Fuck that. I would love to have an F-22 or F-117 in DCS though but that's probably impossible because I'm sure a bunch of stuff is still top secret and simulating stealth would be very complicated.
"With Combined Arms you already have the ability to have command level control over naval units. At some point in the future however, we hope to add direct, 1st person control to these units.
We do have some big news on this front coming soon...
Our aim is to see DCS World as a true Air-Land-Sea simulation."
>Playing Italians in Combat Mission
>20 man squads, broken up into 2 9 man sections and a 2 man squad HQ
>Italian command is so shit you can't break the 9 man sections up into fireteams, meaning you have blobs of Italians deployed in buildings which could mean mass casualties from a well placed tank shot
>Their LMGs are shit and the Beretta 38 SMGs are few and far between
>13 man recon squads that can't be broken up, and are armed only with rifles
>Get a billion Brixia mortars thrown at you to use even though they're peashooters
>Lots of squad, platoon, and company commanders have -1 or -2 command bonuses
>platoon and company commanders are only armed with pistols (German and American ones on the other hand have MP40s/M1 Carbines)
Wish me luck. I have to defend with this shit against a reinforced American armored infantry battalion
Fucking adats is OP as shit now.
Mig 21 has a shitload of different weapons. It has an interesting radar that simulates what the actual radar sees without filters, like ground and clouds, and is fun to use. It has an air to ground radar guided missiles. It is very challenging to fly. There are fun things like rocket boosters and drag chute that can be deployed in flight. There is even a dynamic campaign for it. What else you want from a fucking flight sim? Autopilot and press x to kill button? For fucks sake, /fsg/.
>air quake players only care about an aircraft's capabilities. they play dcs to rack up kills
>patricians are able to appreciate and fly every aircraft. they play dcs because they love flying
That didn't work for me sadly.
The only thing that works at the moment is setting your Windows desktop resolution to 3200x1800 or what ever you prefer and then running DCS and set it to the same. It has to be the same resolution.
And 1.5 looks like shit, this is the game maxed out with 8xAA
Who gives a shit about that when you can only play it in single player against dumbfuck AI 90% of the time?
It's a shit module, fuck you, and fuck /wgg/'s retarded slavboo recommendations where a plane being shitty automatically makes it better.
>Wanting to actually play with other human beings means air quake.
Not everyone is an autistic and anti-social Slavboo that enjoys shit modules of boring aircraft with no equal opponents and no multiplayer support. Fuck off with your shit recommendations and go buy sand.
Did YOU buy sand?
You are in the wrong place, my friend.
>le ebin 'everyone in /wgg/ sucks Putin's cock' meme
>Playing alone is fun
For maybe a day. It gets pretty old having an aircraft that isn't supported in multiplayer because no server ever has AWACS or GCI, and the aircraft itself lags servers so most will leave it out or kick you for using it.
>Playing alone is fun
Well i guess when you have no friends since your such an insufferable twat.
>most servers kick you out
stop lying m8 all the ones that are populated support it.
>multiplayer because no server ever has AWACS or GCI
That's eds fault shit's broken
So I started playing ARMA3 and holy shit the graphics are neat even on my mid-range machine
The missions are very unforgiving and very frustrating at times.
Seriously though were do I go from there? Any noteworthy addons/missions I should get?
>inb4 kill yourself
>When you have no friends
>Main complaint is how shit MiG-21 is for playing with friends.
Slavshit logic at work. Fuck off with your '50 dollars because it's like driving stick!' memes.
it's not in tthe catalog, or I wouldn't have asked.
I know arma gets a lot of shit here because of its cancerous community, but please take note I'm a novice at it
I've done it, breddy ebin, now I'm supposed to play as a guerrilla in the follow up but it doesn't kick it for me
I acknowledge the sandbox has greatestest potential though, there are even full OOB and you can make addons
>I wonder if somebody ever made a large scale operations add-on
Ethiopians might be even more broken than goths in the post-imperial. Teamed up with a korean, their siege onager spam is unstoppable.
>slaughtered by onagers
>hard countered by onagers
>slaughtered by anyone who knows how to attack ground
>your own siege line
>loses because they don't have torsion engines
the only reliable way to stop it is building castles, and even then those are a trebuchet or two away from falling down, nevermind that ethiopians get bombard cannons anyway
>wow this simulator simulates flying old aircraft too realistically
>but I wanted press x to kill bvr in muh f35(
Just admit that you don't belong to flight sims, you filthy casual. Mig-21 is still in service in some countries even today. It is in an appropriate theater of war in dcs and has a suitable historical opponents to fight. If it's too hard for you go play HAWX.
People enjoy cardboard planes from RoF, and this guy finds flying nicely modeled cold war era multirole jet boring. Not to say that it is still the only fighter with clickable cockpit in dcs.
>All these implications from butthurt slavboo because someone dares to not like their boring aircraft.
>Patch note suggestions
>Everthing on this list was agreed upon by members of the group. If not, its noted in the change.
>Changes marked with !! indicate major disagreement.
>5% acc buff for t-62's
The t-62 line was already badly priced for their capabilites, now their direct competition (t-64, t-72) is getting reduced prices and they don't.
about damn time
>more nerfs to buratino
why not just remove it at this point?
>buffs to china
>only 1 card of ptz-89
why? Dealing with tanks can be a bitch as it is
>faust disagrees with nerfing jagers
>price buff for commando marines
not enough but it's a start
>sasr to 15 men squad
they will still suck because no dps for that price
>only 1 card of vickers
didn't this happen already?
>faust disagrees with longbow price nerf
just kill him
Tank prices don't change that much considering the balance issues of medium tanks
Nice ad hominem, slavcuck. You sure showed me.
It was on an ACG server so apparently they can do that now.
>you can carry around TOWs, mortars and the like
>and have them manned by the real equivalent of a weapons section
I'm liking arma more and more
is theer anybody out there that makes use of this full potential for turbo-autistic milsim groups?
>he doesn't like your shitty junker
Yeah, perfect logic. /wgg/ claims that this module simulates old shitty slav jet pretty good. He doesn't like the idea of flying old shitty slav jet, but still buys it and finds out that, what a surprise, this module only simulates old shitty slav jet. Fucking /wgg/!
I wouldn't mind it being a shitty junker if it had any kind of multiplayer appeal at all, which /wgg/ swore up and down it did. Instead it's a boring pile of shit for plinking at AI.
I wonder if you actually believe your own bullshit or if you're just fucking with me.
I don't even have the plane, the mig21 is one of my most disliked reasons, but i'm not a shitter like you, and can see that it's a well modeled plane, and there's people that enjoy it.
the dash 1 is out, no excuse for not making it but what anon says, extremely complex jet and extremely monothematic
>he doesn't block40 vs block52 in falcon4
you'll never know the joy of outskilling the AI/your m8 in a 1vs1 furball
It isn't. You're the ones that chimped out over me not liking your shitty lawn dart and needed loads of dumb excuses as to why I wouldn't like it, with ye olde 'if you don't like it, then you're an ace combat/quake babby'
New CtA update:
>Added smoke launcher to tanks (Mouse 3 button)
>Changed damage reports to show up on your own tanks only
>Increased price of GRM T3 Squad from 160 MP to 180 MP
>Increased price of GRM machine gun squad from 115 MP to 135 MP
>Increased damage of FAL from 175 to 185
>Increased damage of M249 from 75 to 80
>Increased damage of M4A1 ACOG from 175 to 185
>Increased damage of RPK from 125 to 130
>plus a bunch of stuff no one cares about
>That FAL buff
>That mercenary nerf
Not sure how to feel about that. The early MG made a big difference given US's advantage in long range combat, but a conscript start might mean a bit more diversity in early game.
>grm infantry's only advantage is being cheap
>they make them more expensive
I wouldn't say that's their only advantage, but it does seem like a strange nerf.
Anyhow, I tested out the vehicle smoke. Lasts a full minute, and only APC's and up have them. Also, they only have one wall's worth of smoke in their inventory. Seems designed more for defeating people using direct control due to how close it fires the smoke, particularly ATGM's. Not really useful in any offense capacity that I can immediatly see.
The new flashbang effect is neat, but I wish that the actual debuff lasted a bit longer. It's a little too short to really take any advantage of.
Air quake shitters fail to understand that DCS is a SIM not just a game and that most of the modules are STUDY sims, not player gibbers. Same for the shitters who complain every time a module is released that doesn't have a "balanced" opponent.
>Having a clickable cockpit makes you a study sim now.
MiG-21 fags are fucking delusional.
>having a flight model makes you a sim now
>They're charging for red flag separately
Next Wargame patch to go with the map they'll make more balance changes.
What do you guys think they'll do with it?
Delta Force Buff and British tank RPM increase are what i am betting on.
Pretty accurate within a FOV of 60, gets a bit harder up to 90 degrees, becomes difficult past that. Not very intuitive if you're trying to look over your shoulder/check your six. Also 2DOF obviously.
Teathre of War is very very VERY meh. Broken, dumbshit AI, frustating gameplay... The others are very good. AS2 is alive. MOW vietnam is shit don't get near.
How do i git gud at micro in mow? Is there a hot key to individually select soldiers of a squad?
>F-14 Tomcat 155 > 160 added to plane tab un prototyped and one per card with two cards. + (AmberT, Faust believe change is completely pointless)
Just what blue needs, more unproto fighters
Why shouldn't the side with the 2 most powerful air forces in the world have the most powerful air force?
Because blue general already has plenty of good fighters
Tornado F2, dane F16 block 15, Viggen, Mirage 2000C, which are all ridiculously cost effective.
Meanwhile, reds have what, MIG-25PD?
>prototyping plane from the 1970s
>prototyping plane that saw widespread service
ITT butthurt slavaboos refuse to concede that redfor is easymode.
>removing ground trans for Gorno's, the only thing that actually made them useful
These redditfags seriously need to fuck off. That last patch that came down the pipe was 90% USSR nerfs and it was made by these jokers.
>Gornos are only useful in ground transports
Good joke. Your shitter is showing.
Did you even read it? I see more nerfs to top tier blue units than anything.
i never played any flightsim, but today i managed to do my first landing outside of tutorial, it went better than expected, but i couldnt roll to the parkingslot, then i realized the problem...
this shit is suprisingly fun
>captcha: select all planes, well thanks
Honestly pulling off a clean landing is one of the most satisfying parts of a mission for me, it's not quite as good as splashing bandits but it's close.
The one plane I just cannot fucking land properly still is the mig-21, I know the theory and everything of how to land it properly but I always either overshoot or smash my landing gear.
You're either gifted or an average shitter that is fishing for compliments.
>Honestly pulling off a clean landing is one of the most satisfying parts of a mission for me
As someone who flies almost exclusively the Bf109 I share that sentiment.
>Implying trans have the balls to join in on a war.
>tfw a pole thinks their mig-29s are "state of the art"
No just keep doing, also ILS helps but it's kinda broken right now i think.
Russian aircraft also have an landing autopilot which can help you a lot, but i am not sure on which planes it works and on which ED has broken it.
ILS works fine.
Make sure you are aware of the runway heading you wish to land on, fly a pattern around the airfield at 1500-2000 feet like pic related and run mock approaches and or touch and goes, also check approach, gear and flap down speeds for your particular aircraft.
Yeah their purpose is to either do nothing if you apply too little or throw you into a roll if you apply too much, there is no in-between. Also for trying to land the plane when your ailerons have been shot off (that was a fun landing, I should've screenshotted it).
isnt the heading on the ADI/HSI/ILS the same one as the waypoint painted on the HUD with the green circle? cause i set it to 'return to base' but it seemed to be off somewhat (or i just simply fucked it up somehow)
Forgot this as well, know your stall speed, and when on final approach if you want to raise the nose then increase throttle and if you want to increase speed dip the nose down, try to fight the urge to pull back on the stick to raise the nose.
I assume you are talking about the su25t?
Its ILS is somewhat simplified, but "Return mode" directs to a final approach point x kms away from the runway once reaching that point it auto switches to "landing mode" you can however manually switch to landing mode and be guided in with the symbology on the HUD and HSI respectively, I recommend you read the manual.
correct me if im wrong, HSI:
the double line (desired couse) show the direction from the last waypoint to the next one
the yellow (bearing) shows the waypoint direction from my current position
if i follow the flight director it will put me back on the desired course tangentially
if i switch to landing mode, the yellow shows the selected airfield alright, no problem, but what happens with the double white one, since there isnt any last waypoint to give direction towards the airfield?
Yes you are correct.
When it comes to landing yes the yellow bearing indicator points to the airfield while the double white lines show the desired approach vector to that airfield or the runway heading if you like.
Lets say you are flying perpendicular towards the runway, the yellow indicator is going to be pointing at the airfield from your position while the desired course indicator will be perpendicular to your direction of travel just like the runway is.
>ED can never get a launch of any product right
I wonder if they will ever be able to get their shit together and stop rushing things out and actually test it
