HoH is Hall of Heroes, a monthly event where you get to farm for pieces of natural 4* units.

That's the odd thing, I know all too well about their reputation in /mbgg/, but it must have been a different internal team handling SW. Some of the most universally-useful units are farmable and are regularly used by top rankers to clear endgame content.

The tradeoff for good things being farmable, of course, is that you have to farm HARD. The vast majority of a unit's stats comes from runes, and everyone's gotta farm for them. You can buy a random draw at a high-tier rune, but they're expensive as hell and have purchase limits, so even hyperwhales have to farm like the rest of us. Farming the final floors of the rune dungeons is more a mid-late game goal than some endgame supermaxing thing.

There's also its infamous evolution system, where raising eg, a 3* unit to 4* requires feeding him 3 3* units, a 4* unit to 5* requires feeding him 4 4* units, so on and so forth. But the detractors always conveniently forget to mention that the evolution fodder can be anything, as long as it's currently at the correct star grade. Wanna raise that shitty 1* slime to 4* to become a evo fodder for your death knight? Go right ahead. XP is easy to get, and they throw free energy and double XP buffs at you like candy. And there's also rainbowmons, which come max level at various star grades, ready to evolve and become fodder for the next star grade. I get those all the time while farming for XP and runes. Hell, these days, due to various boosts, I'm bringing something to 6* (max star grade) roughly once every 2 weeks or so.

I've played this thing for almost a year now and have spent exactly $0, other than data charges from when I stupidly update the game multiple times a month while not on wi-fi and explode my cap.

Last time I played, the summoning rates for nat 4 & 5 are absolutely retarded. Some farmables are pretty great (Ramagos is a Ramagod for something farmable) but some of the stronger stuffs are only nat 4/5. Have they added other nat 5 worth fusioning for?

You can check it on the ranking page and reward page of the cup. It is like rank 1-10 got crystals and SR weapons, while point mileage can give you various reward, crystals, SR chara.
Dunno, haven't checked it yet. Maybe limit breaks is a better choice.

I hate the stamina cost for the hardest difficulty of the boss. My team isn't really set up to deal with it so I've been needing to try various things in hopes of a kill.

I nearly got her my last run which was running the first heavy blade instead of the water twin blade, so I think I might be able to pull it off the next time I get the stamina. I really wish I had gold I could blow leveling up these girls, if I had that it would probably be a pretty safe clear.

Is that mage a healer? If it's an attacker, you need to use her skill to interrupt the boss's counter and then your G.O.D attack a second time. That's how I win. Then again, my SR water wizard also heals me a bunch when attacking.

Every prereg account gives you roughly a 3% chance of pulling two of the highest rarity characters
(1/100)^2 x (99/100)^28 x 425[30c2] x 100) = 3.2%~
So i'd recommend making upwards of 35 reroll accounts to give you a good shot at getting two high rarity characters

Rates are arse and shit, but F2P friendly like >>128426920 mentioned. Loads of grinding, but loads of freebies to help it along, and systems that speed up the process more as you go along. And all those damned good farmable units as well. They're pretty generous with the IAP currency as well, and lots of low-effort-required methods to gain them as well. You get to draw a hell lot more, you just don't get the higher rarity stuff that often. A trend I've noticed is that being able to clear late-endgame content is more about having a wide roster to pick from than having 1 or 2 god units that can do everything. The bigger your toolbox, the easier you can build a team specifically made to counter what you have to face.

You get 2 free SRs, one of which is Kite, and 30 (out of 50 needed for a 10 roll) gems + a really good weapon for Kite
On the 6th day of consecutively playing, you get another free SR.

Doing endgame content while spending no money is far easier. Making do with what you have or what you can farm for is a far stronger theme. Essentials are farmable. Something like half of the higher rarity stuff don't provide that much more than farmable stuff other than higher stats, which can be balanced out with good runes, which are, again, farmable.

F2P gets to go much further in SW than most other mobage.

Don't take my word for it, give it a go as a low priority thing you play when your other games are out of stamina or something. A common thing with most players of SW is that they're just chugging along, regular scheduled grinding and farming, then they get a sweet nat4 or nat5 (because newbie luck strikes everyone in this game and I mean everyone) and suddenly they start paying attention. They start farming smart, saving free energy to blow in one shot when they have a double XP running. They start noticing what works well together. They notice some rune types can outright add abilities. They start raising a bunch of things, and then they realise they have choices. And there's when the fun squadbuilding shit starts.

Well, I just barely managed to scrape through the hard event boss in New World. Of course she didn't drop the character, guess I'll stick to trying to farm it on medium while praying since I just need my second one.

They give you a fixed starter team through the tutorial, and first non-fixed rare roll won't be for a while. Just go with it. Of the starter 4, the light garuda is very much worth keeping, being a resurrector, of which there are few in the game. Fire hellhound is a great buffbot for nuke teams later on. Water fairy will be usable for a while, but you'll want a better healer ASAP. Wind vagabond is crap, replace ASAP with anything that looks better. I'll write up a non-exhaustive list of 2* units to look out for later.

These are my leveled guys. I've got a few more offscreen, and a bunch in the storage building that's not considered your regular box. I usually keep a crap arena defense up during the week to farm the lower rankings for easy glory points, then switch to a proper defense on Sunday to finish at 1400+ points thereabouts.

As an aside, that Konamiya? That's a natural 2*. Raised him up to 6*, maxed, and he's pulling his weight real well in one of the rune dungeons, cleansing debuffs, healing, throwing free turns around willy nilly.

compared to the original you make a team out of 4 unit (which are shit by a gacha) and each unit has only 1 spell, there is a bit of team building involved since having units of multiple kind (like all goblins) give you bonus and the skill are all the usual stuff you know from puzzle quest (plus units have passive trait like dealing double damage to undead and shit like that) and you want a team where all colors are used in order to not waste mana

to be completly honest, it is a little scummy, there is no way to gain premium currency (and one of the things you can buy with it just doubles all your XP/Money gains, not to mention it's the only way to pull the gacha with the highest rarity unit) and there is quite a bit of grind involved but on the other there is no stamina system at all and completing missions give you free unit so it has not being scummy enough to make me want to stop playing

well actualy you can get premium currency by playing a treasure looting minigame but the minigame can only be played once in a blue moon and it's very stingy, like i played this minigame 3 time already have 8 unit of premium currency and a pull is between 10 and 15 units depending on what gacha you are trying (one gacha change every week, right now it's selling a unit that's basicaly "FUCK GOBLINS" as i'm told goblins are very powerfull in PvP)

i also forgot to add, you can pull the gacha by using ticket but i have no idea how you get them, i think they are related either to the PVP mode of the game or the draft mode or the minigame that doles out premium currency

Some news on Shironeko

Chaguma 2015 character and weapon gacha will still be release as scheduled. However weapon gacha will not receive instant 5* release.

Gacha revival will not happen again in the future. However, characters will still be release with different jobs/design (eg. school mira, red mira) Hero characters like Douglas, Rokka etc. might possibly make a comeback in the future.

Depends on how you're tackling the event. If you're doing the shortcut routes, (5 ships max, 2 dds during the Shokaku and Zuikaku event and taking along Arashi for Midway) compass rng is almost non existant and as long as the girls are equipped right, and picking the right formation for your situation you can get through events cheaply (as long as you're leveled). Drop farming might end up being the biggest drain if you're unlucky, somewhat mitigated by bringing along Saru's mongolian fishing trawler.

She specializes in MZ5 (and 3) due to her status, but she's basically the queen of Metal Zones in general. As soon as you're comfortable to do so, ideally you'd only ever want to run Metal Zones with teams of two (the sweeper and the trainee) to minimize exp-loss for the trainee. But with Seasoned Pro, Bonna completely pays her own "entry cost" and even grants a small net-gain compared to not running her. So her biggest bonus is neither her (really small) exp-bonus or status (it's a great help if it's there though), but the fact that you can run Metal Zones with 3 people, which opens up a ton of options and much more comfortable floor-sweeps. And she doesn't even need a lot of investment (high SB% or all of her jobs at L65+) to do so, just her final one at L65 suffices.

Levels feel like they matter to me. Other than the usual accuracy/anti-sub/evasion boosts there's a greater amount of ways to reduce the potential damage you can take.

Some girls upgraded come with a defensive skill, Prinz Eu can jump in front of any ship she's next to to take the hit and reduce the damage by 80%, Oklahoma and Nevada can negate a crit and reduce the remaining damage, Bep can buff herself and another girl with more evasion, armor and anti-air.

Heading is defined by average ship speed rather than a flat percentage so fleets with a high speed value can reguarly cruise through with GreenTs which means more damage for you less damage for them.

Contact happening before formation selection ties into what you can do with formations. Line abreast giving you a free depth charge phase before sub torpedoes, diamond letting all your DDs, CLs and CAs join in on the air combat phase with anti-air fire (git wrekt anti-air director) and echelon letting you do some fancy shit even if you're underleveled.

Then there's the distinct lack of equipment related cut ins, sacrificing a slot for evasion/armor/anti-air isn't quite as painful when night fighting is beaver cut in damage on demand and not incredibly dangerous when you're leveled and in double line.

There'll always be that lucky plane that makes it through your anti-air curtain or that lucky 1/20 shot that lands on your flagship for a crit but when it ends up being Fantasque who straight up perfect dodges it or London's overpenetrate skill kicks in and reduces it to 5 damage the situation doesn't quite feel as stacked against you.

It's mostly (maybe all, not sure) characters you get free from events and such, so they're actually weaker than normal.

Hero-only crown requirements and entry conditions seem to show up a lot, so it's good to pick them up when you can.

Two weeks of an event map showing up in the bottom left of the main screen. There's no difficulty selection like KC with maps having recommended levels but sometimes you can scrape by even the final map with a 50/60 team with some luck and some, "all in" echeloning with good placements with your DDs/CLs/CAs.

Final boss maps so far have been zero bullshit single nodes (Midway) where it's just you and your girls or have a shortcut if you're willing to go in understrength in some form.

Event only drops are often put in the second to last boss node and everywhere but the first node in the final map but even low level admirals can profit from the early maps with World 4/5/6 drops showing up and a lot of battleships.

People are expecting a construction era event however which is a week of new ships being added to the building pool, rare ships having their rates uped, expedition crit rates doubling and +50% exp.

Dear god, she really is a whole lot easier. If I didn't rengeki in the wrong order I'd have beat her my first fight, but I ended it with heavy blade instead of twin blade instead.

I would have probably managed the clear if I had a healer, but my only healers are water and I feel like taking underleveled water characters to this would just get me killed even faster.

comparing the SR units the new years one is far stronger. I personally have not gotten a SR out of 16 or so rolls but I hear people get a few SR from the rookie gacha so maybe if you work your way to limit breaking then its not that bad of investment maybe.

No idea. I've been single rolling in it as I get crystals because there doesn't seem to be an incentive for hoarding for a 10 roll from what I can tell.

It's probably worth it because the SRs in there are pretty good, I really want the twinblade girl from it, but all my single rolls in that gacha give me is either Rs, R+s or non-NY SRs.

Same way they did previous Shinki releases: just do it without rereleasing the characters, for the people who already rolled them when they came out.

Also, I wouldn't really say they're "banned" from it. They're not doing it anymore, but it's still their decision and not a restriction forced on them.
