Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny FAQ
Marvelous AQL made the Bokujo Monogatari series, localized in the west as Harvest Moon until Bokujo Monogatari: Tsunagaru Shin Tenchi, which will be published by XSeed games as Story of Seasons.
Natsume owns the name Harvest Moon and made Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, which is unrelated to Bokujou Monogatari.
Forbidden Magna has been released in North America, Europe, and Australia as "Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven".
Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2016
Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale is scheduled to be released in North America in February 16, 2016
Story Of Seasons's EU was released on 31st December, 2015
Old Thread: >>127571161
You know what i would love anons, is if the anon who creates the new threads could advertise the new one in the old like most the generals do to help out because now fussing with going back and forth i some how closed my tabs.
I think they would have if the old thread hadn't died already.
Is a story of seasons fairytale going to just be like story of seasons with its EU release date and just be a surprise date sometime in 2016 or 2017?
Also why even advertise seeds of memory it looks like utter trash, i dont even care that it wasent finish at its preview build it looks disgusting.
SoS Fairytale was announced for EU pretty recently, and according to an Xseed blog entry, they're apparently actually trying to get it out around the same time as the US release this time. But I guess we'll see.
To me from images iv seen on google it looks slightly like its trying to be rune factory but maybe ill give it a try, i even gave lost valley a try and i wasted money.
Just recently started playing Story of Seasons, and powered through to winter in about a week. I opened my farm and got a full 3 people on my farm for once, and after waiting only 15 minutes no less.
It was fun to see that many people running around, but I can't help but feel ripped off when I give out 5 star sweet potato(cousin gifted me those), soybean, and flax seeds and get 5 fodder, 2 iron, and a butterfly in return. I guess I'll have to assume that they were all in spring of their first year or something.
Also, I find it kind of weird that the game doesn't censor certain uh... things that happen on winter 1st during multiplayer. I mean, the grave is right there. It wouldn't take much for a new player to put two and two together.
Should I sell my cowardly and level-headed animals? I got three chickens of which two are active and the third is cowardly and the active ones have six hearts whereas the cowardly has only two even though I bought all three at the same time
Depends on the animal, refer to google spreadsheet for info.
The one I'd want is quantity+1, since it's the only one that matters when you have an animal at 10 hearts.
Chance of HQ byproduct is also useless since safari makes chance 100%.
The "Best" personalities listed under the spreadsheet is actually a chance of byproduct's Star Rating being higher than normal, which is useless when animals reach max hearts.
So for something like chickens, you'd want cowardly.
Raising their heart levels is such a hassle, but I guess it's fine since I already have active chickens to quickly raise the egg quality. So, should I then get rid of my level-headed cows since they are slow to level, though they are already safari level cows? The fucking cow that Eda gave me is two and a half hearts when in comparison the cow that I bought a month later is currently a 9-heart safari cow. I've been talking to my animals, feeding them, brushing them, giving them treats and milking/shearing them.
By the way, can you lose heart levels by taking a level-headed animal to the safari every day?
Short answer is sorta but not really. You only really interact with the maids the whole game and almost no one else. You never go into town outside skits/events/battle.
Longish answer is that since you only have free movement in the inn, the only npcs you'll ever interact with freely is the maids and your two human friends if they're around that chapter.
There's also heart events which you have to pick one maid and basically have a small skit and battle with which unlocks a skill and reflects only a tiny bit on the ending events. Just note you can't go back on the choice which may leave you confused if you mix and match it. For example say you missed Gabbie 2nd event and pick Gabbie's 3rd event, they'll assume you knew what happened in Gabbie's 2nd one and you'll never get her 2nd skill.
Game isn't interesting enough to justify 5-7 playthroughs to unlock everyone's skills or see everyone's final events so pick 2, or preferably one maid you like and stick with it.
If it isn't Lottie/Charlotte then be sure to refuse her once early on or you might mistakenly get locked onto her.
They can just not use them/not create seeds from the resulting crops if they feel it would ruin their experience.
As for myself, I see what you're saying, but I'm more interested in a casual playthrough, so the easy stamina I get from the hundreds of 5* sweet potatoes I got last fall is worth cheating for. I already ruined the legit-ness of my save by save scumming for bricks in spring, so w/e.
There are people who are utter scum like that. Get online, whisk a few plants with wand dust then disconnect. I had plots I needed to have more star points damnit.
Then you get people who will give anything, even of value, when you least expect it. Had an anon here once give me 2 philo stones and her last prawn (really needed this one for bait) in exchange for bricks and some of my max-rank seeds. Even whisked wand dust on all of my plants and animals too. Bless her.
>So, should I then get rid of my level-headed cows
Not him, but am I looking at the list wrong? Level-headed cows are more likely to give more milk, which is the most desirable thing, right?
I don't think it's possible to see your playtime save specific playtime, but you can see how much time you've played RF4 from the 3DS settings, so you can vaguely tell how much time you've played that save by dividing that time by your save files.
I know right? It was only until my chickens started giving different level eggs that I started to investigate the reason. The biggest reason why active ones gain heart levels faster is because of safari trips.
I think it gives affection points to active animals since they like being outdoors, and that's really the only reason I can come up with as to why there exists such a discrepancy between my animals. The safari trips might also actually decrease the heart levels of cowardly ones and level-headed, if you take them too often.
If the list I'm reading is correct and you want to get more milk/eggs/fur, you need to KEEP:
Level-headed Cows and Jersey Cows
Active Zebu Cows
Active Sheep and Suffolk Sheep
Active Alpacas, Brown Alpacas and Lamas
Cowardly Angora Goats
Cowardly Chickens (all breeds)
Cowardly Rabbits (all breeds)
Other personalities will either give you a chance at heart increases or high quality products, which isn't all that important since you can guarantee those through other means.
So I won the summer crop fest with my 3star peaches.
They told that it's now "Bronze" what does this mean? If I get the winery will peach wines be more valuable?
Also I've seen the last rival event for Eda she's so sweet but now I'm scared... She's okay right?
Is the pottery studio worth buying?
I haven't bought the cheese maker yet.
I only have the seeds and the sewing.
Y'all told me Flax is the way to go.
But after I get my flax going what's a good way to get the money rolling in to supplement my fabrics?
I dont get what all y'all are upset about, for me i have one cow, one sheep, two chickens and a rabbit and they all gained hearts prity fast most are at max.
i have two actives one cowardly the restv are that other pone people been mentiooning its the cat who wont just fucking love me.
>Also I've seen the last rival event for Eda she's so sweet but now I'm scared... She's okay right?
The last two countries that come to the trade depot require specific goods to be shipped. Things like furniture, decorations, fences, etc.
If you start collecting lumber and fodder now it'll help you out later.
That's genius. I'm only in my first year, but I think I'll start hoarding stuff like fodder and lumber already. It'd be a pain in the ass if I were already in late game and had to start hoarding them from the beginning.
>OP picture is a drawing by the one artist whose art I can't stand
t r i g g e r e d
Which materials will decrease the RP cost of my farm tools? Every time I water my fields it completely drains me.
Just finished Leon Karnak in RF4 and I feel like I beat the game, but nope. How long is this shit exactly?
I really just want to marry Amber and see how Fall and Winter go, and take it from there I guess.
You can force events though. If you know when an event day is and you saved the night before, have Amber and Dylas in party and go to sleep. If you wake up and both have to leave to go to the flower store, you know you've triggered "Memories," which gets the proverbial ball rolling on Arc 3.
What events would I be looking for? I only know of the calender, and the diary ones I have no idea what they mean or how to do them.
Event days are days with events that are listed in the diary once Frest notices they're going on.
So let's say you get the lame Bado event with "how to make a ton of money." You can go back to the day before, reroll, and a different event will start.
>want to break up
>give bad gifts
>she gets sick for a day
>one requirement is to ignore her for 31 days
>that means missing festivals
Marvelous really laying it on thick. Guilt tripping you AND imposing heavy penalties for trying to break up.
Mostly her work as a novelist, talks of having to meet deadlines. If she is to continue her work, there will be not only no time for the kid, there won't even be much time for family. This is of course looking at it from how the jp's actual, perception, and portrayal of the job.
Also, judging from what little we know about her life and personality, it seems she's lofty and romantic. Probably easy to get caught up in an ideal vision of having a kid / family, but ends up dealing poorly with how reality truly is.
That's just how she seems to me.
Concerns about her career getting in the way of her taking care of kids are valid, I'd say, but overall, I think Iris' motherly instincts would kick in, and she'd put aside the pen to care for her offspring. She's made several comments to me about how she likes to mentor the other young women in town, so she certainly has motherly streak. She's a good deal more calm/mature than some of the other available grills, which is good when dealing with children.
The only girl in town I can see being a horrible mother is Elise, pic related.
Lillie's got some experience from raising her younger sister with her dad, even if she can be a bit of a ditz. Angela is very responsible. Licorice, other than her career potentially distracting her similarly to Iris, would be fine. Agate's very sweet and nurturing to animals, so of course she'd make a fantastic mother.
>She's made several comments to me about how she likes to mentor the other young women in town, so she certainly has motherly streak.
That's more a big sister thing (she also says she likes to dress up the other girls like dolls, etc.). Same thing with Mistel - Iris doesn't mother him, she acts like a responsible big sister.
Pretty sure Elise wouldn't be like that, more like pic related.
If anything, Elise would probably be very concerned about the kid.
You raised some good points, but I would like to disagree on some.
She might have the best work-life balance than most people. She mostly works from home, with the occasional out-of-town commute (meeting with the editor), so she doesn't waste much time traveling. Also, it's not like she's the only one handling family stuff. You're working from home too you know (with your workplace being your farm, and your home is the farm).
Also take note that she had to take care of Mistel while juggling with responsibilities from her work, so at least she has a firm grasp of taking care of family. Do note that because of this, she hasn't had much luck in romantic encounters, with only one confirmed by Iris herself (and a fish autist to boot). Her being guarded towards your advances only confirms this insecurity.
She is quite knowledgeable and crafty, confirmed by her dialogue and the sunday program on Oak Tree Channel, so at least she can distinguish between fantasy and reality. She strikes me more as a realistic romantic than anything else.
>tfw 6.6 million
Only 3.3 to go to get that useless fucking sword and buy Doug's love
I don't have access to it yet. Can you get Cooking Bread+ from random chests or is it only a boss/monster drop?
That's what I figured. I'm making okay headway with Preludes to Love and Pizza anyhow.
Go read Dungeon Meshi
I had most of the ingredients and could sell it for 4k over the shipping rate. Before that was Cabbage Cakes that had nearly 50% profit over shipping rate but I was only getting 1-2 leeks per plant and I had to buy flour for them every few days.
Hot Juice is nice but is limited by how many Purple Leaves you can harvest from the Forest each day.
Prelude to Love turns the humblest profit (2-3k) but the ingredients are plants that you can harvest over and over.
Pretty much yeah. Just rinse and repeat that until it works.
there anything else in the way of perks apart from the obvious with having the top wedding over the middle wedding? because i way i think of it is i have a bit over it and with getting the middle once ill have a bit left over the build up on to get the last home upgrade.
Go for hammer first, even though watering can is likely your most used tool.
The quality of your hammer affects the chances you have of getting rarer drops, like gold, so once you've got your gold hammer, you'll find more gold, and be able to upgrade the rest of your tools more quickly.
You've only got one wedding, I'd say make it special and wait for the house upgrade, even if it is just a video game.
I think the benefits of the more expensive wedding are more guests attend and you'll pop out kids faster than after cheap weddings.
>Finish Act 3
>Expect emotional Dialogue and closing credits
>All I get is "thanks man"
>mfw going through all that effort for little pay-off
Art students are so pretentious, when I went to London for my birthday in the autumn there was a bunch of them in Hyde park taking pictures of leaves with friends and family with there "costs more than my home, cameras"
not like i want to do photography, but cameras are expensive im so envious.
Aren't camera parts cheaper in Europe anyways? You should be fine, Canada has been in the shitter for so long that I have to wait until I get back home to the States in order to get some new lens.
That "anime isn't art" mentality is bullshit. Thankfully, only a minority of people (mainly in art education) seem to have it.
They said photography wasn't art when it was first invented as well.
I think a large part of the discouragement of anime-style art is to try to ward off the rash types who think they can jump straight to drawing qt anime girls without a solid background in perspective, anatomy, construction, etc.
Generally if you prove can draw, no one cares how stylized you choose to draw.
Im saying that i enjoyed the middle price wedding.
Just give him aqll your loveing anon.
A camera that id strive for would be expensive and they can get to 5000 even here, i love photography i have a slight knack for it.
>reminder that Elise is the most tragic of waifus
>inferiority issues deeply rooted from her sister
>parents don't love her
>won't even show up to her wedding
>left her to rot in the middle of a dead/dying town with no expectations of her reviving it
>the town becomes bustling but not by her hands
>her inferiority issues only deepen as you rise as the town beacon
Makes me sad to see people hate her for her face value, really.
>tfw she actually gives MC some credit for revitalizing the town
I was shocked. And this is just some random dialog too, not an event.
Don't do this to me anon, please tell me that you can still make her happy if you didn't romance her.
I haven't played Story of Seasons past the first year because of /rfhmg/. Are the boys actually good/is it true that most people have to reset because if you mess up with getting bricks and stuff, you're fucked?
>Are the boys actually good
They're nothing special.
They're cute enough during their flower scenes, but outside of that the dialogue is so minimal there's nothing to endear them to you.
Same for the girls then, for the most part?
That's a shame. Is everything else at least worth trying?
I mostly just want to know if I have to rush to max out the grandma or if she just automatically dies no matter what.
>Don't do this to me anon, please tell me that you can still make her happy if you didn't romance her.
Complete all her rival events.
But my headcanon of her after years would have to be that her father eventually withdraws her from Oak tree town and marries her off to another noble family with reviving Oak tree town as her selling point.
She's got a few cute lines after marriage as well. I remember there being dialogue of MC imagining Elise mud-wrestling or something during a honey moon.
automatically dies on Winter 1, Year 1. It's not that hard to get all of her events before then, I didn't know about it until Fall, and managed to get everything within 2 weeks.
Fuck, then. Guess I'll restart in a bit. I feel like playing Seedling but I'm afraid it might be a bit too easy. Anyone here who played it that way?
This is what I get for playing MFoMT for so long.
There's no shame in playing seedling especially since the only difference is early stamina consumption and the lowered requirements to unlock all the countries.
I regret not going seedling.
That's what throws off enjoyment of HM: the fear you'll screw something up irreversibly, like causing people to leave or rivals to make their move first in FoMT, to not getting certain errands done in time in SoS.
I know you dont hear this often but, is there any glitch that involves falling through the world? because my Suffolk sheep is just gone, i just thought of a solution but seriously this is bullshit do games like these even have contingency plans for this sorts thing?.
The difference is, dudes like the RF milfs because they like big boobs, which most of the actual waifus lack. Women, however, want what they can't have for the mere reason that they can't have it (often because someone else has it, but not always). If he was a husbando he would be mostly ignored, like that other lazy older bum Sosuke in ANB.
Edaevents and picking wrong partner, I don't think there is a single thing that you can fuck up irreversibly.
Even if you kill your first animal, let all your crops dry up, blow all your beginning cash on drugs, and fail to build a seed maker for 5 years straight, you can still turn everything around year 6 and become a successful emperor in just a few years.
How would everyone be on the first wedding night?
>excited for everyone's dialogue
>instead it's one of those unofficial town events
>everyone but shoe is talking about jumping out of airship, completely ignoring her
Hey /rfhmg/ sorry that I've dissapeared for so long, I still lurk this general but I haven't been drawing for you guys.
I'm mostly drawing for another general right now
I have finally gotten SoS however so I might get back into drawing for this general though I'm busy getting my first batch of flax done (thanks for the flax empire tips)
I do have this quick doodle though, from a few days ago! It's just my farm girl. I like making her look like Ranko Kanzaki at times.
>that awesome drawing
>reverse image search
>artist has deleted their pixiv
for what purpose
Is it just me, or is SoS kinda slow to start?
Probably seems that way because of the stamina and the set of tools that you have.
You mean what general?
Yeah that's me!
And there's not much to do. Watering everything, taking Hanako out (the cow), and then waiting for the evening to put the cow back in and water everything again.
I didn't do that combo but I do have lest and shoe
>Sudden craving for egg out of nowhere.
I still love the idea of Shoe's daughter being competent but relatively pessimistic for some interesting mother daughter bonding.
Wait! I have made OC! Mostly because I want Raeger to have more then one line when he's working.
Doesn't matter too much anyways, just especially the first year you can't get much done on original. Starting the beginning of 2nd year, you can make all the accessory for medium stam recovery and it becomes not too different.
I guess the only other major difference is the shipping requirement to unlock the last two merchants.
>if you want suffering, go original
>And if you're a casual, go seedling
I'm a big shmup and RPG guy and hate to start on anything but Hard, but I do play Harvest Moon games to relax from all that. Leaning towards Seedling to give myself a rest from mushihimesama rounds, but I don't wanna have things too easy.
Ah well, thanks for the help, guys. I'll figure it out somehow.
the only real noticeable change at the start is stamina. And even then on late game hard mode, you regain half a heart every 5 seconds so you never faint. Seedling doubles the store's stock so you can stock in fertilizers easier and finish the country requirements faster. I've played original mode and I think I managed to unlock all countries only after marrying Elise (~ 4 years). I imagine it'd take like 2 and a half to finish on seedling.
But I get where the others are coming from about experiencing the game that was meant to be. Maybe the name seedling puts off people?
How is winter good for black logs? I was getting black logs fine out of safari in fall, winter hits and I stopped getting black logs at all from the tree stumps.
Easiest way to get black lumber for me was to do requests for America, they give it a lot of the time and often 4-6 at once.
>tfw you finally manage to buy the 9999999 gift
I can finally buy things again
>>Sudden craving for egg out of nowhere
Pottery gives good money. If you can manage to get a pottery shed early, hoard those soils and make the Big Jadeite Pot, then cups, plates, bowls, or pots from what's left. They give a consistent profit for every pottery sold.
Wine is also good, but you get the most out of it if you have branded max star rank fruit to turn into wine.
>savescumming with usual party
>occasionally pause to talk to them and see what the dialogue is for a morning
>talking about the bath the day before
You bastards are lewd
Bullshit, women and homos have different taste in body types just the same as men do. Forbidden Fruit adds flavor, but it's not the sole reason they'd like a character like Bado.
Damn. You just made me want something that I didn't know I wanted...
What's wrong with flax? You can grow it during winter too you know?
If you find it too monotonous, then I guess you can make pottery like the other anon said, or maybe make wine.
So SoS players, what is YOUR main source of income? What do you like to do outside of the usual stuff? You got cooks, carpentry, wrapping, pure farmers, mining, etc. Of course you can just do it all, but what makes the game unique to you? I personally like making perfumes and fishing.
I'm not a fan of multiplayer scumming either. In my first Winter I did a lot of fishing and cooking, but the Winter is usually the one time where I don't worry so much about making cash and getting the next request filled or the next trader unlocked, I use it to interact with all the towns people and give gifts, get my FP's up with them and the same with my animals, since during every other season I'm so busy with everything else that those things become things I just try to do when I have enough time at the end of the day or during a festival.
In your first year has any of your Fruit trees grown to where you can harvest yet? Since they always took about a month and a half, and that would usually mean they would be out of season by the time they finally fully grew up they all never would grown in until the second year for me.
Yeah, I planted them rather early.
My peaches were harvestable in mid summer.
I planted lemon trees in summer day 3.
They take a month and a half to harvest so mid fall again.
I fertilize them every day. My peaches were three star and won the summer crop festival.
>I fertilize them every day. My peaches were three star and won the summer crop festival.
I didn't even get the seeds until when they were actually in season, like the Lemon seeds I got the first of Summer and Lemon the beginning of Fall so I didn't get them.
So far flax, but maybe transition to cotton once I get that to 5 stars.
Also been thinking about wine, but seeing as you can only make a maximum or 10 bottles of wine a day (30 slots / 3 day/synth), the money wouldn't be very fast. Does anyone know if you can make multiple winery and do each of them have separate slots?
>Does anyone know if you can make multiple winery and do each of them have separate slots?
Yes, and same goes for all buildings. You can have a damned factory complex instead of a farm if you want.
Now that I've taken a look at the math, it seems like cheese factory is the craziest once you get it rolling.
With just two barns of jersey cows that have gone to the safari, been fed treats, and plat branded, you're looking at 436k worth of cheese a day. If using zebu cows, that's 537k per day.
Compared to wine, if using zebu cows, you'd need 10 full winery to match that kind of output. Advantage is you don't ever have to take care of trees.
Ah, I see.
That's a bit of a bummer, but you have plenty of time to grow and improve them.
Also the seed maker can of course make seedlings so if you want more or to move them elsewhere you don't have to start from shit level.
Yea, I'm just looking forward to when Summer rolls around so I can see my damn trees with fruit on them.
>With just two barns of jersey cows that have gone to the safari, been fed treats, and plat branded, you're looking at 436k worth of cheese a day. If using zebu cows, that's 537k per day.
My lust for a chain of spankings is becoming too painful. I must think of something else.
So yeah, in SoS. Why can't I dig fields outside of the really small and rocky area surrounded by fences?
I've been doing the boring flax route for a while, but now that I have a ton of money I'm trying to do bee/mushroom keeping (and making perfume to raise the quality) . The different types of honey are a nice enough touch but the whole "certain bees need certain perfume" thing is kind of bothersome and hard to remember. But I like the idea of a beekeeping farmer so I'm still trying it
>Growing exact number of flowers to complete request for more seeds
>Typhoon on last day
>Save scum to protect them
>Finally save all 9 of them
>Go to harvest them
>They each produce 3 flowers
Fucked that up big time
>build 60000+ FP with corona
>call carpenter over for help with building
>go to corona's shop everyday to buy materials and comfort her
>she becomes dependent on you both emotionally and financially
>implying she'd be able to face you knowing the incident happened because you requested it
>implying it won't turn into
Elise is a great mother though
In one of her events a cow she's taking care of gets sick and she stresses the fuck out over it, regretting how useless and ignorant she is with regards to taking care of things
Her whole development is overcoming that and trying her best to be a great homemaker when you get married, she even gives away her mansion to the servants iirc
At least she knows how to seize good opportunities. Ditching her house/farm that have probably stayed stagnant for as long as she can remember for one that is turning a middle-of-nowhere town into the major center of trade was a good idea.
Only those with impeccable tastes can appreciate the witch of the Islands.
>bought 1 rabbit
>raised it to 10 hearts while taking it to safari
>5 fur+ per harvest
>need normal furs
>mfw I just realized that you can't breed rabbits
I'm fucked up bad, but who's idea was it that rabbits can't make more rabbits?
Say that to my face and not over the internet you ultimate faget.
i just beat 3rd arc, i think
wheres the option to change venti to loli?
also the very first time i played the game and clicked art galley, it spoiled that shit
Waiting to get all the black lumber for this house is killing my buzz for the game, its bad enough I accidentally got my cow pregnant close to the cow festival because when you press it, it has no prompts. ugh i just want my full house and my kids.
