasa is working inside arm11 and not arm9
Where the FUCK do I find EU game updates? Im on the verge of installing 10.3 emunand just to update my games on eshop because I cant find fucking game updates no matter where I look. Doesnt help that I dont really know which games even have updates. But since I dont know if any features get lost on 10.3 reinand I dont want to do this either. Its like a lose lose situation right now.
My unhacked 3DS is 8.1.0. Do I update now before they come out with a fix? Or can I get started with everything I have now?
Okay, I'll keep trying.
Anything I should keep in mind; such as, "it works better using ___hax" or "before running NASA turn off wi-fi and do ___ first"?
Also, if it doesn't load instantly and just gives me a black screen, can I just reset without waiting for something to happen?
I finally managed to get Shovel Knight as a test cia running
So what's the preferred method of moving to a new SD card, emuNAND Tool or using a partition manager?
Also, will my emuNAND created with Gateway software work properly with one created using emuNAND9, or should I just stick with what I used before?
its a race attack, the term is literal, NASA is racing again the ARM9 processor to overwrite a segment of memory after the ARM9 writes said memory but before it reads said memory so it can load arbitrary code.
the timing window between loading and read is 2 lines of code.
and no you can do any tricks, you could theoretically slow down the arm9 processor with extra processes, but the arm9 can only run process9 so thats impossible.
I followed the "Injecting GBA Titles" paste completely and now injected GBA games only work on SysNAND and not EmuNAND.
OK so I've been following the retard guide up until the downgrade part. I downgrade successfully, but menuhax no longer works. Also the QR script hack doesn't work (it looks like 9.2 isn't supported for that exploit). What do I do next?
I'm on the sysupdater step to downgrade my new3DS, I already put the updates folder (9.2.0-20U(Full)_n3DS) in the root, I press downgrade and get an error CIA file not found or something like that. What do?
I followed this guide using FunkyCIA2 https://gbatemp.net/threads/funkycia-guide-how-to-make-cias-from-your-eshop-stuff.377015/
made_cdn_cia seems to be the latest version. What do?
AdsBypasser/Anti-adblock pastebin anon here,
MultiUp changed their page and forces you again to disable uBlock. No fix yet.
I prefer using dd. I'd say if you don't know how to use dd, it's best to clone your emuNAND.bin into your new SD card and then just drag and drop everything over. Safer than messing around with your partitions.
What is dd? I was referring to this guide,
but there's a big edit at the top saying that emunand tool is working again. I guess that's what I'll do
Supposedly, injected GBA titles only work with some CFWs. Don't quote me, though. You did install the AGB patch to both sysNAND and emuNAND directly to the NAND both times, right?
Yup, tried several times. Manually going to the URL isn't the way to go, I assume? I've even upgraded, used the browser hack, and then downgraded and got to this point again twice. I'll try a couple more times.
Downgrading doesn't change the SD card files in such a way that it messes up the browserhax, does it?
yea its stupid, the only game that calls n3ds functions is xenoblade, for some superstable 3d stuff and thats it, it could theoretically run on a 03ds but the 03ds is a 2 core 286 mhz arm11 processor and the n3ds is a 4 core 806mhz arm11 so itd run like shit, BoI is a n3ds game for no reason at all.
BoI only runs like shit because its made by a shitty indie dev who doesnt have time to optimize.
xenoblade would have to look even worse to run on the shitty old 2 core though, n3ds exclusive games are almost always n3ds only because the n3ds is way more powerful cpu wise, same gpu though
dd is a Unix program. It's used for copying and converting flles and drives (which are seen as files themselves on Unix-like systems). If emuNAND Tool is working again then go for it.
I'VE BEEN OUT FOR 2 DAYS
DOES NTR WORK ON N3DS 10.3 YET
PLEASE RESPOND, NOW.
Since you would have to install GBA games on both Nands, can there be any problem if I only install them on SysNand and start them there everytime by booting into it with Pasta I set up as an option in the bootmanager? That's what I did before I read that other people install them on both.
N3DS in this case of course.
you dont get how cfw works do you, the region doesnt matter, U/E/J will work with all cfw systems.
rxtools works natively (you need ntr for out of system region dlc)
cakes need ntr to play out of region at all.
The region does matter because NTR doesn't work with Reinand/Cakes 10.3 and rxmode emunand 10.3 isn't out yet as far as I know.
I mean, I can dump my 9.2 emunand backup, boot into rxmode emunand and update to 9.5 but I'd rather wait.
I do have an o3ds with CFW. I'll just play that for now.
So the guide talks about putting dbz within a folder with a lot of numbers/letters, but I have two of those folders. Yes, I know that within one there's a similar subfolder, but right from within the Nintendo 3DS folder there are immediately two, and the guide is worded as if there is only one.
Furthermore, various boots have put me into two versions of the emunand (if thats what you call it?)
On one there is FBI stuff along with my legal apps
and on the other there is just the apps
How are you guys playing the translated Fire Emblem Fates DLC? Is there a cia for it or do you have to patch the special edition rom and turn convert it to cia from there? I downloaded the special edition, but I only got the default two choices at chapter 6.
>no apps on homescreen
>check FBI again
>asks me to reinstall
>the reinstalled ones pop in
so do I need to go and do this for every game now? Damnit, I did all the big ones at once
I updated the AdsBypasser/Anti-Adblock Killer guide
New link because I'm an idiot and couldn't edit the original one.
Again, if there's anything anyone feels can be improved, any criticism or comments are welcome. It would also be cool if it could be included in the OP; one of the pastebins with download links copied my instructions over. Doesn't really bother me, but at least people should know where those instructions come from.
Why doesn't rxTools report version when I choose to check TMD? I only get region, and there's no error or anything to explain why version isn't there. Am I doing it wrong?
Where have all the cias gone? I've spent a good amount of time on google and haven't come up with much. None of the standard megas in the OP have updates. A good number of places I've found have also been taken down. So where have all the files gone? It's becoming an annoyance and I don't know where to turn to update some of the games that I have now.
Anyone dump eShop content? I'm wondering if I can just install the CIAs it created.
I'm following this guide http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji and I got to the part before I have to mess with cakes. My 3ds seems to be making me configure it as if it were new, is this normal?
For FE read above
Beware the kid icarus in there and Im sure others dont work for shit
All these work though
If i sell my current O3DS, get a regular 3DSXL, but keep the SD with the emuNAND, do i have to do the whole process again? Or just the downgrading?
He's been mean senpai
NTR is just another application that runs on top of the CFW your running. It has a debugger, screenshot feature, plugins/cheats and region free so out of region games work if you're running a CFW that doesnt have native region free
Retard's guide is telling me to
>3) Select EmuNAND Manager Options > Backup EmuNAND to EmuNAND.bin
Does that mean select "Clone EmuNAND.bin to EMUNAND? Because I don't see any option for "backup emunand to emunand.bin
I got through the setup and it looks like none of the games on my SD card are being recognized. What am I supposed to do now? Did I mess up somewhere?
Currently, the only way to open the CIAs i've installed is to launch cakefw off the menuhack, and hold x as soon as I select
Is this how it's supposed to be done? I thought if you held your button from just booting the system, you'd be able to launch them
sounds stupid, but I just want to make sure I'm not running inferior shit
how about you update it then
plus the quality is literally worse than 240p. the 3ds already has a shit resolution and videos look even shitter. like you can count the pixels and shit during videos. its that bad
Post nintendo's face when people NEVER EVER have to bide by their bullshit rules for customizing the 3ds
So im trying to figure out what these codes mean on my Roms I have, anyone know which is just the game without changes?
I was thinking about updating to 10.3 with Reinand, but shortly after that realized that it might be harder to access Homebrelauncher. What would happen if Nintendo releases a fix for the browser? Would I be screwed or not? I also heard there is a bug or something and you still cant access Eshop until you format Emunand, do some shit to set your NNID and put back your Emunand again after that. That sounds like an annoying hassle just to get to the shitty Eshop. Im still uncertain if its worth to do all that shit to get to the Eshop. But it seems like all sites for CIAs are a fucking mess. Took me forever to find games with all DLCs and I still cant find a way to be sure that there are or are not Updates for certain games. Even harder to find the fucking updates in the first place.
Following Retard's Guide, when I fix the eshop error, will I lose all my games? Because it says I will have to format the system, does that mean I'll have to reinstall all my shit?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help
>launch NTR cia
>current firmware not supported
fug. Wat do? I'm on 9.2.0-20u
3ds files are usually bigger than cia files, so that'll get smaller if you convert it.
Also, EU files can be bigger than US files sometimes, depending on how they handle the other languages.
Yeah, you only need them to generate the cia.
Just go for the one with the ! mark. others are games with bad-checksums and different headers, which shouldn't really bother you if you're just wanting to play.
Tried booting up Paper Jam bros, and I got the An Error Has Occurred, Hold down Power message. Where do I go from here?
CakesFW, 9.2. Used FBI to install. Pretty much did everything the guide said as far as I know. Only tried Ecco 3D and Outrun 3D other than Paper Jam, and those work fine.
I install reinand and rx tools on my n3ds because I heard n3ds can only install cia with fbi injection but now everytime i try to boot rx tools its stuck
does someone have a n3ds fbi installing guide?
