They're disabled on most multiplayer servers, though.

So besides the Snezka losing its optics for price reduction, and the Gornos losing the BTRs, was anything else in that patch shit?

I mean there was a bunch of small positive changes like T-62s getting 5% more accuracy, or the T-72s dropping 5 points, which are kinda meaningless but still positive changes. But was anything else truly a shit change? Enlighten me if I'm wrong please.
>>
>>128732307

A good change would be removing all R-77s from redfor.

Because the best two air forces rightfully belong to Uncle Sam.
>>
>>128733227
I didn't think the US airforce was worse off than Redfor, other than the F-14 being in the naval tab because REASONS.
>>
>>128733494

The Soviets can field more F&F radar guided missiles than the US which is straight bullshit.
>>
>>
>>128731191
I have trouble with it too. I usually give up and have to turn on labels because I'm a shitter, I rationalize it because I normally play pretty zoomed out since I don't have either a headtracker or a third hand to mouse the camera around while I'm flying.

It also pisses me off that when airplanes are leaving behind chemtrails the render distance is too short and if they're far enough away they only render if you look at them from a specific angle, and this is with all the graphics settings maxed out including draw distance.
>>
How does a thread for so many different games die so often/go so slow???

4chan has a fuck load of people that are super into military shit. I don't get how these games aren't more popular.
>>
>>128733585
2 Yak-141s at trained or 1 at elite.
2 Su-27PU at elite (2 cards of 1).
1 Su-27M at veteran.
2 Mig-29Ms at rookie or 1 at veteran.
(1 Mig-31M at hardened.)
vs
2 F-15Cs at elite (2 cards of 1).
2 F-16C Block 52s at trained or 1 at elite.
(2 F-14s at trained or 1 at elite in LOL THE NAVAL TAB).

Yeah I guess the Soviets do have an advantage in F&F radar guided missiles, but instead of stripping them of the R-77s, maybe give more AMRAAMs to the US?
>>
>>128734164
Because those people into military shit like to just obsess over the aesthetics of inanimate objects, don't have the aptitude or willpower to put in the time to learn a slightly complex video game, and are too autistic to deal with slight "inaccuracies" (see: slavaboo, hatobaby, etc) for their favorite weapon/vehicle/military unit.

I'm surprised they're even able to get to /k/ on their own
>>
>>128734649
Actually, this raises another question from me.

How many of these fighters are the Soviet players actually taking? Because that's 5 cards (6 with the Mig-31M) right there, which doesn't leave them room for SEAD or bombers and whatnot. Meanwhile the US only uses up 3 cards to bring all 4 of it's fighters.

And let's not forget how a lot of Soviets use the Mig-25 for their fighter.
>>
>>128734649

But even for the US F&F missiles shouldn't be on fucking everything. It makes more sense to just take them away from shit that shouldn't have them(this includes AMRAAMs from other blufor nations and the fucking Rafale).
>>
>>128734164
Most people would rather shitpost than actually play video games. Also, a metric fuckload of elitism and fangays.
>>
>>128735073

Its more of an issue with airborne decks(the thing the US should be much better than the USSR at but isn't)
>>
>>128730239
Who /FinalBlitzkrieg/ hype here?

>>

>>
>>128736191

>every single US plane has empty pylons(blatantly obvious on the A-10, where only 2 pylons are used)
>US planes have artificially increased fuel capacities with no time on target increase to compensate, resulting in longer reload periods
>none of the multiroles carry amraams or even sparrows

This is entirely Eugen's fault.

The OT-65A Vydra buff seems a bit overboard, with the new stats thats a huge amount of HE it's going to be spitting for the price. However I never see the unit in the first place so I don't know how it will end up playing out, The Dyna definitely doesn't need a price nerf if it gets 2275m range, and the buff for the Feibao was too small to accomplish anything and the buff for the other 4 missile top end sead was nonexistent.

Also the snezka change would be great, NSWP is dying to get a good combat recon. They already have another exceptional optics ground platform so not much is being lost.

It's bizarre how, despite the planefags being the biggest shitposters, can't fly to save their lives and sound like literal children, actually have the money to afford their considerably expensive hobby while the purist 'wargamers' are constantly begging for cracks. The nuclear bombs are shit unfortunately. Apparently the developers said that they are opposed to nuclear weapons so the "nuclear bomb" for the MiG-21 is just a conventional bomb with a really big explosion. Conveniently that excuse also allows them to not have to make all the lighting effects and mushroom cloud and shockwave and stuff for a proper nuclear explosion. Also makes it a damn shame that the F-86 module has a fully developed LABS bombing system but no nukes that would actually require using over the shoulder bombing to avoid blowing yourself up.
>>
>>128798767
>Apparently the developers said that they are opposed to nuclear weapons
That's not really the reason for the undermodeling of the nuke, it's just a fun gimmick that's not worth wasting dev time on. like Naval in RD

The thing that makes me really angry is the cockpit lights being disabled, how the fuck are you supposed to fly at night? Even real-life slavshitters didn't have to fly their plane by the light of a flashlight. How long could that possible take to fix? What else is really missing though, all I've noticed are a couple of minor bugs sometimes and the cockpit icing and pitot tube icing still need to be implemented but I guess those are pretty minor things.

LABS was meant for accurate toss/shoulder bombing, I have still yet to see its accuracy though and can achieve similar results just winging it and you don't need super accuracy with a nuke, toss bombing became far more accurate with modern CCRP systems and guided munitions.

idk about Bohemia but for ED & LN morals are explicitly not the reason these things are not included, afaik BST are actually waiting for ED to get on and redo the explosion fx so they can see if they can make napalm happen. As for LN and the nuke the line in the manual is a throwaway 'joke', if they were against nukes it wouldn't be included at all. It's basic implementation is as far as I know like many things in the MiG, not 100% final. They may be still waiting for ED to redo explosion fx or they could have just moved on to more important things like their 3+ aircraft in production.

I'll second this, DCS patch notes are shit. They forgets things and the format is different every time.
>>
>>128809648
They've steadily been getting worse and are at the point where patch notes seem to cover maybe 5% at most of what was changed. Can't blame them too much I guess though since the lists would be pretty long. BMS 4.33 didn't have any patch notes because it would've been too much of a chore. There's also the issue of translating shit to English since many of the devs are slavs.

I wish they would at least mention generally what was changed if they won't do specifics though.

>OP unit
literally its only good point is its speed and bomb load
Shityt 10% ECM

And what do anzacs have to deal with AA?

They have no sead and no artillery.

Hornets are better because they actually have a chance of surviving. If ANZACs could get two it'd be another story but at this point I barely even bother using it.

It's the same case as NK, factions shit on because they are part of a coalition so buffing it would make the coalition OP, even though commonwealth is one of the weakest coalitions anyway.

whats your point?

It's expensive, has ultra low survivability dude to it's lack of ECM.

Compare it to the deagle, which still has an incredible bomb load and high speed, and has a great ECM of 40%.

F35 Draken Wons, also good bomb load, not as big as F-111C but still fast, ECM 30%

It's not the worst bomber in the game but it isn't OP if you can call it once, have it kill a few units and have it shot down. If it were to have higher ECM I would completely agree with you that it's OP but at the moment its just a one hit wonder
>>
>>128824835
It might change to two cards with 4 1000kg bombs each, which is awesome for anzac.
>>

That would be great compared to what it is now, and two cards isn't a problem because it's not like anzacs have a wide selection of aircraft anyway.

IR missiles only. Theoretically you could use it with ARH missiles if you're within the range that the seeker can acquire a lock by itself I guess, don't think it works in DCS though. Does the R-77 even have a bore sight fire mode like the AIM-120?

You can lock a target with IRST with a SARH missile selected and once you launch the missile it will turn on your radar and start using it.

Anyway to check if the target is a friendly using IRST, or do i have to flip on radar real quick.
>>
>>128843979
Correct, no warning.

Yes, you have to either blip your radar quick or be able to ID the target in some other way such as knowing where all of your friendlies are, having a wing man/AWACS ID the target for you, or visual ID.

The entire range has been split in two with a Russian invasion of Ukraine scenario (red occupy west and blue east) with strict airspace and ROE restrictions, there is also quite a bit of "fluff" to go along with the missions in the pdf variety which somewhat helps the immersion.

I have no idea what the 1/3 rule is, though.

Upside Nimrods just bagged a Russkie sub.
>>
>>128868743
It means that you aren't sending up all your aircraft at once (with the 1/3rd rule on) only a third go out at a time so you have a continuous strike happening, rather than all at once.
>>
>>128868743
The 1/3 rule makes sure only 1/3 of the aircraft assigned to a mission are airborne at once. It's useful for long-term missions like AWACS or Tanker patrols. The rule basically automates rotating aircraft through to make sure something is airborne and operating at all times so you don't have gaps in your coverage.
>>
>>128868906
Do aircraft automatically know when to use tankers if there is a tanker mission going on?

My point was that most of the shit you get in IL-2 and mods is nowhere as crazy as the Triebflugel, the Salamander version of the Mistel, or even shit from the emergency fighter program like the Pe.1078 or the parasite fighters that were meant to be dropped by an Arado Blitz, or that rocket launched point defense interceptor that killed its test pilot and never flew ever again.

Played the Border Patrol mission in Steel Beasts today. After a short skirmish I won handily, the fighting got brutal. My Marders, Piranhas, and their dismount teams tried, but they just couldn't hold up to the oncoming tide of enemy armor. They knocked out a couple of platoons of BMPs before they went down at least.

My Leopard 2s were worth more than their weight in gold, however. We smashed at least a company and a half of T-72s and T-80Us before being overwhelmed. I started the mission with 31 Sabot and 11 HEAT, with 1 Sabot in the gun, 11 Sabot and 3 HEAT in the ready magazine. Everything else was in the deep magazine, which requires you to turn you turret to the rear (like 7 o'clock) to access it.

After killing the rest of the enemy assault force, I took my company along the enemy path of attack to mop up any stragglers and to link up with a distant border post to make sure nothing was sneaking up on them. There's a platoon of Leopard 2A4s on my left, another on my right, and a platoon of recon tracks a few hundred meters ahead, hidden by the fog.

Everything looks pretty flat from these perspectives. What dictates your engagements?
>>
At the end of the mission I'd lost 8 units and destroyed 65, stopping the enemy cold after they destroyed my first responders. The mission lasted 65 minutes, but the most intense fighting was in the first few minutes of the enemy attack.
>>
>>128926287
Is the AI retarded perchance?
>>
>>128926204

This terrain was pretty open, unfortunately. I started the fight near the wrecks of a friendly patrol we'd been sent to find, which was in pretty open ground. There were a few low hills the enemy could use to mask the initial part of their approach, and I had a lot of open ground to retreat through with the initial team I commanded. My infantry transports died pretty fast, and the Leopards didn't last too much longer after running out of ammo. I should have pulled out way sooner, but I misjudged it and got whacked. The fog was actually a big advantage for me, as it reduced visibility to 500 meters. Since my thermals could see right through it, I had a huge advantage over the initial waves of T-72M1s they sent in. Once the T-80s started coming at us it was a more even fight, and then the numbers started to tell.

With the Leopard 2A4 company, I just advanced and killed everything as soon as I could see it and get a gun on target.
>>
>>128926624
Nope, I just had a huge advantage in the initial part of the engagement because the first few platoons of tanks were an older model of T-72 and I could shoot them before they saw me in the fog. Once they got fixed in place and started going for battle positions to fight me, I called in a bunch of ICM artillery fire missions on them.

>>
>>128968851
You don't actually have to spend $100 on it. That's the own it forever, get a USB license dongle version. Paid content patches usually come out every 1.5 to 2 years, and they cost somewhere along the lines of $25 to $40. When you buy the $100 license, you get everything that's been released to that point. Hardware changes won't mess up your license.

If you don't want to spend that much money, you can get a time limited license at one of three price points:
~$10 for one month
~$25 for four months
~$40 for one year
They include any paid updates that come out during that term, but are bound to only the first computer they're installed on. If you have a hardware change or need to reformat, try contacting customer service. Unless you see yourself playing the game three years down the line, a time limited license may be the best way to check it out. Nothing else out there except Steel Armor Blaze of War is like Steel Beasts, and nothing else does modern MBTs and IFVs the way it does.

The hard thing there is that many games, while being wargames, are very different. Combat Mission and Close Combat are very different from hex games. You could list the titles that are easier to get into as an introduction to the genre, but then you'd basically have to write a guide for every game.
>>
>>128968851

It's not very hard, and you will suffice with keyboard and mouse. Something like a PS3 controller helps a bit though
>>
>>128969676
>>128973474
Yeah, a lot of folks just use keyboard and mouse. Mouse is actually superior for aiming as it acts like a virtual joystick and reads finer adjustments than a joystick does. I use my joystick to aim the gun, lase, fire, and do some commander tasks when I'm in that station. Otherwise I use mouse and keyboard. There are really solid tutorials available in game, along with a lot of information on the wiki.
>>
>>128973618
To clarify, I use my joystick for immersion reasons, not because I feel like it's a hugely better option performance-wise

It's overpriced compared to the Longbow (which i agree is a bit underpriced) and weak compared to its similarly priced RedFor equivalent (which carries twice as many ATGMs while being faster). US/NORAD decks are usually better served with Cobras.
>>
>>128980856
2800 26 ap at 70% base accuracy. One medium heavy tank and the heli is payed off.

Those are atgm stats minors would kill to have. The havoc is very comparable at 130 price.
>>
>>128980856
Mi-28 is a prototype so it's not the "redfor equivalent". Apache is available in mixed and can 1 shot av12 tanks. That happens to be the fav of a great many medium redfor tanks.
>>
>>128981763
Dafuq do minors have to do with it? Anon isn't building a minor deck, and the lack of high-end attack helo options for minors (which I agree is an issue) is not relevant.

If building a US/NORAD deck it's almost always better to go with Longbows+Cobras in a high-low mix rather than overpaying for the Apache Jr.

I would consider the Havoc significantly better than the AH-64A: Better rockets, twice the number of ATGMs, ~20% faster. Maybe you consider the 5% acc and 1 ap advantage of the Hellfires more heavily than I do. *shrug*

Min cobras with 15 ap and shit accuracy are 60. Step up to 80 for meh tow-2 still with low range and no ha or armor. You need that range high ap and accuracy which apache brings to get shots in on USSR tanks guarded by tungs. Yes the 5% extra accuracy and stab with a bit more ap makes a good bit of difference. As does having 2 salvos of rockets unlike the one salvo of the havoc that is usually wasted on a transport.
>>
>>128983332
This may be a playstyle difference, desu. For me, the high end attack helo of choice when playing US/NORAD is the Longbow (which I think you'd agree is a better value and more effective in the scenario you mention). I then find quantity better than quality for the "line" attack helicopters, so Cobras fit well. I use the Longbows to deal with the Tungs or other long range AD, then send in the Cobras to mop up. For the way I play at least the AH-64A doesn't really fill a role that isn't done better by either a better unit or a cheaper one.

They can move via chopper, deploy on the ground, and engage in infantry combat, but they cannot use the hold command, cannot capture objectives, and cannot be separated from their transports.
Engine changes addressing this are in the pipe for Southern Storm, dropping either in the summer or fall of this year.

I said the Apache-A is overpriced in a US/NORAD deck, which I still think. At ~115-120pts it would be more appealing.

I don't do mixed decks so can't really comment on its fit there.
>>
>>128992802
When a unit you call out a maximum of 4 times usually 1-2 times is arguably 5-10 pts over priced I consider it a non-issue. You still get the exceptionally cost efficient apache that unless you are a dumbass is going to pay for itself 3 fold.

Units like cheap line infantry or workhorse tanks being over priced is the real issues as they are not unicorn units capable of making back 3 times their value on a regular basis.
>>
>>128993641
Just trying to help an anon with his US deck, idgaf that much about the Apache cost debate that seems to have struck such a nerve.

I'd have to agree that pricing at the bottom end is a bigger deal, the five point increment means some things end up being way overpriced or underpriced, percentage wise.

I have created a tutorial scenario and will DAR it sometime within the next thread, if life events do not restrain me. Details will be within the scenario and DAR itself.

Did you even read the proposed patch notes? The NATO sections are almost entirely nerfs. Nearly every REDFOR change is a buff, with the only exception being some availability changes for the chinese and the buratino nerf (which is completely justified, it's OP still). Gornos will lose BTRs but gain shock training, which is great since as of now they are no different in infantry combat than 10pt motos.
>>129010083
Literally from the last patch
- BMP-1's GROM gun accuracy increased from 20% to 35%
- Danish Vildkat price increased from 20$ to 25$
- Japanese Hachi-Nana Shiki price increased from 25$ to 30$
- Soviet 9M33 missile used by the OSA loses the radar trait, range set to 2800/2275
- Soviet BTR-80A availability per card increased by one step
- E-German SPz BMP-1 SP-1 price reduced from 15$ to 10$
- S-Korean KAFV 40/50 price increased from 10$ to 15$
- Polish W3-W Sokol price reduced from 75$ to 70$
- American MH-60L DAP price increased from 60$ to 65$

All changes that greatly benefit REDFOR

Anyone have a good guide to manual targeting for sub sims? Everything online I fine is either completely without comment and therefore useless or a bunch of scrubs using magic maps to do half the work for them. Or perhaps you could help me directly. As I see it, you need to find the angle to your ship, identify it, use the range finder to find its distance (I'm not sure what feature I'm supposed to raise it to, the highest? the flag?), wait 3'15", find its direction and distance again, mark the line it traveled to find its bearing & speed, select when you'll want to release your torpedoes and set the AoB and distance for that point, and fire?

>>
>>129043986
Read MaGui's/whichever GUI mod you're using's manual, it tells you everything you need to know on how to use its instruments. And don't fucking use SH3's retarded default GUI. And don't fucking play SH3 without mods.

>'m not sure what feature I'm supposed to raise it to, the highest?
Yes, the highest point of the ship unless otherwise noted, not shit mods should rework the identification book so that they point out which point of the ship you should use for calculating the distance.

>wait 3'15"
It's an approximate (read: half assed) way to determine a ship's speed in knots by measuring the distance between two points on the map, marked at time 0:00 and time 3:15, or multiples of that. The problem is that it returns an aproximate speed, and while that is fine for playing vanilla shit (ships in vanilla always travel at rounded speed, eg exactly 8 knots) it most definitely isn't fine if you're playing not-shit mods as that will not be the ships' true speed.
>>
>>129046538
Also, the document you should be looking for is called MaGuiInterfaceRAoBF.pdf.

As for the attack procedure:
1. Identify.
2. Find range. Don't rely on the notches, use the notepad thing instead as it's much more accurate.
3. Mark the ship you're using as reference point on the map.
4. Repeat step 2 and 3 every few minutes.
5. Draw a line passing through the marks. That will determine the contact's true bearing unless the faggots changed course. If that's case: if they're zigzagging, disengage, build some distance between you and them, reengage an hour later at the very least. If they're not zigzagging you may want to re-position yourself anyways as that might generate unfavorable angles.
6. Determine your AoB to the target. You can do that either with the whiz wheel (the wooden thing the captain uses in a few scenes in Das Boot, which I will not explain how to use, as that is covered in Magui's documentation and not only that), or via the map, by tracing a line that starts from your sub and intercepts the contact's course, then using the goniometer, centered on the point where the two lines intercept. Keep in mind that in SH3 if you move the periscope the angle on bow gets accordingly recalculated, but the more you move (sail) from the point at which you calculated it/inputted it in the TDC the less accurate it will be. Now, ideally you want to be a as close as perpendicular to your target's course as possible, so that you have less of a chance to miss if you fuck up/use the Dick O'Kane method.
7. Try firing torpedoes only when the gyroangle reports bearings inferior to 20 - the higher the angle it reports the more accurate you'll have to be with distance measurements.

Let me know if you need something else. Hell, let me know if you read this at all.
>>

I love T-72 S1's They are armored enough to survive punishment, and have great all around armor and 20 ap to pop 2av at max range. Group 3 and micro them as a platoon, attack, fall back, regroup, attack again. Use bm-27 to soften super heavies, and if lucky kill them. Spam mortars on supers to reduce their accuracy and you can bum rush them for ap scaling kills. Don't be afraid to send a suicide su-22 to kill them either as that is their intended role.

Tokyo Wars, an old manga where the Soviet Union invades Japan and then gets their shit stomped hilariously.

It contains such spectacles as:
>LAWs frontally penetrating T-80Us
>VDV losing to smaller amounts of japanese reservists
>VDV gunning down their own major and then attempting to surrender to said reservists, before themselves getting executed
>Soviets killing reporters/civillians left and right
>Su-27s getting completely shat on by F-2s, the Japanese lose only one aircraft in the entire war, and it's from BVR
>Japanese sub gets hit by more than 6 depth charges; still sinks Kuznetsov and it's entire escort
>Old Recoilless rifle hits T-80U on the front turret an penetrates the K5
>Light infantry shitting on entire battalions of Soviet mech/tank forces
>Entire thing is in moonrunes with no known English translation

But it's got pretty sweet art so there's that

Despite losses of some aircraft and surface craft, I managed an 'Average' victory after the Norwegian frigates got in amongst the missile boats. CMANO has some nifty cutscenes between some of the missions that I would like to show you guys but I can't find them on YT and don't really know how I would record them or play them back even. The short version is the Russians are massing armored and motorized divisions on the northern border of Norway and the Norwegian PM is bitching about it. Next mission previewed. Will report back.
>>
>>129091089
Why do people buy trainers? I know the L-39 is supposed to be fun to fly and stuff but that's 50 fucking dollars you could spend on a plane which is fun to fly and can actually blow stuff up too seeing as this is a combat flight sim. At that point why not play FSX or something which has the whole world and a gorillion planes instead of just a tiny little theater? I'm just curious in case there's something I'm missing.

2/10 Apply yourself and stop upvetting every unit
Logistics:
Drop the command tank and pick up a light vehicle of some sorts, even the shittiest one is better than having 5 CVs and if you're going to put your infantry CV in a helo you might as well spring for the fastest one for those maps like D-Day where getting your CV into position is good.

Infantry: Too much of your shit is in helicopters, they're overly expensive and are a hassle to deal with compared to motorized vehicles. Either you get shot down on landing after the initial helicopter rush or you have to land so far from where you need to go that you wasted all that time you gained going 'fast' anyway. Upgrade to a stinger C and get yourself a Rifleman card in a 5 point transport, 50 units of infantry aren't going to last in a 50 minute game if you get dragged into a slog. SMAWS are overrated but if you must have them put them in LVTP-7AIs

Support: Stop upvetting shit(except maybe the atcams), get rid of the M110a2. If you're taking two cards of arty one of them should be mortars. Consider replacing the atcams with paladins on prefrence.

Tanks: Go big or go home, paying 5 points per AP/armor for the m1a2 over the HC is well worth it. Most people prefer the M1IP over the base abrams for the same reason.

Recon: If you're going to put anything in helos for an opening rush considering putting rangers in blackhawks instead of all that shit in your infantry tab.

Vehicle: Not hugely bad, but this is the vehicle tab after all

Helo: A second set of inferior Apaches is redundant, consider DAPS.

Plane: Literally the worst ASF options available. A card of block 52s or a C-Eagle is many times better than what you picked.

If you're picking 5 cards of planes you'll probably want SEAD, use prowlers before you try using a raven. Also have a look at F15Ds and Nighthawks as they are usually a staple of most burger decks.
>>
>>129091839
Anything is possible anon, but it won't be fun. I got my Thrustmaster HOTAS X for like $35 a couple of months ago and it's cheap and plastic but it works pretty well, why don't you get something cheap like that? A single plane for DCS costs more than that anyway.

Hate how retardedly powerful the artillery is in that game.

Trenches become instant death-traps the moment opponent brings artillery, two 7,5cm field howitzer shells popping within 2-10 meters of a trenchline automatically kills 2-5 dudes regardless if they are laying down or not. A short barrage essentially purges trenches from living things. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Many battles become absolute pushovers even against troops that have been digging in for entire week. The moment you bring in artillery, you win.

It even seems that artillery is less effective against infantry that is just laying down in the open.
>>
>>129092386
But why? So one of you can play flight instructor and yell at the other person and jerk the stick around to fuck with them, or what? Something like an F-14 is cool because both people in the cockpit have lots of stuff to do.

So I'm new to Wargame and this is my first time trying to build a deck. I've tried to have a range of prices for different roles. Just now realized I didn't mess with any of the training ratings so I will need to go back and change that. I guess I just need to get a better working knowledge of what is/is not cost-effective. I also wanted to build a really specialized deck that would be 1979-era Soviets rolling into Afghanistan. Is that the sort of thing I could take into MP games?

You don't need two base konkurs squads, they are shit. Also Strela3 is shit. Also use wheeled transports because otherwise it will take half a day for them to get anywhere.

Abhorrent. Remove that artillery and replace it with a card of vasileks. That Shilka can do good for you in a war against infinite helis, but you don't need both them and Strela. Take the BukM.

>tonks
Where are your heavies? You only have workhorses but no actual killers. Take the T80UM or T72BU. Also throw away the T-55 and T64B, you can keep the T72B as that shit is actually good. Take a card of T72A or T-80.

>recon
You don't have enough of it. You need helicopter recon. as well.

You can play motorized, but you need to then specialize your unit composition for that and also pick your fights for that. Specialized desks are probably not advised for new players, as they really require you to know about unit composition and where each type of unit shines. When you specialize or go with a minor nation, you often open yourself up to weakness or a missing unit or two.

ED just nerfs everything by default, unless they can get hands on the actual data from field tests. This makes almost all soviet shit underpowered as fuck, because it's still in use. That's why they couldn't make a modernized version of grach and had to go with the 25T prototype that never existed. Or make the "supersonic" anti-ship missiles that can be shot down with a machinegun, even though it's an obvious bullshit.

It's not realistic because ED don't have an access to any test data. And they won't just use the data from open sources because it's unreliable. That kh-31 missile has an underpowered export variant (to serve as a practice target for other missiles) that was sold to USA and it has better specs than ingame military version. >"It is possible that the night goggles worn by pilots result in reflections," he said, adding that the ministry was looking at resolving the problem within the next two weeks.

First and most importantly, learn to fly the SU-25T and the TF-51D (SU is a good all around CAS plane, TF-51D should be used to learn how to do energy management as it's not a jet), that should give you an overall taste of what DCS can ideally be like. For this, a flight stick should be primordial.

As for your questions:
>Should I find peeps to fly with?
If you want. Sometimes planefags assemble and fly some ops. If this happens and you want to participate, just hop in the TS and ask for instructions. Else, just friend anyone who flies DCS on steam or whatever you use to chat with people on the internet.
>How long should I practise on my own?
Up until you can fly, then I'd say you should train on missions and target ranges until you can employ your choice of aircraft as effectively as you want to in it's engagement and flight envelope.

>planefags crying about multiplayer
You guys don't realize that most servers run airquake missions because they are practical. The servers are meant to be like this so that pilots of any skill level with any plane, can jump in and fly. There is no way you could run a large server with aircraft relying on each other like in real life and coordination because majority of the people who play populated servers can barley into air combat. It would be one big clusterfuck of incompetence and nobody would be able to get anything done. So they run simple missions with very little to hold you to so that they can cater to a large audience and assure that all aircraft can be utilized whenever you feel like flying whatever you like to fly on multiplayer.

I don't remember IL-2 being like that, at least not on the full realism servers.

This is pretty common. Imagine if reading a briefing was required.
>>
>>129139084
Even in the few shitty servers that are on right now people read the briefings. I think it's just a problem with DCS' community.
>>
>>129137153
You can cater to a large audience and still have objectives and rounds and shit you know?

Like il2.

>T-62 rate of fire expending rounds in combat conditions 4 RPM
>T-62 actual load time of a round 6 seconds
>T-62 speed loading without laploading, 10 RPM

But you can't tell people that, they'll just be butthurt over how the M60 didn't have any rate of fire advantages.

Also, pretty much all known knowledge on the T-62.
