Hey /fog/, I'm really starting to stress out here. I'm currently making new textures to create a schoolgirls dress based off the mini-dress mod. Now I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the load order, I'm correctly doing the cbbe process correctly but this problem still persists even after uninstalling then reinstalling the mod.

Am I the only one who tries to standardize the minutmen at the fort? I have a system set up for how everyone is equipped.

It does kinda bug me seeing NOBODY here even attempting to port things and share them. Its like I wrote that tutorial in the OP for nothing.

I thought about writing a tutorial on how to port models from NV / FO3 to FO4, and linking all the tools needed and the workflow of how I do one, but it would be like a 100 - 150 step guide and I don't think anyone would even attempt it out of laziness, it being too intimidating, or fear of failure. It varies from settlement to settlement, but I like to have a general theme of at least two doors for the entrance, one of which is a heavily reinforced and secure door, and the other one a regular looking door to conceal the other one and make it look less suspicious.The entrance is fortified with several shotgun turrets, and then I always have one room with a desk and a terminal, usually hidden away somewhere that feels secure.

Okay, I think I fucked something up here.

I use NMM because I'm just getting into modding at the moment.

I went through the video Gopher put up on youtube to alter the .ini files to allow for modding, and it worked for two days, but the game won't load any of my mods any more. I had a big place built in Starlight that was all done up with Homemaker, and now I just have a ton of floating platforms in space. The game's telling me the files aren't there any more.

Please tell me how stupid I am and how I fucked up, /fog/. I'm guessing I have some mods that conflict with one another, but I'm not sure how to tell which ones are compatible with Homemaker.

Well what I did was I did most of the side quests in the game and all of the 4 factions main quests up until you need to make a choice with one or more of them.

I then made multiple saves and finished with all endings.

Imo, Institute ending is the best, but with minutemen ending you can have 3 of the 4 factions available post-game.

How would you fix the leveling system, /fog/?

Personally, i would bring back skills, but some people might complain that it's not tied to your SPECIAL stats or that it promotes minmax powergaming.

I thought of it like this:
You have the same chart as in Fallout 4, except you CAN'T manually upgrade your SPECIAL stats and instead of perks you have skill, each skill being under their respective special stat.

You could level the skills under each special stat depending on the special stat level, if you had low intelligence, you could only allocate few points to intelligence skills, and viceversa.

However, throughout the game, you run across various books, magazines and characters that can "teach you new stuff" and up your SPECIAL stats.
Reading a lot of books might increase your charisma and intelligence stats, and meeting a survivalist character might increase your endurance stats.

This would also encourage exploration, because in Fallout 4 all you have to do to make your character better is get a radiant quest and kill a bunch of raiders / ghouls / supermutants and choose what SPECIAL you want to level up.

Also, like in New Vegas, you get to choose perks every two levels, but they're going to be just side-stuff, not core mechanics in the game like in Fallout 4.

I would remove the "skill perks" from the level up tree and replace them with the type of perks you'd get in the base games. Your SPECIAL scores would still effect your skills how it does. Skills would be leveled by using them, picking a certain amount of locks would grant the next lockpicking skill perk, shooting gunslinger/rifleman/commando guns would gradually unlock the next ranks, etc. The amount required to grant the next perk would be based on your Int and whatever stat governs the skill.

Really simple: make the damn game actually use these perks. Currently, perks has very little connection to the world, they mostly serve as badges on the player's coat. I'm sitting on 11 (!) unspent perks, and don't feel like I missed anything.

And that's not even being lazy or careless, I simply don't need to spend them. Sure, I could use some extra sneak and weapon damage, but I'm doing fine without them. Basically, I took the core perks I planned my char around, and that's it.

Still, I like the current concept but it's hard to take it seriously without SPECIAL / perk checks and more reflective world / combat mechanisms. The removal of skills wasn't inherently a misstep, but Beth should prove it happened for a reason.

Make every perk an actual perk that is useful and not in the sense of ''Hurr more damage''. Make it so you get a perk maybe every forth/third level depending on the max level that you can achieve. Bring back tag skills and their faster increase rate and maybe lower the amount of skillpoints you get per level.
