Yes there is a problem.
THAT WAS GOING TOO FAR WITH THAT SILLY PRANK
Love you anon-kun :3
>post gets deleted
>he gets buttmad and posts it again
YOU'RE SERIOUSLY TRYING THIS SHIT NOW BUDDY
DAMN SON YOU GO BALLS
48 man overwatch: https://a.pomf.cat/gcgtoc.webm
Memester's panic grenade here too
Can't thank you enough for this.
It's better that way. Good things are better in controlled amounts.
>Game is obviously too easy, let's give lighting reflexes to everyone
It's gonna be LW all over again
>>The game did NOT crash in any of that.
That's quite impressive indeed.
>>Beagle is happy that the VOD survived.
You need troops for the base defense, but otherwise perfectly viable with techs.
just got enemy within
r8 my starting squad
my support happens to be from germany
No they just need to fix the fact it prioritizes either running or rezzing a dead guy over shooting. They will literally never shoot if there is someone for them to resurrect even if someone is standing four feet away from them.
>>Beagle coming here.
He has a lot to catch up.
bagle is going to get burnt out on xcom2 at this point.
are they really letting him stream/have this 3 month build until launch? a day or two is a good idea for a little tease but i dunno, seems like a bad idea to let people see TOO much of the game.
I guess its a good thing that they're confident about the game. Can't imagine other devs doing something like this
So how would you name a Cobra unit for the squad considering you don't know most of their names? Same for the Desperados. The Boss is the easy one because she has two monkiers but I can't think of how to do The End or The Sorrow and any Desperado except for Sam.
If they don't get upgrades over time they definitely need a buff.
Resurrect should be an AOE and the sectoid should get either more health or an extra action if they don't move before using it.
Twitch chat is the kind of thing that will always be this way with a sizeable base of people watching with chatting priviledges. You either hate it or love it, but if you hate it you should probably learn to live with it, otherwise it's going to bother you more than it really has any right to
I'm assuming that the first half of your post can be explained by the second half. The amount of freedom they're allowing with the first three months pretty strongly suggests that the game really opens the fuck up after that point, and since their promises about modding potential (the main 50 gigs of which Beagle didn't even have access to) are seemingly for once not bullshit just for /hype/ buzzwords, I think we can be cautiously optimistic
Tbh it seems like they genuinely wanted to make a good game with this one. I wonder if its a bid to try and revitalize an iconic and well loved game franchise to cash in on the big bucks and Make Gaming Great Again
I used to despise Twitch Chat but one year of watching Forsen later and I literally have at least an hour of gachi music on my phone and regularly spam emotes with certain friends in messenger conversations
No ragrets, embrace cancer
It's actually probably why they gave him the game
It's the best advertising they could get
"LOOK HOW MODDABLE XCOM 2 IS EVERYONE, IT'LL BE JUST LIKE SKYRIM, GO BUY IT NOW"
If we don't end up with half a dozen shitty games journo articles about this within a week I'll be shocked
Go watch some of Solomon's older interviews. He literally has an unhealthy love for this franchise and desperately wants to do it proud. Even the the first game was a great success he got super shaken up when one of the original people that worked on old UFO defense said something to the effect of it just being 'alright'.
I can't stress enough, he wants to make this perfect and Firaxis seems like they're giving him full reign on this with it being PC exclusive and all.
>THE LITTERAL CAPITAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA
It really is the best advertising
If I wasn't such a good goy already, I'd sure as fuck get the deluxe edition after seeing this stream
Probably helps that the game is fun to begin with
What's funny is the premier "modding experience" franchise people think of on PC is Bethesda's TES/Fallout with Guns games and they never manage to launch with the toolkit anywhere near ready for release
Meanwhile Firaxis casually let you change entire swathes of the game with an easy ini edit
It's almost as if most developers aren't even trying.
Any advice for Long War? I've played classic EW until around when Muttons arrived and got bored with it being fairly easy.
Also. how fucked in difficulty would it be to give myself 12 soldiers available in every mission?
Beagle is an old time youtuber that's been mostly playing tactical shooters. I believe he first became popular with the Arma 2 shacktac community videos, and has since built a large following by playing and streaming XCom. He occasionally also plays shit like R6/FO4/other assorted shit, but XCom is his favorite game.
He's also a funny standup dude and deserves every bit of popularity he has and then some
Other than the novelty factor, it was truthfully very boring. I tuned out after a few minutes. Unless you like watching 48 soldiers gang up on a few aliens with 0 tension involved, you aren't missing much by just seeing the webm.
t. someone who didn't pour hundreds upon hundreds of hours into the first modern xcom
The novelty factor was enough to entirely carry that portion of the stream and made this stream the best he's done in long while. plus memes
wew lad, if he wasn't funny and enjoyable to watch he never would've gotten here in the first place
Don't know what you mean by that post desu desu, are you assblasted about anything in particular?
I have 100% on XCOM and played Long War through a few times. I mean... yeah, it was cool to see that the engine handled the ini tweak well, and the fact he can accomplish that with so little effort is fucking awesome, but watching it wasn't very fun past the first few seconds.
Things are already bad enough as they are for us to afford even more failures.
Hahahahaha its him XD
That was quite intense to watch. These 'Vanilla' missions are their own thing alright.
VOD of Beagle's 24-man stuff: https://mega.nz/#!5wdwzYQA!uZ2KE7gPikfCf37Bu-uZ80kmPMwG35s64dRtwO6lGHg
Starts around 2:00. Goes up to (not including) where he turned it up to 48. Hopefully someone else downloaded that or Beagle started local recording at that point.
>Beagle actually extracting
I can't believe it, what does it mean...
He was in a bad position. It was the sensible thing to do.
It was only a matter of time after he 'discovered' that he had the EXALT mask all along.
Of course I mean his play in EU-EW
I also remember one when he meet the first medium in LW on youtube but cant be arsed to find it, surely there's more that I forgot
He always fucking extract when he see it as necessary
I cant find the one where he fight his first landed on LW innawood but if I recall right, all that happen is a bad pull, someone almost die and he just say "fuck it, time to go"
So not really different from last mission
Yeah wrong vid, here's another after a few minutes of browsing
>>THIS WHOLE MISSION
>>Only TOW Operatives ready.
Time to get reinforcements.
he could use some heavier weapons.
Next part of the LN when? S2 WHEN?!
Well, there is a world out there that needs a retaking.
>Beagle doing better as Exalt than he ever did as XCOM
Thanks but I meant a Second Season of
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru. Is he going to continue making LnI videos by the way?
DON'T JINX IT
That was quick. Such a dedication.
>CAN EXALT BE STOPPED ? CLICK TO SEE 10 REASONS WHY WE'RE FUCKED
what anime should I watch if I want to improve my ability to break los
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru and Synohogear.
Oh good. I was worried there was just one file and if you wanted to add characters from another pool you had to either do it manually or overwrite the previous one completely.
HIROE GET OFF YOUR LAZY ASS
for those wondering, the Andromedon just comes back to life after you kill it once, the pilot's dead but the suit works. 18 health for both forms on Legendary, not sure about armor on the first form
I just got into june with my normal/ironman run, I can do the base assault, my regular squad has carapace+light plasma or lasers for the most part, but I don't have a really good backup squad since they got massacredin a mission that went south. Should I do the base assault now, or wait? I know it gets harder the longer you wait.
The Gatekeeper seems like an enemy I'm really going to enjoy blowing to bits many, many times.
exalt bandannas are one of the customization options. beagle got a random soldier with one of them and after he dodged a lot of lucky shots he decided to theme all his troops after exalt. said squad has done the best on beagle's modded legendary so far and aced a terror mission with 2 rookies
The EXALT bandana is one of the lower face props soldiers can use. Beagle starts a fresh Legend+ game after vietnam shenangians, and after a mission or two was informed that one of his dudes had it. Heinrich "Glitch" Bauer then proceeded to streamroll in every mission he was in, prompting Beagle to dress up the whole squad like the were EXALT.
To quote an anon from last thread, EXALT were post-human supremacists that weren't ever in cahoots with ayylmaos, they were a rival faction to XCOM that didn't shy from freely using the alien tech without any moralfags like
I had tons of Beagleluck in the terror mission.
Almost alwasys could overwatchtraß aliens, almost all overwatch shoots hit, almost all normal shot hits and didn't run into a faceless.
>sims not stims
oops, guess I just went straight to SC1 there. I now we have them in vanilla, but apparently not in the first 3 months since I've never seen Beagle mention them on stream.
Sims? As in, AR missions? Where's my glorious tang tank bath?
Somewhat, but you get them via loot drops instead of achievements. Some examples of PCS you can get include stuff that increase HP, improve movement, increase Aim, and other stuff.
>But you can't use them
You can hijack them for an entire mission if your Spec is skilled or lucky enough. That's even better.
It's not about making MECs. It's about TAKING MECs.
Technically meld was dropped from the ayys ship
Since there is no ayyrgame anymore they're probably just storing it safely
>So flashbang everypony
Seems that Beagle is a closet brony.
Explained why i found, after google his nickname , 2 MLP pictures of him and his girlfriend.
Are people really arguing being able to sometime hack mecs is better than having them? That's pretty silly. On multiple levels considering the dlc is probably related to this.
Shen's last gift will be the ability to make dead soldiers that we manage to extract from the battlefield into MECs by sticking their brains into robots, the first one we get will be Shen himself.
Be honest, anon. Before Long War, MECs were just the same shit over and over again, no matter who you chopped. This way, you get the satisfaction of turning one of your enemy's greatest strengths into an asset for yourself.
This guy is:>>128093872
And yes even vanilla mecs were cool, you don't need long war to enjoy having mecs. Frankly I'd rather have them in the base game with exosuits being "mec light"
The gameplay mechanics would be cool too becasue they wouldn't get concealment so bringing them on some missions would be risky while missions where you don't star in concealment would be a good op for them.
A few days ago I started an OpenXcom FMP series as I finally got nightly builds working - last episode I sucked hard balls and had a total wipe terror mission in Russia.
So keeping up with my once every two days updates - here is episode 3.
Only now do I realise it was a lab ship, but it should have been enough to pull me back from the edge of having to restart and try again.
There was mention of a Rogue AI on the Avenger. It's probably Shen and he will almost certainly be the first one MECed. Although he will almost certainly just be another engineer rather than soldier.
yup. looks like firaxis actually delivers. I halfway expected a bugged out mess that requires LW to become useable again. But seeing beagle struggle is kinda refreshing. Looks like they go in the right direction.
While there are a few graphical bugs it's practically bug free compared to other releases.
Do people actually expect perfect cameras with cinematic closeups in a strategy game? Like, really? Maybe that would have been possible if they kept with linear hand-crafted levels and pared them down even more to something like The Order 1886 (HEH), but the moment they went procedurally generated there was no way. I'm surprised they work as well as they do all things considered.
That's bound to happen when you're only able to play the first 3 months in game
Go play the first 3 months of any other X-Com game over and over again and tell me that it's not getting stale
"hard" is pretty hard in this case
either way you're going to get a few months in and realize just how badly you've fucked everything over
I'd suggest starting on normal then moving to classic the first time you abandon your run
The RNG is nudged in your favor.
The RNG is a lot less nudged in your favor.
The AI actively cheats, the pods(spawns) are bigger and enemies have more health.
Same as classic but a lot worse.
The game suffers from an inverse difficulty curve, meaning the first few months are the roughest- you soldiers are pretty shit, their equipment is pretty shit, upgrading takes a while while ayys start fielding dangerous stuff quickly- but the further you get, the easier it is. So for a complete first timer, yes, classic is pretty hard. Depends on how used you are to that sort of game, obviously.
So by the looks of things, the only real flaw we can find with XCOM 2 is that the initial conceal Overwatch is a bit too easy to abuse. Am I correct?
Everything else looks like a vast improvement over EU.
I'd say the only other thing would be the HP bars being a bit hard to make out, but aside from that yeah, everything looks fucking great and I can happily say that i have little to no concerns, especially since so much gameplay has been shown you know what you're getting.
I mean it's easy to abuse in the way Beagle is doing it. He sits right on the edge of the detection range, goes into Overwatch, and the aliens just walk into a death trap and lose their turn.
I dont think thats a flaw.
We have only seen the first part of the game, its entirely possible that after 3 months the game becomes unplayable because of bugs and retarded design decisions.
But realistically, yes ofcourse its better than EU, its a game made with a PC-first attitude.
>literally no pods anywehere
>go to the edge of the map since civilian died there
Has he met any of the new Lids yet? Jake said that you will need specific counter measures to detect them so it would seems that the aliens have some sort of stealth units planned. Otherwise, they can have elite variants of Advent units that are similar to Invisible Incs high tier guards that throw scanners fucking everywhere they go.
>hit it with explosives
>it needs to spent the next turn standing up again
I can dig it.
>I don't have line of sight here
What the fuck.
Its just the next "mustplaynao" game after fo4. Im not breaking my nopreorder thing because of one game.
Will buy it on day-one if it doesnt have any heavy problems like killing pc's or having anti-modding drm on it.
I know this isnt EA or Ubisoft but still, i cant trust any of the big publishers anymore and 2K isnt too mod-friendly with gtav...
Just way too many possible problems to risk it.
Too good to believe. I mean, editing things is nice but we are yet to see if adding new things is possible.
I may have trust issues, thanks to certain big publishers incompetence.
>but we are yet to see if adding new things is possible.
They've outright said the game is so moddable that if people wish they can reimplement turn units and larger squad sizes. Some of the first mods I can guarantee will be Halo and Space Marine armors.
>having anti-modding drm on it
If you know that little about this game why are you even here?
From the first fucking panel they've been trumpeting the fact that they're giving away 50gbs of assets, dev tools and source code.
Over the course of me playing the game, i'm going to double the amount of aliens. And i do mean new models, abilities, everything. I'm going to make this game a dream come true.
Its a pc-only game for now, modding is a core feature days, ofcourse they are going to hype with it. I dont trust anything they say.
But it does seems like they prepped things for the most obvious first mods, like for larger squads with the scrollable unit list on loadout screen.
Gotta say I like the new plasma weapons. The slow moving projectiles of XCOM2012 were goofy and the weapons looked awful.
This time plasma weapons look at least a bit better but more importantly they seem to have some "oomph" into them.
Are there any other good grid based tactics games like firaxis xcom out there?
I've already played Massive Chalice (shit), Hard West (meh) and Banner Saga (good but not because of the combat)
Desperately need something to fill my tactics thirst since I just finished a long war run
>dozens of weapon accessories that do the same but look different
there are quiet a lot of possibilities but if fo4 mod tools come out at the same time...
ja2 with the mod. Old as shit, looks like garbage, takes hours to get to work but if you believe in "filling in the blanks with your own creativity" its great.
There arent many tacticool strategic games that are more complicated than move/shoot.
Beagle, if you're reading this I only ask that you don't give up on the OpenXCOM campaign.
We have more than enough time to watch XCOM2 footage, you can stream it for as long as you want and it'll be better once the actual game comes out.
The OpenXCOM campaign is awesome and I'd hate to see it cancelled.
When i watched only parts were muted.
He threw on a vietcong playlist while he did the VietCOM thing. Its ok, most of the muted parts are just "xcom soon" screen while he is editing text files.
Probably just me, but it seems like a mistake to play the unfinished and buggy version to death when we're so close to release. At least he's having fun though.
Im too far at LW, the game keeps dragging because I want a Firestorm fleet that is capable of taking on Very Large UFOs.
These missions are getting out of hand. My S-Team is the only group able to take on landed UFOs from up from medium, terror missions are now called slaughterfest 2017 and alien abductions are BDSM meetups. I've just survived base assault and lost half of my guys holding the line for 2 hours, I even lost my double nigerian engineer twins. R.I.P Kayodes.
I literally cannot train anything below Corporal anymore due to some faggot alien always sensing their presence.
This must be why XCOM 2 is canon, I'm simply getting the feeling that I cannot win.
If it is to end, may it end in flames. I will certainly port some guys from this to XCOM 2, so many lucky heroes have been made in this campaign.
>implying firaxis offices arent dead empty until feb.
The game is done, beags is playing the finished version with a cockblocker.
Its balanced for normal players, not for those who played 1000hours with EW.
Skill idea: Fortunate Sons, 1st soldier you promote to colonel gets it
>can be used only once per entire playthrough
>when activated, Fortunate Son starts playing in the background, every soldier gains +50 Defense and +30 Aim for two turns.
>Shen looks like an ugly gorilla
I can't stand this.
Commander, a moment please! Now that we have gotten a good look at the Avenger and our future operations, I think it would be good idea to devise some new strategies & squad setups. Are there any plans you have devised?
