1/2/3/4 all look the same, but it's not like the source material didn't
Try male/female voidsent
Does this game have an auto-attack focused class? Or a way to spec classes for atuo-attacks?
I'm just coming off Xenoblade Chronicles which really spoiled me as far as auto-attacks go.
For once, a potato edition I don't mind.
>You can card-buff the NPCs in AST job-quests but not in main-story quests
This may seem like a petty complaint, but AST's damage and MP sustain sucks ass and it would have been a big help in my fight just now against Ser Charibert and the Temple Knights.
Pic tangentially related
>Hey kid, wanna /ss/?
Does anyone play characters who are older than the typical teenage/early-20s adventurers you always see in Japanese games?
My main basically had a life and a career before calamity(but not Calamity) befell her and she found herself on a whole different continent. Had to retrain for a whole new life path, because apparently teachers who're wholly unfamiliar with the whole continent's geography and history aren't in much demand.
git gud, macros are pretty useless here.
Also this, Macros have a forced delay on them, you can't queue them normally, so unless you have frame perfect timing, they are basically useless.
Any /wait will automatically go to the nearest whole number.
Macro timing only works with integer second intervals, while hotkey inputs can be queued when input up to 500 milliseconds before the current ability ends.
What this means is macro automation leaves huge fuck-off gaps between the execution of global-cooldown abilities while active play leaves none. Basically, it assfucks your DPS.
Be assertive and don't spaghetti everywhere and you can get any race you want.
Alternatively, try a well-aimed tranquilizer dart from a short distance, but you didn't hear that from me.
I currently play a character thats 37. Does that count?
I literally just discovered I made his nameday the day of or the day after the Calamity, made him in May of last year, and had no idea.
Main on Adamantoise, alts on Balmung and Tonberry.
Mine's mid-late 20's but that's not much different than the common
>Bought a house next to the waterfall in the Goblet thinking that it was scenic.
>Several months later.
>Constant running water outside my house driving me insane.
It's worse than the fucking fountain or hot tub that's in EVERY FUCKING FC HOUSE.
Just butt stuff.
Sorry Xenoblade anon.
Auto attacks and just practically playing "Idle to win" the game isn't going to work here, don't get me wrong. I love Xenoblade too and I love how their system works, but it doesn't translate well over on the MMO front, outside of Classic Everquest.
Eh. The way I see it, if you've got a couple short cooldown skills that you're using most of the time, and a couple long cooldown skills that you use strategically, than the short cooldown skills are basically just an auto-attack chain with extra keystrokes.
Like I get that you have to have some kind of skill requirement, but it gets to the point where you're just banging on keys for the sake of banging on keys.
Still, it's a minor complaint.
Yeah I know, but a lot of the Weaponskills have RNG procs or traits attached to them to keep it interesting, but I agree, lately with the 30+ buttons that I have to press often just to play, it really does feel like skill bloat.
Still don't think an Auto-attack build would do well here, even if it came down to it. Auto attacks do so little damage and are so slow its silly.
Sorry anon, auto-attacks aren't important/primary in this game. It was in FFXI, though.
monk opener. people need to be using fracture in it.
i mean shit i had a spreadsheet and everything. i didn't even make the damn spreadsheet someone else did and had this fucking godawful opener that xeno apparently made.
it blows every other opener i've seen out of the water. EXTREMELY suceptible to lag though. any delay, or if you use pb too early in your gcd, and the whole thing gets fucked. because potions are assholes.
Why not discuss it in the monk thread on the official forums?
What's your opener like? I play monk, but I'm only starting to. I'm using this one since it gets posted here a lot.
Just do it. Put together your build, make recordings, write down and math out your numbers, and then present them to the public.
I did this during 2.x with the
BLM piety buildand also made compelling arguments for hardcasting Thunder IIIunder specific requirements.
I've been using demo->pb->snap->snap->dk(b4b)->twin(potion)->snap(ir)->tod->boot->true->demo->dk->twin->fracture->snap->normal monk shit with ogcds scattered throughout whenever I remember to hit them. I had an order once but I forgot it. I think i was doing it in cd timer order, since delaying a short cooldown by one gcd is a higher percentage of damage lost. done right, the potion and b4b both catch the fracture.
because official forums
Why didn't they use this for anything neat?
>Want to play something that dual wields
>Don't want to play Ninja
SE please give me what I desire
90th or whatever for I have no willingness to level up gathering and crafting classes anymore, but I have to..
best i've done is...i think like 1280 at full 190, hive claws and everything. but that was with no potion or food. i'm not very good at parsing though, i almost always drop something.
Apparently there is a /vg/ group on Asura server, so you could try your luck there. I've been messing around with FFXI again recently myself (on Odin), there's quite a signficiant amount of QoL changes plus the addition of Trusts (AI party members) meaning you can solo just about all story content and a fair amount of leveling. So if you never experienced the story missions you might find them intriguing. Endgame groups are still a bit exclusive but the amount of other old/lowman content you can do is massive.
B L U
>that was with no potion or food
Shouldn't matter since its common practice to not dummy parse with food or pots.
>i'm not very good at parsing though, i almost always drop something.
If you are "not good" at parsing than how can you be so sure your rotation is superior if you don't have any numbers to back it up?
> main scenario roulette
> leveling SCH so just sitting afk at boss fights with my succor every 5 seconds macro from fate spamming
> paying 0 attention, playing kancolle on other monitor
> ultima's second form
> die in main scenario roulette
> as SCH
> receive pity commendation
Why do I go to these things...
>Shouldn't matter since its common practice to not dummy parse with food or pots.
you kidding? dummy parses lately have everything. food, potion, party bonus, ast with enhanced balance, ninja trick attacking, shit's gone totally nuts. people have forgotten the point of parsing.
As much as I love the concept of Blue Magic, I agree with >>128738131.
If they reappear, they should look something closer to their original appearance.
i'm like 99% sure it is. in fact i'm pretty sure it's beneficial to delay them clear until your first bootshine, but i haven't tried that.
spreadsheets, yo. potencies don't lie
I disagree, while I love FFV and for it being the first FF to introduce BLU as a whole, the masked-superhero look just looks silly to me. FFTA and XI BLU had much more style.
Besides, we all know XIV would never be able to implement it as well as the single player games or as FFXI did.
Not too fond of FFXI's Blue Mage design, really. I love the superhero look because it's so different from the other mages.
FFXI never had any style, the outfits there are really tacky.
Yeah, nah. But you are entitled to your plebian taste.
I wouldn't say FFXI had no style. Every time I get a look at it, I get a very middle eastern vibe from several of the gear sets.
But it wasn't very "Final Fantasy" in it's style, I'll give you that. It was it's own thing.
I'd like it if they went for a mix of FFV's superhero interpretation combined with a sort of Operatic or Masquerade look, similar to the Gold Saucer/Setzer's Gambler outfit .
The game already has a plethora of masks and a number of NPCs with flashy longcoats so something like that would be neat.
> limbal rings
Every single Au Ra with this enabled looks like complete shit.
I'll challenge that, male and female >>128734945
Nice, I knew my statement would get some bites.
Anyway, there are at least some that looked great, the rest are just "meh", the PLD AF is okay without the ugly brown on it. The rest of the AFs are either ugly or not interesting.
That's what I really don't like, and it didn't really fit with most gear having western-style of clothing with middle-eastern plastered on it, and every Final Fantasy had its own thing going on, but i'm not fond of FFXI's.
You look like you're played by a 15 year old with a deviantart account. If I was crafting and you came up and started talking to me I would pretend to be AFK macroing.
She actually looks okay, but would still be improved by not having them.
i'm inclined to agree mostly
au ra in general look like shit compared to what they could have beenbut there are good one s out there.
Insulting someone doesn't count as an objective, well-reasoned argument.
I turned them on a long time ago and liked the look, got a couple positive comments besides. The only other other I can see working is something like pic related due to the Xaela sclera
> this makes you look like you're an attention starved underage kid with a love for anime
> here's how I would react if you approached me based on looks alone
> Y-YOUR OPINION IS INVALID!
Then don't bait saying the game doesn't have style, simply say you don't like the style.
but I definitely agree that Valor/AF2 PLD looked much cooler than Gallant/AF1.
>this makes you look like you're an attention starved underage kid with a love for anime
Since when is this tied to anything but wacky hair colors and/or heterochromia? Was just trying to continue the discussion
We won't ever have move boosts like this.
>FINAL FANTASY MMO
>YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BLACK/BROWN/BLONDE HAIR COLOR AND GREEN/BLUE/BROWN EYES
>IF YOU USE EXOTIC HAIR COLORS, EYE COLORS, HETEROCHROMIA, OR LIMBAL RINGS, YOU'RE "ANIME FAGGOT"
I was trying to match the color of the Xaela sclera, but it's not close enough. Those are the only options for limbals imo, a brighter shade of your eyes to make them stand out, matching sclera to reduce pupil size or make eye color = sclera color and change limbal to whatever, pic related
>inhuman race has glowing eyes
>lmao chuuni shit
If it was on Hyur/Miqo'te, I could understand, but this is Au Ra only, what makes you think it's chuuni? Are muscles on highlanders chuuni because they're the most exaggerated?
Never say never. It would be near impossible to balance all that while the dev team is currently five guys and a pot of coffee, but perhaps in the future when XV is finished
lolwe'll get something interesting.
Because it's overdone. Yes, it's a race specific option, but it's both a lazy one on the developer standpoint, and it's been a long standing trope of 15 year old deviantart/roleplay shit. If you don't cringe every time you see "my character's eyes glow when he's mad" then it's because you're the 15 year old in question.
The highlander comparison is so massively off base that I'm not even going to respond to it, and really hope you didn't expect me to.
I don't get it. You are not wanted in this general. Literally nobody likes you. You've been purged from Aether queues. Why are you still posting here.
On top of that, you attack people for being anime tropes, while you play an Au Ra. You're a crafty, sly shitposter who knows how todance around bans (not to be confused with ban evasion, but you do that too most likely), but you have much to learn.
Why are you here. For what? For whom?
It might just be me but interesting limbal rings actually makes an au ra's face more interesting to look at
>what is a public image board
That may be so but he does have one of the better looking male Au Ra's I've seen at least. Which I'm glad there are some well done ones posted here in general since most random pug male Au Ra I see in DF look nightmarish.
It can work for Au Ra, why deny utilizing a racial feature to further extinguish it from the other races so long as it's used well?
Why are you getting so worked over it.
Who cares what anon thinks?
Most of the opinions in this general are worthless to each individual person so they end up doing what they want anyway.
If you dont you are probably a fucking cuck, jesus christ.
>Because it's overdone.
I don't watch anime or go on DA so I can't say I'm overexposed, but I think it's a shame that Au Ra's other race-specific option (being scales) is that negative to you.
It's not off base, how many people see highlander females and instantly assume they're futa, let alone Roegadyn, just because of the muscle? You could quote Dmitris or whoever just like DA, but it all depends on your own perception.
Just to be clear, I'm not trying to make myself/my character(s) seem good
I can do that just fine as isbut rather open people's minds. If the average Au Ra wasn't an anime edgelord or down syndrome kpop nightmare, it'd be better for everyone, right?
I play an Au Ra and don't have nearly as bad experiences in pubs as you seem to. Granted, I don't play Balmung.
Most of the Au Ra designs I groan at are the ones that are using Limbal Rings in a way that stands out WAY too much. When it doesn't clash, like that first female you linked, fine. But she is the overwhelming minority.
Let's play a game.
Decide on a job for a future expansion, and give a brief description of what they can do.
Then, change an existing job's gameplay.
And then remove one existing job from the game.
The biggest shit-posters here are American though.
This is a hot Au Ra.
Too bad it's Ippiki.
(Au Ra)(You can have this)
Male Xaela are somewhat disadvantaged in that regard, the sclera are quite dark, even making bright eye colors(without limbals) stand out quite noticeably. Myself and others say this is positive, but I can see how you wouldn't like it.
Thanks I guess?
Why do you guys hate this guy? His character doesn't look bad to me. Just tired of seeing Au Ra with normal skintones though. Hardly ever seen any with really different looking ones like red or something else you don't see often. Waiting for the day that I see a non tacky chameleon/leopard gecko looking Au Ra
Ippiki is just an easy target due to all the silly shit he has said and done in the past.
Add: Ranger, simply a pure DPS archer
Change: Machinist using gunblades, and being a pure DPS
I don't really hate him, nor his character. I'm also not one of the people who shit-posted against him, though the second you quoted was me.
>People don't like the middle eastern look of BLU
I for one love several layers of colorful cloth
Yes, you get to be more of a pyromaniac later on, and getting more explosive fire spells.
Why is Blizzard IV so ugly holy crap. It's just dropping a big chunk of ice on an enemy. Why couldn't it be ice spikes forming out of nowhere.
Most people know him for either his long winded posts or his impossible to quench thirst.
Being someone who has raided with him he's really unable to see things other than the way he perceives them. You can offer up a viewpoint and he'll pretend to understand then go with a completely different idea. An outsider voice is worthless to him because of ego problems.
> only 1 more level until I can start healing 60 content
> finished all the relevant roulettes
> hunting log is done
> no FATE party on PF
> would do anything not to run great gubal library again
I should just wait until tomorrow, but that means another day of fucking pre-60 roulettes.
>When it doesn't clash
Every time I see this complaint, there's never any mention of the word 'contrast' and I feel it's because you don't know what it is. It's not a bad word, like 'clash', but it deals with colors that aren't of the same category. Just because you don't like it, doesn't it clashes. Stop that.
>The biggest shit-posters here are American though.
> telling someone who wasted a fourth of their life on an art degree this
No, please, go on.
Do you ever just give your characters a backstory or something, even though you don't RP?
Likewise, and I'm proud of you. Your only help is hugging and petting them all.
I'm gay anyway. I have no chance unless I convert them with my superior-than-a-woman-ever-will charms.
So I already did Kobold beastkind and got that sick nasty bomb bench. Is there any other beastkind worth doing? Mainly just interested in profit now.
The lizards offer some kind of crafting materials right?
A medium armor Job with INT-scaling/physical damage melee attacks that have 10 yalms range. They wields barbells as weapons (constructed from two traditional Geomancer chimes) and attack by flexing their muscles and posing, willing the earth into form to damage enemies. Godbert Manderville is the Jobmaster/teacher.
Limit Break 3 summons a gigantic stone pillar from the heavens, which you leap aboard, sculpt into the form of Godbert with Geomancy and ride Major Kong-style into the enemy.
This happens occasionally, it gives me direction when creating a character. Unfortunately it will also close off other ideas that I might appreciate more during the creation process and could have lead to a different character.
She's a Duskwight ex-bandit, lying low because she had done too well as a bandit. So I think (Bandit: no jewelry, sell every valuable for coin (no ear clasps), not just any bandit but a leader of them so sleeping with both eyes open, clear 180 vision, time fixing hair could be time robbing (bald)).
To be fair his world 4th group had plenty of problems outside of him.
>I've never heard an MMO community talk about anything but world firsts.
>"Therefore anything less might as well be world 500th (after the content has become facerolled by vastly superior equipment). It's easier to just others do the thinking.. I'm retarded"
> implying I haven't been in MMO circles so fucking long I'm so old that I need to stop playing video games but met my fiancee on one so we're stuck playing them forever
Yeah, no. Nobody has ever given a shit about anything but world firsts.
This is why nobody likes you.
Top 5 is usually what people aim for if they wanna make a name for themselves, but anything in the same week is usually the top players
We actually lost someone on like, day 4 or 5, and cut back our time pretty hard after that. People also had to go back to work after about day 13-14, which was right when we cleared A3S, which was pretty convenient
I would implore you to explain but that would require trying Ninja again.
Doesn't sound serious at all.
My ideal Geomancer would be more inspired in Shintoism or Taoism, using a Khakkhara as a 2-handed weapon and a Sistrum as a one-handed one.
Having area of effect buff and debuff abilities, and can make traps and whatever,
and can call elementals for help in battle, or summon them.
>With the chat mode in Say, use your keyboard or the software keyboard to enter
Free of Anima for now. What should I do, big fishing or try to jump on awkward terrain for the ARR sightseeing log?
>We will never get superior 1.0 version of areas again.
Why couldn't they just improve on those areas from the copy paste terrain and add interesting landmarks instead of an overhaul.
Nn xjv I love yiu
True. I'm getting very worried with the direction this game is going. It's almost going to a point where it was as bad as 1.0 in release.
It's a pretty game if you experience it yourself. You'll get to appreciate that about it at least.
Second reply* what is wrong with me today.
Anyway, you can check out videos of the 1.0 areas. They are bland but they look far better and bigger than 2.0 and 3.0's terrain.
They were just like Heavensward's zones. Huge areas with nothing in them but copy pasted textures.
The only thing worse about 1.0 zones were that they were copy pasting areas and not just textures. You can walk past the same mountain or corridor more than 4 times.
Superior 1.0 version of areas, you cherry-picker.
There are still things in 1.0 that did better and that's missing in ARR.
Like I didn't mention how copy pasted it is, but the terrain is far better than the new zones, and various elevation and wasn't completely flat.
>There are still things in 1.0 that did better and that's missing in ARR.
The only thing 1.0 did better was have gear that boosts your job's abilities. Everything else was an absolute failure of game design.
It can be a DPS increase to remove it if you're going to be moving for an extended period of time, but ideally you keep it on all the time and take advantage of your proc'd shots having no cast time to move if you need to
It's amazing reading the comments from people piping up now and again about how amazing 1.0 was but when you break down what it had that was good it's miniscule in comparison to the plethora of fuck-ups on display.
>Immersion of being an open world
>Gear not being class-locked
>More flexible cross-class and class customization
>Gear that boosts job abilities, yes
And some more that are little things.
It's not like i'm saying 1.0 is a good game, or anything though.
Did you know you can be with them forever?
You need only end it.
>I don't even know who you are
Sounds like something a rapist would say...
I'd meet him just to say hi, but that'll be about it.
It's as if you don't know who I am.
I asked where, but you didn't respond (granted I used /say instead of /yell, like you did).
I just wish the data were still available.
All that story/worldbuilding, all those high resolution models and textures, all those expensive mocap cutscenes; and no one can ever see any of it again.
Yep. Where XIV is a story told through talking heads and canned emotes, pretty much every single cutscene in 1.0 was done with motion capture actors.
They blew an absolute ton of money on that shit. It's probably where most of the budget was directed (given they outsourced the rest of development to China sweatshops).
Wooooow that's stupid.
I mean, they're right. I felt like a god playing SCH in FL, but still. That's stupid.
So is the new meta just to run your healer with a shitload of INT accessories or are they resigned to being boring and not multitasking at all.
As a SCH main in ARR, who was doing most recent content regularly, when I resubbed I went straight to NIN and rode it to 60.
It's fun until about 55 and then it quickly starts being shit. I don't play it any more unless I have to.
No experience with BLM, so can't comment on that.
Especially most of the music.
It's kinda sad and such a waste that they threw a lot of things for the remake, and all of it because of being a bad game probably because it was released too early. They didn't even just improve on the 1.0 system but they made a huge overhaul, rushed remaking it for 2 years and even worse, it's compatible for PS3 and didn't really improve on the expansion at all.
Dunno. I don't PvP in Frontlines but from what I've heard healers stacked VIT for extra survivability. Not sure if that's true, but apparently AST is good for annoying others because Nocturnal Benefic is an instant cast heal and shield.
I suspect healers still try to help out with DPS, but I think they just help keep people up and provide some method of attrition and annoyance with their toolkits.
I figured that this would be the best place to ask.
I bought the 2015 Holiday surprise box from Square Enix and got a copy of XIV in in as a code. I've wanted to play it for a while and figure that now my exams are over for the semester, it's a god time to try it out.
I want to activate it for the PS4 instead of my computer..
So my question is - with the code I have received - do I just put it into my PS4? The FFXIV website said that if I have a code, to put it in, then put my game disc in to install the content but obviously I do not have one.
I'm sorry that it's a stupid question
BLM has a higher skill ceiling than SMN, but very satisfying doing Fire IV and not messing up on the Enochian. People might find it difficult to keep up Enochian but you just have to be alert, quick, clever and ready, really.
I'm not sure if the code in the box is special, but usually if a code is for PC, it's for PC only and can't be used for PS4 and vice versa.
Either way, here's a referral code you could enter on the mogstation once you get to register.
It'd give you a headband for boosted exp and some other shit.
I have exiled myself from Ul'dah. I will proceed to begin a new rp life in the Coerthas mountains where I can be alone.

>tfw you break things off with your best friend in-game and they end up doing wildly better than they ever were with you ;_;
For classes that frequently have to change position(such as Pugilist)
How do you deal with a shitty tank or killing adds that aren't tanked? My DPS drops to shit when things frequently turn and I feel horribly gimped when I'm trying to kill an add without being able to benefit from rear/flank damage.
it doesn't ever get any better
>they end up doing wildly better than they ever were with you
Damn you must be a poor excuse of a player, why dont you switch games already and leave it to people who actually play the game and its content properly.
perhaps i will someday
>tfw you watch people come and go, friendships and relationships form and break and find yourself slowly distancing from everyone as time goes on
Pretty much all adds you have to deal with have either ridiculous hp (the slimes in the second boss of pharos, the rose things in first and third boss of arboretum etc) or you're given more than enough time to kill them (alarums for example) so it should never be a problem, just make sure to maintain your buffs
This is me but I also spend the entire time period this all occurs making loud clown horn noises.
Anything is possible with enough grease and/or magnets.
It has no special animations aside from the barrels spinning and clicking into place when you draw it (it does have a noise for that click though), and the ambient red lights fading on and off. You can see all that just doing a "try on" when someone links it.
A little disappointing but it's a nice meaty looking death machine and its name is ARMAGEDDON.
What do you think of this new
Blade & Soul
Can I suck your barrels?
BnS will not affect XIV's population for more than a month at most. The game has less content than just about any other MMO on the market. It's purely a 1vs1 PvP eSport game because that is extremely popular in Korea and that is their target audience. The Western audience is going to play it for a month or two, realize there is nothing worth sticking around for unless you are a PvP tryhard and then go back to whatever they were playing before.
More fapbait Kgarbage that'll last two months at most before crashing horribly.
i've had more issues with normies over my playtime, surprisingly. Your second statement is true, but that's been happening since the original rise of the bench last year.

Just being real with you. I'm sick of everyone being a depressive shitbag that just uses others as an emotional dump for expressing how sad they are. Like holy fuck dude we get it, you're sad. Everyone has problems and hearing someone bitch about the most retarded shit is so annoying and since they're usually very emotional and take stuff personally, you can't just outright tell them to shut the fuck up.

>Imperials have Ultima Weapon.
>A ancient, rare, possibly one of a kind weapon that can permanently kill Primals.
>The three city states are plagued with Primals and their followers.
>"destroy the Ultima Weapon"
>Thordan has used one of Nidhogg's eyes and a thousand years of prayer to elevate himself into godhood similar to Iceheart with Shiva.
>His first act in this is to permanently slay the Ascian who has been the source of the majority of your issues.
>He swears after that he and his knights will end the war with dragons and deliver all his people into peace forever.
>"Strike them down, and eradicate the root of the Dragonsong War."
You can do fine without them, though Foresight/Bloodbath are easy to get, and you'll certainly want Mercy Stroke later.
The critical skills are Provoke (tank), Swiftcast (healer/caster), Blood for Blood/Raging Strikes/IR (DPS).
The protagonist of FFXIV is essentially a Weapon (in the FFVII sense); a being ordained by the planet to root out that which might do the planet harm. And as Hydaelyn's very own Captain Planet you are primarily concerned with two things:
1. Primals, because they kill the planet by sucking up all its aether; and,
2. Genocide/war, because war is bad mmkay?
Garleans like to murder everything and the Space-pope wanted to rule everything as a primal king. Neither of these situations can really be abided.
those people seem to have severe self-esteem issues, and probably some mental health problems as well
you kind of need the patience of a saint to work with people like that without getting frustrated.
if you find yourself constantly surrounded by such people, maybe you should find a different community.
I guess I'm too old because giving that much value to people you met in a videogame and will literally disappear from your life once you stop playing that one videogame (no, being friend on steam doesn't count) is beyond me
One thing is caring, a very different thing is letting your life (your real life) get ruined by people you were supposed to play a game with
The problem is that you're trying to befriend or get in a relationship with unstable ebins. Its a combination of depression and egotistical nature (which is unmerited since most people here are terrible). That means that most people here act like sad pieces of shit in private, but at the same time still push an air of elitism towards anyone who approaches. Its best if you simply ignore people who do this and move on. You cant just 'make' someone be your friend is you're incompatible.
Then why do we have to pretend to be an actual person? I'd much rather be regarded as a souless force of nature rather than some dude you can go to and ask to pick up your groceries for you.
Sounds like youre the problem anon. I have friends I talk to literally daily from 10 years ago I met on RO. I don't care for your warped definition of the term because if that kind of close frequently conversation doesn't count them not much else would.
It's all a slippery slope from there, especially with his mental disposition. One needs to understand when it's time to stop caring, and that time is when you realize that you did all you were capable to do and the person you did that for doesn't deserve more than that. That's true for IRL friends as well, although the "I stop here" line is much further in that case.
But maybe you're right, he's just feeling horrible and tomorrow he will be ok, he's just a random anon on the internet after all so how should I know.
I said "in-game friend" in my first post as in "people you play ff XIV with and nothing else", since this happens to be the ff XIV general. I never meant online friends as you are defining them, what I said doesn't apply in those cases.
late, but thingken bout surfboards
There comes a point in which depressive people are just a pain to be around. There's only so much you and others can do to help or relieve their pain, even if temporarily. Wanting your friends to be happy is fantastic and something everyone should strive for, but never ever fuck yourself up over it. There's only so much effort and time you can put into someone until you realize they are a lost cause and want to stay in that depressive state for attention.
I'ma tell you something
People are fucked up everywhere, MMOs are literally depression/my daddy doesn't love me/I'm suicidal central
Finding someone who has their shit together and won't become clingy/dependent
especially if you're a girl or homois fucking astounding. Anytime you open up to these people they throw their thousands of problems at you and then expect you to fix them.
the first line in this is way too fucking true and it's such a terrible balance between "I'm going to kill myself" and "I love you"
I've experienced this in every mmo I've played for years. MMOs are a cesspool of escapism because its a genre designed around community with the people playing them being retards with bad social/life skills
Well I've never met people as you define them either. Who seriously just plays only one game together and refuses to never talk/play anything outside of it? Sounds like you run into some awful folk.
I have both online friends and ff XIV friends. The latter are my fc and my static, I talk with them on voip everyday, I care about them, we talk about a lot of shit and we have fun but man, they're not my friends, I don't let them condition my feelings more than "I'm feeling a bit angry because he's an asshole"
Perhaps I just misunderstood the op because I thought he was talking of this category of people and not the former.
>bored out of my mind
>explore remote outposts
I never noticed how comfy Camp Bronze Lake really was
And it's not only because of "AEHUAHEUAHEUA HOT BATHS", it's just the whole setting, the trees everywhere, the fact that it's built on beautiful ruins
I want a nymian housing area so bad
pretty much. I'm not where near perfect but one of my worst experiences with another human being had to do with someone I met on an mmo who was the clingiest, emotional, manipulative person I have ever encountered. it was a case of someone mistaking rp for real emotions basically
It's getting to that point, particularly with regards to Thordan VII's weird dark vision upon being defeated and the whole "the warrior of light has grown too strong; balance must needs be restored" thing.
I'm happy to be treated as a character, but it's frustrating when SE merely uses that as a pretense for filler quests where I'm made to port some dickbag's luggage (*cough* Minfilia *cough*). And what's more annoying is how we're always a bystander to NPCs in cutscenes because the sheer variety provided by the job system makes it too hard to choreograph story events; all too often do we draw our weapon before being saved by some contrivance or forced to flee.
Personal agency is another issue. eg. I'm an Astrologian. The better part of four successive Job quests were spent using the Aspected Benefic heal spell to save the lives of imminently dying soldiers/hunters. But when I finished the Vault what did my character do? Stood around with his mouth open like a complete fucking dumbass.
I think you have a abnormal definition of friendship. Not saying you or them are bad or anything. I just don't see how you can not consider people you frequently talk to and have fun with not friends just because they are long distance.
Wineport is really nice now that there isn't a dozen truckloads of people around at all times. Fallgourd Float is also pretty nice. There's tons of great idle spots out in the world but I'm drawing a blank on a lot of them
plus I need to keep some secret so I don't have people stealing my spots.
>too hard to choreograph story events
That's not even an excuse since every class comes with a standard attack they could be using. There doesn't need to be MNKs suplexing trains and WARs going berserk. A simple "oh my character threw a snap punch to stop that guy cool" would be MILES better than "and then Thancred showed up and he did some SICK FLIPS and saved the day the end".
They could use the WoW excuse. During one of their quests this troll gets killed and couldn't be revived because the spell damaged his soul. It could be that the weapons the knights use do more than physical harm and prevent you from mending flesh before their spirit leaves the body.
>But when I finished the Vault what did my character do? Stood around with his mouth open like a complete fucking dumbass.
Because that cutscene was for every job and it would be unfair if only people who were healers at the time save him, and completely meaningless if they heal and failed.
Even 1.0 cutscenes can't do anything job-specific like that except for job quests themselves. 1.0 is something where your character looks like a complete idiot looking so lost, too.
>eat chinese food all dungeon
>takes 50 mins
>ok bc im eating chinese lol
thumbs up if ur gay
I just started playing this game, what would be the ideal first class for me? I'd go either DPS or tanking, as long as i can solo during my free trial.
I find this game is not so kind to new players, as most guides are made for high lvl players...
>not consider people
Never said or meant that
But it's true that I think they are less important than my long-time online friends, which in turn are less important than my IRL friends.
If I stranger stops you while you walk and says you're a bad person you don't mind too much, do you? The only thing you have in common with that stranger is that you were walking on the same road. But if a close friend of yours says that than you'll feel like shit. It's the same concept applied on different levels.
I know, but apparently that's too much work.
And since it's also too much work to made 3 dungeons per patch and/or rollout Alex Savage nerfs before 3.2 I'd say SE needs to start giving the dev team more money and staff for what is currently their biggest cash cow.
If a major character dies onscreen in a world in which healing magic exists there needs to be a damn good reason given as to why they still died.
eg. Have me cast a Cure/Physick/Benefic spell on him (if the player is a healer, else have Alphinaud do it) only for it to subsequently fail "because he's too far-gone", or a character say something to the effect of your Troll example, but right now it's just a plothole.
Iceheart'sdeath was comparatively well-done (insofar as they don't retcon it like they did the Sultana) because it left no room for questions; she got hit with a fucking canon and fell umpteen kilometers to her death. There's no way to find/access her body thus she had no chance, but if I'm a healer on-site when someone is injured the Hippocratic Oath dictates that I'm a jackass if that person subsequently dies. Especially with the Warrior of Light's apparently Godlike presence of mind.
Yoshi actually acknowledged this problem in an interview once, stating that it would be unfair for those who don't play healers, but ultimately it's a storytelling failure and entirely his fault for creating the situation.
They're made for high lvl players because the leveling phase in this game is a joke and doesn't matter at all
Also it's pretty short
All jobs can solo all solo content, a healer does that better than a monk for example, but there's no relevant solo content in this game other than a few instances during the main quest
>I find this game is not so kind to new players
I don't mind gambling, but I was convinced that there was some other way. I figured my gear (just hq 55 on a couple since they are 50-52, one in adept) was just too shitty to reliably HQ difficult items.
