2nd for Based Zhao Yun
That explained why he felt a little weak. Han Dang is a basic character that works normally, and probably why I was eager to play as him again. Veterans proving once again that a simple moveset does the job just as good, if not better.
>Associating based JYAMADA with that obnoxious swill
Off with your head.
Pang Defag read the filename
Yes mah nigga
fuck off back to kanto you fucking faggots
They never left kanto anyway cus they are shit
>*disappears behind you unsheaths katana* nothing personnel kid
Reddit is for you.
>Is this the one that people said is good for kind of roleplaying?
Yep, there's quests to do and schools where you can train your stats. You can befriend other officers and ask them to teach you skills etc.
best ost too imo
Not that guy, but you got me curious now, since the only ROTK I played is XI.
Not a bad one from what I played too, mind. The combat's pretty fun, the management is neat, and the debates are cool as fuck. Not very deep admittedly, but insulting some fucker from atope a pillar rising atop the cloud until it crumbles under his feet and he accepts to join your cause will never get boring.
I'd try it out if I were you. Roaming around china dueling random dudes looking for a lord to server is pretty comfy.
The battles in X are vastly different to XI as well. If I remember correctly XI's were on the main map and X's were a turn based system on a separate battle map.
I think I will. That does look comfy as fuck. And maybe one day, lord Cao Cao will notice me.
And yeah, XI's battles were on the main map. Just drive your blob into another blob, and see what happens. But at least it went kinda quickly.
I keep getting this error when trying to run ROTK X after completing installation:
Tried running as admin but nothing happened, though that error didn't show up.
Anyone have any insight?
Pic related, still my most wanted contender for next Musou game.
They've done Dragon Quest. Now it's time for that other RPG Square Enix owns.
the thing is her weapon is literally the most babby-tier weapon that ever existed in any game and I assume it was some token throw in for incompetent girl gamers. that she's such an annoying worthless moeblob with shit musous is the only reason she's not riding somewhere in the middle
>people actually like the retard that is Lu fucking Bu
>edgy nothin personnel wall of brick is on top Wu poll
>Wang fucking Yi above any Wei five generals
There is no hope left in this fucking thread
Although, I did like Zhou Tai in 4 and 5 at least, and not because he uses a katana.
I know we're all supposed to hate that gif, but fuck this would kick ass.
hating on the best girl
>the Lightning of DW
>anywhere near best
Not even Houko Kuwashima can save that shitstain.
>girl boner activated
so when we gettin' rotk otome?
Last year, I found a faulty DW Advance cart. I played a little of it today for the first time, and it wasn't bad. It froze up after my first fight, but I like it. Musou translated into 2D fairly well, which asks the question: Why not go that route for handheld Musous? You eliminate any hardware flaws for an overhead view and less enemies on-screen. It worked well enough in my book.
Ma Chao is at fault for her problems though. He went bullshit crazy because CAO CAO IS INVADING and killed her kids and husband, in DW lore at least.
Historically, yeah, she's just as shitty, but in DW she did nothing wrong.
DW8 kinda shat on a lot of cool characters. She's fine in 7XL and WO3
... SO IS EVERYONE. EVEN DA QIAO IS. Do you know what a WAR is?! People murdering a bunch of other people!
She is a liar in DW8 her comments don't even match with the events of the Novel which the game is loosely based on, her comments have no evidence of substance and are the mad rantings of a crazed lunatic
Ma Chao didn't go crazy because in DW lore his clan was massacred and in historical senses what happened made sense.
DW Xu Chu was always a lame character, but after watching TK2010, he outright pisses me off. I don't see why Koei 'rebooted' the series with 6, but made no effort to revamp or improve the characters, beyond weapons and Liu Bei's facial hair. Same for Wei Yan.
To be fair, if you take away his katana, Zhou Tai is just another loyal/silent bodyguard-type. Him ACTUALLY being an edgy fedora would give him more personality than what he has right now.
So, if FF Musou were to be a thing, who would be their Lu Bu? Garland? Gabranth with his helmet on? Gilgamesh?
I'm considering that at this point, but do you have to hook up a playstation controller to play?
I prefer simply using my mouse and the likes which is why I went for the PC version first.
You can use a mouse, but it seems like a pain in the ass to set up.
>finally unlock Cucco's Fury
>only viable "combo" is to mash the basic attack button forever and occassionally do a musou attack
It's like I'm really playing Dynasty Warriors 6
I had a lot of trouble having fun with Sengoku Basara 4 until I found Mogami.
Admittedly, I haven't played most of the characters yet, but I like to play characters that appeal to me historically. So far I've
>Fucking kill me levels of boredom
Who are some other fun characters?
He didn't seem to have any flash to him. I felt like his stance mechanic just let me switch between two equally boring movesets. Does he get more interesting after level 9 or so?
I played dragon quest heroes and samurai warriors.
These type of games suck hard, how can you enjoy them?
I admit i used to enjoy dynasty warrios back in the day but these mordern ones are generic and repetetive as fuck.
I see, i guess ill have to look up some videos to see how exactly it is.
I think even after dq heroes and samurai warrios sucked im still going to buy dynasty warriors 8. Those games always had a little bit more to keep it fun.
Honestly, it's been a long time since I last played SB4. Remembering back on it now, I guess he doesn't have much flashiness to him. He does get a counter Super where stronger with each use up to 3 times. Another is a throw, I think and his dice roll Super is impractical to use, but kinda flashy.
Just think of the genre as something you play in a short period of time after a tiring day, it'd be more fun and feel less repetitive that way. Helps that musou games tend to offer a lot of replayability.
Honestly, it sucks. He was my favorite character in SW4 because his artillery was so hype, and I was hoping he'd be super cool in SB4 because hes' a newcomer, but I guess they just added him for the fujo-bux.
Eh, I always liked him since I like his fighting style. I'm a sucker for them kicks. If he was just a straight up kung fu character that switched between kicks and punches, it would have been perfect (for me).
>Do you know what a WAR is?! People murdering a bunch of other people!
Yet you blame Ma Chao for murdering her familiy. The irony.
Anyone know if ROTK 13 is getting a chinese release around the same time as JP release?
If so, I'm gonna get it
and for what end? all Ma Chao achieved, all Shu achieved was more useless slaughter
You cant talk about justice when all you do is get your people killed because of your senseless ideals.
>tfw people will always remember her for her tits
>not for her lovely girl next door personality
I absolutely love Lianshi because my favorite character is Sun Quan. Her relationships with characters like SSX and Zhou Tai are so great, but they're really under done. I hope the next DW focuses on character relationships rather than taking the period as a series of events. Maybe SW4 style cutscenes would make it better.
It had great relationships, and thats actually how I know these characters actually interact with each other. I'd like it see Lianshi and Zhou Tai talking without Date Masamune busting in in the middle of things
The best fucking moveset I've played with in any of the musous I've played.
That doesn't mean we can't have that in a DW game. I really hate when people say things like this.
>You have this, be thankful!
>You already have X. blah blah
Not saying you're doing that, and not the original anon you replied to, but /v/ is notorious for doing this shit, as if something minuscule will do. If someone wants more of whatever, let them have it, especially if it can open up more gameplay opportunities.
>mfw I come online and read your chain of posts
Know that you have a friend, anon.
Kojuro is essentially slower and heavier-hitting Ishida, most people should be able to enjoy playing as both.
Also Naotora and Kasuga both play really nice, but I suppose the guy is playing vanilla?
It's hard to tell, but one of the blades seems to retract into the handle. Or he splits it and places one blade into the bottom of the other handle. In the actual gameplay whenever he switches one of the blades just seems to disappear so it's hard to tell really.
Lianshi's moveset is definitely better than the crossbow but I can't help but think about what's going to happen to that moveset (as well as Deng Ai's, Guan Suo's, Liu Chan's, and whoever else got their moves changed in 8E).
Also, I kind of liked the crossbow. You just need to stick Velocity on it and you're good to go. The musou attacks definitely sucked though.
The crossbow was a good weapon choice for her because realistically speaking that chest of hers would make it difficult to swing a weapon around.
>No one achieved anything but mindless slaughter
Yeah but only one faction was labeled as being the "good guys" and it was the one that was probably the worst of them all.
this fucking campaign
yuan shu split me in two while I am preoccupied with Gongsun Zan and his trio of fanfiction mary sues (guan, zhang, zhao)
evacuating the north and sending cao cao to attack gongsun's east with 30k while the main force marches on the west with 90k
>Nobunaga's Ambition Sphere of Influence
After beating the first two scenarios (first oneas Oda, second one as Dosan Saito) I decided to challenge myself in the "Struggle for Power" scenario.
I took Suzuki clan (Saika dudes).
And holy shit is this game intense when you are not allowed to snowball while your foes build forces.
The amount of crazy politics and daredevil shit I had to pull to carve myself a kingdom at every knock and cranny not being curbstomped by the Miyoshi or Mori was one ofthe hardest things I've ever played in a video game.
Yep. Some rare times the Sanada 10 appear as generics alongside Kunoichi in spite of that, but even then it's just as named units without any kind of unique dialogue or story role.
I think the biggest role one of them have gotten in a game with Kunoichi is Sarutobi Sasuke being the generic replacement character for Ryu Hayabusa in Warriors Orochi 3, which means that if you play with Ryu in a stage with an npc Ryu, Sasuke generally pops up taking npc Ryu's story role.
So I just got Samurai Warriors 4-II and I must say I'm kinda disappointed in how the story isn't presented like in Dynasty warriors
I was hoping to learn some japanese history, but oh well
Vanilla 4 was probably better for that.
I still felt it was more disjointed than DW because there are so many regions and each region starts/ends at different times, instead of just focusing on 4 kingdoms that are easier to follow, but I still found it enjoyable and got the gist of what happened.
Is it just me or is this character completely underrated? He's almost always in rage, has invuln frames on ex1 that also fucks with block, his air musou is still alright
he's at least better than bao sanniang tbqh family
Just got DW8 Empires. How many endless orgasms am I in for?
>tiers/powerlevels in musou games
what's the point? all characters are capable of killing by the thousands without problem. The only difference that matters is personal preferences
I would like to replay RTK9 too, but the controls are cancer. why the fuck can't you use the keyboard to move around the map?
And why isn't the movement continuous?
Yeah, picking different minor clans on maximum difficulty on different scenarios can make the game interesting and change the dynamics a lot (although the best strategy with really shitty clans is always starting diplomacy as soon as you can with everyone around you except the moron you want to conquer).
Too bad it's kinda the same for everyone once you've got really big (the only thing changing is how big your enemy also are, which may lead to endless streams of troops going on for years between two major factions).
>I was hoping to learn some japanese history
SW4-II handling of the story is just retarded (along with SW1-3), don't even bother.
SW4 is a bit better, but not by much, unlike DW it changes the roles and events of many characters to tell the story.
Sengoku Jidai has hundreds of clans and thousands of characters and events you need to know to fully understand it and it's just impossible with a musou.
SoI stories on the other hand are really good, but you either play following a guide to get them or have fun with game.
>SoI stories on the other hand are really good, but you either play following a guide to get them or have fun with game.
fuck the story then, I'll just create a blonde waifu and skip the cutscenes
by the way, is it me or is this game significantly harder than other musous?
When DW8 and XL came out there were a lot of post about how broken he was.
I honestly think he's overrated.
Sure, you can build up gauges like nothing, but the damage of his weapon is far from great on nightmare, there are way better characters that can kill the enemies a lot faster by making use of attributes damage.
DW8E really sucks.
Role playing is impossible since nothing has any depth or even try to make any sense.
The strategy part is completely irrelevant.
Quests suck (yeah, stealth in a musou game, what could go wrong?) and are the very definition of repetitive.
Battles are, again, repetitive and completely uninteresting like no other musou (which really means something).
Grinding titles sucks, they make you act like a retard wasting hours on making the most pointless actions over and over again when you could conquer China in half an hour by either aiming at the enemies capital or pressing the intimidate button until everyone surrenders without a fight.
>by the way, is it me or is this game significantly harder than other musous?
AI is a little more reactive than usual, but the characters' skills you can use are broken, the game isn't much of challenge even on maximum difficulty with a medium level character and weapon.
Fuck grinding for tomes though, after spending something half a million of them to max ten characters I started cheating.
It was either that or doing the speed trial ten thousand time.
>still piss easy compared to the PS2 games.
I remember playing DW2 and finishing it with all the characters
oh boy, that sure was repetitive, with the trick being just spamming c4 with everyone
I enjoyed 8 more
Almost done making Adolf Hitler, can I get second opinions on whether or not this is all a waste of time?
>mfw Hitler's weapon is the brush
Could I also get moveset recommendations? Gave him Li Dian's fire/lightning musous.
DW8E is an okay game if you think of it as a stand alone game, but if you already have experience with simlar games like other Empires or ROTK, then 8E really feel lifeless and empty. It's still have the fun factor just because it's a musou game though.
Got bored with DW8E easily but I play RTK mostly, so no wonder.
I still prefer 9 with PK over 11. The fact that you cannot control your units during the battle phase and the formations make it very appealing for some reason.
I thought DW5E was completely lifeless, and SW2E has aged worse than a lot of other Musou games. I thought 6E was really bland too.
8E just has more stuff for me to see and do, and it has a more prominent personal element. My biggest complaint is just how many things are literally RNG.
To each his own, I guess. SW2E was my favorite for the longest time because of all the character events in it. DW5E also has those but a lot less, so it's a little worse.
DW8E only has generic lines, so that's probably why I think that it's so lifeless.
I'm a few months (game-time) in DW8XL playing as Adolf Hitler, and got a few officers.
Zhuge Liang asks if he can present a strategy, and then asked if I would be his sworn sibling.
Liu Bei and friends were supporting the bandits literally every single quest, so I put the friendship ring on Zhuge Liang so he wouldn't ever help them.
Was planning on proposing to Lianshi somehow but ended up getting a confession from Da Qiao instead. What do?
last bump of the day, off to bed
someone save the thread
DW8E's later patch added some cut dialogue from DW7E, like spouse/sworn brother battle dialogue. I think the only thing it's missing in the end are the different levels of revenge dialogue from DW7E, where you could get any of the character screaming for your blood upon seeing your character at the highest level.
Although those are still generic, rather than special events or something.

They can just never feature them together in the story mode. Liu Shan doesn't even appear alongside Liu Bei outside of What Ifs, so it wouldn't be that odd.
Make Lu Kang appear in the later years and then maybe reference his off screen father a couple of times before he dies, also off screen. Or just avoid all that and make him only pop up after Lu Xun's death.
Lads, I just beat every mission in DW8, is pic related a good choice for my next game?
Well then SoI could be a good choice. The gameplay is somewhat watered down compared to previous NA games, but is still very entertaining, just don't expect the Total War level of gameplay and you're good.
SoI offer a lot of clans all over Japan to play, but only the major clans (Oda, Takeda, Uesugi, etc) offer quests for you to do to follow a storyline. You can either turn the quest off/ignore them during the playthrough and go full sandbox.
Personally, I think the story the game offers is really good, especially the Oda and Toyotomi's, though there are still some meh ones obviously (I'm looking at you, Chosokabe). Some characters also have rather interesting characterization to them, like how the game portray Hideyoshi as slowly going insane in his later events.
>only the major clans (Oda, Takeda, Uesugi, etc) offer quests for you to do to follow a storyline
Uragami, Miyoshi, Kuroda, Amago, Satake, Date, Azai, Nanbu, Sanada etc. all have quests too.
Actually, some of the most cool stories are about minor clans.
Only cutscenes are voiced (along with generic game lines like "order received", "let's begin the council" and so on), regular events are just text.
English dub covers everything that is voiced in the Japanese one (you are free to switch between them anyway).
its always been there
In 11 people could get injured if they lost a debate too hard.
In other news, playing Alliance vs the Big Dong scenario. Though the alliance never materialized, managed to inflict several defeats on the Dong with CaoCao/ChenGong and Xiahous/LiDian/Cao Ren broteams, Took Luoyang too.
Problem is that Zhang Liao defends Tong Gate on the road to Chang'An and Yuan Shu is attacking me. I could possibly take over Yuan Shu and recruit his officers but that would open a second front against Dong Zhuo (who has more officers than I do) and give me a border with Liu Biao.
Tao Qian is also becoming stronger in the east. Wat do
So how is everyone gonna get their hands on ROTK 13? Torrenting? buying?
and if no english at release, then translating it kanji by kanji (I know the other alphabets) and waiting for fan translation
RTK12 got several translations within 2 weeks of release, done by people from all over the world into english
Never underestimate rotk autism among fans
Where are you buying it from?
Is there gonna be an initial release in chinese?
No, they need to keep the game PG-13.
Also, it's Dynasty Warriors so it will always show Guan Yu as MOST HONORABLE GOD OF WAR and have him go out as such.
I thought that scene was supposed to be pretty stupid? The looks Zhao and Chunhua gave them as if they seemed to indicate that they were tired of that shit.
>Jan 17, 2016
>Have to wait a whole month and some days for SW4e
Raoh does the same thing in Hokuto no Ken when he dies. There's got to be some literary source for it.
See, that is a bad ass looking character model. Why can't we have more of that, and less of this trash?
That's why I always wanted more ROTK/NA skins in DW.SW like pic related
Nigga, Yuan got shot in the heart with an arrow, and Jian in the back. You mean they can't show him getting stabbed off-screen?
Because at this point, they need to sell their games. It's why the Siege Spear, Bao Shitstain, Lucy Bu and the magical Poolstick are a thing.
last bump of the day
Jiang Wei will carry my will on
Playing as Adolf Hitler unifying China in Empires is becoming old, even if I'm assisted by Goebbels and Goering. How can I make the most of this game to make things less repetitive? Playing as an officer seems to allow me more freedom but less influence, while I think I've gotten the gist of playing as a ruler.
Huh. I went about my first playthrough with Hitler as a prudent and benevolent ruler as he was in his prime... But maybe he should be more human in the subsequent playthroughs! Is it possible for me to start a game as a vagabond unit - as in, with Goebbels/Goering but not as a ruler? I'm thinking of his rise among the working class (maybe the yellow turbans?) and his growing discontent about civilian repression...
Liu Bei and friends constantly showed up helping bandits and wolves(??) last playthrough, so maybe Hitler would have been against the Han Dynasty, and its self-declared successors? Maybe the goal of this game is not to unify China, but to better understand Hitler and myself, thanks anon.
>tfw recruiting/releasing/executing minor officers and you have no idea who they are
typically how long are these game? like the main storyline without counting extra stuff?I'm new to musou games so i just wanna fun game to hit shit and looking at videos it rights up my ally
Depend on the game. If you're playing the game with character-based story mode, then each story typically take about 2 hours to finish, then just multiply that to the number of playable characters. If you're playing a game with faction-based story mode, then it could take somewhere between 10 to 15 hours per faction (I haven't played SW4 yet, but I heard that some faction's story is really short there).
SWC3 and WO3 are exceptions as they feature only 1 linear story if you don't count the extra stuff. SWC3 lasts about 20 hours, while WO3 lasts more than 40 hours.
This is the face of the man who taught us the word "Benevolence"
Did you get best girl, mein fuhrer?
thank you anons! I decided to pick it up and I'm enjoying it so far
I just play DW but don't partake in retarded discussion.
samurai warriors made me bi stupid sexy ranmaru
Boys love warriors? boys do love warriors though
My Vita keeps crashing when I try to remove elements from weapons in SWC3. It's happened three times in a row now. I've Googled around but I can't find a fix.
Is there something I can do about this?
Here's real discussion. Is this the greatest joke of ancient China?
What if the next NA/RotK uses Musou character artworks
So which officer you will choose to start with when you received your copy of RoTK13?
For me it would be either Jiang Wei or Zang Hong (NEW!!)
Marquis taste my brother
That or probably Guan Yu or zhao yun for me in officer mode
restore the Han dynasty
Wu literally doesn't have any decent officers
Zhu Ran literally died from one hit from Zhao Yun, Pan Zhang, Ma Zhong are probably the next to become Musou characters but they are literally whus
Atleast people like Zhang Yi and Wang Ping and Liao Hua was fucking relevant for ages
Last bump of the night lads
May Jiang Wei carry on my will
I'd probably start with Ling Tong or Jian Yong, if possible. Two of the basest niggas in the TK period for me.
Wu has very high potential for story focus though--Koei just need to unclench their balls. I seriously want a late Wu story, and there's so many characters and events/debacles that it could cover. I WANT depressing shit, and hell, we'd still get waifus out of it anyway.
I think aside from DW8XLCE and WO3U if you haven't already played it, the rest of the choices are largely personal preference. SW4 if you want the most casualized Musou experience, One Piece PW3 if you want the best gameplay to date, DQH if you want an action RPG with a dash of Musou.
Meaning it's an honor to keep this thread alive, and to talk with all of you about the games that Koei-Tecmo made.
Koei desu no, wakatteru~
>no hypothetical where Liu Biao's forces do battle with Cao Cao's forces
>no Yuan Shao hypothetical route
>no invasion against Gongsun Zan's gigantic fortress
>no revenge invasion on Liu Bei for the (almost?) deaths of Wen Chou/Yan Liang
>elimination of the poorfag barbarians in the west and in the south
>some reason to attack the Southlands I guess
>no nobility to uphold the Han
You could easily get Yuan Shao/Shu, Wen Chou/Yan Liang, Tian Feng and Friends (definitely enough to have its own category), Gongsun Zan and Family, and maybe Liu Biao and Sons if the next game treated nobility in its rightful manner.
>hypothetical is [Execute Tian Feng Y/N]
which leads to
>prevent Xu You from reaching Cao Cao's forces
and a bunch of other shit that Tian Feng advised that I can't remember at this hour.
Maybe have reconciling with Yuan Shu be a prerequisite for him to appear as reinforcements or something.
I highly doubt they would add that many new Other characters. At most we'll probably get 2 or 3 and they'll be spread amongst the current Other factions.
I have very little hope of Other getting any attention. Probably more waifus that show up for a hot minute then melt away into the background.
>defecting from Liu Zhang
i do the same thing and try to snipe dudes like Zhang Ren
>you will never be a lord in china and draw girls day after day
>You'll never be a glorious general slaying peasants by day and banging handmaidens by night
>if any of us were alive during that time we'd be nameless foot soldiers or jobber generals
speak for yourself m8, I outlift 90% of chinks on the planet
I like doing that against Yuan Shu in rtk 10. Become prefect, ignore orders, draw officers to me then revolt.
Better direction, more focused writing, consistent character development, better pacing, less glossing over of events and more going into detail, and much better acting, to name some reasons. Basically DW8's story suffered because the resources had to be split between the historical and hypothetical routes, and that in itself caused its own issues with continuity and writing.
When people say the story is better in DW7, it's because of the superior presentation of the story, and not necessarily the actual story *mode* itself. Gameplay-wise, DW8 wins in almost every area.
Pick Cao Cao, Liu Bei or Sun Quan and fire any officer that doesn't belong to the faction you picked. Your goal is to recruit every officer from the faction you picked.
