Is CoD4 worth getting on PC? Looked at the server list the other day and a lot of them are 16v16 and shit, will I have any issue wanting to find a regular vanilla 6v6 or is that shit hard to come by

I think we're nearing the end. But don't be sad. Be proud of how far we've taken this thread. Advanced Warfare General lasted like, 3 weeks. Ghosts maybe 2 months. We've gotten into Black Ops 2 General. That said, I miss Black Ops 2. It's in a real competition with MW2 as runner up to COD4.
I got super salty about MW2 and stopped playing after I got my first 25 kill streak, but the match ended as soon as I pressed the clacker.
It was just sitting there in my hand as it faded to the final kill cam
I liked Blops2, but never had a good connection. 3 runs almost flawlessly for me, even amidst everyone freaking about 400ms pings and shit. I haven't had that, or almost anything, happen.
My problem is hit detection every now and then.
it's a one hit kill just under 6m
to get a one shot at 6-8 meter all pellets have to connect which is almost impossible
after that it's always a two shot kill
i'm really not a fan of the base damage change "to make shotguns more reliable".
They could've implemented it much better or just scrap it and don't try fix what's not broken
The ADS making the shotgun spread tighter is really retarded.
Shotguns are a weird one to balance but I just think needing to ADS to make them more effective is dumb, the only thing it ultimately changes is that when you start shooting you keep twitch pressing your ADS key each time you take a shot. It doesn't change your playstyle or anything of the sort, it's just another inconvenience on top of the fact you're using a limited range weapon in a game full of railguns.
Is there anywhere I can find high-res images of at least some of the available calling cards? I can't find anything. It's to the point where I'm tempted to see if I can find an xbone capture card so I can just screenshot them in-game.

The one thing I miss is the AR-LMG hybrid each game had. They were never popular, but I always liked them. The HAMR was my fucking jam in Black Ops 2.

That feature was introduced in MW3 I think. I remember back in MW2, the spread was identical whether you ADS or not.
I guess they just did it to make sure ADS with a shotgun wasn't an entirely pointless action. Maybe also so that shotguns would have to abide by the same rules as all the other guns in the game. And hey, they helped balance it out by giving the shotguns fast movement speed, fast ADS time, and fast movement while ADS, even without quickdraw or stock, so that a no-attachments shotgun is a pretty solid weapon. Even in Hardcore, the semi-auto and full-auto shotguns manage to find a niche.
A shotgun class really has to be played differently than an AR class, you can't expect to just run out in the open. You gotta find a building you like and lock it down, not camping, just patrolling.

Dude everytime i get a very high scorestreaks called in (raps, GI Unit, wraith) which is very rare considering i dont get alot of killstreaks, the enemy team somehow always power cores my shit.

Anything above 1.00 K/D means they're likely to at least keep you and your opponent's score even, and is also slightly above average.
Average K/D is about .9
Is it wrong for me to use Awareness as a way to hear enemy positions and place myself where they'll run to just so I kill them without being touched? The shit is like a always-on UAV and no one uses dead silence in regular modes

Well since I did some knife-only classes I've learned how to go across every map without double jumping, the only time I double jump if it's a emergency or a situation where I know I can take the guy.
Dead silence is just good for countering other players like myself who hear for their opponents

They really ought to adjust Awareness so that it counters Dead Silence by letting you hear them slightly. Maybe it could let you hear them at the "default" level, as if neither you nor them were running those perks.

Most everyone is medium 200's, tons of people around 180 even, they end up being campers with 130-180 spm and 0.8 k/d's.
I almost never see anyone with k/d's over 1.2.

It does, it cancels DS out as if they had normal footsteps and you weren't wearing Awareness.

Kuda & Razorback are based. Weevil ain't bad either.
Stock is THE definitive Hardcore loadout accessory. Anyone without it is going to get their shit pushed in by anyone with it. I put it on everything: SMGs, ARs, shotguns, LMGs, I'd put it on the Drakon if I could get it to level 12.

That's another thing BO2 did better. Being able to pulse the trigger with the Chicom CQB to make it burst so fast it was basically more accurate full-auto, oh, it was glorious.
Agreed. Auto-burst doesn't even really make sense, it just creates a window of opportunity (however small) for your opponent.

Oh, one more thing: what scorestreaks do you run? UAV-Care Package-Dart for me. Dart is fantastic.

Maybe if you suck with it. I fly high and patrol the middle. Its exactly because its small that you can get your 2-3 kills +1 with the crash. You just need to know at what side they spawned and smartly go with it.

Well of course, but there's so many options. M8A7, L-CAR 9, Dead Silence, Engineer, Ghost. Maybe even Black Hat.
Never got much use out of Gung Ho, but mostly agreed, the other 5 in Tier 3 are prime choices. Can't think of a single reason to run a loadout without a tier 3 perk or two.
HC TDM is about all I play because none of my friends are usually on at the same time.

Same, but Counter UAV, too. People tend to not shoot shit down and just run Ghost, so it's extra points, keeps your Scorestreak point cap low to restart it fast, and for those that bring up the menu to look at the map, they can't anymore.
I could probably get high Scorestreaks, but I don't want to try consistently as it would just lower the points I have every match. I like getting tons of kills when it happens, though, but less points than kills always looks like shit to me.

I use 3/6 for Perk 2, and all but Blast Suppressor (although I think it's very useful, but prefer others more since you can run/climb everwhere instead of boosting, people are just impatient) for Tier 3.

I find that surviving long enough to get those streaks is rare enough that it's better to just get them from Care Packages. That said, the GI Unit is kickass.

Sometimes I run Scythe, just because it SHREDS scorestreaks. UAVs, Wraiths, you name it; they're scrap metal in seconds.

I get RAPS almost every other match, especially when I have Engineer on. The drop rate on that seems to have gone down though.
The drop rate for Guardians, however, is at an all-time high as I get one every 2 Care Packages at least, I'd say 75%.

Still grinding Hero attire, but if I were to use whatever I wanted for kills, Vision Pulse for sure. War Machine gets me kicked and I kill myself every single use, HIVE seems worthless to me. Even when I shoot it in high traffic areas, people seem to avoid them or I die as I leave that room.
Prophets Tempest 1-shots almost every Scorestreak. I think it does shit like RAPS deploy ship in 2 shots.

I use it all the time and have only been kicked once. You just have to shoot carefully, and try to be aware of where teammates are. It hipfires well. Very nice for clearing a small room like that obnoxious computer room on Combine.
I end up TKing much more with frags or semtexes (and one poor sap I beaned with a flashbang) than with the War Machine.

It's a good way to make sure every opponent is forced to spend a tier 3 perk slot on Engineer, since Hardwired doesn't protect against it. It's only any good on small maps though. I don't use it though, just because of how much I hate the people who do.
I love it when an opponent runs Rejack, it's an extra free kill.

The HVK-30 is certainly a good AR, arguably one of the best, but for short-mid range I always use SMGs and for long-range I use a Dingo w/ Recon, and with the way the Stock has apparently been nerfed for ARs, the HVK's been gathering dust for a while now.
I don't play Core nearly enough to justify the Vesper. The next time I play Core I'll probably spend the whole time using the Argus, Dredge, M8, or Dingo. I already use 3 different SMGs for HC.
I tried Tracker briefly and it just didn't seem to help much, since the footprints vanish so fast.
God, why is the Gorgon so shit? It's such a good-looking LMG, but that firerate makes it unusable whether you're in Core or Hardcore.

It's Nuketown, the gun. Play any OBJ mode on it, control the middle, and change sightlines every 2-3 kills. I can barley go on a killstreak but doing this gets me something like 30-5 every time I do it, boring but effective.
One more question for you before I go, Hardcore-bro: is there any point to the Knife? In the few times I've managed to get a kill with it, it didn't seem to have more range than fists or just smacking them with the gun. Movement speed, maybe?

It's a guaranteed 1-hit kill over regular melees, but you also have to have it equipped. It's the same run speed as fists/pistols/smg's I believe.
I don't know why, unless you just really like it, people use knives at all. It's fun for S&D and laying around though, but I prefer playing normally still.

I gave up on BO1 multiplayer pretty quick. Some of the worst weapon balance I've ever seen, and of course there was Second Chance -- and this is coming from one of the faggots who ran Martyrdom in MW2.

Not sure how well it works in Core, but in HC I have found that they can actually break the armor with a modest amount of gunfire. It helps a little bit, but that duration is just so short.

One thing that MW3 deserves credit for: the death mic. Hearing whoever you just killed lose their shit is pretty satisfying, and it'll also let you know if their teammates have been alerted to your location.

I've noticed this, too. I still think it's a glitch or maybe your meter runs out faster when you're being shot at, like weapons when you use them.

No. It will absorb maybe 3-5 bullets before deactivating. It's good for winning exactly ONE encounter before it depletes, and that's onyl if they don't headshot you.
It's miserably underpowered.
It's even worse on Core because ttk is worse so they survive long enough to feed you more bullets. In HC you can at least get the drop on peop[le and maybe kill 2-3 because of fast ttk. In HC, Kinetic Armor makes you 150-200% more durable. In core it's more like 50%.

There's also a Battery+Reaper dialogue bit where Battery speculates somebody is controlling Reaper. Always felt kinda self aware and meta.
Small maps/low ttk is what's killing CoD and turning it into an arena shooter though. I'm not asking for Battlefield, I'll just go play that if i want, but CoD has a certain charm to it but year after year it just keeps losing it.

The more CoD chases the arena shooter genre, the better. That influence is exactly why BO3 is so great. This was the one thing that made Ghosts multiplayer utterly unplayable.
It got to a point where, after another crushing loss, the other team mocked me for NOT camping. And it's true, all of them just lay prone in different spots with trophy systems & other placed equipment laying around them. TDM matches *always* had their timers run out before the score limit was reached. Fuck it was so awful.

I just want a FoV slider. I hated the FoV on Destiny, it was like my camera was 30 feet in front of me but I had the longest arms in the world since I could still see my gun.

Play a different gametype, like CTF or Kill Confirmed
Use some new weapons/specialists so you get all those bonuses for the early unlocks for them
Use equipment more often so you have a chance at getting all those juicy challenges
Use low-end scorestreaks for the bonuses you get from them
Stay to the end for the match completion bonus, and so you don't rack up losses from leaving early
Play with friends so you don't have to deal with a bunch of shitters feeding kills & scorestreaks to the other team
Check through your challenges progress to see if there's anything that's close to being completed that you can focus on for the resulting XP reward

Engineer isn't a niche counter, it's for raping enemy equipment and streaks and then rerolling your UAV for a RAPS at the start of the next round
The only reason everyone doesn't use engineer is because sound whoring and hung hoe share a perk slot, it's the best it's ever been because engineer/sitrep has never highlighted HCXDs and UAVs before

bugon fringe. If you go over by the pickup truck over by where the second hardpoint location (literally the truck is in the middle of it) and go prone in the back of the truck you hide right inside it. Not sure if you can get killed by explosives but im sure as hell youre immune to bullet damage.

I just don't think cod is on a very good path. I just wanted some casual fun like the older games, I got a lackluster weapon selection with boring perks and map design akin to a MOBA.

Hard Wired does the most out of any Perk, protecting you from all kinds of fuck-yous enemies will try to throw, and allows you to just sprint through Trip Mines and Shock Charges not giving a fuck.
Engineer helps you avoid that equipment too, but also reveals those fucking obnoxious HIVE nests, and will basically give you a heads-up warning of where enemies have set up camp, and then you can combine it with Black Hat to kill them with their own equipment. It also warns you of approaching HC-XDs. Seriously, it's crazy good. I can't believe they made it even better than it was in BO2.
Ghost is crucial to any stealth class, alongside the "sound whore" Dead Silence & Blast Suppressor. Overclock is good if you chose a Specialist weapon that's actually useful.
Gung Ho is only good if you intend to be shooting while sprinting, which is cool and all, but plenty of loadouts will see no use of that. It's not bad, it's just not amazing.
Fast Hands is really only for correcting your own failures to react appropriately if you're not using Gung Ho, unless for some reason you are very dependent on faster weapon switching.
Flak Jacket and Tac Mask are for Hardpoint players, and if you seriously consider those good but Hard Wired a waste, I don't know what the fuck you're smoking.
Wish I could see how those camos looked so I can find out if they're even worth grinding for. 100 headshots per gun, yeah fucking right. Diamond pistols in BO2 took I think around 100 hours to do.

Laser Sight and ADS is pointless because pellets are not the main source of damage
Long Barrel is pointless on the KRM/Argus and only somewhat worth it on the brecci/haymaker
Silencer isn't as bad as you'd think for the brecci/haymaker
fast & ext. mag is really all you need on a shotgun, for the Argus it's a sight, quickdraw and stock

It's OHKs for the Drakon, if that's what you mean. Piss easy in Hardcore, just go to Infection and play the sightlines surrounding that big floating rock. It's an OHK even to the foot. I'm shit at the game, but playing Infection with the Drakon I've got 30+ kills in HCTDM.

Holy hell, after getting diamond for snipers and playing solely as Outrider, and just now switching to shotguns and playing as Ruin using Overdrive I'm having the time of my life. I've never been accused of cheating as much as I have now.

Outrider is an all around shit specialist. Console or PC? Sniper rifles are nearly useless on console due to lack of auto aim (which I approve of. fuck no scoping). Shotguns are fun af though they suck on most maps.

it's very good. You can move around the map quickly and without drawing attention. A common setup is Blast Suppressor with Perk Greed 3 to take Dead Silence for full stealth sanic mode.

More frustratingly, you can't make any progress on challenges locked behind 1st Prestige until you've actually prestiged, even if you would have completed them several times over in that time.
I have come to the conclusion that Tempest is the absolute worst piece of shit in the game when it comes to Specialist weapons and killing (not shooting down UAV's and shit).
I played probably 10 matches of Chaos Moshpit and still don't have my 40 kills. I think I was at 36. Double kills will be the ender for me. I had Rejack done in 2 matches for fucks sake.

I tried to make a clip showing some effective use of Engineer, and when recording the clip in 1st person, the effect of Engineer applies, but when viewing the recorded clip, there's no red highlights through the walls and it ends up looking like I just got lucky. Any way to fix that?

Kinetic Armor reduces all bullet damage to the body down to 1. Headshots are still as effective. It's a terrible specialist for kill based modes and should be used almost exclusively for demolition and search (it's alright for dom as well).

Slap on Long Barrel and maybe Rapid Fire if you play Core a lot, it's extremely good. You can one burst people across the map like on Infection.
It comes out a bit too slow to really be effective, they should up the speed a bit. The Semtex is so quick, it should be close to that.
