How big dick should mage deeps be at 721? I feel like my damage hasn't improved all that much for Arcane since around 710. 65k on Kormrok, 51k on Soc, 81k on Xhul and 51k on Manno. I was Arcane on Soc and Manno, Fire on Korm and Xhul.

Should I drop the Arcane spec and swap to Frost for the other fights? I'm mostly geared for Fire, I only play Arcane because fire sucks on some fights.

I have normal class trinket and normal PoF for Arcane and 4p for Arcane, Sandman's Pouch and Heroic DSI for Fire. I have enough crit to hit 100% with Sandman's up, alongside nearly 50% Mastery but only 3p tier. (One tier piece is normal chest, so I use Ancient Gorestained wrap as Fire and have 3 tier pieces)
DPS seems fine as Fire, most fights I play it I hover around 70k (I did 67k on Tyrant last night despite forgetting to change out of my Arcane gear and so having on 38% crit). I have Legendary ring, but it's only 738 at the moment and it's being popped by our ret paladin (we only have 2 melee DPS...)

The real issue is the fights where fire just doesn't work, like Killrog or Soc. I just can't make Arcane work.

Fire works fine on kilrogg, you should typically get your 2nd sand mans proc as you exit the phase just in time for the ring and lust. I played fire on it once and got a 11 million ring pop.

So just quickly looking over some things, you're fuckin here. You're using your cooldowns off sync with the ring, this is turbo bad. You need to know when your raid is popping the ring and use your cooldowns with it.

You're using Blazing speed instead of Ice Floes, you should use Ice Floes for better uptime, a huge part of dps is just fundamentally making good use of your globals, being able to always be casting and not spending time doing nothing.

As far as that Manno parse goes the mis-timing of your cooldowns is really hurting you.

Sandman's is on a 115sec ICD which means it should be up every time the ring is off cooldown which is when you're going to start combusting anyways. The problem is it has that 15% which can fuck you, I've had pulls where I don't get the chance based proc until after the ring buff has expired, which then means it's off sync with the ring for the rest of the fight also.

It's a little be better then in BRF when you just hoped Oregorgers would reproc for every combust.

Unless you're saving the ring for another phase. Or, unless the trinket procced on trash and is still on CD (or you've just equipped it, which puts it on a full CD). SMP is generally just a pain in the ass no matter how you slice it. It would be far more usable if it was manually activated, but this is Blizzard, fuck nice things.

As far as a raid environment goes you should be making sure it's not on cooldown before pull. As for the holding ring thing, well you're right, and that does suck on a fight like gorefiend if you're going to be getting a 2nd or third feast.

But in the current state of things if you really want to do well as fire, the fight almost has to be getting tailored to you, this means things like the ring gets popped on cooldown, and iskar gets pushed into add phase with the ring pop so you can spread your opening combust onto all the adds off your PC. Fire's not really a very adjustable spec, and I wouldn't really play it over arcane unless the conditions are going to be favorable.

I've been playing fire on Alpha, and it's pretty depressing not having combustion as a DOT.

Realistically, what they've done to Combustion is probably a buff in numerical terms, but I can't help but hate it. Combustion is a mechanic that I really fucking like. Changing it like that is like taking away Living Bombs, it's definitive of the spec and I love it.
