Here you go everyone! Not one but two Xrd tournaments! One happening later today starting at 8pm EST and another one happening on Monday the 18 at 9pm EST. Here are the links for signing up!
Saturday Night Tournament!
Monday Night Tournament!
The steam group is for use in the tournaments and makes it easier to get in contact with people who have registered in it.
Any questions/comments/criticisms? Please feel free to let me know.
>sfv on the UE4 engine which has a marketplace thing already
>unreal tournament has a straight up paid mod system (or will have one anyway)
So where were you when paid mods were confirmed for SFV?
>A steam group
>For PS tournaments
Just buy it on steam, everyone plays there now. It's literally 20 US dollars, there's more people playing and the lobby system isn't a complete clusterfuck like the console version.
- Fixed issue where upon connecting certain controllers, players experience a gradual decrease in frame rates.
- Fixed issue where players crash in Online Player's Room when they attempt to chat, especially if their Steam nicknames are too long.
- Fixed issue where the players' Steam nicknames end up getting distorted if the names contain non-alphanumeric letters.
- Added a new function to the button settings to allow players to define their own Pause button. The default key is "Spacebar".
I would buy it but I can't run it. Also the steam group was made because people told me it would be useful for better organizing the tournaments.
Jesus man. That's messed up.
I really wish Excellent Asia Adventures would step up the quality of their host.
I do, but I gravitate to the hardest characters and was wondering if there was anything cool.
Yeah, that's not hard.
I hate grapplers, but yeah, gief actually looks like a lot of fun and not really a grappler.
Cross Counter is slowly sapping Xian and Infiltration of all their skill. In 2017 they'll be completely washed up and Xian will take a job in some Asian streaming service being their FGC guy.
Cross Counter is a sign of masculine friendship. Courting a life long bro in eternal hot blooded camaraderie.
Topanga is the point where the mountain touches the sea uniting the trinity of heaven, earth, and ocean.
did someone say
SPEED AND WEIGHT
>gets beaten by a Rolento player
>calls him out for being shit with Rolento
>invites him to a set
>still complaining that the guy is trash with Rolento
>finally wins one match
>YEAH SEE THIS IS HOW YOU WIN WITH SKILL AND NOT WITH HARD KNOCKDOWNS POINT PROVEN
09ers don't really understand how things work when a slate gets wiped clean. SF4 was simplistic and casual going from 3s, then a year later a lot of the tech started becoming widely used.
By mid 2017 there's going to be a lot of tech out there. It's all dependent on how Capcom handles balance changes post-launch.
"80% of SF4 players are total trash and won't stand a chance in SFV!"
- 80% of SF4 players
Yeah haven't heard that one before.
>cross counter asia
>godlike comfy sets featuring some of the greatest sf4 players in the world like poongko, xian and infiltration
>washed up "personalities" invite literally who z-list celebrities to get beaten by 400pp kens
Too bad the only thing good about Asia is their game play. Literally everything about Asia that isn't actually playing Street Fighter is shit.
If Mike and Gootecks weren't so washed up it would be undeniably better.
Then you have WSO that's stuck somewhere in the middle with decent play, decent commentary, but nothing really great.
necalli is a safe character design. 100% built for esports from the ground up. adding further range to his throw vs a cast with predominantly slow walk speeds just makes him even better.
only problems i see for him is dealing with long limbs and grapplers which is alright to make him not the best character ever
>Could play games
>Could play in training mode
>Could watch tournament footage
>Could watch tutorials
All these options, and some people choose to watch two morons play online games against randoms
Have a horizontal moving shoryuken that has to be blocked high & tatsu that has to be blocked low?
Basically. Necalli's a stable design.
It's basically a kara grab. I can't find it but I remember seeing a video showing Ryu doing the same thing but with his normal throw.
>walking forward and grabbing is a kara grab
>Basically a kara grab
Not really. A kara grab involves cancelling the startup of another move into a grab to give the grab extended range. Buffering the input for a command throw and walking forward is exactly what it says on the tin.
there isnt really a name for it because it isnt really anything noteworthy
nobody made a video in sf4 to demonstrate that doing an anti clockwise spd is slightly better than a clockwise spd at max range because you get a frame or two of forward movement before the grab because its just standard fighting game stuff
Watching in the background while Karin and Ibuki lez out?
What's wrong with Ibuki?
Oh no, someone on the internet doesn't like a character I like
Birdie & Karin?!? Please explain.
i like sf4 ibuki because i can turn my brain off
Oh wait, that's right, I don't give a shit.
Basically Birdie is living at Karin's place now. There's gonna be a comic made by the guy who created Karin to explain the back story behind it.
It'll look great but probably not as good as the footage you just saw. Still can hope though.
Hey, any excuse to post sweet Ibuki pictures. There's also the benefit of knowing it gives you the shits.
kunai 1 is a crossup, kunai 2 is same side
it says a lot about the ambiguity of ibuki's mixup that you werent able to tell which side it was on even with a video to study
idk any of the characters by name, it was just a guess based off the hairstyle really
P5 is going to be my first Persona game
>P4 has a scene that hints at Naoto having the largest breasts of all companions
I've seen the towel scene and it doesn't look like anything exceptional, isn't that all just fanon anyway?
Also I thought that Marie broad was suppose to be bigger now anyway
i dont like going for tsumuji loops on skinny characters like cammy and decapre because i feel like they have a 10% chance to drop for no reason
in reality its probably 100% consistent but it just feels weird to me
She has bigger breasts than Rise who was the largest of the girls at that point. Doesn't mean anything really though. Having larger tits than Rise means she's large C to mid D.
Rise's the one that confirms Naoto has huge tits in that scene with Teddie. That scene also comes before the hot springs if I remember correctly since the hospital scene was post Naoto dungeon but pre-festival.
toppest belly buttons
Anyone EU PC Xrd?
Naoto is the worst character in P4 anyway.
She is introduced as some kind of super genius, but only thing she does is repeat information you already know and get embarrassed a lot.
Not to mention her skillset is the worst in the game.
No one is going to be talking about KI. Not even hating on KI but SFV launching is just so much more high profile than a game which has been out for 2(I think) years that has fallen by the side line a bit.
>all these replies
Nah, it has only has a normal ending and a true ending in 3/4.
2 has no alternate endings, 1 has 2 different stories.
at least 5 has demons and negotiations so it resembles a real SMT game
What stick do you have (if you have one)
My entry was this mayflash stick way like 6 years ago to test the waters. Buttons were kind of bad so they broke early and I changed them to red sanwa buttons. Now I still have that and its pretty good. Its kind of light and a little small compared to most other sticks I seen people use though.
Also no art or anything, just black default.
the in f input as after th special....basically it gives you the fastest 'possible walk up and throw timing'
i'm wondering if there is a whiff animation to this...because the throw only activates when you are in range.
Or maybe I'm really just not understanding this.
What if I told you there was a better mayfalsh with a better button layoutt that is much easier to mod the button and sticks?
Yeah, there is the failure ending for 4. Guess the alternate ending for 3 is a failure ending too.
Persona 1 and 2 have that too.
2 also has the best story/characters of the whole series in my opinion.
So if you can handle the unintuitive combat I'd recommend you play that one.
golden has a true evil ending where you become
adachi'spartner in crime, destroy the evidence that could prove him guilty, leave inaba and its implied everyone will die
I think you're really not understanding it. The command grab comes out either way because the command grab input is still in the buffer, it doesn't matter where you're standing. All he does is walk forward a few frames before pressing P to activate the final part of his previous grab input.
Like I said I changed the buttons fast but I still use the default stick.
I was thinking about getting a new stick but not really sure which to get. If my mayflash broke I would buy one but it seems redundant.
Though If I find one cheap and good (or you recommend me one) I will check it out.
Is it a good stick in general or just a better mayflash? I dont really care for mayflash itself but it is my first stick.
>what do you think about the Necalli tech?
I think you spent 3 minutes explaining the idea of delaying a button press after inputting a special motion. An idea which has been around for about 20 years.
It's not an OS, the game is just reading that you've input the command for the command grab and is waiting for the button press. You get a few frames to walk forward and press a punch to get the command grab before the buffer system "forgets" your input.
It's the exact same principle as being able to walk-forward super with charge characters.
Kara means empty. A kara cancel is an empty cancel because you cancel an animation before it does anything, so it's empty. A kara throw is empty cancelling a move into a throw.
What you did was walk forwards.
I'm just pulling your leg fampai, I've never played Persona so I have no real opinion on it.
P5 looks fun.
>mfw trying out Alpha 3 R.Mika
Footage doesn't do her justice. She is rock bottom levels of bad. Alpha Dan might be better than her holy shit.
Somebody see me in fighting games so I don't have to continue the offtopic shitposting.
Strange Journey, SMT3, Persona 2
Devil Survivor 2, SMT1, 2 and 4, Persona 4, DDS1/2
Devil Survivor 1, Persona 1 and 3
>but this input still gives you the fastest walk forward and grab special timing right
Meaning it's faster than foward, qcb + p? Yeah, especially since you can buffer the qcb during your blocked moves and then just walk forward + p.
Let me add, for modding the stick the connector cable that comes with sanwas won't fit.
gotta use this : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QC2GTXC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
this link explains it all
The story was also complete nonsense and the characters nonexistent.
It fails horribly at both being a dungeon crawler and a JRPG.
If you want a good dungeon crawler just go play any of the wizardry games or even EO if you're a pathetic weeb desperate for weeb art.
If you want a good JRPG play just about anything other than SJ.
>pick up Melty
>finally find a sidegame that's easy to get into and has a semblance of at least online tournaments
>tournament organizer goes on indefinite hiatus a month later
I wish my internet was good enough to stream, I would do weekly tournaments or organise some league with streamed ftx games and shit like that. Fuck this place how can I not have fiber in a residential area of one of the biggest cities in the country?
cant wait to try that command grab buffer + walk with birdie. it annoyed the shit out of me last beta how his command grab just whiffed after blocked attacks if it wasnt the EX version
>calling belgian fried potato chips french fries
The difference is that a roll is made with yeast and biscuit is made with baking powder.
This T B H
There is not a single character more well written in the history of film, television, theater, and literature than Junpei.
>Everything in nrw westgermany
>only one is wien which is 5 hours away from me, however still closer than the german ones
They needs to be something like this in the south aswell.
This is a dresser.
A closet is like a very small room for your clothes.
Thanks. Didnt even know there was something like this near me.
Ja, bin Deutscher. War aber halt nur im internet unterwegs aka netwarrior. Naja bin nooch recht neu in der kampfspielszene
As a Great British Gentleman. Roll?
You mean a bread roll?
>That one drawfag anon never delivered
They could build Ibuki's combo enders to give her oki when you quickrise, so that you can mix her up by not quickrising at which point she could use her V-Trigger kunai to go into a mixup on you staying down.
Sounds kinda dumb but at least you'd have to spend meter and it wouldn't go on forever.
They are not going to make Ibuki a setplay slut in V. are you retarded? Everyone complained about characters like her. She is pretty much guaranteed to play much closer to her 3S self.
Does she still have lightning-fast standing mix-ups?
Thinking on it, I think Ibuki's combos are going to take a hit. Unless they make a special exception for her, jab combos can't really be a thing in SFV.
Leo is the only character I can't handle in Xrd. How exactly do you defend against that kind of ridiculous pressure?
Can anybody give me a rundown of his typical strings and when the best time to IB, counter attack, or Blitz is?
I'm sorry you're unable to determine what side she's going to land on
but seeing as how every recent major was won by ibukis and all the top 8s were full of ibukis I guess it must be just me :)
he knocks you down and its either overhead, standing low, or counter
imo its easier to react to the overhead but the low is less risk
thus its best to just crouch block and stand up for the overhead and wait for a gap if they are trying to confirm off the low
for the counter its not even advisable to press something against leo on wake up because he has fast buttons and all day for meaty set ups
dont go for throw
im not even good
My problem is the overhead.
I don't know how his combos work, so I don't know when he can throw out the overhead vs. when he can throw out the low. It feels like he can just mix them up over and over to the point where I'll eventually get hit, but again, that's just me not understanding his combos.
I've done what I can with the Tekken 7 info doc for now. I also changed it to public suggestions, since a fair bit of work has been put in and it would be a pain to have to deal with the file history if it gets messed up. Anything that doesn't look like a complete joke will be approved though, so please feel free to contribute.
Thanks a bunch to the anon that wrote the half that I didn't write. Leave a comment somewhere on the doc so I can give you editing privileges next time, I vaguely remember your account.
The link is /tekgendoc on waaai.

why dont you fucking retards do some super amazing tournament annually and have brackets and hype it the fuck up or something
that would be really awesome. or your own little league for degenerates or something. wtf r u doing
the Karin and Birdie doujins are gonna be fire when this game comes out
Thanks anon, it's nice to know that someone appreciates it.
Good idea, a small section at the beginning for general TTT2 -> T7 changes would be worth having, I think.
I thought I wouldn't learn anything new from that Bafael mechanics overview but I didn't actually know supers in SFV do a guaranteed 50% of their damage regardless of scaling. That's neat.
Amazing job man. Seriously appreciate all of your hard work.
Well we've been doing small tournaments at the moment. A nice big one would be really nice.
I'll do it, give me a few hours to figure things out
plenty of time to prep then
yes please, want to add me somewhere?
it'll be fun dude let's try it
That would be awesome, thanks for all your help. Despite playing T7 for over a year, I've actually only ever played DVJ. I hung out a fair bit with TheMainMan while he was here recently, so I've seen a lot of Kazuya too, but that's where my knowledge ends really. I'm sure people would love to hear about Shaheen.
As far as I can tell, all your info is good. It's cool to see someone so dedicated to such a ded game.
I'll help out where I can with formatting and whatnot tomorrow, thanks again for all the work on the doc.
That was me, yeah. Surprised you remember that. TMM actually helped me out a bunch, I feel like I improved so much in like a week.
>you’ll slip up in your movement and get punished, you’ll focus too much on doing some difficult move or tactic and forget about what’s on screen, but that’s all a given. That’s the price you’re paying for playing the best characters in the franchise.
>Consistency is key with Mishimas, so aim for that above all else.
This is what Tekkenfaggots actually believe makes a fighting games good.
They think this is fun and balanced.
jesus christ i think i was asking you shit about claudio at the time. and telling you to keep playing. good shit.
yeah i'm one of those people who really loves the tag games so that should tell you how much i love and enjoy tekken. i hope tag 2 remains a side tourney after 7 drops in about 5 years.
also what the hell could he tell you that you feel just magically made you better? i always thought he was mediocre because he only ever played online, lost to scrubs and gimmicky shit, and complained about lag.
Yeah, about him and Shaheen. Tag 2 had its own tournament at KiT earlier today, and it's a good game in its own right, so I hope it stays semi-relevant too.
TMM is by no means a god-tier player, but he knows the Mishimas well and told me exactly what kind of stuff I was missing or doing wrong, and what needed work. The kind of thing that you wouldn't realize or notice from watching or reading guides.
On top of that, I think a lot of it was just about practice. I rarely play Tekken because most of my friends aren't too interested in it, so when I'm out, I don't want to keep them waiting while I play ded fighting games in smoke-filled arcades. Hanging out with TMM was cool though, since we could both just sit at the cabinets for hours, and I got a whole heap of long practice sessions in. It didn't have to be him specifically, but it's great to have someone with you who you can talk with and stuff between games. Makes the whole learning process a whole lot more enjoyable.
big drama in little korea recently as a 17 year old kpop star has triggered a dramatic uproar in politics.
Sources say she was seen on a korean show with a taiwan flag and mentioning she is from taiwan. chinese netizens caught wind of this and was deeply offended as mainlanders do not recognize the independence of taiwan and consider it still part of PRC.
Earlier yesterday a video emerged from JYP Entertainment to where the young girl is employed stating she was mistaken and announcing there is only one china. The video quickly spread like wildfire across the net pointing fingers at who coerced this young girl to denounce her nationality while fierce internet fighting between taiwan supporters and PRC supporters commenced.
Tekken a shit game, 80% execution, 20% footsies and actual fighting.
Are fundamentals even important? Like why would you care about movemement privilege when all you're looking for is to launch your opponent?
>2-0 they said
>ez skins they said
>they're just a bunch of filthy brazilian monkeys they said
It's not about difficulty.
Whoever wins is the one that masters all these little techs and rewarding combos.
If this is how you picture a fighting game, I feel sorry for you.
People like you are the reason neo-SNK ruined KOF.
At decent level?
Is this what you mean?
This is autism.
yea kodee wiped the floor with everyone. it wasn't even flashy either even though he was trying to be. just sound mishima play. also that qt girl playing alisa/xiaoyu was ridiculous.
that makes sense. i'm glad you're levelling up. i can kinda relate. only one of my friends is a huge tekken fan but he's just a casual masher. still cool to just talk about random tekken stuff with him, though.
Yeah, I'm glad the Mishima player won. I woke up early to watch the American tournament and it was full of negros that weren't even good, so it's reassuring that someone who deserved the win received it.
And thanks anon, hopefully I can get even better from here on out. Waiting for that PC release of FR so I don't have to drop half my wallet to lose to backflipping laws, claudios and sheheens
and I can do it for free instead.
Sorry bro, but pictures speak for themselves.
This is how tournament and competitive players play this game.
Any video shows it.
This game is all about mastering stupid techs like KBD, backdash cancel, PEWGF...
There is no footsies or fundamentals to be respected in a game like this, mashing and rushing in actually works.
I did play the game, I may not be at a decent level but all I felt is clunky and stiff movement, you hardly feel that you're controlling your character, you block like if it was a 2D fighter, and the only viable way to deal damage is always to launch the other guy.
This game is literally combo jerking fighter.
GAMES ME GAMES ME
GAMES ME I WANNA BF GAMES ME
GAMES ME GAMES ME
GAMES ME GAMES ME GAMES ME GAMES ME GAMES ME
oh yeah? but I bet you didn't play against the top 1% of players (unlike myself, who has multiple top japanese fighting game experts are close relatives) so you are not qualified to talk about tekken, aka the best FG ever created.
>kbd and backdash cancels
this is widely known as impractical in real matches, so nobody does it unless they can afford to give up a ch df+2 combo or if they can do the salvage combo (missed pewgf, dewgf, ewgf, dewgf). nobody gives a shit about pewgf at a high level, let alone mastering it. forget about block punishing with it.
>in a game where mashing and rushing in actually works
tekken is widely known by anyone with a brain to be a primarily defensive game focused on movement at a high level due to the prevalence of whiff punishment and the strength of combos. mashing and rushing in literally never works. post that enraged paul killing hwoarang rushing in and mashing with 2 hits. tell me it works. i'm sure you have it.
>block as if it were a 2d fighter
you get launched for free by holding down-back and trying to reaction block mids (overheads).
that's fine. i know plenty of people who are at your skill level who feel otherwise.
>only viable way to deal damage is to launch the other guy
it's an effective way, probably the most effective, but that doesn't mean poking is not a good way to get damage. poking characters are extremely strong. poking and combos don't off-set each other. that's a horrible way to look at fighting games.
Is it alright if I practice Tekken stuff in psp emulated version of Tekken 5 DR.
Most of hte basic system shit is the same with movement right?
How do you do iWS. The input in the gide just says d,f but it's more coplex that because you get a step if you just tap you have to hold it a bit to go to crounching.
The entire cast has really easy frame traps. Stuffing mashed jabs in SFV is free, just hit Light>Medium with anyone. There are almost no true blockstrings, everything is a frame trap.
Anyone play Vega in USF4? I've picked him up because I've always loved the character, but I'm having trouble keeping people from jumping like retards. His Flash Kick and c.HP seems to always get beat, and because of how jumpins require zero timing and can be shit out mid jump, it's really hard to air to air them.
"footsies" has lost all meaning here if you play a game that has zero footsies, are mad about it and are now pretending footsies doesn't actually mean anything as a way to discredit that kind of gameplay.
>Just buy it on steam, everyone plays there now. It's literally 20 US dollars
>Mandatory DLC that isn't free now
>10 dollars more and I can get the infinitely more enjoyable
Dariusburst Chronicle Saviors
These are fighting games, played primarily in the west by black people. It makes sense for the game's slang to come from real fight slang
Because nerds don't get into real fights
Why do you think nobody calls neutral "footsies" in anime games? Because actual nerds play those
JUST GEAR MY SHIT UP
I mean, the game's going to die when Revelator comes out for consoles, but this is arguably one of 3 fighting games I'm actually bonafide interested in playing.
The others are still jojos and 3s, but I'm a huge scrub. I'll admit it - I'm bad. So bad.
Thank you, traveling merchantposter. You just got a sale
>mfw having an argument with a black man in a train about who's the best Senran Kagura girl
I keep getting 7f delays in lobbies in my region in Xrd on Steam. Even when I enter a room with 3 bar connections everyone drops down to 0 after 30 seconds. Am I supposed to be forwarding a port or something?
You can use it for no meter if you're Vorpal and all it does is strip your Vorpal. It's an underestimated and sometimes forgotten defensive option since you can usually just CS and get out, but some characters have buttons so shitty that even CS can't do the job. You'll see lots of Chaos players use the guard thrust.
>when talking about the us
Help with picking a name for the big annual tournament that me and hulkman are making.

he was arguing for hibari, i was arguing for homura
the argument went to a standstill as we discussed why the fuck some characters have crosses for pupil then i had to go
guy was the most passionate motherfucker in existence, though
Oh, so you were both wrong, funny how that happens sometimes.
im worried about tournies running late, but i think after silent got used to them and with the steam checks, they'll go a lot faster from now on.
fggt is way too close to faggot
>he was arguing for hibari, i was arguing for homura
>we discussed why the fuck some characters have crosses for pupil
they talk about it in shinovi versus. there rest of her family was training hoping to get the eyes and then she gets them while without wanting them. she wanted to run a bake shop but now is forced to be a shinobi
>People who try to ignore illness's no matter how small in the hopes of it going away
Why? Do you not have health insurance? Are you trying to look manly? Do you have social phobia? I will never understand people that do this, if you can stop something before it even starts yet you choose to wait for it to get worse you must have some sort of defect in the head.
