It feels like there was way more variety in class items during Y1. It also didn't hurt you to use a "lower" cloak. Maybe part of that is because the VG/CR cloaks all appear to be the exact same model with color swaps.

Comitatus was the last ship I needed. I have all of the shaders and emblems. The Warlock bond is what I really want. I don't mind the grind for it, but since it does require you to wear a class item, they should have given it to you instead of assuming I had it. Unlike Y1, faction class items don't give bonus faction rep, unless it's the exotic one, which at that point, doesn't matter unless you're still missing a shaded or ship

At 3 heavy for 1 coin you can get 30 heavy for 10 coins and 300 heavy for 100 coins.
300 heavy synths would yield 7500 faction rep enough to rank up 2 and a half times.

You need 2500 rep to rank up which means you need 100 heavy synths to rank up.
And to get 100 heavy synths you would need

Everything works in pve. Autos and Handcannons work great close up, pulse/hc/autos all perform well midrange, then Scouts have the highest range. I think you just need a good purple weapon to drop that's not a Scout. Lot of weapons work well for pve. When a roll drops for you (or you find one) and you level it up to find you really like it, that's the best.

TLW is the best gun for PvE

There are just different stats for weapons for variety.

Impact is how much damage the gun deals.
Rate of Fire is how quickly you can deal that damage

Meaning lower impact pulses and autos fire really quick
but they will put out as much damage as a low rof high impact weapon.

Again, whatever you like really.
Low impact means you hit headshots.

Yeah definitely let others know if you're new to a raid, or not clear on what to do in a certain part. Successful fireteams usually have a clear leader, usually just the most talkative person, that is narrating the fight. Some parts one person needs to be saying a countdown, or calling out when they have the relic, etc.

I suck ass at pvp, like .85 k/d, and the times I'm doing well I notice I'm not sprinting blindly through the map looking for enemies but instead staying put much more. Stay with teammates, sink a bullet or two into an enemy and hide while your teammates finish them off.

And yes, you can easily complete the raid without one but it's way better for coordination if you somehow have trouble with something.
I had that once, some dude on ogre duty didn't put out the damage he had to so we switched around a bit, and i had to literally watch one guy nod or shake his head because he didn't have a mic.

A quick tip: not having a mic means you'll never get into a raid.

Destiny is an easy game for the most part, I'm sure you've figured that out by now. But Raids (when they're a high enough level to be a challenge) are one of two things that require some degree of coordination from everyone involved.

I would suggest investing in a mic if you can afford it. Not only will it make people more open to including you in activities, but you'll be able to interact with /dg/, for as little as that might mean to you I guess.

I keep seeing people talk about The Last Word. Is it that rare? I just got it from doing that first arena strike in the Reef. Or did I get an inferior version of it.

You got the Y1 version then. You can still use it in Crucible no problems, just not for IB or Trials where light matters. For those you can however get the Y2 version at the iPhone at the vanguard now that you've unlocked it.

Don't have it myself so don't rely on it. For Raids you sure want to shit out orbs with tether, but i think it's useful for strikes or other PvE stuff where you just want to get shit done fast. You can apparently oneshot the spider tank in the Taniks strike while using it, for example.
