Physique fags BTFO edition.
>What is Grim Dawn
Grim Dawn is an ARPG made by a few left over developers from Iron Lore Entertainment who also made Titan Quest along with a few other devs including one D1/D2 designer. Currently you can't really pirate it because it breaks NPCS and quests (custom DRM I'm guessing) but there is a DRM free version planned for launch.
>What are some features
Dual Class System
Refined Loot Drops
300+ Hero Monsters
Modding Tools (Future)
DRM Free Version (At launch in February 2016)
Survival Mode (think endless dungeon) (for all backers)

>Why is this game taking so long to make?
Post in the thread, in the forums or in the ledit.
>Story summery by aniki:
>Devotion skills level 1 - max level comparisons
>Previous chest drop
>They are now significantly reduced on Normal/Veteran difficulty
Not like Legendaries dropped for me on Veteran anyway. Thanks RNGesus.
>tfw nothing about FPS drops fixed in the changelog
Welp saw that coming.
Oh and I missed this
>Fixed an issue with the Bane of Cairn quest not rewarding a Legendary item if the player was too low level to receive one
It doesn't 100% reward you with a Legendary if you're above L50 anyway. Fucking hell.
>killing 4 harbingers at once
>having 95% Vitality resist
>taking no damage
>everyone said that a retaliation build doesn't work on ultimate
>drain the Harbingers' energy before killing them
>they can't cast their AoE
Solael Witchfire is 2 stronk.
You could auto-attack with no weapons and it'd still be viable
It is, all the people who wasted all their points on cunning think they did wise because OA devotions got a nerf. They somehow didn't read that all enemies got their HP, OA and DA nerfed as well.
I bet they also think that DW tree from Nightblade was nerfed and worse than before.
thanks to enemy nefs, it id just like it was before on b29
I guess spending 87 attribute points for 270 OA was worth the trade off of not being able to wear anything.
>implying people put points into cunning for OA alone
>implying that spirit is completely useless since it doesnt grant OA/DA
>I guess spending 87 attribute points for 270 OA was worth the trade off of not being able to wear anything.
i still can wear everything on my blademaster without a single point in physique though
>i still can wear everything on my blademaster without a single point in physique though
Unless you have Military Conditioning maxed and magically can pull 500 Physique out of gear/Devotion, this is objectively false.
Anyone have Praetorian Faceguard/Shoulderguards? I'm up to my eyeballs in lightning epics but I cannot find anything good for my Witchblade. I still have Shoulderguards of Perdition on and I'm level 53.
What's up with all the Physique/Physical Damage haters since B30 dropped? Not everyone feels like playing a "le ebin magic may may" wizard 24/7 you edgelords. Nothing wrong with liking plate armor, which is objectively the coolest looking armor in the game.
Thanks to the soldier class, and using a shit load of gear that you found on other characters. Try doing that on completely self found or with a different class combination. It's basically gimping yourself for a mostly useless stat.
There was quite a few times that I wouldn't have survived on HC if I hadn't spent most of my point on physique.
I have a spare set. Post a game and I'll trade you.
Google Grim Dawn cheat engine. I joined a multiplayer game that had it turned to something like x10
It killed my PC and the game turned into a slideshow.
>"275-344 aether damage"
what the fuck does mean? what does this damage apply to? every single damaging ability you have? does the value scale based on the speed of the attack or quantity of projectiles?
i hate how vague this shit is.
>Thanks to the soldier class
no shit? what else am i supposed to use, occultist?
>using a shit load of gear that you found on other characters
i run it self-found since lvl 26, and never had any problems with dying or equipping better armor
just pick a random +60 physique from the ground, grab few +physique materia and make everything self-sustainable
flat damage on buffs applies to weapon attacks
flat damage on skills applies only to those skills
are you retarded to not understand this?
so an ability like that would be much more effective on pblades than anything else, since it does a minor amount of %wpn dmg but a lot of projectiles, which will each receive that flat benefit?
You could have just went to that house near the Burrwitch Village, gotten the cultist orders and made the deal with Direni. You get the key, and it's a much better outcome for later in the game if you spare him.
So, help me out here. What's the best way to do shaman/soldier 2hand? Am I using savagery? Thunderous strike? Am I stuck with memeborn talisman? What am I using for aoe?
I figure blitz is good to engage and also does a shitton of damage to bosses, feral hunger makes you basically immortal, obviously, stack passive so/buffs, where do I go from there?
Homestead, you get him if you chose not to the merchant as requested by the dying guy, near the Arkovian Foothiles.
There is also the secret merchant near the blood grove rift.
is there some hidden event if i not kill the bad witch?
>get one shotted by something
>i have no idea what killed me
>can't check damage log to see what resistance i need to boost because there's no such thing as a damage log
>being so bad you need a damage log
I mean I want one too and it's one of the first things I plan to mod in, but come on, gitgud.
Not to my knowledge. You just get her effigy I think.
Not really. It's only good if you can get it into Ultimate ranks and have a lot of OA, neither of which are likely to happen.
>a /gdg/ approved mod
Depends what you're looking for.
nah there were no puddles, i was fighting bloodlord whatshisface outside the final boss. all i know is it wasn't his demon breath style ability because that only does 10% of my hp
i'm trying to figure out how much of each resistance i need in order to not get fucked in each act, pls no bully
Does anyone have the Empowered Faceguard and Empowered Chestguard of Perdition they'd be willing to trade?
I've found the empowered hand and shoulder pieces but still need those two. I've got a handful of legendaries and have also horded way too many epics ranging from level 40 - 75.
Savagery and Thunderous Strike are good. I don't see why they get a lot of hate. Only thing about Thunderous Strike is that you can't proc WPS skills like Feral Hunger or Zolhan's Technique, but the skill itself more than makes up for that.
Act 1 (Ultimate) 40 poison resist min, 33ish pierce resist min, 60+ cold resist min.
Act 2 (Ultimate) 60+ bleed resist min, ~40 pierce resist, physical resist not necessary but helps a lot, same with Aether resist.
Act 3 (Ultimate) ~50 Pierce Resist, 60+ elemental resists, 30+ chaos resist, 20 aether resist min
Act 4 (Ultimate) capped Elemental resist, 60+ chaos resist
At least in my opinion.
He isn't dead though. Also
>yo nigga I'm so alpha I can live alone in the swampz
>watchu doin cracka I wuz gunna kill that chaoz bitch myself
>gets caught in the void 10 seconds into the final fight
>I dindu nuffin pls help
What a faggot.
>15% increase in damage for 2H ranged weapons in build 30
>they're still absolute garbage compared to DW pistols
Not skilled enough to get good drops
Only one death, better than expected.
its a dot thats ticking down as you autoattack with savagery. Its just another source of dps added on top of your autoattack.
Unless forcewave dot can be stacked on itself I dont see why you would want to replace your auto-attack with it because it does lousy initial damage.
>putting points into cunning
that's not how you get OA or DPS, anon
OH MY FUCKING GOD THE CHANGE TO RECKLESS TEMPEST IS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED FOR MY AETHER DAMAGE FIRE STRIKE DUAL PISTOLS MEME BUILD
NOW MAYBE I CAN EQUIP RESISTANCE GEAR INSTEAD OF % AETHER DAMAGE GEAR WITHOUT HITTING MONSTERS LIKE A DAMP SPONGE
For devotions pick up Wraith, Widow (Arcane bomb can be put on Marauder's Salvo if you've got the belt) and Imp (aetherfire on FS). Get whatever the fuck else you want. Personally I picked up Lion, Crane and Hawk.
>no flashbang + transmuter
yep i'm an idort
My resistances fucking suck, this is on veteran by the way, I'm act 2 in elite, man, this sucks, worst is my OA, I fucking hate the MISS MISS MISS against bosses and sometimes normal mobs in elite
eh dps display is fucked
Yes, idk why people use dps, only thing that matters is how hard a single hit is, based on how often you crit, cast speed and attack speed are very situational subjective stats
Whats a good test of a build using the premade blank level 75 character? I died to cronley's thugs in ultimate pretty quickly but I'm only using vendor shit and have negative resists.
Also how much offensive ability is enough?
>cast speed and attack speed are very situational subjective stats
Yes, especially if you're ranged and you have to kite, for some mobs (heroes) you can literally only get 1 hit per kite, for others you can get 5 or sometimes even more for slow mobs.
Don't know I'm playing the game the right way and im lvl 57 so not that far yet. Started a new toon who is lvl 53, but he's having issues clearing content specifically bosses purely due to speed. I still clear fine without dying but my oa is Makin fights take 3x as long
It's because it can't take into account conversions against your bonuses I believe. But again, dps is a bad Stat for this game. Very rarely are you standing still attacking as fast as possible anyways
>tfw when they buffed whirlpool out the ass
>tfw my chain freeze shadow strike build is literally shitting on everything
oh my god thank you based crate
>have cap on internet, throttle us to 25kb/s when over
>stepdad gets an Xbone for Xmas and 6 physical games and 2 digital downloads
>attempts to download both games and uses up all the bandwidth
>didn't even finish downloading them
>PC this morning decided to shutdown mid game session and on startup
>have to redownload 1gb worth of Grim dawn updates
>lost an unknown amount of progression on multiple characters
>still downloading the update after 10 fucking hours
>get fucking fed up because steam gets cut out and it starts downloading a Dota 2 Workshop update that for some fucking reason gets bigger and bigger each time it finishes
like it was 45mb and now its up to 135mb that took 2 hours to get to that point.
>set steam to offline mode so i can play Grim Dawn on previous patches because im fucking tired of steams fuckery and my throttled internet
>GD fucking crashes at the Crate logo everytime
>so many things going on in my life at this time that im seriously contemplating suicide, this shit is just icing on the cake
4chan blessed me with captcha working for once but i fucked up by hitting keys and it posted for some fucking reason. anyways.
i truly hope it does anon, because im at the edge.
i haven't even gotten to see how much progression i lost on my characters, i swear if its like 2 patches worth of progression im done with this game, not their fault it happened but its just too much of my time wasted.
Used to be if you didn't have devotion shrine, which is that it's faster. But on normal there is a shrine so you want to do them for that shrine. In elite and utlimate, skip it
no jobs where i live, my step brother had a job fixing the roofs of houses that got hit by a hailstorm last year but he got fucked over and didnt get paid.
we live in a rural area and our only ISP is Shaw satelite because the nearest tower is too far away.
>stuck in a dead ass town with no possibility for a job or any kind of progress inside that dead ass town
join the military or go to college, I went to college. If you can't, just bide your time
being a lazy motherfucker, which is the best auto attack replacer skill to build around and which devotions do I attach to it?
dual wield melee; fire-strike saboteur
sword and board; blade arc battlemage
2 hand; savagery warder
2 hand; savagery druid
also what's the go to component for putting on weapons or all they all the same and only matter what +% damage you have on your gear?
I want to totally fucking trash this game but don't want to go pets or PB
I have a two handed Shaman and I'm running a similar auto attack + Feral Strike to stay alive.
I've found Wendingo Totem to be an effective heal skill. I believe the patch notes mentioned a buff this build too. It's got a bit of a small AoE though, not much room to maneuver in melee.
If you want damage, Wind Devils. You can use them to lower resists and zap mutherfuckers with lightning bolts.
I'm confused. So when a weapon says %Damage like this says % Poison Damage, does that mean each attack does 42% poison damage or does it mean that the poison damage I do is increase by 42%?
Also does shit like witchfire stack with the attack abilities in the Soldier tree like candescence?
poison damage you deal is % bonus. This is in spells or auto attacks.
IE, if you do 1-5 poison damage on attack, and your spell does 1-10, you're increasing both by 42%.
Flat value bonuses apply to autos only, but as a result, also apply to spells that do % weapon damage. IE, if your soleals adds 10 chaos damage to your attack, you do 10 more chaos per auto, and if your spell does 25% weapon damage, 2.5 will be chaos damage.
Hope it helps
can someone post all the changed skills?
GDforum users are being niggers and devs decided that telling us that the skills have been changed without mentioning the numbers is somehow alright
I wish some drawfags played GD
the potential is enormous
manticore eyes in that place to the left of tyrants hold, shit load of manticores. NOte they can't drop if you're 10 levels higher than the mob.
bristley firs just from beasts. Dread skulls idk nigga
potential for what?
i don't have any OCs for you to pls no stealarino yet
It's that time again, I'm looking to trade for:
Chausses of Barbaros
Mask of the Harbinger and Entropic Coil if they have good OA rolls
I've got a bunch of 65+ legendaries and almost all the mythical relic patterns, let me know what you're looking for.
Good overall but
>OA/DA and Ultimate still a mess
>Lethal Gambit is still shit
>Bloody Pox's spread is bugged/overnerfed
A lot of stuff got buffed and fixed, but the issues listed above are enough to rustle my jimmies.
>Nearly no one uses them
You could 'easily' reach 100% block and -100% block recovery time before the patch.
>"select all the pictures showing coffee"
>select one showing tomato soup
>"Correct answer :^)"
>mfw the transition from Normal to Elite now
It's so buttery and smooth.
>lost block chance
>less enemy damage reduced on Warcry
>enemy damage redution removed from Blitz
>The Chaos damage conversion in the Cadence transmuter was removed, the Elemental damage was brought down
The only reason it doesn't feel that nerfed is because it's still godly compared to everything else.
>playing with a friend
>he's a soldier/demo
>keeps whining about how easy it is for me since I'm ranged and how hard it is in melee for him
>he gets trashed by log since he doesn't want to get resist gear and still goes 2H wih damage only gear
>gets trashed in ultimate while I breeze through with my dw pistol sorc maxed on resists
>he's still complaining that it's super easy for me in comparison
>literally goes full retard about how it is so unfair to nerf the worst class and how is shitty character is even shittier now
Remember to choose your friends with care, and that you need someone just as autismal as you to play this game until the end
>Conjurer loses Possession because you can't use it with Primal Bond anymore
G-Great patch, Crate.
>he didn't play a Cadence witchblade
Look at this pleb.
> usually in these games its damage all the way
in what games lol. In all the Diablo games and Titan's Quest resistances were always very important. What babby shit have you been playing where resistances don't matter?
So I'm rolling Demo/Occ, this is my first time playing. I plan on summoning some helldogs while I pop pop niggas with flame shots. Its pretty effective so far, but I'm lacking on fun potential here.
What should I do for the fun factor?
Forget about pets if you want to have
fun. Plus it's hard to make hybrids work, specially for a first character.
I suggest you go the boom-boom way and and spec into Grenado/Cannister Bomb/Mortar Trap.
Blowing mobs up to space is kek-worthy.
Thanks for the advice, I'll give that a go. How do you make an Occult build fun? I like the flavor a lot, I was hoping that pets would get more interesting down the road. Any unconventional builds for them?
~58k crits with shitty onehander and shit gear
Occultist is a pretty boring mastery by itself, but some class combos are somewhat entertaining.
Dreeg's Evil Eye, transmuted Albrecht's Aether Ray ( from the Arcanist ) and any Soldier/Nightblade/Demo using Solael's Witchfire with their autoattacks are fine I think.
>Discord's chaos damage removed
>Possession no longer boosts physical damage
>You can't use Oleron's Rage alongside with Possession anymore
Trauma is worthless if you are going for a Chaos build. Gottagofast is nice, but it's more of a luxury. The OA is the only thing you'd get out of Oleron's Rage, but even that isn't a necessity anymore because of the nerfed DA values. Simply put I'm a happy camper that I don't need to go balls deep into two masteries now to make a Witchblade work.
yeah diablo 3 resist thing is fucked
first, there is resist all, you don't need to think about anything else
second, why they calculate them not in percents is mystery.. like you have 2173 poison resist.. what is the meaning of this?
not to mention they removed all the elemental stuff from damage, like cold didn't slow you, etc. which is shit.
game is piss easy though, you can turn your brains off. which is good in some cases.
welp, in d2 sometimes there was all res affix, but it was quite rare. Im not saying, that it's bad in general, but in d3 whole thing is reversed, sometimes item have +resist from one element, and automatically that item is shit.
>spec out of primal strike into savagery
>literally tripple my sheet dps
>can pull points out of IEE now that I'm not starving for mana and put it into wendigo to facetank everything
>bosses actually die pretty quickly
>decent enough aoe trashclear from reckless temptest devotion and critquakes
Can't believe I ever bothered with primal strike
Are my friends dumb for not picking a 2nd class by level 20? I keep telling them it offers nothing but benefits to go ahead and pick something at least for masteries but they're non-committal at best.
I think one asked "can you even max out all the skills in one class by the cap" when I first asked him what he was going to pick
I don't touch a 2nd mastery until my mid 40's to early 50's. Otherwise you'll be spreading yourself thin. It may seem more appealing to have access to more skills, but it's better to just focus on one mastery at a time,
Just played around for a few hours, pure Demo is working great with flame shot, grenado and canister so far along with the AoE fuck off explosion for getting hit.
Thanks for the help bruv
>15+ level 20-ish characters
>haven't found The Final March a single time
I-Is this sorcery?
>Wasting 30+ points to get oleron and turn that 70% into at best 75%
Possession is far better as an exclusive than Oleron now for Witchblade anyway, even as it was before it was far more useful because of the massive damage mitigation on it. I can't see why anyone would jump 18 points in the soldier tree then dump 12 into Oleron for that.
At some point you'll need to pick a secondary mastery if you don't want to be gimped late game. It's okay in normal though.
>maxing Nidalla's Hidden Hand
>as a Blademaster
guys, I need to clear some shit up
first of all, does burn/frostbite/electrocution benefit from +% elemental damage?
what's the order of conversion for physical to elemental and elemental to chaos for blood orb of ch'thon?
if internal trauma is physical and elemental DoT is elemental (duh), is IT affected by conversion of physical damage into some other damage type?
and lastly, what happens if you convert more than 100% of physical damage? like when you have a piercing weapon with high innate conversion and use some skills/materia to boost the total over 100%
>does burn/frostbite/electrocution benefit from +% elemental damage?
>if internal trauma is physical and elemental DoT is elemental (duh), is IT affected by conversion of physical damage into some other damage type?
>what happens if you convert more than 100% of physical damage?
why would they make it impossible to scale dots? You telling me that if I want to deal and DoT, I have to scale that spells main dmg type separately its DoT type?
They went full retard with these damage types
>30% Physical Damage converted to Chaos Damage
>Symbol of Solael
>10% Physical Damage converted to Chaos Damage
>Pestilence of Dreeg
>10% Physical Damage converted to Acid Damage
>proc abominable might for 50% more chaos conversion
I don't see why can't someone reach 140% or more
care to elaborate what the order in this case is?
in TQ poison was the only DoT worth shit, because it didnt have a flat counterpart
elemental DoTs and bleeding were more of a flavor thing put in hundreds on certain weapons, but now you get a tiny bit but on everything, so dont even bother with them unless you go balls deep
im making a frostburn character right now and it starts to take off with 300 DoT on level 24 but i dont see it go that well
So why even put them in? It adds needless complexity to the game and fucks with gearing because instead of getting something useful now I have lol frostburn on this piece of shit gear..
Why wouldn't they just add that damage into the spell as flat dmg if they werent going to do anything worthwhile with the DoTs
if you have 40%, 30%, 10%, 10% and 50% it would convert them to ~28%, ~22%, ~7% ~7% and ~36%
you dont have to use them, and most gear has both +%flat and +%DoT damage
finding a flat DoT damage source, now that can be hard
It would be better they just did it so damage types have a chance to impart a percentage of that damage as a DoT. Have generic +%DoT just like +%retaliation and +DoT chance gear.
Unfortunately GD is rather obtuse when it comes to numbers shit. Hell their own character sheet in game can't even factor everything in to properly calculate damage.
It depends on which skills and types of damage you're focusing on.
Caster Demo is really energy hungry so I'd consider going for fire damage and Arcanist as a secondary mastery.
You can also pick Soldier for extra tankiness and physical damage.
Or even Occultist for CoF and the Raven's heal and buffs.
There are a lot of possibilties.
no but I've killed a reddit squad by p(r)oxy with fever mod
>cast it on a hero pack
>they get destroyed before popping bubbles/OG
>mad as fuck
>reload their HC saves and make another room, with password this time
it would be kekworthy if they had any shame but they don't
look for the harbinger set
2h ranged is underrated as fuck and crate have just begun tweaking it with the shaman/niggablade changes
>I've been finding a million of them lately
Good for you, i doing ranged 2h sham and want crossbow instead of a gun badly, but i swear they're like rarest type of items, not mention it's almost impossible to get upgrade.
But i saw some sweet crossbow @ rovers quartermaster.
>and want crossbow instead of a gun badly, but i swear they're like rarest type of items
I'll swap you your luck for mine. I probably get more crossbows and crossbow repeats than any other type of weapon. It seems like Crate really, really wants me to try them. They can fuck right off tho. I'd rather a bow than a crossbow.
Doesn't make sense, brah, otherwise the same problem would apply to casters as well, and it doesn't. To be honest there isn't a distinction of melee / ranged / caster in Grim Dawn. Characters who use guns are literally wizards, they just use their guns to shoot magic instead of wands.
tl;dr who needs CC when you can just chain lightning everything to death from a distance before they even get to you.
well there's an increased chance for legos to drop on ultimate. Of course RNG can still fuck you over and there is a chance to get repeats. I can't understand why Crate made the best end game items sets, though. That will completely fuck your brain since trading in this game is so shitty.
>Homestead farmers used to get together every 7 years to kill the new dermapteran queen
These farmers must me hardcore fuckers, I'm surprised Aetherial invasion succeeded at all considering how fucked up the world already was before them.
>lv fucking 68 shield
>only 100 damage
>not usable without moderate CD skills
why can't they make it scale off of shield block value? this is pretty ridiculous
>using a set bonus makes the game less shit
>no, you must only use greens and yellow without picking soldier or arcanist or else you are a casul who doesn't abide by my self-imposed rules
Question: Is there something wrong with using Shields on Soldier?
I feel like /gdg/ is really critical of it, and I'm not sure if they're being honest and that Shields are bad or if they're being facetious and saying Shields are so good, it's babby mode.
>>Question: Is there something wrong with using Shields on Soldier?
No clue, I just have it with lego shield drops left and right.
Imo, shield/pistol is garbage and everything else is just a damage drop, too, if you want to play tank, you can do that in MP though
soldier is literally the only viable shield class and people already hate soldiers for being absolutely broken with their DPS x tankiness ratio
I only go for OG and shield mastery to not feel dirty while playing shieldbros
anything more is plain abuse
>build fucking 30
>still no necromancer class with low duration summons, barrier pseudoheals, soul harvesting and costly spells with long cast times
>no skills that are risk:reward such as reserving your life for stronger allies
Sadly a Necro with lots of summons wouldn't work very well. Game struggles to handle more than 3 pets at a time.
>make an RP shieldbro summoner with that 80% vit resist spoopy shield
>get zombie active
>eventually have 3 zombies up at a time
>game can't handle more than 3 pets targeting the same enemy so my hellhound is just walking around
it hurts how bad GD can be
remember when summons were raid tier before the shaman patch happened?
I literally didn't have to resummon my hound before ilgorr or some bitch ass AoE heroes and it oneshot all the yellow mobs as well
>3 zombies up
How can I get zombies? Or do you mean the spirits from Necromancer's Deathgrips? Or the skeletons you can get from devotion?
I'm trying to make a necro work. If it's possible to get zombies, I want them
B-but I want a zombie summon
Spirits look just like the ghosts. They're not too shabby.
>another lazy recolor by Crate
why even bother
6 dogs, 2-3 manticores, skellingtons and spectres identical to mobs
wake me up
They have a shitton of different armor and weapons models (and pretty impressive ones at that) so it's just a case of them mismanaging their time and effort into the wrong things.
>implying titan quest had more assets
there were like 5 armors with the same graphic, most monsters were literal recolors too
though, even if it was recycled around it was quite pretty, as opposed to GD which is just bland as shit
>I can run Path of Exile @60 perfectly fine
electrical burn? the one that had literally no combo other than lightning bolt?
maybe energy burn? that shit is kinda op but bosses obviously have stupid ass resist to that
Because on higher difficulties you don't always have all the components on hand to restore them as you find them. Now that they are marked on the map you get a reminder of those you left behind to restore after getting all the required crap.
which classes bolster soldier-focused physical damage builds the most?
I went through nightblade but it's really just piercing and bleed not much physical damage. Outside of a duel wield build which im not trying to do, sword+board obvsly.
Ever had a case where a mob/boss was made strong as fuck from his items?
>what is niggablade
>what is demoman
>what is commando with ranged procs
there's plenty of that already
you can tell that the balance really went to shit with introduction of shaman
if they make another class instead of balancing the existing 6 you will know to quit this piece of shit game for good
I hope the new class will focus on aether damage, vitality over time and random cool shit :)
you know, things that havn't really been done before. some shield active abilities besides force wave would be sick af
Okay I've done some research and now I'm like 90% sure it's a global multiplier since it seems to work the same way as %resist reduction, except the maluses don't stack together.
So your answer would be 0.60 * the mob's damage.
>vit over time
>random cool shit
what we need is some huge energy whore caster who balances that by energy leech and some benefits from killing enemies
Fuck yeah, I've been recently thinking about some kind of aether tank and now I want to play it so much.
>what we need is some huge energy whore caster who balances that by energy leech
So another Arcanist then?
>and some benefits from killing enemies
This is the worst shit ever, unless it's raising the dead.
shaman doesn't do vit over time it just does vit
arc does mage aether
I'm talking melee aether, and any vit over time at all, give it some shield active attacks, that's it.
arc can't leech energy because that would require autoattacking
battlemage isn't the leech caster because you can get a lot more from energy absorption instead of elemental exchange
AOE vitality damage over time via sigil of consumption, bloody pox and wendigo totem.
Okay I see what you're saying, vitality-over-time as it's own damage seems really redundant now. Maybe some flat vitality damage nukes or something besides DOOM BOLT which is 50% vitality only, if that. completely possible there's other actives I don't know about.
fair enough, why add vitality-over-time as a thing then? Unless it's just flat vitality damage that is applied over time in some kind of weird wonky thing.
also not sure how I feel about the whole "shield or 2hander" or "requires 2handed weapon" it seems really homogenizing to the game in terms of build diversity. Or the whole "requires 2hand ranged or melee" etc.
Some people seriously.
>OMG CRET FIX UR SERVERS PLS
>I PAI MONI AN MUH FRIEND CANT JOIN
>but there are no servers...
>WOW FCK U NICE COMMOONITY
WHAT there aren't any servers?
>Cratefags will defend this
>Finish Veteran at lvl 48
>Want to go Honored with the black legion for those sweet nightblade jewels before moving on to Elite
>Decide to do only Black Legion bounties
>3 days later I'm lvl 58, Honored at Rovers and Homestead, still not Honored at Black Legion
Getting rep for the Black Legion is like putting your face next to an anus and breathing deep. The majority of rep comes from the monsters you kill and not the crapsack missions given to you via a shitty fucking UI.
woke up this morning to the download completed, which took nearly 20 hours, rofl.
opened up grim dawn to see all my characters exactly as i left them.
honestly surprised the shit out of me and lifted my spirit for once.
today is a damn good day /gdg/.
>kill moose in elite
>fast kill, no need to pot
>legendaries decently often, lots of mythical relic recipes
>kill moose in ultimate
>takes 10 minutes+, hoarfrosts mandatory
>get nothing but blues and low level recipes
why the fuck would I bother again?
Dream was mostly OP because you could make a Haruspex and become literally unkillable.
Between hunting and dream and the right gear, myou could fairly easily get 100% chance to avoid projectiles and enough DA to not get hit by anything in the game. There were like 3 attacks in the entire game that weren't considered melee or a projectile, so those were basically the only things that could hit you.
Plus, spearspex did very good damage as well. Dream basically just comboed with everything else way too well.
I had actually never specced into the dot damage in dream. I was like "oh look another crappy dot" and just didn't bother except I hadn't taken the weapon damage multipliers into account...
Fuck now I want to play TQ again.
there's norhing wrong with shields if your going for a defensive soldier. but soldier does well with either snb, dual wield, or 2 handed.
I have a warder with the full dawnbreaker set and it thunderwrecks everything while I tank 5 heroes without even seeing my life drop
Id be fine with farming ultimate if it actually had a increased rate of legendaries, but it sure as hell doesn't seem like it
if anything I get way less epics/legendaries than I do on elite
Anyone know how to play as an AAR arcanist? The mana cost is a fucking joke compared to the laughable damage it does.
715 energy cost
100 energy regen
skill energy cost 20%
My lightning shaman does the same damage with a single totem and I've only got shop gear on him.
Wonky as fuck resistances. (some are 0%, others 74%) And sadly Conjurer end-game looks mediocre. Every other build types have beautiful sets and matching pieces.
What a load of goat shit - why did I even pick soldier with Demo.
That guy is already dealing nearly as much damage with just those items with the same points spent, but in arcanist instead of soldier.
Its not like Soldier offers anything superior over arcanist ...
Man I mad.
Champion of Ultos/Empyrion in the house.
sure, it's the helm from the Justicar Armor set.
>dat aether and chaos resists
I know they suck mucho dicks. im 3k away from revered in black legion, and then I can buy the 7 Aether/7Chaos resist armor augment to fix that.
>run speed is capped
for what purpose, d3 all over again
AHHHHH everything is not ok, my shared stash tabs are all gone even the stuff i had inside them... that was like a years worth of mats farmed and gone.
do i keep playing or just give up, i really feel like giving up now. im fucking hurting...
i turned it off a few days before B30 got released because people were saying it fixed some FPS issues, which it did for me, so i kept it that way.
im just upset that i was happy for once, feeling like everything worked out when shit hit the fan.
but then i ran into a shrine that needed Purified salt and i was all "shit man, i got some of those in my stash brb, shrine" opened my stash to find i had items in my player stash but not my Shared stash, which i kept all my components in, and thats when my heart sank and i just lost all will.
if you turned it off, the older files may still be in the old location. it's worth a look, you can always fetch the old transfer stash file and copy it to the new location. you could at least get most of our transfer stash stuff back.
>le DPS tooltip warriors :^)
If there was a skill that AoE'd the entire screen with no cooldown, no energy cost, the initial impact damage was 1 with a cast speed of 1/s but every enemy that got hit received a 999999999 DPS DoT you'd still be all
>m-muh dps muthafucka
>le 1 dps
yep, before savagery charges. its 10k with charges.
that excludes 86% damage reflect daamge,
3k-16k lightining retaliation damager per hit
3 different shock novas that do 5k per hit each when im hit/block
argon's hammer which hits enemies around me for 3.5-4k.
it's pretty awesome actually
>try out new cool character concept with neat idea for gear
>stack OA to high heavens with all possible items and devotions
Every single time. Fuck this game. OA/DA is fucking awful and Olerons Rage/Inner Focus need to get blasted.
>TQ had fewer item slots, so legendaries actually could give both damage and resists
>Shields granted literally every resistance and there were no pure damage ones
>Fewer resistances made it much easier to manage too
>GD introduces fucking pants and shoulderguards for no fucking reason
>150 different resistances make it lucky if your piece of armor has three different ones
>Only one legendary shield provides fucking resistances other than physical/pierce
>"we cant design items for shit so have some augments to offset us being idiots :^)"
It's fucking gay and feels so samey when you stack OA for every kind of character, except a pet conjuror, in which case you stack pet OA.
OA = Offensive Ability is the stat that determines your hit and crit chance. It is the primary damage attribute for everyone as being able to hit takes precadence over all the other damage stats . DA is the defensive version of that.
Lol. It took us years convince them to make components stack, and the only reason they did it is because the main designer finally played the game for himself and saw how shitty it was. Good luck getting those people to listen to you, especially when you'll be dogpiled by the "it's their game, Crate knows best what they are doing!!" idiots.
lol making components stack was one the worst latest ideas
instead of leaving one of the better aspects of random items (in this case completion bonuses) they just fuck it all up and make yet another shit layer of a build that everyone does the exact same fucking way (like OA right now)
maybe allow players to pick what prefix/affix they want in crafting, huh? remove rng fro this fucking game completely? or just hook up GD defiler to character menu so you can edit your items as you wish? fucking shit some people shouldnt be allowed to play games
>lol making components stack was one the worst latest ideas
Completely disagree. Feels so much more polished now when they don't take up the space in all of your bags, and you don't have to spend a minute looking over their bonuses before you choose which one to craft with. Not to mention the nine times of ten that you complete a component and get a shitty bonus.
>inb4 muh dumb down
Could someone explain to me what makes soldier and arcanist so good? Not used to these kinds of games. Just lost my first character on hardcore and now I just want one character to play trough this once. A cookie cutter build.
It's mostly they have passives up the ass that are good for literally every build. +HP, +physique, +OA, +spirit. Soldier has some nice abilities like squad tactics and war cry, arcanist has maiven's, Iskandra's and flash freeze.
Basically they make for good secondary classes for pretty much everything.
>grimcalc still not updated
I don't know why I want it. Has the meta even changed at all?
How hard would it be for me to begin playing this game on Hardcore? I really loved playing hardcore runs in D2/TL ect, but I'm curious how easy it is to get up and running with a new character in this game comparatively.
I'm rolling one in multi right now and it works pretty well. Low level, but I'm doing literally 10x more damage than my 2h soldier buddy while being more survivable too using self founds.
the only things I've died to so far is standing in poison, it's not like PoE where even in normal you have to learn about all the minibosses that can kick your ass if you don't know going in what element to have resists for
You're going to want something for AoE crowd clear, preferbaly more than upheaval. Wind devils, storm totems, even just the tsnuami devotion bound to savagery, but definetely get something for trash clears.
They should just separate crit and OA entirely. They obviously can't balance hit and crit chance with it being one stat. If they separated them, they could balance crit without fucking everyone else.
>2h weapon faction augments give less stats than two 1h augments do
Why. Not to mention that dual wielders and sword & boarders have the flexibility of mix n' matching.
Haven't played much since Arcanist was first released and been away for a few months so I missed all the content-complete hype. Glad to see these threads are still around.
Anyway, what's a fun, straight-forward build to go with to get back into the game? I assume sword-and-board and rifles are still low damage trash? Also is the general consensus still to just dump into Physique and make up for cunning/spirit with gear and talent points?
>I assume sword-and-board and rifles are still low damage trash?
lol no. Tanky characters can do a shitload of damage with devotion procs and retaliation on top of their normal attacks. Not as much as the most DPS guys, but it adds up. And what they lose in DPS they make up with their staying power. They don't need to back away for anyone, just keep smacking at that fucker. High DPS is nice but only when you can apply it.
Rifle/Crossbows can now be used to cast chain lightning with the Shaman's Primal Strike, so Crate is fixing on making them more appealing.
> Also is the general consensus still to just dump into Physique and make up for cunning/spirit with gear and talent points?
Not possible anymore if you want to equip them legendaries. Crate is even upping the stat reqs on some items which has cockblocked other people.
I just put 5 points into each stat equally in a rotation, although I'll put more/less of phys and spirit depending if it's a caster or melee guy. I'm less anal about filing out my DPS to be perfection and this way I get to equip the items I feel I need. I also don't have surprise rude awakenings where I login with my character after a new build goes live only to realize that I'm suddenly missing out 40 spirit on an off hand item I sorely needed and there's nothing I can do about it anymore because I'm already lvl 85.
