>Tips for new players
-- You can change vocations at level 10 at the Gran Soren inn or BBI.
-- STOP asking “would you rent??” without posting their inclinations/skills. Good-looking pawns with Guardian or Acquisitor still go straight to the trash.
-- Character appearance can be changed later on, with an item bought in the Encampment.
-- Don’t miss your sidequests: http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Side_Quest_Progression
-- Make sure you understand the romance system before you get too far.
-- Just experiment; a few levels in this and that won’t ruin your goddamn build, you autist.

So, I bought Dragon's Dogma on PC. Here's how it went:
>NPCs do all the work for you
>suddenly, get to create a character
>"Hey, Guts is one of the premades!"
>dragon shows up
>"Fight the dragon!"
>hit him a few times
>dragon rips my heart out and eats it
>music starts playing
What the fuck? Really? Is this a joke? Is Capcom fucking with me?
There is only one escort quest that is worse than Symone's.
home key or McFX.cfg to toggle AO in v2. for performance: disable the depthbuffercalc in Common.cfg for a few FPS if you don't want depth effects(AO/DOF).
ENB is almost ready to start using, Boris is adding detailed shadows and skylighting or something then he'll release the loading screen fix.
You came to the wrong isle, motherfucker.
My fucking nigger.
>I HEARD WARRIORS SUCK
>ARE WARRIORS ANY GUD?
>IS WARRIOR EVEN FUN????
Deserves to be in the OP, honestly.
Didnt know this was on PC now
Time to get excite again
Reposting my snake/raiden bro team from the last thread
>First run of DD back on PS3
>Manage to get Quina as Beloved completely by accident, didn't even know the game had this romance system and thought she was just there canonically
>Want to romance Mercedes
>Fuck up and get locked out of the Arisen's Bond quest, so just give her ridiculous amounts of Cloudwine to max her affinity out
>End up with fucking Caxton anyway
This time I swear to fuck I'll do it right and get Mercedes, just giving them the Arisen's Bond guarantees them as beloved as long as you don't make them hate you after right?
God damn you Capcom I NEED MY BERSERK GEAR. I don't want to boot up my PS3 just so I can use a fucking sword.
>no Arc of Motherfucking Deliverance
I've started playing already. Level 23 or 24 now, hiring is appreciated. Steam ID: Ruskia
Run the tentacles don't stop spawning or you can fight them for a bit and get like what is it 500 exp a pop?
Hope you killed that ogre earlier friend.
The first member of my bandit group, an exiled elf who speaks at the moon. The work has just begun.
Sorry to post a dumb as fuck question, but when I change settings on PC, what fucking button do I need to press to accept changes?
I adjust my settings and I'm mashing my keyboard like a retard to no success
>TFW the first time you stop a big monster barreling towards you with arc of deliverance
Posting again from the last thread. I took your suggestions and just messed around with some of the presets. First image is what I did on my own, second is the preset. The profile on the preset looks good, but dead-on it still looks like a frog. Any way to remedy this, or just keep throwing crap at the wall 'til something sticks?
>tfw you shoot down a griffon in mid air with great gamble
God I love this fucking game.
I'm having this weird technical issue, I've tried googling to no avail.
Everything runs smoothly at 60 fps at max setting, which is exactly all I wanted. Except, once I got near the Gran Soren outskirts, my framerate will stutter and drop to the single digits, along with a loud fucking beeping sound. Exiting and reloading the game helped, until just now when I went into the Everfall the first time, where after a minute of reloading the game the same shit happens. Anyone have a similar problem, and a solution?
>many female pawns
>some of them look 18-25ish
>voices sound like michael clarke duncan
alright, I know you guys are into trap shit, but even transexuals make an attempt at masking their pitch.
>/ddg/ was a corpse a month ago

Might want to make an appointment with the eye doctor.
also fighter>strider> warrior >assassin for ranger build sound good?
All classes and climb monsters, but Striders indeed have access to Scarlet Kisses, which you can use while climbing to do massive damage. Ranger and Assassin have access as well, Assassin also getting a similar skill for swords.
Can I use fast travel for escort quests?
If I can, do I just have to have them in my party, or do I pick them up?
I have stones at the witchwood and fort, so if I can, I can get these done fast.
>mfw my character's hands clip her hips when she walks
I need an imgur link for reasons, because surely someone compiled all these, right?
>Post game NG+ with me (Sorc) and Strider Pawn
>fight a drake outside of Grand Soren and get it to about half health
>My motherfucking face when my pawn climbs onto the drake and BTFO him with a barrage of Scarlet Kisses right to his heart
Holy fucking shittttttt
Anyone who didn't play the game on console MUST play with the menu music 'mod'.
I don't give a fuck how silly it is in retrospect, all you newfags need to enjoy the sheer guilty pleasure of starting up a high-fantasy RPG and being greeted with bangin' J-Rock. Definitely gives it an anime-ish feel.
So a quick survey: Has ANYONE actually recieved gifts/RC from another player yet?
>that fucking explosion sound as it lands
>that taking off an entire bar and a half of health
i don't know if you guys have figured this shit out but here's how i'm using multiple saves.
>Been playing since 12:30
>Take a break, cook some dinner
>Drinking waters and gatorade (3 to 1)
>Start drinking beers around 6
>About 9, started to get a bit tired
>A few more beers
>I am going to die
As I said before, when you hear it on the news, you'll know its me. Please don't cry for me Argentina, I died doing what I love.
>mfw pawn learns to cut harpies out of the air with a jump strike as warrior from watching you do it
I fucking love the pawn system
More games need something like this
It's like being a parent
This is literally the only upload of it left. It got DMCA'd literally everywhere else.
I know because I was looking for it myself
Can you change your character or pawn appearance after creation? I played this on PS3 before the PC release but I can't remember shit
>kill living armor in that arena after a gorillian years of waiting for my pawns to do magic/enchant my weapon
>death spawns and kills me
Anybody know what old DLC packs are included in the PC release now? I saw someone had the Eternal Ferrystone and that jester cap (the pointy one from Feste). Anything else? I need that Lion's Spine from Ashe on BBI.
Not quite. I don't like long hairstyles in these games because they don't make hair behave realistically. I also didn't spend a TON of time in chargen so she's not as cute as I would have liked. I kind of headcanon Yuzuki as being sort of plain anyways, though, and the more "feminine" I made her face look, the more she just looked like an adult with a kid's body. So I settled on this.
Go into the options for DS4 and go to settings then make sure "hide ds4 controller" is checked. You need to exit out of steam/teamspeak/discord whatever completely and then replug your controller.
If that doesn't fix it then dig up the button input dealio in the mod pastebin up in the OP and replace the .arc files in your steamapps/common/DDDA rom folder.
Also what should I make my character for Magick Archer? All I can think of off the top of my head is Meduka.
Just refunded the game. Capcom shills blatantly lied to me when I asked if playing with just 2 people in your party is viable.
>Yeah dude, totally! You can play however you want. Just you and your waifu!
And then I start the game and for my second fight I come across a pack of 8 wolves that stunlock me and 2 shot my main pawn. Hmm, maybe its just wolves that are a pain I thought. So I kept going and then on my way up the road I get jumped by 12 bandits. Yeah that's totally winnable with just 2 people, I guess I'm just bad right? git gud xD
If I'm going magic knight is it better to be perfectly balanced on attack stats or does it actually favor one over the other
also is Holy Glare/Furor really fucking powerful to offset the stamina drain or is it just shit?
Apparently its not available in america!
The one I linked is different from the one you linked.
The Screwattack one is the 'cinematic' version which focuses more on the story, whereas the G4 one is pretty much all gameplay set to the music.
Not sure which one you were thinking of/looking for.
>starts fisting it
fuck, man, I don't know why I'm laughing so hard
So wait, how the fuck do I get AO to function?
I've got it set to 1 in the McFX config file, and when I switch sweetfx on and off it makes no difference. Wasn't present in ENB either. This is with maxed settings and DoF turned off.
What am I doing wrong?
How did you guys activate AO?
Someone lied to you anon, you're supposed to be mixing and matching and whacking different pawns in to your party for full enjoyment.
You can't two person until later levels when you won't get eaten so fast.
>All those bad/middling reviews
>all those reader reviews by dumbfucks who think skyrim is any good
Why did you remind me. All the hate and sorrow is returning to me.
>mfw just got jumped by a cyclops AND a chimera
Are any of those escort quests worth doing?
What the fuck is English localization teams and their obsession with the word "aught?" It's used a fucking million times in FFXIV's English script too. Is it because it sounds old timey or something?
I am three minutes into the story and I have seen
>I'll tell you if aught occurs
>Surely someone has aught you can do for them
And then this shit.
I guess I can already start working on my Dragons Dogma drinking game.
HELP HOW DO I MAKE A LOLI
IT SAYS "THIS HEIGHT IS DISABLED IN YOUR CURRENT COUNTRY"
I'M IN CANADA, WHAT DO
I know it's a typical fanboy response, but seriously... looking at it as objectively as I can, I can't see any major faults with DD, especially given a 30 dollar price point.
Sure, it's clunky, but it easily stands up with any number of other open-world RPGs. Shits all over Kingdoms of Amalur, for example, and KoA was fucking licked up by the masses.
And it can't be dated-ness, sure it's from 2012, but there are not nearly enough revolutionary gameplay mechanics that have come out that it would benefit from.
Fair enough. I agree that the ScrewAttack one feels like more of a trailer, whereas the G4 one is more like "here's a bunch of gameplay with the music playing".
Getting there. Now to escort the real Mercedes the Lustrous Targe and get her sword from the duel.
If someone could take her for a spin I would appreciate it, Need rift bux to fix her inclinations.
I'm sure u boiz are tired of questions like this, but should I stick to each vocation until I max them out or move on whenever?
Is mystic knight as dank as it seems?
CE can let you change your face whenever from the main menu.
For reshade you'd have to activate depth if it wasn't, but it should be. ENB's is on by default too.
Reshades sucks though, don't bother with it.
Just skip that group of bandits entirely.
It's really just the ones with the shields that are challenging. The other's you can just stunlock and kill like anything else but the shielded ones require some level of tactics and hoping that one of your pawns grabs him and holds him for you to attack.
For the wolves just move around.
Shameless reposting for the new thread

Hey guys, started playing tonight.
You guys protect your mage while they carry for you, right?
Your monitor is busted man. The gamma is at default, it's not even dark!
I might redo it a bit later but it works for now. You're actually using my 2nd choice hair style though I wasn't sure if I'd get annoyed with it at some point.
>Your monitor is busted man. The gamma is at default, it's not even dark!
I'm being sarcastic, bro. That preset looks just fine.
I'm just mocking the graficsfags who go THIS PRESET SUCKS BECAUSE OF CRUSHED BLACKS on TheLazy et al, but fail to present any of their own.
>>You guys protect your mage while they carry for you, right?
>Not being the mage yourself
>PC controls GOAT with some minor alterations to settings
>Get to Gran Soren
>Switch to Strider
Oh god I forgot about bow and melee having different buttons. This is such a clusterfuck. I can't turn off button help because it loves to switch from bow to daggers on its own
Do I deal with this clusterfuck or switch to a controller so I can have plebeian-tier aim?
been renting/ return my brothers pawn for most of the day (so we stay similar level)
neither of us have got rent notifications or gift items
did capcom fuck up?
Hard to tell sometimes.
I still remember way way back in the day when the German version of Fallout 2 made all children invisible and untargetable just so you couldn't shoot them, which meant getting assailed by pickpockets constantly and not being able to even catch the kid and ask for your stuff back.
This game is an absolute cult classic and many people don't understand what we like about it. Every game has it's list of problems but this one tried something different and corrected many of those issues of other rpg's while creating new one's in the process but it's something new, and fresh as a game. Sure you can say the fantasy portion of it's generic but there lacks a game with the elements that this has in the understanding that it does about it's own lore to the point where you use what you know about the creatures in combat. This game is it's own genre all together in the same retrospect of the dark souls games and people need to understand that.
Mage is a feminine role. I also have a mage pawn to do the spellcasting. What are you some kind of faggot?
Well it's hard to make fun of them when they're usually right. I deplore presets that add contrast and do little else. I get full on assmad when I see them praised.
+20% Str from Warrior, +20% Magic from Sorcerer, don't skimp on your magic score. The Fighter augment that makes perfect blocks is also a necessity. Aside from that choose your favourites.
Welp, CTD when trying to enter the mine to open the shortcut, anyone else ?
Also, its pretty cool that you can keep the fighter swords skills when playing MK. I leveled fighter to 7 to take prescience, switched to MK, then had the pleasure to see that I can still use upgraded Toss and Downthrust, even if I'll probably ditch them soon when I level MK or switch to using a mace.
that dude is so though btw
Pretty fucking often?
Well it's old fashioned for a class of indefinite pronouns. Aught / naught = Anything / nothing. I see what they're doing but it just sticks out like a sore thumb. When you use archaic language like this to add flavour, you have to be really careful not to overdo it or it calls too much attention to itself and seems gaudy.
>playing for the first time
>heard that you can pretty much switch classes, so start as fighter
>decide to switch after i max this shit into warrior, for a bit and then go fully bow (magik archer looks cool)
Fuck. Is the bow characters are even as much as fun?
To be honest, to me it feels a lot like a Mark I iteration of The Witcher 3. Like, not saying TW3 copied it or anything, but you can see a LOT of shared aspects. And everything that made TW3 great makes DD great.
I sat there wondering if there was a way to ctrl+z his actions, since I didn't know the individual image urls.
Another anon suggested that we somehow give ownership to a row of cells to each person who makes a pawn, which I would support.
I do miss the old comment section, though. The FAQ is in the way of it. Hopefully once everyone figures out how it works, we can comment on eachother's pawn's performances.
>escorting Reynard quest
>just started so no portstones anywhere
>get him to the Shadow Fort
>I read the map wrong and I was actually supposed to bring him to Greatwall Encampment
Thankfully I already cleared the quarry.
But still, that was hectic as shit.
And I know people hate escort missions but I think they bring a level of difficulty that's sorta fun. Especially if it's only you and your main pawn as escorts.
I don't know if it's because I'm playing on hard mode, because I've never played Dark Arisen (only v'niller), or because the devs added more in, BUT, when did they add more port crystals to the playthroughs? everfall has one now?
I had it in my storage when I started the game. Got some outfits and eternal ferrystone when I reached Grand Soren too. I presumed the former might have been a preorder bonus.
>hunting deer and shit in this spooky ass woods near some spooky ass trolls
>get to a creek
>What? Damn telescopic vision pawns, I don't see shit
And then I died.
They added them in in Dark Arisen.
Capcom noted the complaints about fast travel and sprinkled Portcrystals all over the place in the expansion and tossed in the Eternal Ferrystone to boot.
1st response tell me what kind of character to play that isnt magical girl loli
>Going down that big spiral path under the Pawn guild
>Everything going fine, the spooks aren't much of a problem
>Suddenly, cave troll thing
>Get two shot
I should've left that gate lever alone
So, if reynard dies in my escort quest, does he comeback to the game or hes gone? I'm doing his escort quest but there's a chimera which jumps on him everytime and it's a 1hit kill.
The save was done when the chimera was already coming to me so my only choice is to use a tp stone really quick before the chimera arrives.
That cave is confusing as shit in the first run. But it's really fun. Just make sure to watch your step and abuse long range magic attacks.
And you should bring a port crystal to put at the exit of the cavern since it's near an important location (Greatwall).
Is there any mod to give me the item to change my character?
He wont love you like you deserve, but it doesn't matter
I haven't got the game yet but I'm planning on doing the same thing. Just a run with me and my main pawn since I kind of like to roleplay a bit.
Is it really that tough? Anyone got any tips?
The Militant Dove in the Black Cat is the strongest bow available until you get a Herald's Helix, though it's expensive and you take more damage by wearing it. On the upside it looks cool as fuck and it regenerates your health.
If you sell your Monacle you should be able to afford it.
No it's my
actual nameand I don't really use it that often in video games other than some MMOs.
If you're gonna hack your shit, why not at least do 5 minutes of research to make your pawn not garbage.
das grape! where should I put the first one then if we get more than one per-playthrough. I usually sat the one in the tower down right at it's front door to avoid the trek over there, but it seems i have more options now. it also seems cassardis has one of those ferrystone waypoints too.
I still have no idea how you're actually suposed to kill this thing
I just got lucky and he jumped off the edge
It's doable. There's the odd large group of bandits or wolves you should avoid until you get a few levels but once you do it's manageable. Or you could just, I dunno, enjoy the full game.
Don't you mean "Remember aught of the manner in which wolves hunt?"
Alright, upon learning that there are actual sliders in the game, I think I'm finished. I only need input on which set of eyes to use?
>that feel when you forget to press take picture before screenshotting
Haven't played DD since release and thinking of getting it for PC.
1. Did they ever fix Warrior to allow it to have 6 skills instead of 3?
2. Did they ever fix the "beloved"/soulmate/whatever system so that it doesn't pick Asalam or >>128724247 by accident and such?
3. If not to either of the above, is there any chance that mods can fix it?
Yeah, I see it now. I guess I'm a little too impatient.
I assume hard mode is pretty retarded since it's not with the other difficulty options.
I aint no bitch but would you recommend steering clear for a first playthrough?
>spend 8 years killing the shield bandit at the top of the hill
>constantly reviving pawns because they get two shotted almost immediately after standing back up
>head further down the path
>six more bandits jump out
>one of them is another immortal shield bandit
Hard mode just increases damage you take, and stamina comsumption
You'll also be fucking drowning in gold
If you do pick hard mode pick fighter as your first class or else you'll just get 1 shot by literally everything
>fighting an Ogre in the mines, don't have the best weapons for the situation but I feel like I can manage
>make some good progress, it's almost dead
>it gets mad
How did I forget this?
Yes. It's not meant for first runs at all. It's way harder if you're a noob and it's easier if you have extensive knowledge of the game, but if you happen to have extensive knowledge and it's somehow your first run, you'll be ruining yourself with too fast level progression anyways.
>dont be afraid to ask questions in thread
>get yelled on to use google after being curious what this game is about
Mystic Knight skills look cool and feel good when you get them to work but they're just not practical.
I just end up using blink strike all the time. Maybe NG+ is too easy right now, and don't really fear getting damaged. Hopefully the use of shield becomes essential when I reach postgame again.
And the cannon spell is cool but really hard to apply.
I still don't know what hair looks good on my pawn.
Since it's your first playthrough, just go normal so you can enjoy exploring shit for the first time without getting one-shotted by bats and wolves popping out of the dark. You can always do a fresh hard mode run later, it's what I did.
Alright, how'd I do /ddg/? Fighter main and mage pawn.
1. no. mages and sorcerers have shit normal attacks, whereas warriors can still pummel things pretty hard without skills
3. no for 1, yes for 2 (a max relationship cheat). alternatively, just keep talking and giving gifts to whoever you want to be your soulmate and make sure they're the last person you speak to before heading out
Not really. The stamina nerf is a real pain in the fucking ass. Hard mode isn't that fun at all. If anything the hump would be like 60~70% of the way through the main game when you have enough stamina that it doesn't matter as much
So how common is weapon and armor loot in this game? Generally as a rule I try not to purchase gear if I'm going to find it around the place.
Also is there aught I should buy in town before setting out for the first time?
Does Assassin or Magick Archer have higher potential for CRAZY?
So I'm torn on what vocation to start with and how I should go about 10-100. After I get to 100 I want to be able to switch between Mystic Knight, Magick Archer, and Assassin on the fly with decent stats. How does that balance look like?
MA is flashier. Assassin is just big numbers on a spreadsheet. Ranger is where it's at. Ranger can basically wreck anything and everything because he can shoot 10 expensive, heavy, powerful blast arrows in a single shot directly at a dragon's heart or a cyclops' eye.
CRAZY in terms of flashy shit going on in the screen? Yeah MA wins that one though.
Finally got my Ducky Shine 5 in time for DD
Wish me luck you wonderful faggots.
What are some ways to make NG+ more fun and challening, other than BBI?
Some stuff I'm trying out right now are
>change physical appearance of arisen or main pawn whenever they die.
>no reviving pawns
>no loli mage that heals you up all the time
>have to eat food
>perfect attire to hunt down monsters
>Not Silk Lingerie
One in the Greatwall where the lever is.
One in the Cave where the big painted man is (also some good daggers at the tip of the spear)
- Both of these are Maximillion's missions so make sure you do those two.
One in the Witchwood, but if you failed Lost and Found you can't get it. RIP.
The last one before NG+ is the original one from vanilla DD which is at the top of Bluemoon Tower
In NG+ you can buy the other five.
I don't suppose anybody knows what face shape this is
Magick Archer Bruh. Focus on using skills from all it's 3 weapons in a combo on groups of enemies.
Because it's a good action game with very different classes and a lot of fun stuff to try. Also the community is fun, especially now with recording tools.
My Sorcerer Arisen and his muscle-jesus Fighter pawn.
If you want muscle-jesus in your life, http://steamcommunity.com/id/InspectorCM/, his name is Edwalton.
>that feel when translation of the vast majority of skill's description is just plain stupid in my language ( french )
I have to buy everything and see what it actually does, or check the wiki. A lot of things have terrible translations, its a shame for such a great game
For example, armor pieces which have status effects resistances are translated by 'negative effects', so I thought at first that most pieces had a downside to equipping them. Its legit one of the worst translation I've ever seen.
Question : what are those nests for ? its the second one I find but I cant do anything with them.
tfw desperately trying to scrape any possible leftover fun from the bottom of the barrel after having done everything the game has to offer
tfw want to start a new character but don't really feel like it anymore
I don't know why but he looks much better in the creator and the cutscenes. I think it's the eyebrows and cheeks that I fucked up with.
Probably helps that I actually put some effort into the mage since other people would be seeing/hiring her.
Why not install the game in English? Select English in the properties on steam for DD:DA. You obviously speak English.
Other than obvious horse mod, 6 slot warrior mod, and nude mod, what are other mods are you hoping for?
I want a piggy back mod where my pawns can give me piggybacks. Fuck horses, let my giant warrior just ride my little mage pawn all the way to the Shadow Fort.
English is this game's primary language and even it has some really shitty or downright wrong translations. These weren't fixed in the port either:
"Debilitated by the five archmagicks" is always some utterly retarded interpretation, and one of the shields you buy from the Black Cat does the literal opposite of what it says.
I'm only playin with ya anon. He looks pretty cool. I'm sure my dude would look horrific in screenshots. It's surprisingly difficult to make male characters in character creators but females always come easy.
>Gotcha bitchin' a drake with High Glicel just before it rams your ass down
A shame I only got my boots dragonforged.
The difference between both is 3 stamina per level and 1 mdef going the way of ranger while 2 str going the way of assassin. Assassin probably better overall choice but it's not significant enough to warrant playing a class you don't particularly want to play just for the stats, if that's your case.
Maybe the better use of your time is leveling both fighter and warrior to 9 so you can get their great augments, and gain a ton of HP and some decent defense, while gaining equal or greater strength as ranger, at the cost of the stamina growth for the duration.
>6 slot warrior mod
Mods are gonna have to mod in good normals for mages then otherwise they'll be whining too.
>there will never be an expansion/mod that is a quest to give your pawn true sentience
Why even live?
Also, do warriors really only get 3 ability slots, or have I fucked up somewhere?
Depends on your group set-up really. If you have fighters/warriors that'll draw attention, I'd be more inclined to give my sorc pawn the slow, big hitting shit like Bolide, Gicel, etc. If I'm running with just me and my pawn, I'll probably give her faster shit to cast.
Also depends on where you're fighting. Using Maelstrom in BBI for example can suck because you won't be able to see shit in closed, tight areas.
Nah you're still somewhat right. I made his eyebrows too small/light so they look like they got scorched off. I'd change it if I could.
Still glad at least someone else likes my qt brown grill pawn.
i find frigor to be shit because the things that count that are weak to ice can take big hits so gicel takes care of it
Regular Comestion on the other hand is lovely. Fast casting and high impact
>mfw the first time my pawn one-shot a drake with High Glicel
