Grim Dawn is an ARPG made by a few left over developers from Iron Lore Entertainment who also made Titan Quest along with a few other devs including one D1/D2 designer. Currently you can't really pirate it because it breaks NPCS and quests (custom DRM I'm guessing) but there is a DRM free version planned for launch.

seriously, I've found 4/4 justicar armor, 4/4 dawnbreaker armor (mix-matching both for some thunder paladin fun), along with a handful of legendaries for my pistol sorcerer and witch hunter.

all from Cronley's hideout in elite.

at this point it's nuts i do 3-16k light retaliation damage, 86% damage reflection, capped resists, 2 different lightning nova procs when im hit/block, lightning bolts on attack.

Ultos would be proud of this righteous Warder.

It's not completely trash though. You get a ton of -resist from CoF and Veil, CC for packs with CoF and Trap, PB for sustain and casting speed and BB when shit hits the fan.

I'd also argue that GD was initially planned with a very limited number of masteries ( 4 IIRC, Arcanist and Shaman were only a bonus ), and they probably wanted to shove as much stuff as possible to cover as many gameplay types as they could.

It's hard to say how the builds will be changed but soldier has always had good survivability.

It's silly but yeah. Witchblade doesn't have much to go on with all their maxed out items being in the 50-58 range, the super endgame stuff is caster and light armor. Witch Hunter probably has it a bit easier because of that but still there isn't really a set designed for it. So let me tell you about this thing called 'Crit Damage'.

That's how you make Blade Arc builds really work. Laceration + Fighting Spirit give you an insane amount of +Crit Damage (and Laceration lets you hit more targets which is better sustain (lifesteal)), and Field Command boosts your OA by basically a max-level -of Attack affix.

I'm also noticing so far that war cry "hits" the enemies around me, and sometimes triggers on hit effects.

honestly I'm happy with this. I'm still at 12k+ health, and my resists/armor are all high as fuck.

I'm pretty sure player characters are unaffected by damage-based ministuns. Otherwise regular stuns follow the same logic in that % stun resist reduces the duration of an applied stun.

As the other anon said, it can pair up pretty well with any other mastery, which, along with its survivability skills, is why it's such a popular second mastery to take.

Why can't the auto-attack modifiers be changed so they modify all attack based actions? That way you can forcewave or whatever the fuck you want and have modifications to those skills. Also get rid of the %chance. Have them modify the attack EVERY FUCKING TIME. And balance around it.

the only reason to get cunning is for scaling bleed. think it also works on internal trauma, dont know never bothered. you can (and always should) get tons of OA from gear. anything "of attack" is the best type of item in the game, and all the devotions that give OA are the best devotions in the game.

cunning gives shit OA anyway, even if you dump every point into it, it'll get you maybe 400 more OA at level cap, out of your ~3k. not worth most of your lifepool or magic dmg unless you're a bleed build.

Yes autoattacking is bad, its bland. Yes weapon procs are bad. Chance based skills in an ACTION GAME make combat fluidity feel like shit and give less control to the player. Cooldowns are bad becauase they ruin the pacing of combat in an ACTION game. There are literally less classes so I'm not sure what your issue is

My OA was nerfed so hard I had about 75% chance to hit, 0% chance to crit on this fight. And that is only when I wasn't frozen constantly, which was 5% of the whole fight. I ran out of Hoarfrost oil mid-fight.

45 minutes and 176 potions later it dies. Fuck the nerf. I'm done with Grim Dawn for awhile.

What to spend my level up attribute points in as a caster demolitionist? You need physique to not get one shot, and for gear, but most spells also have physical and fire damage so they scale off of both cunning and spirit. Not to mention that cunning gives OA and Spirit gives energy regen so i can use all my spells without running out of energy

If you went Arcanist as your second mastery (you did do that right?) consider bumping up Inner Focus and roll some +cun/+spirit/+OA equipment from a blacksmith. iirc components and augments give you those as well

its not as much as a complaint against having an auto attack skill, but against all of them being you just hitting the enemy with your weapon and causing differently coloured effects to appear.

the skills that can be either on cooldown or used as main attack had the right idea but in the end its all just an aoe melee/ranged attack

phantasmal blades are the most "different" skill you can get in this game currently

Back to the drawing board again. Poison skill selection is still pretty slim, but if I maybe roll with the eye on a pets build with maybe Demolitionist to set up traps as I kite it could be interesting.

Then again I do tend to always focus on ranged builds...

I only get reckless tempest when fighting trash mobs/hero mobs it doesn't really spawn on bosses. as far as OA however to get it to happen fairly often in trash/hero fights. max out field command, and I maxed out tenacity of the boar. I also put a few points into fighting spirit. which increases oa by percent and procs on chance whenever ur hit.

with that being said reckless tempest is mainly for adding more AoEness to trashmobs, the rest of the devotion is what's important, tons of +light damage and the 30% chance to get 100% more dmg is what will help on bosses.
