1. blargSnes will not work regardless of installing the .cia with FBI or BBM, launching the application from the emuNAND home screen menu results in a black screen that is only resolved by a hard reset. emuNAND and sysNAND are unlinked if that helps with anything.

2. GBA VC titles are not working either, resulting in an error screen upon launch. I have tried installing their .cia files with both FBI and now BBM, both not working.

Considering you can install CIAs means your database is not fucked and doesn't have to be rebuilt. Bad news is you probably didn't install CIAs into SD because FBI gives you the option where to install them. If it's a black square upon unboxing that's the case.

Downgraded my new3dsxl to 9.2. nothing more has been done. no cfw, no emunands made. just a abrebones 3ds.

i just got this 64gb sd to replace the 16gb that is currently in the system. my question is:

is this the safe point to swap out sd cards? just make a copy of everything on the 16 and move it over to the 64gb and pop it right back in and THEN proceed with copying my nand and installing cfw? or do i still need to do that partitioning software shit?

Setting up rxtools to coldboot uses menuhax from 9.2, I thought nintendo can't block 9.2's browser, you should be able to setup menuhax and ctrbootmanager which is what you'd need for coldbooting. also get a nightly/3.0 build of rxTools obviously from the github or wherever you want to get it from.

before you do ANYTHING else, take a nand backup using emunand9 and save it to your hard drive
then save it to another hard drive
then save it to a flash drive
name it "ORIGINAL CLEAN NAND BACKUP" or something, put it somewhere where you can FIND it

then inject fbi using rxtools 2.6 to h&s and do another nand backup, this one just save it to one place, it's the one you'll generally want to use as your restore point

Small problem here.
I have coldboot set up to launch Menuhax>Ctr>CakesFW. However, I must have done something earlier to mess with this because now, when Ctr autoboots Cakes, it simply reboots Menuhax on my emuNAND. When Ctr tries to autoboot Cakes here, I get a red-screen because I'm already on my emuNAND. Anyone know how to fix this?

So I just downgraded my 3DS to 9.2, installed Homebrew and menuhax, and got a 64gb SD card to replace my 4GB.

I wrote a small guide after spending half a day figuring it out. I did this on o3DS running Cakes as CFW.
This assumes you have unlinked NANDs.

Before you can play GBA, you have to install a patch cia (only the very first time):

> If you have an o3ds in the title ID box put 0004013800000202 and in the version box type in 3665, n3ds users put 0004013820000202 in the title ID box and 4816 in the version box
> Download the patcher (Old3DS_AGB_FIRM_v3665_SignPatcher.rar for o3ds and New3DS_AGB_FIRM_v4816_SignPatcher.rar for n3ds)
> open the patcher and patch the cia you downloaded with 3DNUS
> Install the patched CIA with FBI on sysNAND by booting through Pasta. Make sure to install on NAND (press L to switch)
> Install the patched CIA with FBI on emuNAND by booting through CFW. Make sure to install on NAND

You can get the necessary software on gbatemp (where I also got most of the instructions from).

To install actual games:
> Install CIA with FBI on sysNAND by booting through Pasta. Install on SD (default selection).
> Install CIA with FBI on emuNAND by booting through CFW. Install on SD.

If you have autoboot enabled, you use FBI through pasta by doing the following:
>open homebrew launcher
>use pasta, it reboots automatically
>open homebrew launcher again after reboot

Yeah, there's been 3 major waves. Piracy was stuck at 4.5 for a huge time, you'd use the DS profile exploit to boot Gateway. A leaked CFW (Palentine/PBT) eventually came out for the profile exploit but using it was a huge pain in the ass.
