You know, if you said there is only a point in keeping /sword/ alive during events, then I wouldn't have disagreed with you, but I don't get your motivation now. Yes, the thread isn't brimming with discussion; yes, it doesn't have hundreds of unique daily posters; yes, it has shitposting (unlike every other general out there). But it doesn't mean that people interested in keeping it alive should stop. /blog/ definitely does not provide enough space for discussion during events, and keeping the thread alive for the sake of continuity isn't a bad thing in itself, and if Nitro keeps putting out events at least once per month, I don't see why this thread can't be kept alive at all times.

Am I the only one who always forgets about Gotou's existence. I got the kid during his event but I'm constantly forgetting about him.

I forgot about Monoyoshi and Gotou already. That happens with every recent sword, they have a very short lived popularity then suddenly die.
The Koutetsus never really became popular, akashi was popular for a while then suddenly became forgotten, hakata was only popular for the entirety of his event, nihongou only got popular for a while because of his recollection and monoyoshi, even though he spiked in popularity instantly because >Izumi and then had his recollection with Gotou, he still kinda slowed down.
Same will probably happen with the new swords, they'll eventually be forgotten for the next new thing.

I like Gotou though his design is feels a bit off and even incomplete without Monoyoshi to compare (fuck me). Still, he is one of my regular tantou and I prefer him over some of his brothers. That said, he wasn't hugely popular even at his peak iirc. Usually there's a huge outpouring of art for new swords but I didnt see much of him, comparatively speaking.
