As far as I can tell, they don't even change the material properties.

Everything stays the exact same except for what I presume is the normal map. So a couple colors are swapped around, but everything still has the same speculars, etc.

It honestly feels like they aren't even trying. The prices alone are already ridiculous, but the actual color schemes just... it's like there's zero effort being put into it. There were better skins made in 10 seconds by the art team when they were first showing this stuff off. I don't understand what happened.

Pic related (and heavily cropped for reasons), did this after being inspired by the tash-murkon skin.
70% specular on the orange metal bits with a dark red base color and orange highlight coupled with a grey hexagon pattern applied on the underlying parts. It's the same basic color scheme as the tash murkon skin, but with different speculars and normals applied to different parts.

It didn't take me very long to do this, and that's with something that isn't exactly a robust editor.

The only explanation I can come to is that there is a management decision involved with keeping the art team from putting decent skins out.

Most vets are aware that the game has been decreasing in quality for a long time.
