Try the other Layton games, they are a prequel trilogy, the first one (for DS) tells you how Luke and Layton met, the second one tells you about Layton's youth and the third one is some crazy shit, but not as crazy as Lost Future. There's also a movie that goes between the 4th and 5th game.

I need help. I ended up finishing FE Awakening and was sorely disappointed in it, mostly with how easy it got, how the design for gameplay remained unchanged, and the writing being well below average.

Now I have no idea what to play. Whatever happened to the platformers? The action games? Anything original that isn't an RPG timesink?

I'm looking for a relatively new game on the 3DS that is story driven, not built around a timesink, and is more actiony. Something that's a new game and not a ported over.

Final Fantasy Thearhythm was pretty ok, but too light for playability. As for similar games, something like RE Revelations, or Castlevania, just something that's only on 3DS. Are there any good adventure games besides AA5 maybe?

I feel like my selection at this point is a bunch of RPGs that I don't care to even start.

Pretty good. Some of the jokes get repeated a little too often but if you like Persona and EO, you'll probably like it. It's a little on the easier side though. And if you use Naoto in your team, she will take the dungeons, bend them over her knee, and snap them in half.

A pretty good combination of both series. I think some of the plot points got me to the point of stretching my suspension of disbelief, especially towards the end, but it was still a lot of fun.
