I am having a lot of trouble with my o3ds though. I get the autoboot to emunand going just fine, but FBI does not show up so I have no way of installing CIAs.

The first time, I was following this pastebin: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji , and I thought well maybe I screwed up somewhere. I started from scratch with the first guide (just using CakesFW instead of RXtools cause RX wouldn't boot, even with the proper o3ds firmware bin), but again, perfect boot to emunand but no FBI.

I am 100% sure I am installing FBI into sysnand before I do the Emunand9 cloning procedure. It worked on my n3ds. I have tried using decrypt9 to inject FBI over H&S, but I cannot seem to launch decrypt9 from emunand. I use browserhax from emunand and launch decrypt9, but launching it just boots me back to the ctrbootmanager, very strange. It works as intended when I launch from sysnand.

Any advice, lads? anyone had a similar problem?

I had a well-intentioned reply that "you must be in sysnand", thanks for the reply and all but I am 10,000% percent sure I am in emunand because my Emunand folder is present (and not there when I boot to sysnand)

FBI is really good software. It's useful because it does a whole bunch of different shit. It installs CIAs from the SD card and wirelessly, it can delete titles too, it even has a ROP installer. But perhaps most importantly it's really verbose when it comes to error messages when it comes to what goes wrong, and it means you can figure out what goes wrong from an error by examining it rather than just having to guess

maybe fuckwits like you should start making use of that last feature when asking for help.

It means online via homebrew isn't possible, because homebrew has no way of installing update.

I have an old 3ds with rx tools installed running 9.2 and I'm trying to unlink my NANDs. I have FBI working and injected and have installed a few games but every time I boot into emuNAND they are giftwrapped, and I've heard unlinking my NANDs will fix that. Do I have to boot into sysNAND from rx tools or can I just boot up my 3ds and format? Will doing so affect my emuNAND in any way?

So you setup autoboot? It claims hold L during Cakes' boot to enter the menu and you could then untick that. I found that seems not to work, so the alternative is simply to delete all of Cake's setting files in the Cakes folder. It will regenerate them you know.

.3ds/.3dz uses rom header to play online (one of the two, i think .3dz? the other format doesn't have the header at all)

.cia files use your 3DS system header, and is likely more difficult for nintendo to catch unless they actively pursuit you for some reason.
