What's the point? The idea is supposed to be that you work hard for something and you get a feeling of accomplishment from achieving your goal. If you just cheese it, you lose out on that feeling because you cheapened it.

Hearthstone is much more about the destination than the journey, the fun part is winning and taking an hour to win is counterproductive. Im a chem masters student and I dont think this way. Thinking through a control game and trying to get as much value as possible out of all of my cards is far more fun than say secret paladin where you can play on autopilot and only make predetermined value trades. If you enjoy just the winning factor playing a deck that has been botted to legend you are much better off just watching TV

To respond in order, though,

It's not meaningless. The accomplishment is to literally win 500 times in ranked. I don't play any of these classes because I really don't care about them. I like Mage, Hunter and I have some 'eh' feelings about a few others, but I don't really like the others (especially Druid which I found out while playing that it's the most boring class of all time.) Winning 500 games isn't a struggle. Winning 500 games doesn't teach me anything. It just marks your commitment to playing the class in ranked enough to win 500 times.

I can't grind studies since I've already graduated, so I'm not sure if you're trying to project what you're doing or should be doing onto others, but that's not an option nor would I if it was because fuck studying. Playing games is fun, and I enjoy playing games the way I enjoy it. It just so happens I enjoy grinding. That's the way I enjoy playing games and it's my way to stay invested. Maybe I destroyed that feeling for you, but I did not for me.

TL;DR, just because it's not fun for you doesn't mean it's not fun for anyone else. The same applies for other feelings.

not really, its been done with a lot of decks. ive personally seen proof of: pre nax face warrior, pre aggro shaman, face hunter during several seasons, and secret paladin during TGT, im sure there are more but these are the only ones that I know for a fact. I said I didn't fucking want to deal with a fatiguing knock-down drag-out control vs. control matchup where I have to play around every piece of removal, use my removal as much as possible, consider life totals and fatigue damage, and remember what each piece of my removal I've drawn needs to hit in order to come out on top in the end.

Can I do it? Sure. I've done it plenty of times before, especially when getting to legend and every match past 5 counts. I just prefer not to do it because it's mentally fatiguing. Especially after dealing with the stresses of daily, normal life.

Hearthstone isn't really comparable in that it one sequential game, but you can definitely make long term assumptions on your opponents hand based on the meta.

Like if you are playing against a control warrior, how do you know what to play around? Do they use slams? Acolytes? Do they even use taskmasters or whirlwind? Are they doing a weird monkey reno thing? Dragons? Deathlords? Do they have crush? Are they actually a patron build that's slowrolling? There's a bunch of different builds for warrior that can look very similar. Again, it's not even like a normal playing card game where you know there are 4 aces, 4 kings, etc...

I tried a reno mage deck, was quite fun, but found it a bit inconsistant early game vs aggro when you didn't draw into early game minions or never got Reno/healbot. Would also often happen that you got it, but you'd still die next turn because the enemy board was just too much to deal with.

Though I'd guess it's mostly a L2P issue on my end along with lacking couple key cards like echo of medivh and ice block.

Tempostorm's cookie cutter deck is shit. I hit legend on the 10th playing a reno version of CW.

The only games I lost at all were when I didn't draw reno, and I didn't lose every time that happened either.

People think CW is weak because they're still trying to play that super slow deck from tgt. Reno keeps the deck viable and actually opens up more options for warriors in deck building. You can be a little more reckless which makes the deck more intuitive and allows for even more variance in decision making then there already was.

The only deck I had to actually sit down and plan out mulligans and removal usage for was secret paladin. Everything else I just Mulligan'd a low curve and played on the fly.

How is Loatheb not a "broken" card?

the base stats for a 5-drop are 5/6 in vanilla stats, IE Pit Fighter.

That would mean that from a balance standpoint they're considering "Make opponents spells cost 5 more on the following turn" is only worth 1 stat point, which is preposterous

In addition, it's in the 5-drop slot, which is probably the single most important slot in the game, since it's useful in the early-mid game nd late game, since dropping 2 5-drops is a thing

Well its a legendary so stats are gonna be well above the norm just because of that.
Its really strong, but you can often play around it unless you get unlucky with a full hand of spells and nothing else.

I personally like it since makes it possible to play around stuff like Force of Nature/Savage Roar and other spell based combos.

5 drops are in generally pretty weak compared to 4 and 6 drops so Loatheb just sticks out a lot more.
