-10.4 WHEN– January 11th? Be advised:
-Can no longer download Ironfall 1.0
-Smealum has begun work on hax 3.0
-Browser/Menuhax both work on the latest firmware again! DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew.
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works on every firmware including 10.3.
>Is downgrading safe?
Safe as it gets for now. Most bricks seem to be people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the process.
-This weekend could be the perfect time to try this. Right now soft bricks can restore by update, but what happens when it's 10.4?
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries, especially with New 3DS. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-Apparently, the Wii U and 3DS use the same fucking keys... LOL
-Hykem is being weird.
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
Using http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji on a N3DS on 9.5
At the begining with the step mentioning database entries and things, I think that's only supposed to be done if they don't already exist, as I did it and in order to recompile them, my 3ds deleted all updates and downloadable contents from my sd card.
So, with that in mind, I owned the dlc for smash and a few titles from the eshop, and they were wiped long before making an emunand and all that, so is it possible to get them back, I know the saves are gone, if I use the eshop spoof from http://pastebin.com/SjFXhB5a
I'm just asking before hand, because I don't want to waste my time to find out that I can't actually redeem the things attached to my NNID, which I believe is still active on my emunand, but I don't know how to check. Thanks
I made an improved non-kickass starter pack.
It should have everything required 3DS side (minimal PC tools) to get up and running from scratch (pre-downgrade) to CFW (multiple, rxTools default).
Additional assitive tools like SVDT (savedata manager) and Decrypt9 (extract/inject multi-tool) are also included for edge-cases.
I also took the liberty of rewriting the firmware .bat file to be more streamlined and a pretty thorough readme focusing on rxTools.
Thoughts and suggested improvements are appreciated.
What is xorpad? I keep seeing this word but can't find a definition. The 3dshax on reddit didn't have it in their terminology faq either.
Also am I right in thinking ctr doesn't work on rxtools 2.6? I don't want to update if its as buggy as I hear but going to the browser every time is really annoying.
I tired opening eshop and miiverse through 10.3 emuNAND, and I got an error code that fixes by signing into the network with my NID through sysNAND, but when I go into settings to do that and I put in my info, it tells me in order to continue I need to update (on 9.2). Someone know what to do?
>Playing the smash demo religiously for 60 hours since it came out with the code craze
>can't afford games
>finally play the full game today
>can't use anything other than mario
finally going to play this shit with more than 5 characters
3ds folder 1:
3ds folder 2:
If I use menuhax to boot the homebrew launcher, can I then run rxtools from there to get into my emunand? Opening this fucking browser is getting old. Everytime I exit a gba game it boots back to sysnand.
Alright, I got a new problem. I put the CIAs I wanted to download in the CIA file at the 3DS root, no biggie. rxtools loads up, except the logo doesn't show up and there's black screens with a red pixel on the bottom screen. I try booting up a bunch more times with possibly unrelated freezes happening before CTRBootLoader comes up. Finally, I get back to rxtools and I get the black screen again.
Did my emuNAND die suddenly, or is this normal as you add more stuff onto the SD card? I'm running RT 10.3 on an OG 3DS.
Can you install CakesFW AND RxTools later? This is for a friend and Cakes worked great for me so I'd be able to get it working for him quickly, but RxTools is usually the best for a O3DS, right?
Welp. Couldn't do it.
A whole week has passed with me trying to downgrade and I couldn't do it.
What do I do now? Not update and hope for a more stable downgrading process?
ill check again but whats TinyFormat? I just followed the guide on how to unlink.
WHAT Why wasn't this shit in the guide? So im just on 10.3 emu9 with no fix?
what was the problem anyway? I really dont care but i can still use online in games right?
I tried to update smash whit an cia and it instaled it, but everytime i launch smash the game crashes and says power off the console, any help?
figured out that i still had a paternal code and this dbz game is awesome.
heres the games its region free
Got all the shit done to download games. But I still want to be able to access eshop. I know the steps to do it, but I can't load into homebrew launcher via CTR tool manager, or whatever it's called.
> **ZIP3DSFX v0.6 by d0k3**
> ! ERROR opening internal archive!
> Press any key to reboot
How do I fix this?
>game files are called .CIA
>their installer is called Big Menu
You guys are shitting me, right? Is the 3DS CFW scene literally baneposting?
There's no practical way to do that. To keep it not-so-technical, Decrypt9 is actually implemented in a way very similar to CFW. It requires full control of the security CPU in the system which you can't possibly get when running in the home menu (the 9 in the name refers to the ARM9 which is the security CPU). This applies to EmuNAND9 too.
There isn't really any way to generate XORpads when the system is running. Though hopefully, we'll soon be able to decrypt 7.x+ games on PC thanks to Nintendo's key failures.
Literally a week of trying again and again.
currently trying to install FBI.cia, however always comes up with an install failed. confused with what I'm doing wrong? I'm trying to install after booting through PastaCFW and can't find a solution
Hey guys, I'm currently following the "You are literally retarded" if you fail this guide, aka this one: http://pastebin.com/EBKipkPW, and it seems I am retarded.
I've gotten to the step where I need to copy my back up information onto the SD card after formatting for Emunand, and my card has shrunk to half size and I cannot place all the information back onto my 3DS? What can I do for this? It went from a 4gb card to a 2.7gb card after formatting, so what should I do?
I tried that once.
It half downloaded it, didn't install shit, and then quit.
And I don't wanna fuck with eshop atm.
How do I go about swapping sd cards?
Just copy all the files off, push them back on, then reinstall rxtools?
>It half downloaded it, didn't install shit, and then quit.
Literally just keep trying, it will work eventually.
It doesn't start from the beginning either when attempting again, so yes it will eventually work.
What could you possibly need on sysnand that requires it to be completely spelled out?
o3ds? get to 10.3 before it's gone.
n3ds? stay on 9.2, or you can try to get to 9.5 (but no higher).
error message? if it's about a database, just open eshop so it can create those files and try again.
N3ds? What sysupdater are you using try the new safemode one from 3dsiso
if not go to the gbatemp one
I say delete the sysupdater folder and updates folder from your sd. Redownload 9.2 for your system and place the new sysupdater and updates on the card
Okay anons how much do I have to do so that I'm not fucked by 10.4? My brother wants me to do it for him and I'm too tired to do the whole thing now. I just want to get done as much as I need to so that 10.4 doesn't ruin everything.
The Cakes creator has an O3DS, it works fine on O3DS. Don't believe all the memes you hear here.
xorpads are used when you're decrypting .3ds ROMs to convert them to .cia
2.6 can't autoboot, switch to 3.0 or Cakes
I was a pretty rad Mario in the demo and I ended up going back to him a few months ago. He just feels so good.
You can get a launcher.dat of it and launch it via web browser. There's not a .cia, though.
>WHAT Why wasn't this shit in the guide?
I don't know what guide you used, but it's in my guide.
There's a fix somewhere. I don't keep it in my guide because my guide helps you prevent the issue in the first place.
>I can still use online in games right
No.. eshop, friend list, and online in games is all broken now.
This is what happens when you use shitty old guides.
The installer is FBI. Big Blue Menu is a newer one.
You can launch TinyFormat from the homebrew launcher. It's just a separate download.
What is the error?
>It went from a 4gb card to a 2.7gb card after formatting, so what should I do?
That space was taken up by the new emuNAND partition. 1GB if O3DS, 2GB if N3DS.
read FAQ, ctrl-f boot.cfg
You're not gonna get it to work. Check old threads for "error pastebin" or something.
What's the error?
>Q: I'm getting a "Database does not exist" / "Invalid database" error! A: You likely haven't installed anything from eShop or other locations before. You will need to go to the "Nintendo 3DS/<id0>/<id1>/dbs/" directory on your SD card and create empty "title.db" and "import.db" files. Then, go to System Settings -> Data Management -> Nintendo 3DS -> Software on your 3DS and let it repair the database files.
Try that, it worked for me.
You might also have two <id0> folders, one of them is your sysNAND and the other your emuNAND, do the folder on both to be sure.
>That space was taken up by the new emuNAND partition. 1GB if O3DS, 2GB if N3DS.
Well what do I do now? I literally do not have enough space to place all of my back up onto my SD card. Are there any files I can drop to add space? It's an O3DS if that helps any. Can I just grab a new SD card, and format that by placing the backup on the SD card and then doing the same steps to it?
Ive come to realize hbg is a wasteland containing nothing but those damn cunts
All they do is shit up everything and come over here asking stupid questions that are answered in the fucking guide
>launch homebrew through menuhax
>downgrades into softbrick each time
>launch homebrew through browserhax
>sysupdate freezes everytime
>launch homebrew through ironhax
>half-dozen freezes and failure to find the .cia files
>get it to downgrade
Is 9.2.0-20U(Full).zip the right set of files to downgrade to? I've been at this for five hours. I try to start the console after it reboots into the error screen with and without the SD card and nothing is working, making me L+R+A+UP into safe mode each time.
>You can launch TinyFormat from the homebrew launcher. It's just a separate download.
If i do this to unlink my nand will I need to reinstall menuhacks or can I just copy my SD backup across?
maint is tomorrow at 8pm eastern.
do you have tubehax set in your DNS by chance? that stops the updater from working.
.cia is just an installer file. delete it once the install is done to make space on sd
What are you defining as a "soft brick"?
You mention menuhax, are you removing the SD card after downgrading?
The menuhax payload is invalid after downgrading so it will literally not boot, giving false symptoms of a soft brick.
Whatever you get, keep in mind you could install a game up to that size if using network install in FBI.
Going to bed. Lots of the common problems I'm answering here are answered in the FAQ at the bottom of this pastebin: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
>Can I just grab a new SD card, and format that by placing the backup on the SD card and then doing the same steps to it?
If it's a bigger SD card, yes.
You'll have to reinstall menuhax. Also, scratch what I said about a separate download. It's in the same zip you downloaded, just copy the 3ds folder. I might edit my guide when I wake up to use the homebrew one instead since it's slightly less steps.
You're the last person I'm helping tonight! Just open the eshop to generate the database files. By the way, the answer to that was also in my FAQ.
That happens if it can't run the kernel exploit. See >>128183009 for why it won't work in hblauncher_loader, or in the EmuNAND web browser or anything.
If you're using CtrBootManager, you can set that up to boot into Decrypt9 like this:
title = "Decrypt9";
path = "/Decrypt9.dat";
offset = "0x0";
You'd need the .dat version of it and I'm probably gonna look like a retard because I forgot if code tags work outside of /g/ now.
I'm using Tux's sysupdater. I booted it up and got the red warning text, but I don't see what numbers the guide is talking about.
I'm on an o3ds 10.3
I booted the hbl via menuhax.
Should I worry about it?
open eshop to have it create database files. then try again.
i dropped mega links eariler in the thread. there's other sites like 3dsisos and shit that get tossed around from time to time.
Scoured these links throughout the internet, uploaded them to pastebin so maybe someone doesn't have to brave the wilderness of Colombian adlink ridden blogs.
There's nothing in the FAQ about not being able to start up Cakes for the first time. Also there's nothing about boot.cfg in reference to fixing my issue. Is it really fine to skip ahead and do whatever that part of the guide tells me to do? I haven't done any of the cakes part of the guide, except for transferring the necessary files and clicking on it.
>If it's a bigger SD card, yes.
Ah alright then, just a question now so when I go to purchase a card for this, should I go for a larger size? I assume I'm placing the .cia files on the cards to transfer them to my 3DS right? What's a good size for transferring games over to it?
>No.. eshop, friend list, and online in games is all broken now.
Are you fucking serious? so my online is fucked for following the retard guide?
What if i didnt fuck up? how can you maybe fix it?
I only went onto the eshop to get the fbi to work.
The games themselves will be installed to the SD card. The size is obviously up to how determined of a pirate you expect yourself to be.
16GB is the absolute minimum I'd recommend, I filled my 32GB one up surprisingly fast so 64GB is probably good if you expect to get a lot, 32GB otherwise.
The RxTools devs are incompetent and unorganized. No wonder everyone's getting fucked up.
Use this guide: http://pastebin.com/HwDyhSiX
"If you fail to boot emunand, copy ONLY boot.3dsx and boot.cfg from here
into the sd card root, overwrite if needed. Since you're on a N3DS, open up boot.cfg with notepad and change autobootfix = 8 to autobootfix = 2.
From there you should be done. I'd recommend doing this, now I have 100% boot rate after it failed to boot."
Old (2DS), North America.
Is this really the cause? Someone in another thread stated that it didn't cause it.
It boots into "An error has occurred, something something support.nintendo.com" regardless of whether or not the SD card is in or not.
1) Turn on your 3DS into Homebrew Launcher (hold L, select Homebrew Launcher)
2) Run EMUNAND9
3) Select EmuNAND Manager Options > Backup EmuNAND to EmuNAND.bin
4) Once finished, turn off the 3DS and put the SD card into your PC
5) Copy the emunand.bin onto your PC. Keep it safe.
6) Open the Nintendo 3DS folder on the root of the sd card
7) Inside you should see some folders names something like "45kj6h4kjgh6kj4gk6"
8) Determine which folder represents your emuNAND (I recommend looking for the oldest backup you have. It should contain the Nintendo 3DS folder however one of the folders inside it will be missing. The missing folder is your emuNAND folder)
9) Cut/Paste the folder to your PC
10) Put the SD card into your 3DS and turn on itno emuNand (hold L, select rxTools)
11) Go to System Settings
12) Make sure you are still in emuNAND (It should say RX-E 10.3-28E or something similar)
13) Go to Other Settings > Page 4 > System Format
14) Let it do it's thing
15) Once you are formatted and back in the main menu, go back into the System Settings
16) Log into your NNID (top button). Make sure you log into your old ID, don't make a new one.
17) Once you are logged in, go back to the main menu
18) Open eShop and once you get to the store page, close it
19) Turn off the 3DS and put the SD card in your PC
20) Put the emunand.bin back onto the SD card's root, and place the emuNAND folder (names something like "984356h6kjghkjgliglyg") back into the Nintendo 3DS folder
21) Put the SD card in the 3DS and turn on into Homebrew Laucher (hold L and select Homebrew Laucnher)
22) Open EMUNAND9
23) Select EmuNAND Manager Options > Copy EmuNAND.bin to EmuNAND
24) Once finished, turn off the console
25) That's it! When you go back into emuNand, the eShop should work fine
Okay so there was an anon in the last thread who told me I was trying to install cia files on my sysNAND and I finally figured out how. When I boot up my 3ds using the menuhax it's booting me into the sysNAND + homebrew and I have to boot up Pasta to get to emuNAND's homebrew/fbi/etc... Is it supposed to do that? if not, then how do I directly boot into emuNAND's homebrew? I hope this all makes sense
Put the updates folder in the right place on your SD card, open up the terminal, type dot_clean and a space, drag the updates folder to your terminal, hit enter. It'll get rid of the OS X ._ crap files that fuck things up badly.
Ah alright then. I'll make sure to pick up a larger one. I thought I'd be installing directly to the console itself, because for some reason I thought the 3DS had a harddrive. Thank you friends, I'll go out and pick one up tonight or tomorrow. So just to clarify once more, my next steps after getting a bigger card is to do this.
>Place backup on card
>Boot into Homebrew
>Go into Emunand
>Format the card again
I don't need to get another NAND.bin from it if I got it already, right?
The only thing you have to worry about on a mac is the whole dotfiles thing. Sysupdater can't handle dotfiles being present in the /update/ folder. To fix this run "dot_clean /Volumes/SDNAME/" in the terminal and it will remove all the leftover dotfiles. Make sure to eject immediately after the command finishes.
If you can't figure out the path to the sd card just drag it into the terminal and it will autocomplete it for you.
But this doesn't mean anything, right? My emuNAND was 'RX 10.3-28" before I unlinked it.
I've created a folder and it doesn't appear on the sysNAND, and the installed cias doesn't appear like gifts.
So... I guess it's fine. Thanks!
Anyone is this the fix, to fix the eshop/online problem?
I followed this guide and got this far but it didnmt mention online being fucked..
it does say to do the fix like I just posted though. will this fuck up my games i just installed though?
Question: Does EmuNAND9 need to run in Pasta or similar to do its thing? Like, the whole NAND back up and EmuNAND creation?
So I've got everything up and running great on my n3DS, 9.5U on Rxtools 3.0, the only thing is GBA games won't boot. I know before you had to patch AGB Firm but I thought that wasn't the case anymore. I have them installed to Sysnand and Emunand.
I have homebrew with menuhax installed and downgraded to 9.2 on my N3DS. Is it important that I get CFW running tonight before the server maintenance goes through?
I wouldn't go into the eshop for them, but as long as you have spoofed firmware or are on 10.3 emunand you can just download them from the prompt that appears when you try to launch the game, I think.
You can delete them.
So I've got a weird error and I want to know if there's a way to fix it without using my emunand backup.
I used sysupdater in my emunand to move from 9.2 to 9.5 on my N3DSXL (USA) and now it boots up, says "Creating Home Menu Information" and then just black screens. What should I do about this? I'm using CTR to auto boot into rxTools.
Tries http://pastebin.com/SjFXhB5a to regain access to the eshop, and it seems my nnid is still linked to my emunand, as I can see my account balance and all that jazz. But when I try to download anything off the eshop, I'm greeted by Error Code: 007-2404, and a generic error message
Anything I can do to get this working so I can update my physical games without hunting for cias?
I have a few questions.
I successfully CFWd an O3DSXL, and I've been running RXTools on autoboot quite happily for a few days now. 3DS roms (mostly) work fine.
But three things:
1. How do I play GBA roms? I've downloaded the vc injected ones from the pastebins on here, but I can get an error when I try to play them. Do I need another patch or something? I can only find instructions from pre-rxtools.
2. I've updated my emunand to the latest 3DS firmware via system update, should I stop doing that once Monday's patch is released and instead leave it happily where it is?
3. Is it possible to emulate original DS games? I've heard no and it's not a big deal but I'd like to double check.
Sounds terrifying, is it the bottom half off http://pastebin.com/SjFXhB5a because it's a different error code than the one listed, or is there a simpler and safer way to do it?
What does that accomplish anyway?
so i'm trying to set up ctrbootmanager on a n3ds as per the guide. i've edited the file config but putting in the sd card just boots normally. the guide mentioned renaming the original boot file to boot_hb.3dsx for later use but doesn't come up again. should this filename be changed back?
I updated my emunand but now it wont start it just shows two black screens, what do? o3dsxl btw
Not a n3ds but look at all the shit you can download. GBA games run great.
So what's /hbg/s go to 3ds rom source? Finished the downgrade/cfw process so late last night I didn't feel like wading through all the shit to gind the good sites.
>emuNAND and sysNAND set up
>can't get browserhax to work on sysNAND
>for the last 6 hours
Just fucking kill me already.
Did it take so retardedly long for everyone else too?
yes, and set menuhax to type 2, where it will auto do it unless you press a button,
then also you can get the bootmanager thing, so it will auto load rxtools unless you press a different button to load homebrew launcher
Alright, so I've been trying to get my O3DS XL modded all day and I've gotten to the point where I need some (most likely basic) assistance.
So far I've downgraded to 9.2 without a hitch, and then carried on my marry way and afterwards went to the gateway site and did a sysNAND backup, then put pasta and FBI on my SD card.
I was able to run pasta fine, but when I went to go and install FBI, i got an error stating something along the lines of invalid signature or some sort.
That's only half my issue, my other one being is I'm worried about this emuNAND everyone is talking about.
I went back and looked at a different guide and found this one: pastebin.com/HwDyhSiX
and it says for me to, after downgrading to 9.2, save my card content and format it. If I delete my card contents after going this far after the downgrading process, will I be at risk of errors?
TL:DR; When installing FBI I get an invalid signature error, and secondly if I delete my SD card content in order to start fresh like this guide says will I be risking anything?
Tried to follow this guide. On my EmuNAND, I have TinyFormat installed, but not FBI. Before I created my EmuNAND, I know I installed FBI, and I used Pasta to check it was there. Where did I go wrong to have FBI disappear? I want to know what retarded mistake I made, so that I don't make it again.
So, I did this stuff of downgrade, emunand, rxtools and everything works fine, but I did all of that on my O3DS in a small SD card (8GB). I bought a new one of 32GB, how do I transfer the data from one to another? Just copy and paste?
No real point in formatting SysNAND again. You reformatted EmuNAND so just reconnect your NNID there, it should work fine.
Just remember that you'll need to do the N3DS NNID reconnecting fuckery. http://pastebin.com/SjFXhB5a
are updates inclusive
ie can i just install the latest update CIA?
It'll install fine but won't appear on your home menu. You can still launch it via FBI/BigBlueMenu and it'll work, except for the few games that need language emulation via NTR (those need that even with a region-free patch).
Took a three or four hours, over two or three days. Was just hesitant and wanted to see how others fared.
Setting up my NNID took a while
Backing up and transferring files on my SD card took a lot of time as well
You have to install them to both nands. If you are on n3ds you have to patch something called agb firm. I'm on o3DS though. Only annoying thing about them is once you exit the game it kicks you back to the sysnand.
ok thanks, just asking for the future, i just got my 3ds and have nothing execpt the exponential growth dlc on my nnid, but its linked to one of my CC's.
When n3ds's get 10.x emunand (if they do) im assuming i can just open the eshop and download the latest update, or whatever?
I'm on cakes right now, trying to install BigBlueMenu and hblauncher_loader using FBI.
I tried to use pasta and then boot cakes, but I get an error message.
So am I supposed to install BigBlueMenu and hblauncher_loader to non-cakes? (sysNAND is it called?)
Could I still uninstall them through system settings? Or is it just straight up not recognized by the system?
Anything that's EUR-RF or JP-RF will also work since they're region-free, right?
>make custom Nighttime Island ACNL theme
>about to fill in everything nicely
>the BCSTM file is 4mb
>Cant reduce it to 3.3 or below without breaking shit
Go through browser hax like you did early on. Clear cookies, initialize, then go to the page.
Instead of being thrown right into homebrew, thebottom screen will have a slider. Zoom in and double click the left side.
If you get an error, restart and reinitialize.Be persistant.
This happened to me. You may have to reinstall menuhax when you got in. I also had to reinject FBI.
That's not guaranteed, it might be in the form of someone with access to some kind of specially modded N3DS decrypting the 10.x firmware for use by casual plebs. Literally nobody can tell you in advance, and CFW would almost certainly require an update too.
I think you can uninstall them from there and yeah, anything made region-free will work (but you need to download updates from the source region).
A exploit that uses the DS Profile from System Settings to boot rxTools. I couldn't get Browserhax to work so I use this instead.
Here you have the guide I used http://pastebin.com/n5WszvNF
well let me ask this, is their any reason at all to care about my nnid if i dont own shit on it and just plan to pirate everything.
it isnt broken or anything, my online still works (like with bravely default)
Should I play gates to infinity or just jump to super mystery dungeon?
Would anyone be a cool enough dude too make this a CIA
Im not sure if it can be played without being patched region free though.
Can someone please answer this?
I cannot open eshop without getting an error 022-2634. I need to log in to my NID through the sysNAND, but since it is on 9.2, it won't let me without updating. What do I do?
If the patch is for a game that was only released in japan, then that wouldn't matter much I'm guessing.
Not that it matters cause it doesn't seem to let you download cross-region updates to begin with
Help pls, I want to play games but my actual SD card is too small.
I always get this when I load rxtools nightly through the web browser. How do get rid of it?
Does kernel access mean we can have actually better and more useful homebrew?
I'm actually curious what can people come with.
Back in the DS era some things were nice like Colors or DSOrganize (or maybe it was the novelty of the time only but still)
Also, is Hyrule Warriors Legends already out?
so i got a very specific problem pertaining to (N)3DS.
I lost my damn SD adaptor and can't get one till tomorrow, which is when i hear Nintendo will probably go into maintenance/push out a new firmware update.
So the only option i got is to insert my microSD card into my phone, plug my phone to my PC and copy the files necessary for browser/menuhax. Problem is my android phone automatically creates an 'Android' folder and another folder in the microSD card.
Will these 2 extra folders interfere with installing homebrew?
>So what's /hbg/s go to 3ds rom source?
I used 3DSISO and found EVERYTHING there.
Except for one or two titles like Harvest Moon ANB or MH3U.
You just have to look harder.
Also install jdownloader. It makes the process SO MUCH EASIER.
1) Backup emunand and backup its folder in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/ (easier method: add a _ or something at the end of the folder so you don't have to copy it off your SD card, OR cut/paste it to the root of your SD card)
2) Go in emunand system settings, pick system format
3) Let it do its thing
4) Log into your NNID on newly formatted emunand
5) Restore emunand backup and put its folder back in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/
I'm using the WIP too. Now that I checked my own config on the SD card, it seems like I'm actually using the .3dsx version of it... yet I remember setting it up like that and specifically remembering that it needs a different offset. Odd.
Fuck all games actually use NNID on 3DS, so nah. Remember that NNID was only added later and isn't even mandatory. Really the only reason you might want an NNID is for Pokemon Bank and there's a homebrew alternative anyway.
I don't think that's the problem, because the last step after editing your sysnand nver is 7. Boot to emuNAND, run FMP, check NNID Settings.
but I can already access that and see my account on my emunand without modifying my sysnand
Anyone know why some games give me this error?
>Menuhax working perfectly
>FBI installes .cia's perfectly
All my games work except Monster Hunter among others. HALP
Is there anything else I need to be doing other than having Decrypt9 and pointing to the .bin file in a CTR boot.cfg entry to get it to boot? Every single method I've tried causes it to crash, and I'm starting to think there's some setup I missed the readme isn't telling me about.
So in this guide
I'm on Part 4a - #17
"Navigate to BigBlueMenu.cia and press A. Press A again to confirm."
When I do this though, it tells me "This program already exists. Import cancelled". Did I fuck up somewhere?
Your android phone also automatically created those folders? And it didn't affect the installation progress?
i did but my phone recreates them every time i plug it into my PC.
no you're fine. 3ds only reads files in the "Nintendo 3ds" and "DCIM" folders.
By the end of this you will have a whole bunch of shit cluttering up your SD card and everything still works fine.
BTW you can also transfer files over wifi in system settings. It requires a windows pc on the other end (7, 8, maybe 10?). Google "3ds wifi file transfer". The wifi transfer is enough to do the menuhax and downgrade, you will need a real adapter for the CFW part.
do I need an internet connection to access homebrew menu/downgrade? For instance, if I install menuhax and an update is pushed, will I still be able to access the homebrew menu to downgrade?
Press the power button.
Restart as it might of crashed. Do you have a Themes folder created on the root of your sd card and did you open the themes on your 3ds so the data could be created?
You don't. However, you need an internet connection to recover from a soft-brick (where the recovery menu still works), and after tomorrow you'll most likely recover to a 10.4/11.0/whatever that you can't downgrade from.
menuhax works by exploiting shit in the home menu on 10.3, unless you go to 10.4 it wont go away.
so yes, but if you softbirck and have to recover your only option will be 10.4 which locks you out of downgrading
Ur running cakes, thats the problem.
Why would you use CHMM?
Use this software:
and pack your themes into a .cia moron
Fuck rxTools. I've had no problem with Cakes + BootNTR. It's frustrating because I've gotten games like Bravely Second and Fire Emblem If to play (which I thought I'd have the most problems with) but I can't get something like Smash Bros. to fucking play.
I have the first and third patch selected in Cakes. Signature patching in emuNAND hasn't been a problem as far as I know, I've been able to install a bunch of games successfully.
When formatting an SD card to use, what allocation size do I want to go with? I have 32gig micro sdhc with an adapter. I've used one fine with my previous 3ds but don't recall the steps I went through.
So I got error ERROR 022-2634
and people are telling me to go to the eshop on sys, I did but it asked me to update so i didnt, should i now try to go to the eshop on emu9? Im kinda sacred to do
This is caused because your NNID is still linked for your emuNAND, but it's not linked in Nintendo's servers, because it was unlinked from your console when you unlinked your NANDs. These are the steps I followed:
1. Boot into HBL, then boot into your CFW, I use PastaCFW. MAKE SURE YOU SKIP MENUHAX IF THAT'S YOUR BOOT ENTRY POINT
2. Use browserhax to go back to HBL.
3. Use FBI and repeat step 3 above, but this time it'll be done on sysNAND. YES IT'S A BAD IDEA BUT IT WORKS
4. After that, repeat steps 1 and 2, so you're on CFW on sysNAND.
5. Run FMP, as explained in step 5 above, but to sysNAND instead.
6. Go to System Settings, and NNID Settings. Now hopefully you can link your NNID to your console. Log in.
7. Boot to emuNAND, run FMP, check NNID Settings.
Your console should be linked back again to your NNID in Nintendo's servers, so you can use the eShop as usual.
All this, should i? online in games should still work anyway right even with this error?
I got the message that I downgrade , I heard it took like 15 minutes or something but this was quick. I was already in the menu within a few seconds and check the settings but I'm still on 10.3
and I get a black screen on symupdater
Has anyone made any libraries for game dev on the 3DS? I remember back on PSP there was an easy to use lua library and a lot of good games came out because of that. I'd like to make a SRS Rotation Tetris game for the 3DS but haven't heard much about people developing their own games just emulators and utilities.
Are all CIAs on 3dsiso.com alright to use for CFW? Is there anything I should know or look out for? One of the Mega thread stickies say that that thread's CIAs are made for gateway and not CFW so I don't know if or why I shouldn't use them with rxTools and cfw.
Any advice would be a huge help, thanks.
Anyone got a link to an E.X Troopers .cia?
All I can find is an upload on one of the slowest filehosts.
Just tried the unnlinking of nands, had to reinstall menuhax. Now if I don't bootup the CFW it acts as if the system is back to factory defaults and that the SD is empty with no games.
Is that supposed to happen?
If you're legit importing nippon games that are known to be compatible, then no and yes. It'll work until Nintendo patches Menuhax which is probably happening with the system update tomorrow. Then you'll need to avoid system updates forever, so no eShop or game updates for you. You also have no access to nippon game updates.
If you join glorious backup land then none of this will be a problem.
You know what works fine in rxtools? EVERYTHING and you dont have to do shit to play out of region games faggot
It's definitely not getting any better than it is currently, you can still recover from most bricks without giving up anything you currently have. Just remember to avoid being a retard, use the right region files for N3DS systems.
it worked for me on old 3DS
I don't remember if I could see my NNID info on settings, but basically you just format you emunand to do the initial setup again and do a new login on nintendo network (since you were logged out when you formatted sysnand). After that you restore the backup and your nnid works fine
if your trying to get svdt files onto emunand do this
get homemenu hbl
install it on emunand
launch hbl from emunand home menu
open svdt (itll probably yellow screen a few times before it works)
copy the content of the backup on your sd to the game you want using svdt (if you boot hbl inside emunand this will happen on the emunand installed games not sysnand like if you boot hbl through menuhax)
OH MY GOD WHERE DO YOU LIVE CAN I SUCK YOUR DICK
FUCK OFF FAG NVM FIXED IT RXTOOLS STILL SHIT TIER CAKE BROS WW@
Oh gawd I managed to downgrade successfully to 9.2 I'm cumming!!
jesus fuck anon stop getting your panties twisted over my cfw choice.
I used rxtools, but 2.6 doesn't have autoboot, and 3.0 is shit. So I'm using cakes. Got a problem with that?
Okay I fixed this turns out it was just a small glitch but I still got the same problem
apparently the files go like this
yet It doesn't downgrade at all
I says it found my cia files then after about a few seconds it just reboots back to menu
no errors nothing
Is anyone even reading my post no they aren't but I hope someone at least helps me any way possible
I've got a new3dsXL with 10.3 and Menuhax. What are my options for CFW?
I don't know what backup land is :|
I do not read moon, but you don't need to for the things I want to play (Monhun, Monhun clones, Yokai Busters)
And yes I would be legit buying and importing these games.
Thanks for responding.
you do need ntr to play the fates dlc, even in rx.
if you use the correct firmware files and dont use o3ds files on your n3ds using sysupdater 0.4.2 you literally can only softbrick unless you happen to be the most unlucky fuck in the universe who gets a corrupted download that breaks right as native firm gets patched(literally the end, and requires a hardmod with a dumped nand that you can only get on 9.2).
when copying from the sd to the emunand game you have to hit y on the long folder name not the /... or the base file (ie you have to open the folder with the loose save files then hit y on the root name and press select+l+r)
I had to clone my sysNAND to my emuNAND and start over a bit because I couldn't get FBI onto emuNAND, my issue now is that after unlinking them a second time with TinyFormat, I can't access my emuNAND. CakesFW boots back into ctrbootmanager and then crashes on a second attempt. Why is it doing this, anyone know?
Wait how did you format emuNAND? and you mean just cpoy and paste everything out of the card? and then after logging into nnid, you turned off the 3ds and put everything back on it?
ugh so, I'm a fucking idiot and didnt test to see if the eshop worked for me
It seems like I can still connect with my friends list, and I booted up Monster Hunter and it let me connect to download dlc and join rooms
so do I really need eshop access?
if I follow these instructions to remove my emunand and then system format am I going to have to reinstall my games again?
For N3DS I recommend using Cakes + NTR. Fully functional, and you can use a bunch of NTR plugins. My favorite plugin is one that lets you fully utilize your CPU on any game, even ones that don't take advantage of the N3DS hardware.
Hey, I didn't listen to any of your advice, and it worked, thanks.
Backup land is also known as glorious piracy land, or CFW land.
Seriously though, there's some advantages to having CFW, and permanent region-free + cross-region updates is one of them. Menuhax is going to be patched out the next time Nintendo releases an update and isn't 100% compatible with games in the first place (some check the system language, you can play those with HANS but HANS doesn't work with a lot of more recent games). Even moralfags can benefit.
Seconding this, I keep getting INVALID_COMMAND error.
>Dont blame your own incompetence on a software.
I did set it up properly. And it was working for a while. Then it stopped working when I didn't even do shit to it. I'm serious. I booted up my 3ds one day, and it just stopped working.
So I'm using cakes.
>when copying from the sd to the emunand game you have to hit y on the long folder name not the /... or the base file (ie you have to open the folder with the loose save files then hit y on the root name and press select+l+r)
tried this, and yet again it doesnt work. It just keeps saying there's an error and that I gotta hit start to exit.
Either uncart or the Gateway launcher. Once you have your .3ds, you can see >>128172401 from the previous thread for a conversion guide (someone should make a pastebin and stick it in the OP).
I did tick the box, yes.

>force an update
unless nintendo has been holding onto a trap card that lets them do this to any fw whenever they want for over a year you have nothing to worry about.
if you still wanna tinfoil go into sysnand and change all the connections (all 3) into random garbage ssids manually.
Are you using hblauncher_loader_v1.0, what cfw are you on, n3ds or o3ds?
I DID IT
I FUCKING DID IT AFTER 3 GOD DAMN DAYS !!!!!!
So, now that lm on the pirate games club:
Should l update to 10.3?
Where do you get your games?
My menuhax autoboots to cakes but it still shows that glitched pic, can l change that?
Since i cant access any updates because ERROR 022-2634 and i really dont want to fuck up what i have, will the steps on this erase anything? or can it fuck up?
can someone explain what he means by the home brew launcher without menuhax? will doing this link my sys and emu back together?
Question: To relink my NNID, I need to upgrade my sysNAND back to 10.3, right? But what else are the steps? I am on o3DS.
>what are my options for CFW
Downgrade to 9.2 then do the rxtools dance
You have menuhax already, so the next update won't auto lock you out and there's no need to turbo rush. If you plan to downgrade, it's still best if you do it in the next 12-16 hours. This way if you softbrick (usually because you fucked up somewhere), you can boot to recovery mode and still end up on exploitable 10.3 . Fuck up the downgrade on tuesday and you'll end up on 10.4 or whatever and you might be locked out of piracy & region free.
Just triple check that you have the right updates zip for your region and ds version (n3ds), check the md5sum and you'll be fine. I did my n3ds downgrade 6 days ago, and apparently it's even safer now.
shit i mean >>128187608
my sys is still on 9.2 and emu9 is on 10.3
so I dont for sure what to update my sys at all right? I just want to know if these steps are linking the sys and emu9 again.
Set up CFW first, you can update later. It's easier if you do it in that order. See "How to Update your 3DS/2DS to 9.0 or 9.2" from https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-rxtools-custom-firmware-3ds-and-2ds.390867/
>cubic ninja going for stupid prices on ebay
>yfw you got yours for less than $10
if it matters, it launches to ctrbootmanager due to how to autoboot is set up, and i use that to get to hb launcher
iirc Mario Kart 7 installed fine but everything else wont
That looks like you tried updating/downgrading to the same version that you're currently on.
uhh, are you running this from emunand or sysnand?
I've only seen people have this error when FBI is running from sysnand. If you're trying to install it so it appears on emunand, inject it into the health and safety app of emunand using rxtools
If that's not what your problem is, I don't know how to help you.
Is it at this point in time possible to have a CFW N3DS that can access the eshop, download/purchase titles, play legal and pirated/patched games online (Essentially, being able to do everything an unhacked up to date 3DS can while also having the benefit of everything CFW brings with it).
I just downgraded my O3DS last night, but my N3DS is untouched and probably running 10.3 or something close to it. I could just keep the O3DS as a hacked console and keep the N3DS clean but the idea of having one console for everything is a bit appealing.
Still pretty new to this, so I might have missed relevant material in the pastebins.
>Wait how did you format emuNAND?
Just load into emuNAND and go to options under system settings and on the fourth page there is a system format
Copy everything before formatting
I injected the backed up emuNAND then copied everything back
>mfw bought it when it was first announced to have hax
If I have rxTools installed, and my emu and sys NANDs are separate, and everything works, and i have homebrew installed.
Am I done?
can I download games?
whats the difference between ROM and .CIA?
Why cant I use ROMs?
what should i not touch to keep everything not fucked?
is there a guide that explains all these terms and what these programs do?
I want to be able to confidently go through my SD card and not fuck anything up but all these guides are half-ass written.
I had to follow some youtube guide. You guys can't write guides for shit.
I just did on all 3 of mine out of paranoia. Fill sysnand with garbage connections, disable spotpass autodownload and system info in internet->spotpass settings, then went into emunand, set tubehax DNS, changed the SSID by one character so internet broke, then turned wifi off.
They're gonna need some NSA shit to get me now.
I'll probably wait a week or so and see what people are saying before I connect it to the internet again. Even if worst case I can never turn on wireless again I'll still be happy with my emu and free 1-player games.
I'm just getting a black screen after booting up the sysupdater to downgrade my JP N3DS 10.3 down to 9.2
Tried running the FTP thing from the one guide to see if it helped, but I keep getting a black screen with no text.
I get installation data suite when I run rxTools in browser. I have emuNAND 10.3 and sysNAND 9.3. I got firmware.bin from http://nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net/ccs/download/0004013800000002/00000049. Am I missing something?
Skip down to the cakes section. It should have everything you need.
A little bit past the cakes section will be a region free section, that section tells you how to install NTR.
Trying create an EmuNAND after downloading emuNAND+rxTools.zip running firmware_download.bat and putting firmware.bin file inside the \FOR SD CARD ROOT\rxTools\sys\ and coping the whole thing into the root of the SD card Homebrew Launcher won't start up any idea how to fix this? was following this guide http://pastebin.com/EBKipkPW
> Boot into HBL, then boot into your CFW, I use PastaCFW. MAKE SURE YOU SKIP MENUHAX IF THAT'S YOUR BOOT ENTRY POINT
can someone explain how i get to the hbl without menuhax that takes me to the boot menu then to rxtools to emu9? or is the sutobooting not menuhax
So before i system format, I copy every thing from the root folder onto the computer, then format, and then paste it back on the root after the firmat? wouldn't i have to redownload the update to 10.3?
