Yeah this game has crazy details about that likeflowey is the person who makes Papyrus make Undyne make you deliver the letter to Alphys.

A lot of the reset dialogue like if you killed Toriel and reset to save her have a huge impact on the player. It really strengthens the game rather than 'oh she's dead now i'm sad but i cant save her'. People really don't expect to be called out on it. And it's a shame more people don't experience that kind of thing.

I like to imagine that Tobydog has some sort of mind or emotional-control abilities, given how strangely some characters seem to act around him. Somewhat similar to the indoctrination of the reapers in Mass-effect, possibly, but sometimes with more unpredictable results early on.

Toriel in hardmode is whack as fuck at the end when he shows up, just wandering off to bake pies instead of even trying to digest the weirdness of what's going on, Papyrus flies into a couple of rages (admittedly, he also gets angry at Sans' antics and other things too so it's not completely out of the blue) when he shows up, Frisk, the most DETERMINATION-filled child in existence does fuckall to stop him when he absorbs the amulet, Mettaton attaches a bomb to him in one of his show-segments in spite of every person in showbiz knowing how much viewers hate watching cute animals die, and finally and most damningly, the hell that ensues when Toby is allowed to take the throne.

In spite of the ruins having the empty house of the sad, protective old mother, in spite of Snowdin wondering where its goofy but gallant skeleton protector went, in spite of Waterfall no longer housing the heroine who NEVER gives up, in spite of hotland being down a little nerdy dinosaur, in spite of the MTT resort losing its star... Sans, who seems weirdly elated, tells you that everything seems inexplicably better, and everyone, even himself, is inexplicably happier.

He thanks you for killing his brother, and hangs up.

I think that's pretty much it.

Chara is a gender-ambiguous kid with a creepy smile, a strong hatred of humanity, and a dangerous and shitty plan that got them and their best friend killed. They seem to be stronger and more driven than Asriel, given how they pushed him into the buttercup plan when he was clearly uncomfortable with it, and continued insisting that they go through with it when he tried to back out while they were on their deathbed. Outside of that, everything is up for interpretation.

You want a Chara who was born a vicious, selfish little cunt and exists only to cause as much suffering as possible, whatever. You want a sad poor sweet abused suffering little button Chara who wanted justified revenge on the humans and thought that the best thing they could do with their life was give it to Asriel, sure. You want a generic brown-haired sweet and demure waifu Chara who you domestically abuse for no real reason? Uh, that's fucking weird.

Whatever you go for, it's not debunked, so it can be canon for you.
