Eh. Fallout was fun to play for the time that I was going through the story. Once there was nothing left, I didn't want to do anymore playthroughs, I didn't want to make more characters, and I didn't feel like the environment was suited for my waifan. I like forests and mountains, swords & sorcery. Post-apocalyptic is actually one of my least favorite fantasy settings. I don't even like the movies.

Fallout 4 engine and game play definitely improved. While there wasn't much to improve on story wise, Fallout 4 sort of went sideways, but then backwards for really locking you into the kind of person you can be. Overall, as far as I am concerned:

It's better than 3, but only just in some aspects.
A lot of features feel unfinished or half done or not really as fleshed out as they should be.

I just installed high resolution textures to armor, weapons, body, and environment. Coupled with an ENB which enhances lighting and an assortment of other visual effects, it make the game looks 100x better than out of the box.
In that screenshot I'm probably running around 50 FPS. When outdoors, and depending on the location, it can be around 25-40.
I could do more to it for sure, but it'd drop my FPS into the ground.

Trying out Molag Bal's Inferno, I started off with lust, got to the boss and the bastard absorbs health so quickly. This is always going to be problem with voiced games. In the good old glorious 90s RPGs where spoken dialogue was sparse, you could often choose the tone of your response from a handful of different options. You could choose to be a total asslicker, a sarcastic smartass or a manipulating villain and so on. However in fully voiced games, like Skyrim and FO4 for example, your options are limited because it's too much work to record responses for many vastly different options which ultimately locks your character into what the developers want and kills the illusion of roleplaying.

Colorful Magic places a few OP dragons at certain locations, but they don't randomly spawn so they shouldn't be coming for you in towns. So it's probably some other mod you have.

If you get the mfg console mod you can click on the dragons with the console open and it'll tell you what mod they're from

To be honest, instead of quest expansions, I wish FO4 would get DLCs with different main character's personalities or even different completely different settings for the main character. Having to be a parent and a vault dweller makes imagining your characters back story kinda constricting. Well the thing about being a Dragonborn is that besides having a special snowflake soul, there's zero restriction on what your character is like.
What kind of person is he or she, what race is he or she, what does he or she care about, none of it matters and you can even ignore the entire main quest for a good while at little to no demerit (and your character doesn't constantly bring up BUT I'M DRAGONBORN in dialogue)
In FO4 we have a set personality to be a goody twoshoes, to give a shit about nothing but the kid, and even a legit backstory where the dude is an army vet (and the girl was a lawyer or something?)

Yeah, alternate start is going to be harder to do in Fallout 4 and will probably take a while to make. Alternate Start was so critical to actually RP'ing your own character in Skyrim.

For example, you literally cannot NOT tell Piper you're looking for your son if you want her as a follower. The way I was playing, I make it to a big city, ok, gonna try to keep a low profile, tell nobody anything, gather information on the down low, nope all the options lead to the same thing, you gotta tell the bitch and then it gets printed in the fucking newspaper so everyone knows. That is the diametric opposite of my RP intention. That would have to be removed in alternate start. There's tons of dialogue like that in the game.

Seems they put a huge chunk of effort and development resources into the new dialog system, voiced PC, and settlement building. Those are three things I would not care for at all in TESVI. I would rather they spend all that effort and hours elsewhere. I would even rather they leave it like Skyrim and work on graphics and animations over any of that.

I've never done it before and I think it may have been "fixed" in the Code Patch, because raising enchanting or intelligence to extreme levels doesn't seem to affect the magnitude of items you try to enchant. 4000 int still only let me create a fortify int +8 belt.

It's a cool gimmick but it takes away from the world imo. I would have give up settlement building entirely for a couple set-piece towns like Megaton or Rivet City with a theme + NPCs, nothing in FO4 appealed to me, Diamond City and Goodneighbor scuked. Settlement building just feels empty and underdeveloped, generic NPCs barely do anything except walk around, oh wow a trade route (it just lets you share inventory lol), jesus they have a foundation for a cool RTS-like side game and they did nothing with it.

I think the reason "immersive" and "lore-friendly" became buzzwords in Skyrim modding is because people recognized Beth built a good world and modders would put in extra effort to integrate their content in a way that doesn't clash with what Beth established, and it's something that other people care about too. The problem with Skyrim is the fact that many of the quests only give two choices; doing as you're told or ignoring the quest. For example, there is no way to report Jaree-Ra to the authorities or stop him, either you do as he says or you ignore him. Or kill him, I suppose that works too.

I'd say that's more a limit of the scale and scope you can do with 3D graphics given today's computer hardware

If you count all the corpses in the battlefield at the beginning of Witcher 3, there's something like 100-200. Yet in the lore armies of thousands clash. Novigrad is either the same size or slightly bigger than all of Skyrim's cities combined, yet it still has maybe 400-500 individually rendered NPCs, of which you can meaningfully interact with about 70?

Not just RPGs, the armies in Total War cap out in the thousands and may approach accurate manpower levels of medieval battles, but definitely not classical battles

It will be decades (if ever) until we can have game world cities with NPC populations comparable to historic real world cities. Do we even need it though?

I'd be happier with slightly more dialog choices under the Skyrim/Fallout 3 system, more skill gating like [Barter 75] or [Medicine 40] or [Charisma 7], more actual illusion of choice and RP than the 4-choice 2-word heap of shit Fallout 4 provides.

Use UUNP, generate UNPCM preset. Halo confirmed its exactly the same down to a polygonal level except with HDT support and shit. The weighing is a bit different that's about it.

After that you can download hi poly vanilla armor for UUNP, export that as UNPCM, etc, and use whatever UNPCM mods are available.

Yeah. UUNP is a bodyslide enabled UNP, which means any UUNP outfit is designed for you to be able to open up Bodyslide and export it in any UNP type you want.

That being said, you don't NEED your base body to be UUNP.

Example, I have a sevenbase character and used gamefever's UUNP edit of Daedric Reaper to export a sevenbase variant of that.

It does have really nice weighing though, and you can export any body type you want with full HDT support, so it's pretty cool.

Off the top of your head, what are some script intensive/badly scripted mods that are at least somewhat popular but can be avoided?

Seeing a blacklist of mods might be useful so I don't fall into any more traps of saves getting ruined down the line.

It is not usually any one single mod, but the user going overboard with multiple ones.

Papyrus, the scripting engine, can't handle too much. It's simple logic that too many script mods will overload the engine. Mods that are really, really old, or have a comment section with 500 warnings saying don't use this mod, they have scripts that will kill your game eventually. That doesn't matter. Get used to using multiple layers, the smudge and fuzzy erase tool, crap like that. Shit takes time to learn, so any tutorials on texturing (or really just using an image editor like Photoshop or GIMP) will help.

So it rally just comes down to drawing skills or what? I was hoping that I could just use a aprt of another texture and paste it into the other texture, but then the tone of the new texture doesn't fit to the orginal texture. Does that even matter?

I know and I think that's the biggest problem of open world games. When you design the game in a way that players can go everywhere, areas that should be huge often end up very small. Sometimes it's better to just show the player that there are hundreds of buildings and thousands of people in the city, but you're going to interact with only a handful of them instead of designing the city in a way that only the handful exists.

No, not drawing skills at all. More of...blending skills. Once your overlay is on its own layer you can mess with its color, contrast etc until to blends well with your base texture, then merge the layers together.

So is there any tutorial which explains this? When took a look at texture tutorials for Skyrim they somehow showed how to work in Blender., but I just use GIMP

I am also a walking GIMP tutorial repository but these things require lots of typing. My best advice is to be patient and learn the ins and outs of the program.
