I've come to the conclusion that basically two people here are bitching about Vanar. Not even r/Duelyst is crying about it

The only one's I've had a miserable time with in the current meta is the Songoloids and Abysshits, and that's mainly just because Songhai always ignored positioning and aggro Abyssian is fairly hard to play around.

Haven't seen a lot of Vanar, though.

They were a timebomb waiting to happen, like current eight gates full spells songhai. They got the hilariously broken spell that made magmar broken early game for no reason. Fenrir is probably the best minion is the game and keeper of balance works wonders in vanar. If people don't complain about it they might be retarded.

Here is a rank 0 songhai deck, updated to fit the current ladder meta. Standard OTK fox deck, but I've fine tuned it a lot over the course of the month.

substitute-able cards:
>ghost lightning
mini-jaxes, more vanar on ladder since buff = more jaxes

>tuskboar + juxta
can bring units away from lyonar to wail on, or send a provoke minion far away

>juxta + any creature + mask of shadows
can kill pretty much any early threat, or help you get behind the enemy general if you juxta a pig. there are a lot of early combos that can net huge value, and most don't require the key components of the fox combo.

Anyway, I'm tired of songhai and am mostly playing vet nowadays so I thought I'd share. Thoughts?

I'm reading what I wrote and nothing seems accurate. My memory sucks I guess but seriously that was too long of a match. I had the life lead the entire time and he just wouldn't stop. I was actually at 21-25hp and he was under 9hp for a long time until the last two turns.

How does the first win of the day system work?
I had it this morning, but have been busy all day and still can't play.
Will I loose much wealth?

Personally, I strongly dislike that one faction (Songhai) may as well be just be a Solitaire minigame. The opponent inputs don't matter, the board doesn't matter. Why are they even part of the game?

Also, I dislike RNG triggers, and the currently best 2 drop (Jaxi) is one of the worst offenders. RNGesus can just win you the game with this card and it has hardly anything to to with you outplaying your opponent.

There's also a 5 drop (Keepr of the Vale) that's far to efficient for its cost too.

Whatever happens in the next patch will tell me if I'm willing to invest into this game or not.

Depends. You best card in any Token deck is Shadowdancer anyway. If you can keep it safe, Plasma Storm/Tempest will only screw the Mag/Lio player.

2 mana for nullifying one creature for a turn, 4 damage and draw a card, 2 damage dispel that affects units immune to spells. It's way too much when it starts hitting you all at once.

Songhai is a different case since they cannot be compared with anything as a design choice, but right now vanar is miles better than vet and lyonar. Vet is a one trick pony that you can chromatic without a single fuck and lyonar gets fucked early by fenrir and late with hailstone prison. Vanar has the best removal, the best minions and it's the second best faction when it comes to abuse keeper.

If I dispell it he still leaves the 3/3 body there, which is already a fair deal since dispels aren't cheap and the body is still good. It needs a dispell and a removal to deal with him, and he's a 3 cost minion. Not even portal guardian was this bad.
Vanar doesn'r need lategame threats, no one gives a flying fuck about lategame threats in this game, we are reaching the point where playing a 6 mana minion is risky as shit since you are investing your turn in summoning only one body. Vanar lives for the razorback anyways so it's just more efficient to summon a bunch of 2-4 mana minion and buff them to oblivion. I don't have a problem with dispelling, I have issues with bodies left in the field. And guess what, last patch made it impossible to AOE things so I can't do shit against them.

Why are you playing 6+ mana minions? The only viable 6+ mana minions that have ever been are makator/elder/archon, most factions best minions are 5 mana or less. a vanilla 3/3 is nothing and dispells are cheap what are you talking about? 0 mana global dispell is 0 mana, 2x2 dispell is 2 mana come on anon even a 2 drop can kill fenrir if he is dispelled.

There is still plenty of strong aoe in this game, it's no longer a free boardwipe though which is good.

Honestly just go play abyss facerace if you hate vanar that much, vanar struggles greatly with high aggro although its not nearly as bad as last patch thanks to chormatic cold, early removal that vanar desperately needed.
