This isn't true, at least for the TR.

I dropped 550 certs on the marauder-H and was instantly racking up dozens of kills, on an otherwise stock harasser. Consistent killstreaks wherever I went.

Adding thermals and more reserve ammo later were just quality of life improvements, same as adding fire suppression and stealth ranks.

A real TR approved farmwagon requires at least 12 rounds in the gun/thermals (the extra rounds are a very noticable improvement - 14 is ideal, but a huge cert sink), maxed out comp/prox (prox for low/med pop bases, comp for high - being able to stomach 3 rockets and still keep rolling is very useful), maxed out fire-sup (extremely good for the inevitable swarm of bullets you'll take, escaping death, and repping without getting out - this isn't quality of life - this is a requirement), and at least a rank or two in racer/rival for accel/reverse to get out of dodge. Stealth is the poor mans choice, and a bad one at that. Mineguard at least prevents you being 1-2 punched by heavies with AV grenades.

The level of effectiveness increases dramatically once you've gotten the comp armor / prox radar, and the others together make you far more effective.

I mean, I drove a poverty wagon for an outfitmate, much like you the one you speak of, the other day - it is absolutely awful compared to a certed out one.

They aren't quality of life improvements, they're requirements for getting to the best farms. Being able to weave in and out and stomach extra tank rounds to get to that foot zerg is something you cannot do in a vanilla harasser.

I think the thing here is, that your idea of effective is my idea of mediocrity. Once you've gotten used to a fully certed harasser, default ones are absolute shit in comparison. A MAX on the other hand, doesn't so much require this. A couple ranks of flak, and a 650 cert secondary AI gun, and you're set.

if you play on one of the communist servers then i dont know, but the same concept applies. TR is not inherently bad, its the middle of the road as far as power goes, its not as underpowered as NC, but not as overpowered as VS. For whatever reason different servers have radically different play qualities on their different factions though. I cant figureout why this is, but it is.

They win the most alerts, across all servers. This is a statistic that is above your shitty gunvsgun comparisons or anything specific, because it summarizes the strenghts of the entire faction. You can argue specific cases all you want, but the fact remains the most alerts are won by vs, followed by tr, and then nc. This is not the case on every server, on some things are different, this is a result to different server metas and playstyles, but it all averages out across all servers, to result in the true unbiased answer.

I think you might have missed the context of the conversation, friend.

That "shitterwagon" as you put it, with just the 550 certs sunk on unlock the base marauder on an otherwise certless harasser, is plenty enough to GET LOTS OF KILLS AND BE EFFECTIVE.

I know this from experience. I ran with that for a solid month before doing any upgrading, and nowadays my TR harasser is of course completely maxed because why the fuck not?

I can now, just as I could with nothing but the weapon unlocked, hop in my solo marauder harasser, eyeball the map for the telltale signs of a sweet farm, drive up to any number of the good positions at most bases, and just spam key spots and switch positions when necessary and rack up a hundred kills and only a few or zero deaths from a single battle.

There's no "idea of effective/mediocrity" about it. Killstreaks that last for dozens of kills or more, that depend way more on map knowledge and situational awareness than any unlocks or upgrades on the vehicle itself beyond the anti-infantry weapon.

Obviously I have an even easier time of it with more upgrades, but even maxing everything did not radically change my capacity to obliterate infantry clusters all by myself.

Our playstyles may be very different, but this is my experience going it solo and I'm not even particularly skilled at the game. That's just how good the marauder is.

I think the main problem with the directive weapons is inability to customise.

I think the TRAC-shot is probably a little bit better than the Eclipse because of the higher fire rate and soft point ammo which support carbines role as close range weapons better. Unlimited ammo and never having to reload are powerful benefits though and AD's is still accurate up to about 40m so the Eclipse is quite adaptable. Not really sure what the Fortuna is like.

I wouldn't really say that the directive weapons are bad, it's just that the specialised weapons do their job a bit better. I would have preferred it if you unlocked the Aurax camo as opposed to a weapon because I have little doubt that the main reason people use directive weapons is for the sexy camo/bragging rights.

Almost 50% of kills get a reaction, I imagine that's the natural butthurt generated when you get killed by someone bright yellow, wearing glowing yellow armor and using a bright pink gun. A cheeky V1 every now and then helps too.

I don't know what's going on but my framerate is vastly improved, the max isn't any higher but i'm not having nearly so much trouble maintaining it anymore. Much smoother, very nice.

I run the game on an Intel Xeon W3680 clocked at 4ghz, which is a hexacore (12 threads) with about the same amount of IPC per clock as the FX-8350. I use a GTX 760, and my FPS is almost never below 60 unless explosions and other effects bring down my GPU.

I used to be CPU limited constantly, but the PS4 conversion did wonders. I suggested my friend get the FX-8350 and he has been nothing but satisfied with it since, understanding that it can't really handle games like Assassin's Creed : Black Flag, which is mostly single-threaded.

I'm the guy who made the AMD build suggestion.

The reason the intel shills say AMD's aren't real cores is because AMD uses what's known as CMT-based core design, wherein each PAIR of AMD cores shares an FPU (Floating Point Unit), which makes them think that the cores are inseparable. This is not the case, as the FPU is not necessary for a core to run, but it does mean that there are many calculations out there for which AMD cannot make full use of its cores.

This is also true, incidentally, for Intel's hyperthreading design, wherein two threads are run on each core of a hyperthreaded processor, sharing pipeline resource availability via some cunning pipeline stacking wizardry.

In the end, though, software developers have been learning to use hyperthreading much better than CMT-based design, so even AMD is going to be moving off CMT to SMT (hyperthreading) in the future with their new Zen architecture.

I still cannot run ultra and get 60 fps. I can't even get solid 60 fps during big battles (Like biolabs) on medium. I cannot find good settings that let me have a decent quality, and constant 60 fps.

As for your CPU, it is theoretically possible you might not have enough threads, but I seriously doubt the monstrous haswell cores couldn't make up for that.

I built a rig with that CPU about 8-9 months back and it instantly started overheating like fuck. I would boot to bios and it would just hit 90+ C and shut itself off in about a minute. couldn't make it work properly so I returned it and got an i5 instead

I will say, though, that you might be interested to look up passmark multithreading scores for the FX-8350 and most (all?) of the i5 series. As games get more and more multithreaded, the FX octocore series is going to age surprisingly well.
