How do I get GBA .cias to work on emunand? Do I have to update emunand? Everytime I try to open a GBA cia my 3ds "crashes".

Reposting this. If I have menuhax, do I need ninjhax to run pasta? Can't I just run pasta from the homebrew menu, use sliderhax to get back to the homebrew menu, and then run CIA?

If anyone's grey screening with browserhax on installing FBI through Pasta, try getting menuhax and use my method:

1. Enter System Settings, or if you're powering it on, hold your menuhax trigger and skip to OPTIONAL or 3.
2. Immediately exit while holding menuhax trigger to enter HBL (for me, it's SELECT).
OPTIONAL: Change your menuhax trigger in menuhax_manager to SELECT so there's no conflict with PastaCFW's trigger.
3. Boot into PastaCFW through GUI (hold L after launching -- recommend enabling boot to GUI in other settings).
4. Immediately hold trigger button to enter HBL again.
5. Enter FBI to install FBI's CIA.
6. Install. It SHOULD install correctly.
7. Exit FBI.
8. Do all the other steps.

Sometimes you'll yellowscreen on the second menuhax but all I had to do was restart.

If this helps some people let me know -- I'm not sure if it fully works or not because FBI disappeared/was semi-there then faded after I went back to Home menu (by mistake -- forgot to do other steps, whoops).

Try using eshop or the friends list. It gives an error if you didn't format with TinyFormat.

Or are you saying you linked the NNID after the format? The issue is that formatting the regular way tells Nintendo servers to unlink your NNID, but then you're still logged in locally on emuNAND, creating a half-unlinked mess that leads to errors.

That's normal. Nintendo added a check in 9.9 that if you're not on the latest update the browser forces you to update to the latest one.

You'll have to call Nintendo for them to unlink it so you can log in elsewhere. Same thing you'd have to do if you throw your 3DS against a wall or whatever.

No, you can't move either SysNAND or EmuNAND directly. You should be able to decrypt your savegames if you dump your movable.sed ahead of time via Decrypt9 or rxTools (protip: dump both Sys & Emu and stick them with your NAND backup somewhere safe).

I'm having problems with themes.

I tried getting themes with CHMM2 via the .cia and all that comes up is just a black top screen with the bottom screen with the A is Install and other buttons.

Is there a specific way you have to put your themes in the Theme folder? I just made a Jet Set Radio folder im Theme and put the theme in and it doesn't read it.

I even used Howling Theme Tool and installed the themes as a .cia but it's not on the theme list either.

I'm on rxTools 10.3 if that means anything. So close to my perfect emunand.

I've done this


1) Download this: https://mega.nz/#!XdMCgA5J!3Vxv4Aejx-iVaZKhItNK-XJjduMqV7vNiH9q0vvAK04
2) Run firmware_download.bat and let it do it's thing.
It first downloads "firm.bin", this is not the end though. Keep pressing space when the program tells you to and it will then close on it's own once it has finished. You'll then be left with a "firmware.bin" file.
3) Place firmware.bin inside \FOR SD CARD ROOT\rxTools\sys\
4) Copy and Paste everything inside the "FOR SD CARD ROOT" into the root of the SD card
5) Put the SD card into your 3DS
6) Open Homebrew Launcher (Hold L when turning the 3DS on)
7) Open EmuNAND9

but EmuNAND9 doesnt appear in the homebrew menu. Am I missing something?

I fixed it by deleting the emuNAND profile from the root /Nintendo 3DS folder and booting it again so it creates the profile again.

Backup the folder before you delete it and then copy back the title folder again once you have everything running.

So, after a few hiccups, I followed the retard guide and my 3ds is now hacked, my NANDs are unlinked, and my emuNAND is updated to 10.3. Awesome.

That being said I still have a couple of questions:

Should I redisable the auto-DNS settings on emuNAND? I had to enable it to update.
It's staying off in sysNAND.

Also, should I only install or change themes using homebrew channel or is it ok to use the theme manager in emuNAND?

EmuNAND, in this context, refers to making an EmuNAND to run pirated WiiWare/VC off of (usually through a USB Loader). The benefit being that it allows for more space than the typical sysnand limit of 512MB, allowing you to install more WiiWare. Granted, there's not really that much worthwhile WiiWare to install anyway, and certain games (such as Castlevania Rebirth) only work when installed to sysnand.


IMHO, go with the non-alt version. Plug and play is not much of an improvement, and is not worth losing emunand compatibility over.

Probably yes. Gateway is honestly mostly obsolete at this point. The only real advantage it has is that you can copy .3ds files onto it, which is faster than installing .cia files, but if you're remotely competent then this shouldn't matter at all.

Don't know if I'm wrong on this (correct me if so) but if you get a soft-brick while trying to downgrade you'll have to enter to your 3ds through Recovery Mode and you'll need to update it to the last firmware and if 10.4 patchs the entrypoints to HBL you won't be able to downgrade anymore.

Also, they might install that thing in the browser that tells you to update if you enter to it without the YTHax DNS.

Plenty, but I can't point you to a specific one. When I frst started making themes, I had used like 3 different tutorials because it was all still being discovered. I know you need the program called YATA+ to make the themes though. Best bet is to look up something like "3DS custom theme complete guide."

A bunch of reasons.

I got some nosy roommates, so I happen to get caught or if they go looking through my stuff, I can just turn it off and it will appear to be a normal 2ds and hide the SD card if necessary.

I know it's me just being paranoid.
I also know that if I fuck up in the future, there will be no way to replace the progress I've made if browser hax gets disabled.

Finally got everything set up just need to eventually get a larger sd card as 16gigs is probably not enough.

It supports Menuhax, but not natively. You need CtrBootManager or similar. This is exactly the same state as rxTools.

A native Menuhax auto-boot would let you skip the whole Menuhax loader/screens changing color/*hax debug, speeding up boot and hopefully being more reliable.

I dont advise it but I was having the same issue. I just browserhax then I installed menuhax. Held L and ran pasta. as soon as the screen went black I held L again. Now you are booted with pasta enabled. Fbi should work fine.

I'm currently setting up autoboot for 9.2 RX. I'm at a step where it is asking me to select "complete emuNAND setup" in Emunand9. When I select it, it says "starter.bin cannot be found" it gives me the option to continue, I just want to know if it's safe to do so. I'm probsbly just being overly paranoid but I just don't want to fuck anything up.
