Trying to boot rxtools after failing to inject the FBI, but I can't. Keep getting "Failed to load: NATIVE_FIRM 4". Tried the solution posted last thread where you replace the .bin files with the ones from the pastebin, and it's the same thing. What should I do?

1) Turn on the 3DS and hold L to get to the boot manager
2) Select rxTools
3) You should now be looking at your "normal" 3DS screens
4) Go into System Settings

Okay I got the offline .cia Homebrew Launcher working.

It boots me into the 3 second selection menu thing, and if I let it default to rxtools instead of manually selecting HBC it freezes on a red screen, but other than being careful with that I got it working. Thanks a lot /hbg/.

For getting E-shop to work on EmuNAND


1 - Backup your EmuNAND in EmuNand9 tool just in case - Also backup all your saves with your preferred Homebrew;
2 - Put your SD Card in your PC and copy the Nintendo 3DS folder and EmuNand backup and store it somewhere;
3 - Put SD Card back into the 3DS and boot up EmuNand in rxMode. Make sure your Nands are unlinked this is really important;
4 - If they are unlinked go into System Settings and make sure it says RX-E {your version}. Once you confirmed your on EmuNand go click "Format Memory";
5 - Dont take out your SD Card etc just leave it format with your SD Card in it, Once its done simply setup your 3DS until you get to the Home Menu;
6 - Once at he Home Menu Head into System Settings and click "Nintendo Network ID Settings" (Making sure you have updated your Emunand to the latest firmware);
7 - If your on the latest fw it will let you signup/link your NNID. Go ahead and link any NNID to your system;
8 - Now DO NOT install your Backed Up EmuNAND.bin file. That will just put you back to Step 3 doing nothing in your favor;
9 - Now you need to open up SysNAND and format its Memory aswell to re-unlink the Nands. (Important).
10 - Once you set it up again and your at the Home Menu, Go into the Theme Change button and let it add stuff to the SD;
11 - Go ahead and use Browserhax to Get into HBL and resetup Menuhax;
12 - Now go back into EmuNand and simply reinstall all your Games and inject all your saves with SaveDataFiler.

on the Retarded's guide, at EmuNAND Phase, step 16 it says to Rename the "boot.3dsx" on the SD card to "brew.3dsx", then place the "boot.3dsx" on the SD Root. After that hold L while turning on to see CTRBootManager, but it sends me to the normal 3DS Menu.

Did I do something wrong?

How do I uninstall CIA's again? I go into FBI or BigBlue and go to delete mode right?

It looks like instead you don't have rxtools installed.
And renaming it to boot_hb just lets you boot into hbc from ctrbootmanager.
It wont change the selection or anything.

tl;dr

n3ds was downgraded from 10.3 to 9.2, emunand is at 9.5 with NVER patched and NNID fixed. Played a couple of games but eShop was still stuck doing link-in for NNID. An anon suggested to moved dbs, go into eshop then move dbs back. The image is what happened when i did that.

I really hope this is something i can fix and not a situation where i'm fucked

So I've got everything working and have been trying to test out some CIAs. Got a couple working, but it seems Star Fox 64 3D is being stubborn as fuck and fails to install. I'm using the EUR region-free one. Has anyone else has a problem with it?

I did the same thing. You probably copied the boot file from the "starter" file you dled when you should've copied it from the "emuNAND+rxTools" file instead.

Installing it installs it.
Deleting the cia just gets rid of the cia.
You will still be able to launch the game without the cia, so go ahead and delete it.
Last I heard it was recommended, but I don't exactly why.
Probably for space.

I made an improved non-kickass starter pack.

It should have everything required 3DS side (minimal PC tools) to get up and running from scratch (pre-downgrade) to CFW (multiple, rxTools default).
Additional assitive tools like SVDT (savedata manager) and Decrypt9 (extract/inject multi-tool) are also included for edge-cases.
I also took the liberty of rewriting the firmware .bat file to be more streamlined and a pretty thorough readme focusing on rxTools.
Thoughts and suggested improvements are appreciated.

just updated emuNAND to 10.3 just in time on the first 3ds I have ever had (the one before the 8.1 one i got on eBay) with NANDs unlinked before i updated so sysnand remains on 9.0 and right before the supposed release of 10.4. my original NNID is linked to my emuNAND now and I can access the eShop again and even redownload the games i lost with an SD card fuckup months ago. and this time I am free from waiting for smealum to make more kickass eShop spoofers. about to install devmenu from fbi cia installer that injected into health and safety. from devmenu the browser can be downgraded so spider3dstools-based hacks will work again on emuNAND. then all that's left is to install bootntr for the cheat plugins with cheat menus and language emulation plugins and then install bigbluemenu so i can finally install some pirated games with DLC packs included. currently attempting to get the triforce heroes special demo working so i can finally try it before i pirate it.

Is there ever any reason I would want FBI on both sysNAND and emuNAND? I forgot why I was trying for it at this point.

How do I uninstall cia's? All I get is this ghost icon in sysNAND that's starting to piss me off. I just want to get rid of it now. I think that's FBI trying to show up but can't.

I purposely broke menuhax so that doesn't get in the way. Running PastaCFW doesn't get it to appear. I don't even know how I got the installation to work in the first place. I got the icon to show up in sysNAND before formatting it with Tinyformat.

So um, just tried to use CHMM on my emuNAND to change my theme, except it fucked my shit up and uninstalled menuhax, I had to browserhax my sysNAND again to reinstall menuhax to then boot up into emuNAND, with my theme gone and all my games re-wrapped again and scrambled around.

Using hans to get to the eshop on 9.5 n3ds, it let me download all the games I owned before, except SMT IV, which just keeps giving error code: 007-2920
Any idea why only this game won't download?

I just copied and pasted all of the SD Card contents so i could easily have them in the event of a softbrick (you know, in case I went batshit crazy and formatted my SD Card [both of which happened])

Two main precautions. If you get stuck on "rebooting in 10 seconds," wait up to 10 MINUTES before manually rebooting. If you get a softbrick on reboot (error message) then try ejecting your SD card and rebooting. If you still have a softbrick you have to start over by holding L+R+A+Dpad Up and updating back to 10.3.

Sorry, this turned out to be user error. After examining my emuNAND's directory I found the title directory was completely nuked. Nothing was inside, so I readded the files from a backup I had. The games I had are now back but they were giftwrapped, still the save file worked for them. Happy I figured this out.

For reference since you asked data management showed the black box titles as grey question marks with no names and 0 block size.

Yes, actually. OFW sysnand hates seeing unsigned .cia files so it likes to hide them. Even if they're there, it doesn't let you run them.

You must be on a CFW to see them, and pasta (or rxtools dev mode, hold L as you boot rxtools to open menu and go to Advanced to select it, assuming you're using a nightly) lets you boot a CFW into sysnand

to downgrade, then used https://gbatemp.net/threads/393701/ to upgrade to 9.5, then http://pastebin.com/SjFXhB5a to get on the eshop, since I used the ndv guide to downgrade, my nnid stayed linked to my emunand, so I didn't have to worry about the bottom half.
Then, I went through downloading all of the games I actually bought, etrian odysseys mostly, but it refuses to work for Shin Megami Tensei IV, giving error code: 007-2920 when using freemultipatcher then hans, or 007-2204 using just fmp. Then, for the updates, I just used fmp and let the games update themselves by pressing Y, and got the dlc from in game for smash.
So I'm just stuck unable to download SMT IV

Also, if I have a backup of my old SD completely before I started to do anything, and the gibberish still matches up with my emunand gibberish, so is there any way for me to get the saves that I lost while downgrading or even the entirety of SMT IV?

Apparently the foolproof method of testing if they work, which is making a folder in the emuNAND and checking if it's there on the sysNAND, isn't always accurate.
My folders did not appear in sysNAND, nothing I did changed sysNAND, ergo they aren't linked, but as soon as I installed a theme it applied to both.

I formatted my sysNAND and redid menuhax and now I can change emuNAND themes freely.

if you know what you're doing, you'll be fine. otherwise, never do that in sysnand or you may hard brick depending on what you do.

AGB_FIRM_patched and TWL_FIRM_patched won't brick sysnand if you install them (to NAND, which you should be if you are)

worst case scenario running GBA games/DSi games will crash you until you re-install with the proper patched files to replace the faulty ones

GBA/DSi only works if you install the patched AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM on sysnand but that's totally up to you

if you're ever unsure about any NAND installs, sandbox test it within emunand, because you can backup+restore emunand because it's on the sd card (the purpose of emunand, yay!)

Fuck I'm late. Yes, but you probably already figured it out. Access theme menu, reinitialize browser data, and everything should work fine. If you forget to access the theme menu then you'll need to not only do so, but also change your theme.

A few questions before I even attempt downgrading and installing emunand and going through whatever hassle and problems I may or may not encounter:

so my new3dsxl is finally on 9.2 and has menuhax. nothing more. no cfw yet.

it has a 32gb currently in it, but ill be a purchasing a 64gb later today.

is it safe to first pop in the 64gb (with a copy of everything that was on the 32gb on it) THEN proceed with installing custom firmware? or will i still have to go through that partitioning software shit?

is that game a cart or a channel? you can try using sdvt instead of SDF and see if that lets you dump the save. you can also flash your old NAND.bin back to sysnand via gateway menu (no flashcart needed), install SDF on sysnand, then transfer the save afterward. failproof, but probably a pain in the ass unless you really feel like doing that
