Why is it so hard to come up with an alias that isn't super autistic? I wanna use forge modding as a creative outlet and a way to practice programming, but I'd need to buy a premium account for that to "go public" and I have no idea what the fuck I want my "gamer tag" to be
you have to be a raging asshole to be active in the modding community, so no
if you aren't, don't worry, the ceaseless hordes of crying babies who can't even edit configs will fix that up quick
>but I'd need to buy a premium account for that to "go public"
No you dont, what you need is a github repository and download links and a place to have the links available. Get a github account, choose a fiesharing program, and update it periodically so that it can stay relevant and stay in the /mcg/ OP post.
There's a million things you can worry about as a Minecraft mod dev, but appearing autistic is not one of them.
Hell, when there are actual furries, trannies and tumblrshit around, you have to try pretty fucking hard to stand out.

I'd disagree about Flans. The only real blocks it adds are weapon boxes, basically shapeless crafting tables that give you guns if you have the right amount of materials. The vehicle content packs add engines and chairs and other fiddly bits to make vehicles (yay microcrafting), but even that's done with a vehicle crafting table. The official WW2 pack adds stationary machine guns you can place, but that's about it.
It's a combat mod, not a construction mod.
Did Flan ever fix the vehicles controlling like hot ass? I only ever saw Etho drive them in the old Mindcrack FTB series and it looked like they were all but impossible to control decently.
Good things are coming.
I need ideas to take up all this extra space.
These guys who took over Growthcraft are alright.
lolnope. Ground vehicles and helicopters are shit, but fixed-wing planes are at least somewhat possible if you practice. Start off with the wooden biplane in the Ye Olde content pack before you start bombing villages.
Could get a Growthcraft vineyard and/or brewery going in all that verdant courtyard space you've got. You've also got Growthcraft Bees which may or may not warrant a little apiary somewhere for all your mead needs.
Also, a metal smeltery with an automated furnace setup with hoppers to smelt large quantities of metal.
And a sort of Nexus with portals to the Nether and Twilight might be cool, too. Runic Dungeons features portals you have to build too, right? You could put those there as well.
An IE aero-/hydro-electric power plant would look nice and also prove quite helpful to you.
Make a big maid hotel to hold all your non-CustomNPC companions.
And if all else fails, a storage warehouse is never a bad thing to fill space with.
Thats a good idea, I like it.
>Also, a metal smeltery with an automated furnace setup with hoppers to smelt large quantities of metal.
I had an idea for a later build using IE excavator dumping to a crusher which gets transported to a TC smeltery furnace thing to get magic involved.
>And a sort of Nexus with portals to the Nether and Twilight might be cool, too. Runic Dungeons features portals you have to build too, right? You could put those there as well.
I could put portals on the large circular platform I suppose since its not being used for anything yet. Runic dungeons are ass to setup though.
>An IE aero-/hydro-electric power plant would look nice and also prove quite helpful to you.
I could whittle away some mountain and fake a stream to get hydro going, aero is more of a hassle and not worth the time spent setting it up.
>Make a big maid hotel to hold all your non-CustomNPC companions.
Theres 16 of them into those little apartments, i've got a maid rec area planned for inside the main building though.
>And if all else fails, a storage warehouse is never a bad thing to fill space with.
I've still got spare rooms built and unused. I had a few of them planned for things like witchery, but I just cant get into witchery.
I like you anon, you've got good ideas.
>IE excavator dumping to a crusher which gets transported to a TC smeltery furnace thing to get magic involved.
Careful. The output of some veins (esp Magnetite) will alloy with themselves and give you extra bronze and shit.
Has everyone here seen this video yet?

It's pretty cool.
>first growthcraft brew is finally ready to be drunk

>no side effects
>bottle's still there, and there's still brew in it
>drink it again
>restore more hunger
>bottle still full, still no side effects
>go into test world and test out the others
>none of them work
What the fuck is happening and more importantly how do I fix this? dudealcohollmao potion side effects were one of the biggest reasons I installed this over pam's microcraft.
The community one, 2.4 update.
>notice I couldn't place or pick up liquids either or eat cake in test world either
>delete test world and make another one
>suddenly everything works
I'm confused and spooked as hell. I guess something broke last time I was in the test world?
WAILA. You can toggle between hearts and numbers. It automatically turns into numbers if the mob has too much HP anyway, but even then some mobs manage to stretch the fuck out of the window and block your view, so you really don't want hearts.
The dev mentioned in the forums they'd do their best to remain faithful. The 2.4 update even splits the mod in modules like the original dev did so you can ditch stuff you don't want.
The only differences I've noticed were a couple of new additions: the new hive recolors in >>128594123, yeast (no idea what that does yet), a culture jar (ditto) and a more convenient liquid container so you don't have to juggle empty and filled bottles.
I have never felt so inadequate before watching this video. Truly, these are the most primitive of feels.
Does anyone know of a portable horse system that works?
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, do you want to just be able to carry a horse in your inventory and bring it out when it's needed, then pocket it again when it's done its job?
Thaumic Horizons would be my choice, in that case.
Not only can you store horses (and literally any other mob) inside jars and unleash them at your convenience, you can turn them into ender horses who can teleport and hellhorses who don't give a shit about lava. You probably want to give them a reusuable jarring infusion so you don't have to keep spending jars though.
If tech's more your cup of tea, there's always MFR pokeballs, although that involves installing MFR.
Pretty sure Golden Lassos from Extra Utilities work on horses too.
If anyone has experience with immersive engineering, I'm trying to troubleshoot these watermills. I had them set up and running but moved my base, now I can't get them to produce power anymore.
The wheels are moving as they should so they aren't obstructed. But I just can't get any power from the dynamo. Bashed it with the hammer to rotate it all 4 possible ways, no output. Tried wire connectors from all available faces, nothing. Tried with fluxducts, nothing. Even putting an energy cell/capacitor right next to it does nothing no matter which side I use.
I'm at a loss as to why it isn't creating any power. When I first had them set up, I used a wire connector on the top of the dynamo, but that doesn't work anymore. I'm probably missing something obvious here.
You are right, the square right side needs to be touching the water wheels. The top can't be changed though, it seems to always be an output.
Anyway, it kinda works now. I set the square ring side properly and it did nothing. Left and did something else for a minute, went back to it producing power. I have no idea why there was such a delay, but at least its back up and running. Thanks m8.
that game was awesome, ww1ish atmosphere and fun as hell.
I think this will work for a crazy pollution Magitech tower. Complete with output drains of nasty water.
Question: Did you put the kinetic generator down and then the wheels, or the wheels and then the generator?
If you did Wheels->Generator, redo it the other way around. Placing the wheels on the generator will cause the generator to "see" them, whereas if you put it on the wheels it doesn't know what it's looking for. IE is weird like that.
EnderIO's Soul Vials should work too, and they're a little cheaper than MFR's pokeballs. I think it's also cheaper than the lasso as well.
Maids for cutes.
Roguelike Dungeons for quick early game access to exp, base materaisl like iron, and spawners.
Grimoire of Gaia for a genuine fear of possible death while playing.
Metallurgy 4 for extramaterial options for armor and weapons.
Witching gadgets addon for tc4 for the abacus to tell you how stable your altar is.
COFH Core for quick and easy mob and dropped item removal (/cofh killall <item/mob name>
Alright so what Im playing is Hardcore with hard recipes, I have Sync and HQM, I wrote a bunch of quests for it and added some of the mats needed for the clones.
So far I've lost count how many times I've died and lost my world before I even made it to the 2nd day.
I had infernal mobs but I have to take it out because it was just way too much, mobs were way unbalanced. Also had to lower the spawn rate of Octoroks and a more than halve the spawn of the GoG mobs.
Still getting my ass handed to me D:
Its ruff to say the least.
All that being said, any thing you guys think I might be missing that would fit the sort of theme? anything that doenst look like it would go too well?

I use CombatFrogs on any site it's available. I use FightingAmphibians if it's not.
Tested to be compatible with Foundry for 1.8.9 btw. Modelled the copper/tin/lead/nickel/silver textures off its' because it seems to be "the" ore-gen mod for the time being.
too bad I went with this and looks sexy
I gripe about that because
FightingAmphibians and CombatFrogs are ancient as fuck TF2 server groups that I used to frequent and turned into "We're better than 4chan" circlejerks.
When is microcrafting okay?
When the end result is extremely good?
When the microcrafted items are used in multiple different things?
When do you personally think microcrafting is an okay thing?
>making a suit of shadowmetal fortress armor
324 ignis/metallum/alienis JUST to make the metal for the armor (9 blocks of metal), not to mention the other shit and essentia needed
Void fortress armor is already great shit, I can't imagine how giganigga this armor will be
Excessive microcrafting is not okay. A creative mod developer can figure out a way to keep a cost high without being tedious as fuck.
Even though thaumcraft is tedious at times, it has a good idea. If you want to make the powerful stuff, you not only need a set of items, you also have to have some source of disposable items to power the crafting. With proper control of how this works, for instance, you can make an item with a low material cost, but still gate it behind a certain type of resource.
You could even go as simple as to make a machine that says "give me 64 diamonds, 64 redstone blocks, 100 ender pearls, 30 blocks of iron for your item"
Items that are only used for crafting can be okay if they are use plentifully and the tree of items doesn't go down too deep. No Dimatrix Recombiners that turn into Auxilatratic Ion Arrays that become Oxidatic Boost Capacitors that become Tritenic EndgameFuckium. Basic resources to crafting component to goal item is ideal.
>Basic resources to crafting component to goal item is ideal.
Agreed. This is the best course of action if you want to complicate production or increase material costs. Common parts used in different combinations for most of the mod's machines; for instance, machine frames, motors, batteries and what have you. The absolute worst thing is a microcrafting ingredient (or, god forbid, crop/mob drop/dungeon loot) that's only used for one or two recipes so that it's pointless to stock up on the part and you just have to bite the bullet and make a new one every time you want one of the machine that uses it.
The Tique was always a fun place away from the dramatics. A shame it closed up, though nothing lasts forever.
I don't mind a tree of items that goes a little deep if there's multiple paths to the end goal. Like Enderium. You can:
>Take a Shiny, Silver, and Two tin dusts and combine them with a bucket of liquid enderpearl, then forge the powder with Pyrotheum.
>Meld a bar of Shiny, Silver, and two bars of Tin together to make a base alloy, of which gets further infused with Enderpearls and Pyrotheum.
>Melt Shiny, Silver, Two bars of tin, and 4 Enderpearls in a Lava-fueled multiblock forge and cast the ingots or parts you need for tools and items.
Same end result, same general materials, just multiple paths to it.
>and 4 Enderpearls in a Lava-fueled multiblock forge
Huh. Was this added to TiCon recently? I remember not being able to melt enderpearls in a smeltery, but in Regrowth's version of TiCon, I can.
Yeah, I knew you could do the alloys in a smeltery, but melting the redstone/glowstone/enderpearls down wasn't always possible. I think redstone and glowstone still need a pyrotheum-fueled smeltery to melt them into fluids.
Which is just silly, why waste Pyrotheum when it's far easier to just magma crucible it and then just input the liquid into the Smeltery? That's what I did to get the Signalum I used.
I did that once I finally got enough materials for the darn thing. Evolved made that far more of a pain then it needed to be since Machine Chassis require freaking Machine Frames. That's not even getting into the fact that the capacitors require Lapis electron tubes.
I like the mod interaction, I think it's something that's been needed for quite a while to make all the mods feel like a more cohesive whole rather then just a bunch of things competing for your attention. But I hate the absolute grind.
Yeah, I know. I was just getting to that point a while ago, but then I was building a new computer and the thing updated and I have yet to get into it again. The crafting grind isn't THAT bad, it's just the very early game is kind of tedious and I'm not sure I want to experience that again.
They don't have a duration, hit them to get rid of them.
I don't think they do. The game calculates light the same way as a torch from them and their texture shouldn't cause anymore issues then a torch would. You would get more lag from a Thaumcraft Magic Lamp really.
It's been in the most recent versions for at least a year. If anything you're seeing modtweaker scripts to disable them since TiCon is such a cheap mod.
>complains about how it's constantly giving an easier, cheaper and/or more powerful option even if it's nonsensical in terms of progression
It's like you're completely unaware of shit like Alumite instant-endgame sequence breaking.
What are you talking about? I'm not even complaining. I know how to exploit TiCon, it's no energy requirements for alloys is why I still use the darn thing at all.
If anything, I'm saying the opposite of what you are suggesting. That TiCon threw up a roadblock for something should be simple.
That's also only for the dust, if you craft it into blocks, then you can still melt it down regardless, so why bother having it require pyrotheum? I can understand it for the Ender Pearls, since it's suppose to try to have an equivalent cost for Enderium as everything else.
Just seems like they overlooked it when it came to their so called meticulous "balance"
Is it terrible that I usually have a Fortune 3 Moss Alumite pick that I use, even in endgame? Because pic related when I use upgraded Cobalt, or any of the "Fast" metals.
Naw, I usually keep a slower pick as well, mostly a silk touch one since it slows it down a bit to be manageable.
My 'fast' stuff is either a Terra Shatter, or an Enderium Hammer. Though I would rather have the Terra Shatter since it can be enchanted. Shame it takes so long to get to it in Evolved.
>tfw toggleable speed
based, sadly unenchantable though., but it's great for basework
My ST is usually my fast pick, as I usually favor Fortune over Silk in my mining tools. And I usually go with Steel for a hammer, though since I am running Metallurgy in this pack I'll see what all my options are for an RF-based hammer. Who knows, I might actually get a third tier capacitor on one this time.
>Not a Vajra
Though I don't have IC2 nor Gravisuite in this pack. I am testing out a lot of other really interesting things, and one seems like it should belong in every pack ever; Practical Logistics.
>want to make a growthcraft rice farm
>it's by far the hardest farm to maintain since it needs to be destroyed to be harvested instead of right-clicked and the block in grew on must be re-watered after harvesting as opposed to the others' "set up and forget, rightclick to harvest"
>have to make an ugly-ass floodgate system next to the farm that harvests everything at once while also watering the paddies
Have you seen pic related yet? I wound up learning more about TC essentia tubes from messing around and experimenting with the build in a test world than any other guide so far.
I wish the Thaumonomicon did a better job at explaining the suction system, though.
>grass is spreading underwater
>this fucks up BetterFoliage and removes its shallow-water decorations
I don't suppose any of you would know any mods that include the underwater grass-spreading feature? PlantMegaPack is my prime suspect, I'm currently restarting the game without it to confirm.
Hah! That fading node I posted a few days ago was stabilized and is now a pale node!
Too bad it's so shitty. Maybe I'll energize it just to power that furnace.
>community Growthcraft update adds TC aspects to items
>honeycombs have greed
>can become an apiarist that turns figurative liquid gold into literal solid gold
This excites me more than it should.
>obligatory useless waste as a side product in the form of limus
>Ignis, metallum, and alienis being hard to get
Nigger, just get a knight grinder for that shit, Their armour is both metal and alienis
if you have the alchemical boiler, boil lava for ignis and terra out the ass
Charcoal. Centrifuge potentia for even more ignis if you need it that bad.
seriously nigger? 9 nuggets contain more metallum than a single ingot has, you can make infinite iron with this.
This is the only one that causes any trouble if you don't have easymode ExU ender lilies or don't want to make a knight farm. Your best bet is to beat the shit out of endermen in the end.
Literally look ONE POST ABOVE YOU
I already made the shit, it's not hard to get the essentia at all, I was just commenting on the amount needed pre-infusion is surprising, nothing else i've made required such a large quantity of essentia before the infusion itself
okay so i've posted here 2 other times, and i havent found the help i need, so maybe this time I will. Whenever I try launching hexxit i get a failed to write minidumps error. People here just tell me that im not admin of my own computer, but I am, so what do I do?
you've already mastered the Canadian tradition of apologizing. now all you need is a moose hat and your maple syrup and you practically live here.
I will goddamn get to a point where I can do that and it'll be fucking great.
meanwhile, waiting for these niggers to grow.
When my logistics pipe network does it for me
When my AE2 system does it for me
I am above the peon work that is manually crafting
Practical Logistics. Lets you basically monitor everything in the game; How much fluid is in a tank, how long you have on a furnace, etc.
My only main gripe so far with it is that it requires sapphires for everything. Granted, the ore is plentiful, but you only get ONE without Fortune. But considering that I could use this to monitor a base at a glance...
Lemme load up my instance and see, but it does use oredictionary with BoP Sapphires and (I'd also assume) ProjectRed Sapphires.
Do bear in mind this is a fairly new mod (Posted to curse January 8th) and I'm sure it'll have more to come. But as an infographic mod, and a pretty comprehensive one at that (Cross-dimensional information, Automatically enabling/disabling redstone signals based on data, etc.) it might be worth considering as a lazy variant of Computercraft.
Anyway update on the world of Industerra (yeah I know, not a very creative name).
This is pretty much the surface now, since I'm building underground, because fuck those mobs that break/blow up torches.
I put my farm underground because mobs kept trampling/blowing up my crops. I have a pretty huge variety of stuff, so food isn't a problem anymore.
I'm showing yet another tech based modpack known as Survival Industry. It's completely tech based, with absolutely no magic involved.
But it also has things to make things harder, like several recipe changes (like requiring bedrock to make more OP machines like AE2's inscriber or anything Gendustry related), limited stacks, hunger overhaul+spice of life, zombie awareness, special mobs+specialAI, and harder wildlife. Oh and all the sounds/music/ambiance are all different.
There's also many other things, like you can't just simply get leather, you actually have to tan rawhides you get from cows/pigs to get leather. Speaking of, passive mobs such as pigs/cows/chickens/etc and trees automatically repopulate and will age until they die off. Also they will fight back if you attack them.
And this pack has a "Fatigue" meter, where you have to sleep or you'll suffer, and sleeping is different too. You don't just sleep and it immediately skips to morning, time actually passes by quickly instead, so if you try sleeping in the middle of nowhere on the surface, chances are you'll get jumped on by every mob.
For whatever reason, these boots make zombies jump super high.
Neat. Don't need to craft an item to scan it.
Mesisng aorund in the forums I found this https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxVifClGzDWmN05FX3lJVHZkSzQ/view
seems like a working fix for the newest version of GWC and the latest Forge versions... will try it out and report back
Doesn't look like the mobs attempt to break these.
Working, it didnt freak the shit out when I access the barrel interface
haaaaa wow that is not the picture I clicked on
Looks like it still doesn't stop the creepers from blowing them up.
Unfortunately, the game didn't like me teleporting inside one of those Candelabra blocks, and now it refuses to load for me. So it looks like I'm done here.
Do I recommend this modpack? NOPE LOL
Question. Why immibis microblocks are darker with optifine? There's a fix? Even without shader
I'm trying to make a loophole and it looks like shit.
Here's the world map, by the way.
Its a pain in the ass at the beginning, and its unbalanced af. The top-tier crossbow, which is not that hard to make, can shoot every .25 seconds, and does about 8 hearts of damage, possibly more with upgrades. IMO its not really worth it.
external without shaders, only optifine ultra
its alright. the Smeltery is nice, it would probably fit in with a dorf-themed world.
tool construction is nice, of course there's a way to minmax everything but that only matters to minmaxers and whiners.
it has a couple addons, but I'd always recommend Steelworks. Adds a copycat of the Smeltery in the High Oven that makes steel. Its simple as fuck to make, and adds nothing to worldgen so its pretty much perfect. also adds the deep tank, which is for storing molten metals and it won't alloy anything together.
There's others like Iguana's Tweaks which pretty much overhauls most of the mechanics and makes it pretty grindy. ExtraTiC just adds overpowered shit, though if you WANT a crossbow that can one-shot everything go for it.
replies like >>128685130 are idiots that assume that TiCon comes with iggy's grind and extraTiC and other bullocks. it is, on its own, a nice mod to have.
WANT a crossbow that can one-shot everything go for it
Even without ExtraTiC, crossbows are still OP as shit. Throw some quartz on the bolts and even an iron crossbow can one shot a player. Saw someone make one that could one shot a vanilla iron golem.
Sure it didn't fire fast, but that's not what the crossbow was made for anyway.
I keep trying to run BoP, but I get "Forge minimum version required is 10.13.4.1566"
What the hell? The version of BoP is 1.7.10, and as far as I know I'm using the latest version of Forge.
i havent touched the game in about an year. last time i played it, was with some ftb modpack which was like survival but had some additional shit like buildcraft
can you guys recommend me a vanilla+ modpack that doesn't have over 100 magic mods or some other shit like that
>set AE2 meteor spawn rate to a really high number
>meteors spawn everywhere
>set AE2 meteor spawn rate to a really low number
>meteors spawn everywhere
Alright, an addendum to my issue: I'm running the installer with Java, and it's clearly booting up, but it doesn't say "successfully installed forge". It just opens a command window and closes. Should I try to reestablish Java with .jar files? I don't really know what that would do, since I'm already running it with Java.
its an anarchy server, and anyone who gets banned and wants unbanned has to eat pickles and recite pickle haikus. its been a highlight for me since that was required to have ban lift consideration. personally only been banned for my username in my MC career.
It is actually a good idea to have when you need to know how much hp something has and when you have WAWLA to remind you which obscure block needs which obscure tool.
Just make it smaller or move it elsewhere in the screen.
New serb soon?
it is time to remind the elves about magma
Infinity will probably be the best starter. Start it like normal: punch trees, mine iron and coal, set up shelter. If you ever get confused what something is used for, hit U while hovering over it. Search something in NEI and hit R to see its recipes.
>tfw you realize halfway through construction you might be planting more crops than you'll ever need
Unrelated, why are ropes such a fucking pain in the ass to place?
That's the worst idea for a beginner ever, even if they disabled the IC2 voltage makes machines explode setting. There are so many ways that you can fuck yourself over if you don't have a grasp of mods. So many things that arn't explained in game, or are VERY poorly explained in the wiki.
Infinity is fine to just get use to the mods themselves.
I should have checked NEI first, I was worried I'd be producing more alcohol than my character could handle but as it turns out, I can turn hops into biomass.
Nothing says industrial progression like a drunk engineer powering his machines with the same crops used to power his alcoholism.
In 1.8.9? Who would have thought!
I've got a question that I hope at least some of you will know how to answer.
I used to play minecraft a lot back from beta 1.4, and onto the official release, and I used to mainly play on Faction anarchy/survival servers. Back in the day, they were fucking awesome.
The server I played on 90% of the time had an economy system, without a server shop, so the price of say, a diamond, was completely fluid and based on player economy. Factions cost quite a bit of money to create, and claiming land also cost money, so it was best to have a tight group working together for the good of the faction.
Because of this, there was a very dynamic political environment, with lots of war, treaty, and betrayal between the top few factions. You really got sucked into the server.
Now, the problem, is that I really want to enjoy that kind of experience again, but I'm having a really difficult time finding another such server.
It seems like every server I find with Factions or anarchy in the description has different worlds for minigames, creative, factions, kitPVP, and all of this other stuff. The economy is based on server-run shops, you can vote for the server and get ridiculous perks, you can just type /kit and get armor and shit with absurd enchantments, etc. It just seems really anti-fun and not a challenge to play anymore. I don't even know if people no-life these servers in 12 hours skype calls trying to locate and figure out how to grief another faction's base anymore.
But I have hope that there are servers like this out there, and I'd really like to know where they are, or what to search for if I want this experience.
If an anon started a server like this, how many of you would be interested in playing?
I've looked at Civ Craft, but I think what I'm wanting is much more vanilla, not anything too game changing.
I've spent a lot of time looking through server lists, and currently I'm going down semi-vanilla servers, but I'm still not really having any luck.
>no /kits (except for maybe a small wooden tool kit upon first joining the server)
>no OP perks for voting or donating
>economy plugin (small amount of money given for killing monsters/players
>no server-run shops
>free market, essentially
>factions cost a hefty amount of money
>factions can claim land, also for a cost
>map limit (we used to play mostly with a 20k or so map limit, keeps factions closer, makes it harder to stay safe, but still far enough apart that you can stay hidden if you want to)
>at most, some mcMMO skills
And that's really all I'm looking for.
Checking out the forum post and subreddit, this very well might be what I'm looking for.
Thank you very much, anon.
2b2t is pretty much the default anarchy server, it's achieved enough popularity that it's a meme.
Also you're probably going to be fucked in the ass several million times before you really get a foothold on the server.
>Also you're probably going to be fucked in the ass several million times before you really get a foothold on the server.
I'd expect no less.
I don't like being coddled on a server.
Is witchery a mod worth learning if I only play by myself?
because a quick look at its wiki it seems as if it was designed with multiplayer in mind since quite a few of its shit seems to be near useless or just plain unachievable if you are playing singleplayer
there's "not being coddled" and there's "having to attempt to walk 1000+ blocks in any given direction through a blasted, lava strewn wasteland to find any food or wood or anything else of immediate value".
Yeah, playing on 2b2t a little bit and I get what you're saying.
The server type I was used to had a /tpa system, and /sethome, and a main spawn building thing, with a safezone stretching a decent distance from spawn.
It's strange not being able to find another server like this, because it seems like such a simple concept. But yet, nearly every server I see has "OP kitPVP, Prison, OPFactions, minigames, skyblock, kitPVP" and they're just not at all comfortable to play on. And they all seem to be practical carbon-copies of one another.
It honestly really confusing to me why I can't find what I'm looking for.
i starved twice and died like three times before growing a single piece of wheat
i finally found a tree so i could make a workbench and someone in full diamond armor riding an armored horse killed me with a diamond sword
it has shitty microcrafting, but the mod still has interesting mechanics. as for tools and things it does, well, of course there are others that do it better and easier.
but it wouldn't be fun if it was easy
personally im past IC2 now, personally im only commenting because im drunk and i hate to see this general go to page 10. I can live without the quantum armor and induction smelter. the gregification of it fucked me off too.
>before vanilla hoppers
gonna post some old randoms....
So fucking good, Perhaps one of the best damn things about Biomes o' plenty, that sort of terrain gen is the best.
Normally the crag Biome is my game end goal, when I've got enough research and mod stuff the crag Is the place to build my Final house. I tend to build into the mountain with shit jutting out every so often on account of my inability to design shit well. Can't beat a mountain fortress in terms of minecraft Architecture I feel.
Because the wider and younger the audience the more shekels you can rake in from retarded children. And retarded children don't want shit-on-your-face servers, they want easy bullshit.
its good when you get started, but when you realise not many ores generate that high (check the natura clouds) and if you aint prepared properly to transport items to and throw, then its a hassle. after that, i always pick a plains biome by a river. just trying RWG for the first time now and its so much better.
>babbys first mfr mob spawner
About to rebuild my wither grinder in single-player. I got the spawning down pat, but I'm looking for other options for doing the killing. The last time I used a dozen tesla coils, which did the job, but took 4k rf/t and you couldn't get close to it without slowing it down. What do you guys use to do the killing?
as stated before I cannot build them well, and my last computer had what meager buildings I had in the last crag, never transferred them over.
Fair enough I guess, the transfer is always a hassle, but I figure that its a good place to go anyway when you're getting close to things being good and done. I figure I can just build a bunch of Jabba dollys, transfer things over and be good and fine by the mid-tech level of my mods. Tend to use magic stuff over industry, So i'm thinking of turning the biome type to magic forest with witchery when I get there, turn the crag to grass and basically set up my energized node there if I'm patient enough to not build it already. Admittedly I already have a cozy sort of situation where I am now, pic related, but something about being that high up and living inside the mountain with the occasional outcropping structure is awesome to me.
What bothers me is that you're the kind of person that would tear the lid off of peanut butter and claim that your good reason for doing so is that you have twenty-two years of peanut butter experience
There was no negative factor that i can think of which would have caused you to go through the effort of manually disabling the file extensions, which means you did it for no fucking reason.
they take up space and it's cleaner without the file extensions? I don't know, I have my file extensions, but that's the only reason I could see to get rid of them.
It's a terrain gen mod, pretty great.
So what are the benefits of growthcraft for someone who uses pam's harvestfat?
I wanted to look it up but MCF is broken and i'll be fucked if i try and fix that shit, so i can't read the synopsis.
>shit stain at night
cant wait to try out that chisel & bits, is it available yet /mcg/?
So can someone explain how the fuck customNPCs work? I've watched some videos, but I haven't the slightest idea for how to set up a group of custom NPCs to help me out in survival, is it even possible or would I have to have creative mode open to me at some point.
Basically what I want is:
>one "companion" that uses magic to fight (preferably ars magica spells and the like, though if I have to use the system put in place by Custom NPCs that'll be fine I guess)
>someone at home who can organize loot
>both of them have dialogue
>someone to play with because holy shit I'm lonely when I start considering setting up fake people
If you cant figure it out you have terminal retardation, I figured out what I wanted to do within 5 minutes of playing around with it.
Companion is broken and stupid, use gaurd/follower and hire them.
Nothing can organize anything, but you can have an npc act as a portable series of chests.
Dialogue is up to you.
What's worse, is that it seems the older players from alpha and beta have moved on since.
I did for a while, and am just coming back to the game trying to find a good community, but everything is shit.
Is it even possible anymore with the minecraft fanbase?
I imagine it'd be pretty hard to find dedicated players like that again.
next 2 floors under that
always have a openblocks elevator on the roof so you can go from basement lvl-5 to rooftop in 6 space taps and FLY AWAY, instead of going out through the front door like a scrub.
fair enough, guess I'll just have to fiddle with it.
>mfw I'll know everything an NPC could say to me >mfw so fucking alone >mfw I'll probably never find a server I want to play on that isn't full of shitheads now that blighfall is kill
you found them here, we play modded servers though, so you'll have to get accustomed to that
im 32 next month and all my friends are pretty much normies, they have children that introduced their parents to minecraft. So in my community its looked upon as a childs game, which is fair enough, the kids love it, on the xbox, its amazing for them. it was amazing for me in InDev before doors were introduced.. the thing is, none of my friend have a creative mind, none of them are good at drawing, making music or baking cakes, thats the stuff i enjoy and thats the reason i still play minecraft. it feeds my creative side, while i have fuck all to show for it at the end of a 7 hour session on a new map to them or my non existing parent, im happy.
Stand for what you believe in, even if you stand alone.
If it helps, here is my mod list. Google is not helping at all, its just returning a bunch of autists who can't be bothered to re-install.
Man, that feels bad. The fact that all your friends don't really have any sort of imagination is a bit boring. Why do most normies just shut off any creativity they have? Is it just the general acceptance of work, or what?
It's just really depressing to see people in that state, or even just society turning people into dulled-down versions of themselves.
I can respect modded servers, but they're honestly just not really my cup of tea.
I guess I'm just stuck in the past with it.
But I just want nothing more right now than to play on another server like that.
Staying up all night in teamspeak with my faction working on our base and stocking up on armor and ores, finding the coords and working towards a big raid on another faction's base, spending hours working on mob grinders, etc.
I remember when tnt cannons were basically a new concept, and it changed how we thought about raiding and griefing.
We had a map limit, no absurd perks or /kits, you had to work hard to even start a faction, which was essentially impossible to do on your own. We didn't have a shop at /spawn to just buy whatever we needed, pvp wasn't diluted with enchants and potions.
The best part about it was the dynamic between factions. With 5-6 main powerful factions, it was a constant power struggle. There was always griefing and shit-talking around, and everyone just had a good time.
The playerbase wasn't absurdly large, with usually 20-75 people on at a time, with the most powerful players in the teamspeak channels or skype calls working together.
I just miss the good times we had.
Ahh they are my friends for different reasons, the fact that they dont play minecraft is just a stigma, honestly i think they would enjoy it to an extent, but just look at the amount of people that post here and say things like "give me ideas".. They are not people that enjoy minecraft, the enjoyment, for me at least is, just doing it, building it, fucking it up and doing it better next time. (pic related lol). but yeah its a kiddies game to my peers which is shit because i have played multiplayer about 4 times, id honestly love to play a good SMP world with people that went along with me, but thats what we all want right? So is 1.9 gonna get that modding API?
On top of that, if a file doesn't have an associated program, it won't even have an icon most of the time. If you don't have a media player and browser installed then a .html file and an .mp4 file could look exactly the same.
so, wait, shit, I have a question about the cells storage.
Why are the filter pipes on the bottom storage jars, instead of directly attached to the essentia buffer? Do labelled jars only apply suction of their essentia label? Do advanced pipes only apply suction to their label?
so many fucking questions now that I've taken the time to look at the thing. I'll probably have more whenever I get around to making a similar setup in dirtyville.
Since I have a seed already discovered (I think) that nets me a pretty fantastic area to build my Magitech tower, anything else I should add to my RatPack?
No maids as they cause null pointer crashes randomly I don't have IC2 because it doesn't add anything I can't do with other mods already I want to try to use other mods instead of being a lazy fuck and just using MFR, hence that not being in the pack. I do want ProjectRed, if only for the best block in the world the Project Table
I also have AliceDolls as craftable Maids if need be.
I thought about Thaumic Horizons, but when it was in Infinity it made more issues than it was worth on the serb I used to admin.
What would be the simplest way to pull melons from a chest and automatically craft them into seeds?
I'm pretty sure you can do it with the extra utilities pipes, but I have no experience with them so I'm not sure how to go about doing it.
that's because it was Infinity, and on a server, where players could easily accidently unload chunks during an infusion like retards. in Singleplayer Thaumic Horizons is worth it.
The crashed isnt from maids, its from Sprinkles for Vanilla.
>java.lang.NullPointerException: Colliding entity with block
plop down a chest, put a crafting table behind it. behind that, place an item transfer node with a world interaction upgrade. make sure the suction end is facing the crafting table. it will now automatically suck things through the crafting table into their crafted form
this function acts like a real world crafting table. you can have 9 inventories (slightly larger chests or small chests from the same mod might be best for simple shit) with the contents arranged in the shape of your recipe. for instance, 3 chests, from top to bottom, diamond, diamond, sticks, with a crafting table behind the middle inventory and a node behind that, would auto-create swords for you when the inventories are full.
There we go, got it now. I thought it had something to do with the world interaction thing, but my problem was the chest being sideways. Set the crafting table behind it as you said and it worked. Thanks much.
True. But it got so bad to the point where FTB themselves had to yank the mod from the pack.
Which caused a real mess since it required us to effectively wipe people's data on the update if they infused themselves.
True, but it's the maid itself that's ticking it. So do I remove sprinkles and have to deal with the removal of ease of life things it gives (no swirls in my face from potions, quieter portals and wither spawns) or remove maids, and substitute with Shanghai Dolls?
What should I add? trying to keep a comfy magic theme here.
ehh, not really wanting to do Twilight Forest again, unless there's been stuff added (I think the last I played the end biome was the kobald castle and there was no castle there.) Witchery I might look into though.
There's a castle now, but nothing else. Signs depicting that things should be places, but aside from that there's just a pretty castle that you can harvest for nice looking bricks.
Motivate me to keep working on my texture pack. It's been ~4 years in the works, doing tiny bits a couple times a year.
Alright, makes sense. I just know a lot of people that have really lost their imagination and creativity with age.
Also, that setup looks fucking nice. Why are you making crystallised essentia, though, and not liquid? How do you handle infusion? Do you just break them down back into liquid?
totally making the door to Dr. Brain's Castle with this one day. maybe I'll make it the front door to my spooky mansion nearby dirty's shop.
vid related: https://youtu.be/Zv-m4sDZ4ps
Theme is stay close to vanilla, and just do stuff I think works together.
I started it back on the minecraft forums when there was an event where lots of texturepack creators joined efforts in all making texture packs with only 5 colors per texture, as a challenge. I'm still sticking with that. Restrictions very much breed creativity.
I've mostly focused on nature and wood stuff, lots of missing textures from the last years' worth of updates.
>weapons and tools - haven't done any other items yet as far as I remember
I have no mods installed, never have, and never will. Sorry, can't be assed.
>the lapis lazuli ore is shit, needs to be redone - maybe in two years at the rate I'm going
>current pack is a bit different from the usual, that idea alone makes me like it more
>can't figure out what to do/start doing something and get a random crash
>give up for the day and log out
>>128743361 is right, Mine and Blade allows you to dual-wield pretty much every weapon there is.
From my experience though, the only thing dual-wielding is effective at is breaking double the amount of weapons, no thanks to the grace period between hits. which causes damage to your weapon even if you don't cause any damage.
I would wager a bet that grace period is also why Mojang didn't implement dual wielding in 1.9.
You're better off sword+boarding if you do use M&B.
Are there any /mcg/ servers currently active (4+ people that log in on a daily base) that have IC2 and other industrial mods? The 2 FtB servers I used to play on both shut down a few months ago and I really don't like playing solo.
I never really played minecraft until 2012. I thought it was dumb as shit. While on my second tour, my friend who was in the bunk adjacent to me talked it the fuck up the first time it was mentioned. I had it on my xbox at the time cause my brother urged me to get it to play with him. He told me I just had to get used to it and Id like it. We would have an hour or so before bed after doing mounted patrols 6 days a week. We started on a Sunday (maintenance day) after we did all our assigned shit. We played for the next 8 hours. I was hooked. He knew what he was doing, looking for diamonds and whatnot. I was so engrossed in just maintaining our little cave/home. Farming, killin zombies, making it all look nice. The simplicity of it all was amazing. Never before have I played a video game where I was okay taking my time. No internalized, min/max, meta-gamer self-induced anxiety that I was making the wrong decisions. We couldnt find sheep for the life of us so death would mean a run from spawn to race the item despawn. The careful, methodical, planned excursions were carefully prepared for. The mine and the subsequent cave system we tunneled into soon had multiple checkpoints stocked with food and other supplies. Never have I had so much fucking fun in a 2-man coop setting. Either one or 4+, otherwise it still felt lonely (I was still dealing with my wife who left me for my best friend before my first tour, nasty business.) Aside from all the drugs I was doing stateside and the simplicity of living in a warzone, I managed to feel that "safe" simplicity that you dont feel with rockets, gunfire, and bombs going off around you. It was so comforting.
I had my laptop as well. I had FNV and Skyrim for those times that I was alone or couldnt sleep and I was trying my hand at modding the game. Well eventually I was on /v/ and there was a minecraft thread. They talked about mods and posted pictures of beautiful/crazy stuff. I was hooked.
I purchased my PC copy of minecraft. The next day with my friend. As time went on, people would watch us play. With all your tasks taken care of, there was very little else to do besides talk about sex, the retarded locals, and what you were gonna do when you got home. We were brigade level advisors, real top heavy. Lots of officers, senior enlisted with even less junior enlisted. Rank slipped a bit, but we were like family. Couldn’t help it. It all started when my SFC said “Yo bro, lemme get at that lego game you guys always playin. I loved legos as a kid.” After his first night glued to the TV in the rec/briefing room he too bought it for the PC. Privates, Sergeants, Lieutenants, even my fucking commander, a major, soon got in on it. The tipping point for a lot of the older/ranking guys was during one of our nightly team meetings. I didn’t have shit to do that day and I finished building my little compound, house, went skeleton hunting, got my melon farm going (from the one seed my friend traded me for beef and wheat) and generally did cosmetic stuff and organizing. During our team meetings I never really had much to say, I was a relatively new buck sergeant, the lowest ranking person on the team (my friend, his squad, and the other security teams were from another unit), and the medic. I had a lot of autonomy so I sorta just did my own thing. Well, feeling left out, I made my Powerpoint slide for the meetings and added pictures of my compound and highlighted and discussed what was accomplished in a very serious/military tone to the group. The team got a kick out of it all and my CO asked if that’s really what I did and that theres a game where you can do all of that. I told him yes and my SFC interjected to confirm and tell everyone about our little server thing going on. He said to come to his room and set it up on his computer because he wanted to play.
We had gotten some CAT5 (Ethernet) cable from the commo guys, drilled a few holes in some walls, dug some ditches and we had a dedicated LAN server for our little American compound. We had 15 of us. There were the griefers, the simple, the elaborate, etc. A little bit of everything. Alliances and betrayal happened everyday. We even managed to settle our bickering long enough to do a 10 man expedition into the nether to locate the fortress, farm, and resource gather. Houses needed to be hid, traps were all over the place, and decoys littered known travel routes. It was amazing. I had never played a game like this.
Towards the end of the tour, my friend and I toyed with the idea of doing more with the server. Final operations, preparing to leave, and other stuff kept a lot of us busy. There wasn’t much time for everyone to play so we toyed with forge, Noppes NPC’s, and world painter. We planned to make an actual server when we got home. We managed to build 5 cities, make several factions, quests, some dungeons, etc. Had a pretty good story going too. Drawing on my AP English from high school I made an outline with the lore and had all that “but what is author actually saying?” crap. I wanted people to think about stuff. We were so determined to do it. Well on the way home, my computer crashed and my 3TB that I had my backup and everything else on it was got accidentally smashed. Lost not just our little server world but our first server. I didn’t just lose my time, I lost those memories. I would stab a hobo to walk that map just one last time.
From the southern coast of the map with the commanders harbor fortress, past the jungle that had lava poured from the treetops, up Taliban valley with craters all over from the TNT traps I placed to scare off people looking for my house, to HURM village and its boxed in villagers that we all agreed not to kill, to Faggot House, built in the sky by my friend to escape the mob spawns, all the nether gates that would send you god knows where since we had a ton of them…. Like wanting to tell a friend you lost downrange the goodbye you should’ve the last time you saw them and living with that regret that something was so great and now its gone. With me and my friend back at our respective homes, and me getting sent to treatment cause I was (still kinda am) nuts, losing all our work just kind of made us give up.
Time passed and I fell for the ESO trap. Quickly becoming bored with that I decided to revive the server idea. My friend was now stationed in Korea and didn’t have much free time cause he had a shit team leader. He seemed a little apprehensive about restarting so I figured Id go and make a plan and test stuff so itd seem like our work wouldn’t get wasted this time. I filled one of those 100pg notepads with ideas, lists, all kinds of shit. My desk was covered in sticky notes with little reminders and how-to’s. I put up a white board and cork board to brainstorm and hang up flow charts. Once again life fucking happened. I ended up moving on a short notice and a little later got put in a psych ward for reasons. In the blink of an eye I lost all my stuff again. Kept all my programs/test server but since my retarded ass kept all my how-to’s on tiny little sticky notes, I forgot how to set it all up and didn’t feel like having to relearn everything a second time. I lost all that just a little over a year ago.
So here I am, full circle in /mcg/ at fucking 3am. “why did you write this shit feels story you faggot? I cant believe I read this bullshit.” Well, everyone always talks about making a server or is looking for that one server like “before”. Brothers, Im going to do this. For me, you, all of us. Im in a pre-med program for school but with all the shit games that keep coming out, making something that can attempt to give you all those feelings back, that’s what I want. Yeah monies are great and Im gonna try to get something out of it so I can keep up with it and keep making it better and Ive got a full blown fuckin team this time and not all of them are of my mindset (luckily half are). For me, deep down, this isint about money. I want to stop these shit stories, server searching, and this depressing shit. I played FO4 with my daughter on my lap. Let her make the choices, travel paths, shoot the occasional Brahmin, etc. Shes 6 and learning about moral ambiguity and its so amazing to listen to her choose, on her own, to protect people and help people out. Im writing this story for her. I want her to take part in that “long ago” gaming experience weve all had. I want you all to smash the kiddies. I want you to show these youngins whats up. Beat that goddamn “long ago” feeling into them. Help me try to make some better gamers.
Im not trying to “loladvertize”, I promised myself I would from the beginning I would come back to /v/ for you guys that inspired me all these years. I have a 5-man command team and 6 testers/builders/artists/etc. (small shit). We all got lives but my command team has been ontop of shit so much that I felt confident enough to share with you all tonight.
I wont bore you with all the specifics but were going to do an insane story, factions, and a sandbox area. Absolutely FUCKING ZERO P2W. I cant fucking stand P2W. Its like predicting the end. P2W just drives away new players because the game was seen as some sort of quick profit and not for what a game is supposed to be. None of this “donate for OP shit” or “lolfreeitems” bullshit. Youre never going to feel that true feeling of having accomplished anything. Servers that do that cheat their players out of one of the biggest reasons people play games to begin with. We want Game of Thrones level drama. I want players to have an impact on the story, I want to immortalize the epic shit you all do in this story. This has probably all been said, Ive seen my fair share of failed promises with claims with player created content. Of my command team, only me and my writer have played minecraft, at that I just recently showed him pictures with texture packs and he was blown the fuck away. The rest just want to make something amazing, always wanted to make a ‘game’, and believe in our core values. This isint even at the “no going back stage”. Once we get an official business license, were in it to win it. To get to that stage, and to summarize why I wrote some fuck-long essay, is simply this: give me some ideas. If I cant make something that you guys would want, then Im just not gonna do it. I will promise that Ill do my best to make this what its supposed to be. Me and my team are tired of the shit quality games are constantly releasing with. Ill post this a few times on /v/ and /mcg/ later to make sure the people I know that are lurking see this. Im open to emailing if thatd work.
Tldr; making a server. Need ideas. Read the last part at least nigger
2/10 I cant sleep.
picture me a retard, but the resource pack importer don't recognise this zip as a resouce pack.
I wanted to try it :(
>x8 and x64 nether star generators generate orders of magnitude less RF than the x1 nether star generator
>find thread (from 2014) about the issue on xu github
>rwtema: No point in fixing this. You would never need a 64x generator.
can you guys give me a good dossier on all the wrongdoings of Curse (not just minecraft related)?
maybe i overreacted when some people wanted to use gamepedia instead of wika but i don't want this (unrelated) game ruined
and /mcg/ anons playing on a serb?
all the /mcg/ modded serbs are ded
PvP/heavily armored enemies? Rapier.
Everything else? Battle Sign.
Seriously, the battle sign is the unsung hero of TCon weapons, between it's bonus writability and it's incredibly strong counterattack.
I go with longsword for bonus mobility, the longjump ability is pretty great, and it gives bonus damage when running, so it can be pretty strong. It can handle most enemies, but you might want to consider a change later on or for specific needs. But for building things, exploring, or just getting out of holes deeper than 1 block, it's great
If TCon is installed I generally just go with /gamemode c and punch them to death, that way the enemies actually live longer than 2 seconds after they're spotted, and doing that is not only fairer to the mob, but also takes more effort on my part to become death itself.
>e-celeb item gets bonus writability, by far the most broken trait, making it objectively superior to other melee options (bar rapier's bullshit 100% armor penetration vs armored targets)
TiCon was a mistake. I'll never understand why this general shits on Botania more than it shits on a mod that single-handledly annihilates any semblance of "survival" in a survival game, as well as making every single weapon/tool introduced by other mods completely pointless. Not that Botania doesn't have its own reasons to be shat on, but Botania is nowhere near as broken or popular as TiCon is.
One thing I find odd about tcon complaints for weapons is that the game's combat was never particularly demanding, complex, or even rewarding. Even with vanilla, chug a strength potion with a sharp 5 diamond sword and anything goes down in 1 or two hits, and it's not really hard to get that. probably harder than the amount of quarts needed for a fuck-you sword.
Ranged might be a different case, but in most instances, what does it matter if something takes 20 or 80 damage if either is going to kill it anyway. just seems stupid more than anything,
I will add onto this post I am aware tcon "takes away from the game" in other ways more than just the combat, and that most of the logical complains might come more from the tools than weaponry, I am just sayin, in a game where most of the time the combat is touted as an annoyance at worst, that it becomes a rallying point for anti-tcon sentiment when it seems to be a thing most don't even really want to bother with
I will also inquire, do you actually enjoy mc's combat normally?
