Wiki is your friend. Reccomend jobs for a first timer is Cargo Tech, Chef, and Janitor. Those 3 jobs are fairly simple and give you some stuff to do. Chef is the most fun for me because you can really cook up some fun stuff, just look on the wiki for recipes and see which ones you want to make. Janitor will let you get more used to the station layout as you will travel around slot and most departments will let you in to clean. Cargo tech can also let you run around the station if you are delivering things but you can also learn more about using machines like MULEs and consoles, how to send items using disposals, and how to hack things. (Hint: order and electrical maintenance kit then practice hacking the mules so you can make them go faster and ride them, check the hacking guide on the wiki.) From there you can branch out. Try not to be an ass and most people will be fine with a new player.

I'm turning some roles off after this round. The whole service and civilian besides botany were utter greytiders. To top it all off, the detective was worse than any security officer I've ever seen, doing no detective work, being clueless to situations, and retardedly getting people stripped in halls.

Just a tip: your other machines don't really do much. You'll mainly be using your microwave and the deepfryer, and on top of that defending the kitchen against little shits that can't wait another 5 seconds for their pizza, want the mime gibbed because he tripped them and farted in their face, or just want your knifes. Give them a bonk with your rolling pin. The microwave is where you create all the actual food, the deepfryer and grill add to the food (corn oil from the fryer makes the food more filling, haven't tested the grill yet) and you can use the other stuff to turn your food into other stuff like pies, cereal and candy.
