Browser/Iron/Menuhax are working again with 10.3. Anyone interested in playing Cross should get them NOW.
***Downgrading is about as stable as it gets for now. While not without risks, several hunters did report successful downgrades.
memchunkhax2 will enable downgrading any 3DS's firmware to 9.2. Visit Homebrew General for details.

Am I supposed to use an impact weapon for that shit?
Just been boomeranging the shit out of the skull.
Reposting from last thread.
I've 25 tickets and it seems you get to claim 20 free tickets weekly. On top of quests that seems not quite enough to sustain daily play. Is it easy to run out?
So how many more people are playing X in here now. When it first came out there was only 10-15 people playing who were either already 9.2 fags or import fags. The number has to have gone up yeah?
let's find out.
anon >>127945686 here
now that i have slept insufficiently i'll go and fix up things for a proper "do it yourself" kit
and try to figure out what i did correctly
if all goes well you should be able to quickly and comfortably rebuild the update on your own
all you'd have to do is
>add the translation patch data to the patch data
>throw a predefined command line argument into the console
>inject some data quickly and comfortably
>throw another predefined command line argument into the console
the procedure should take a few minutes at most, provided you can read, and cut down install times dramatically by applying update data to the 1.1 update, rather than the base game
Bushido is free Evasion+4, so I don't need to bother with any defensive skills. There's also no G-rank, so the monsters hit like wet noodles and aren't huge damage sponges, so I don't particularly need to stack raw like some tryhard.
>want to change from a male player model, to the female player model?
Not unless you hack, I think some people in this thread did this.
>reaching high rank in caravan but without any guild advancement
That's ok. Just don't neglect GH any further. Doing LR quests with HR equipment is not fun and isn't healthy behavior online.
Unless you want to breed even more carried shitters.
I don't want to hack a bullshit charm or relic. I'm seriously only interested in the sex change. I wouldn't want to cheapen the experience. Every other game I've used cheats in basically immediately lost all of its charm, to the point where I almost completely avoid them so as not to ruin what could be many more hours of fun.
Not much. They're not that different. Slow climbing sucks ass though. Underwater combat is polarizing, some love it, some hate it, you'll just have to try it out yourself.
3rd gen monsters are great though, so you definitely should check it out.
Alternatively emulate P3rd.
Could this thing actually be decent in MHX? 250 raw with 0 affinity, blue sharpness at +1 and white at +2.
MHO is fun.
This really needs to be included in the OP
Montages of almost all the frontier original monsters. Pretty neat.

Oh, hey, you can do a firey slam after the burst jump on gunlance if you press X after it
that's pretty useful to know
Also, does anyone know how the damage works on the Supreme Cannon? Is it like a barrel bomb, or does it hit in multiple parts like WF does?
>make a new set for lancing
>go into 140 double jang gq
>forget to upgrade the armor
every god damn time i make a new set i forget to upgrade the shit until i fail a hunt because of it, other than that great hunts guys! look forward to hunting with you all again!
Can't seem to get that to work on the I variant, so I think you're right about it being III exclusive
Still a useful tool to catch up to monsters, especially since the only gunlance type with any mobility otherwise is aerial
How do I unlock G rank in MHO? There was no main quest anymore after I got into HR, but at the very least I saw 3 stamp looking things on 3 high risk hunts that I painstakingly grinded to get the next board, but now I don't see anything like that anymore. What do I have to do now?
The thing I always notice about people who trash talk Greatsword is that there's seemingly never an alternative mentioned that's supposedly more skillful and respectable, as if subconsciously they realize how foolish they'll sound.
>instead of a 3 minute gap between GS and IG and other weapons, there's now a 5 minute gap between Bow and the next best weapon, with massive gaps within the inferior weapons as well
wow so much better
>there's seemingly never an alternative mentioned that's supposedly more skillful and respectable
There's no need to mention anything because virtually everything in the entire game requires more skill and is more respectable, even mount spamming with an insect glaive. Stop kidding yourself, greatswordbaby.
i'm playing mhx via hacked n3ds, not a legit copy.
i can play online/local play safely or i have to set up shit?
>There is also a chance that the Guild Quest you get is a double monster quest. The more monsters you kill in your Expedition, the higher the chances of a double quest (you can kill up to 5 large monsters in a single Expedition if you are patient enough).

>Not a single double kill quest is offered
Oh yeah dude, now that a charged hit to a weak hitzone isn't a guarunteed stagger with a penalty for overcharge, Greatsword is more overpowered than EVER. It's definitely not an infestation of Tribabbies or even worse Quadtoddlers.
Striker gunlance is actually really fun
sure it fucking sucks to sit at yellow or maybe orange until your Wyvern's Breath is ready, but once it is the pain doesn't stop since you can generally constantly stab and gun-jumping to chase down an enemy just feels so RIGHT. Not to mention the (admittedly hard to use) supreme cannon. It's probably not the best way of playing gunlance, but man if it isn't fun.
Does anybody know of a way to get hunter coupons in MHO without wasting all your money? do you get like 10 every day or is there a way to cheat the system and grind like a fucking madman? i've been going so hard on the paint getting to level 17 and now currently stuck with chapter 5 unplayable at the moment so i really need to get coupons to unlock that shit like i did with the other chapters
some help would be appreciated guys
I dunno, I just really enjoy the maps that just feel like a nice slice of nature. 4U maps didn't feel like that at all. I'm too tired/stupid to explain what I mean but maybe someone will get it.
Don't mind me, just having a varied moveset with hit and run draw attacks, horizontal sweeping attacks, high hitting vertical attacks, seamless combos in near every direction, satisfying weighty animations, head obliteration charge attacks, tail cutting goodness and a general overall playstyle that rewards using a variety of moves, positioning knowledge, timing and commitment. I'll just be soaking in the tears of the Nintendo generation as they clutch their lightsabers and anime product placement gear while they cry understanding their inferiorioty to true, supreme gentlemen.
Lance bros can hang with me, the rest can FUCK OFF
>now that a charged hit to a weak hitzone isn't a guarunteed stagge
Thats why Blast exists!
>grind like a madman
>buying coupons from 400 after buying 4 go up to 1000 silver
That isnt really an option buddy, if i kept buying them i would eventually be only able to get 10 and waste 15000 silver on 15 quests that wouldnt even come close to profiting nearly enough to keep grinding
This is why i want to know if any other experienced anons know of a way to grind the fuck out of this game without taking that pointless route.
doing congalala isnt going to give me more silver than i pay buying coupons is the problem.
4U areas were designed around SnS only since its the only weapon capable of jumping up and down of ledges.
Its laughable now that the fucking chinks of all people are capable of developing actual realistic environments.
Word of advice, buy all the tokens you can every day, but do not use them. It may seem painful to lose all that money which seems like so much early on, but just trust me. You'll want them a lot when you're in HR. As for making money, try grinding Talent tokens from unstable missions when you unlock level 20+ large monster hunts. You don't really have much of an outlet for making money yet, but you'll be able to make ends meet with that method, and always remember to open the login bullshit and milestone rewards in the bottom right.
I'm on the path to unlocking G rank soonish??? And I'm thinking of writing a Google doc guide similar to Aslind Samures except without fucking dropping off before you even get to HR
that seems like considerable advice, ill try it out thanks anon.
There's one thing i still do not understand, not the anon that asked the question about getting coupons im actually curious about another thing. How do you go about unlocking each chapter? im stuck like that anon at level 17 hunting congalalas and i did every quest prior to finishing chapter 4 but i just dont know what to do, do i have to wait a whole day to progress to that point? i just don't know what to do at this point. by not using coupons do you mean wating a whole day to buy them cheap again and then just hold out on quests?
how would that work... can you explain please? i am just so lost.
There's an experience cap per day. If you're nearing the experience cap you'll see a red marker on it that indicates where that experience cap hits, and you'll get a warning message in Chinese when you attempt to redeem a quest that gives experience when you've hit the cap. Sometimes people run into walls early in the game like Groose requiring you to craft some an armor piece or something to that effect, but after that it's mostly just experience cap stuff.
Press L to open your quests menu and look at the quest at the very top. If it has a number listed in there like 18 or something, you probably just need to wait until the daily experience refresh at 11:00am PST. If it's not, then make sure it's set as your priority quest and see where they want you to go. You can uncheck other quests by looking at which quests in that menu have a checkmark next to them, and then selecting them and pressing the left dialog option, conversely that also sets them as priority if they're not. Sometimes other sidequests get set as priority and it can be annoying to find what you need to do for the main quest.
if you're determined to play a true monster hunter game then it shouldnt be that bad, if you really wanna go the extra mile to bypass the language barrier then i would suggest getting google translate on your mobile phone or ipod that way you can just take a picture of the screen and the text in chinese and it tells you to some degree what the words mean which can get you out of the confusion that is mandarin.
Daily reminder to NOT hunt together with DB users using the Starving Wolf hunter art, as they are....less stable than other people. Prevention is better than cure.
>tfw still using Jaggidrome in HR5
I should start looking at something more appropriate, I was oneshot by a Furious Nargacuga tailslam earlier.
I've been using the Tetsu line while also upgrading Tigrex, is the Halbred better than Tetsu? What's the upgrade path?
It's too early to say right now. With daily EXP caps and the game being in open beta only since the 17th, there really hasn't been enough time to gauge that kind of shit. It'd be easy enough to be fooled into thinking it's "balanced" but I won't be so hasty. I will say that Hammer is fucking garbage right now unless you're solo spin strong hit spamming weakpoints.
I would say that Bowgun is overpowered right now, not because it has the fastest solo times or whatever bullshit. It don't know if it has the best damage or not but I will say that the damage is definitely high relative to the risk of a ranged weapon obviously. It seems to do more damage than in other MH games but I think it might merely be the product of having a control scheme that isn't fucking garbage, which a ranged weapon obviously benefits the most from.
Greatsword is definitely trailing behind longsword and dual sword, but only because they haven't released skills that Greatsword needs to be top tier in more recent MH games. There's no blow and there's no guaranteed weak hitzone stagger. There's no quicksheath or crit draw (that I'm aware of), and there's basically one good armor for greatsword because it has focus on it, but it's slotting is shit and you basically have to sacrifice any survivability skills like evade if you want to do a good DPS build, and no evade or evade distance seems impractical when there's such a high percentage of the current bosses that have the classic kut ku style instant charge heavy hitting hitbox.
>Unleash your inner beast to charge your blade. This will make your next attack deal more damage.
>Deep demon training allows you to trigger a dangerous rage for a short time. Each slash of your blades deals a secondary slash. Hunters who use this technique carelessly, lose themselves in madness.
But anon, the beast is a figure of speech for unleashing your power.
On the other hand the DB user might gut your belly and decapitate your waifu hunter pal out of nowhere when you were just talking normally.
>a figure of speech
a "figure of speech"
instantly blacklisted and kicked for being a freak by nature
>the DB user might gut your belly and decapitate your waifu hunter pal out of nowhere
To be fair it's not really MHO's fault. They did some things to make the Gen 1 and 2 monsters much more interesting, more so than MH4U did, but the fact is they're still fucking niggers. I would easily recommend MHO to anyone later on but right now they seem to be pushing out mostly crustaceons and the most obnoxious flying wyverns ever.
When they start pumping out Gen 3 monsters I'll be extremely happy.
I rather they focus on frontier monsters because they're much more cooler.
so, I'm an o3DS, I've hacked it and I'm running on the latest sysNAND update.
I'm using cakes / NTR, I can boot FE if and other jp games just fine yet the MHXv8 .cia just doesn't. Anytime I try to start the game it loads just to tell me "some error occured, hold power to turn off the device blabla".
Where am I messing up /mhg/?
Ayyy where the fuck is Slicing S in MHX? I need to cut off a Raizex tail and I don't feel like upgrading any blademaster weapons, but WHERE THE FUCK IS SLICING S? 斬裂弾? Is there really only ONE LBG in the entire game that can rapid fire 斬裂弾? And it's a max upgraded end-game LBG and it's apparently only Lv2 斬裂弾, because apparently Lv1 斬裂弾 doesn't exist?
Why can't I combine huskberry and whetstone to get Slicing S? Why Japanese people?
Also what happened to Speed Gather?
What chucklefuck thought that was a good idea? What the fuck?
>Oh hey here's a shot type that we give you an extremely limited carry amount of and extremely limited and low craft chance materials to carry too.
>You can never cut off a tail with just the 30 you get to carry
>LET'S MAKE IT UNCRAFTABLE AND LET YOU USE ONLY 12
31-4693-5727-0346 - MH4U
Looking to kill G-Rank Gold Rathians, as soon as I can figure out where the fuck you can find those. Failing that, looking to find a Deviljho Crook, y-yaaay...
So if you use rapid heaven, it automatically uses elemental shots?
HOW DO YOU MAKE IT USE ELEMENTAL SHOTS? IT DOESN'T SHOOT HOT FIRE/LIGHTNING/ICY HOT WHEN I USE IT?
That's the only reason I give it crap, I mean if it -is- shooting the element and not showing graphics, then I'll shut up.
But thus far, it feels like it's not
And does MHX bring back proper distance needs for elemental shots? It's a curiosity, all things aside.
This is my second game bowgunning. 4U was heavy, and X I'm trying light..pretty fun, minus the nodamage once your element runs out
It changes your shot into a type called "Rapid", and shoots 15 times.
It isn't elemental at all.
Can confirm since ~2 rapid non-augmented volleys of thunder makes a LR rathalos stagger. Rapid heaven doesn't.
I'd like to take the time to thank this guy for his help yesterdsy.
>MHO Hammer weapon awakening
Anywhere else aside from the wiki that has all of the awakenings? Hammer has only 1 tree while GS and few others have multiple tree.
Or is it that Hammer only has one tree so far in the game?
I have a few questions about the patched cia for MHX
I have a prepatched v7 cia of MHX, can I just use the NTR plugin method to apply v9 or do I have to uninstall and use a fresh CIA?
Does anybody have a prepatched v9 cia and can I just install it over the copy I have now, or do I have to uninstall it and reinstall it?
I know there's no risk to uninstalling and reinstalling an updated prepatched version since the save data is kept in a different place
Although I'm not sure if you're supposed to install the update before or after the game, I did it before and it seems to be fine
If you're not used to MH just play 4U first, do the caravan quests and then jump to X and online.
>thinks Nintendo shit is better than freedom unite master race
It's okay to be ignorant anon, you're very young after all.
Your buddy also.
I'm not new to the MH series (used to play Tri and Portable 3rd for 100s of hours), but I'm just starting out in MH4U. I know I'm late to the party but whatever, real life issues have been keeping me busy.
Anyways, when can I start playing online comfortably? I'm guessing that I have to complete all the village quests first before I can hop onto online rooms and not be a burden?
I did online once and fought some monkey monster that was swinging from the trees, most of us were wearing the default starter gear at HR1 and some LS guy died twice but we still managed to win.
You guys were not kidding when you said X looks worse than 4U.
It's like I'm playing F2 on my old PSP again.
What would improve the Gamuto fight?
>Tremors when it does its stompy-turn-around move
(because it seems silly not to do so but Rajang breathing seems to)
>Windpress on its huge foreleg slam move
(Its an easily exploitable move, so now you can't just wait in range with a GS charge or SA phial burst)
>If someone is right next to one of its legs, it can quickly stomp them
(So SnS and DB users don't have too easy a time, either)
>Tremor-lites (2 seconds) always for each back leg when they walk
(I've heard Gamuto's most glaring weakness is that it has no way of protecting its rear so most hunts end up with everyone just hacking its ass)
>Snowballs fly off its tail when it sharply turns
(Another way of having an attack to protect its behind, also something to catch out Gunners)
>Even when turning or standing around, its trunk can still lash out, though only when enraged)
(Apart from its snowballing trunk-spray move, it doesn't seem to use its trunk a lot)
>More aggressive the further away you away, will actively try to charge you, only activates once you attack it
(Something else to counter its status as a gunner-bitch)
>couldn't recover save data from corrupted SD card
Atleast I only got to 4* village, but it's a pain knowing I got to do all the stupid gathering quests again.
Thanks for the hunts V o i d, you play a pretty mean hammer
Sorry you had to suffer through all those crabs my man
>MHX translation patch V9 is out
>At V8, and don't know how to update.
Christ. If I lose this save, I might just move on to playing Theatrhythm Curtain Call for the next 100 hours or whatever.
How does one update their patch?
Make him like this guy
>Elite Akura Vashimu
This is beginning to feel like a proper MH now. I got photobombed though.
It really is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QyrUsdVaeU
It feels nautical to me, though, I don't know why
Me too. Its colossal but the game doesn't emphasise how goddamn heavy it must be. Even Shen Gaoren made Tremors from its stick legs.
Maybe the devs were afraid that Tremor spam would make it a hugely unpopular fight, but to have so few in the first place is bizarre.
The 4 new flagships seem to have had a bit more attention put into their designs than other monsters. I don't mean like their literal design, but their mechanics.
Across the board, their hitboxes seem incredibly tight, Dinovaldo can slam his tail a milimeter next to me and I'm fine, Tamamitsune slips and slides all over the place but none of it hits you or even trips you, and I don't think I've ever been hit by Raizex's swooping stomp across the ground, despite him landing right on top of me.
I went into the Gamuto fight expecting endless tremors but was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure its colossal size could be conveyed better, but I'm glad they didn't just slap a bunch of tremor moves on it and call it a day.
I don't know, his attacks are so god damn loud and thundering that it's just weird how it only has a few means of causing them
Even without considering constant tremors though he definitely needs something to cover his rear
It was just a little surprising is all. I went in expecting shit like Lagi's hipcheck hitting on the other side of him or Shaggy's charge sucking you in from behind.
Instead it was hitboxes that actually lined up with what the model was doing.
>>shitty idol ripoff show of the month
Well the stuff I was talking about, Tamamitsune specifically, I don't think it even had a hitbox.
I'm talking about when it moves around just normally, I was expecting the trip and chip damage that you get from stuff like Garuga stomping about when it enrages or Ukanlos/Akantor changing direction and getting hit by the toes.
Main hammer combo that I use on hammer for most damage is E > left click > left click, the 3 fastest attacks possible doing good damage. The charge swing damage is stupid low though, it's hardly 10% of normal damage.
Just use that 1 shoutout they always use when you join a room and they can't tell the difference.
Host the keys yourself and solo your urgent and you'll fly through it in no time.
>I've heard Gamuto's most glaring weakness is that it has no way of protecting its rear so most hunts end up with everyone just hacking its ass
It actually has a back kick, but i've only seen him use it once and it's slow as fuck.
>Lagi's hipcheck hitting on the other side of him or Shaggy's charge sucking you in from behind.
There's nothing wrong with those. Accurate hitboxes reduce the need for spot-on positioning. You shouldn't be able to just dodge everything on reaction.

Whenever I stay near its ass it just keeps spamming the foreleg stomp which has annoyingly strong tracking and hits even around its rear legs, and it can back away from you while doing it
>We will never get the greatest trope in mainline monhun - Tank-Tortoises
The only monsters you actually need Guard+2 against are ones you're going to be GP-whoring to death, and Akantor Severance is not for GP whoring, if you want that use Ceadeus Regalia
>It feels nautical to me, though, I don't know why
Just look at those muscles how can bird wyverns even compete?
Do whatever floats your boat. Lots of differing opinions on /MHG/, and too many of them are oldfags who just shit on the newer games. MHFU, X, Tri, 4U, even Dos and the first MH; if it tickles your fancy, fucking have at it, man.
Pick up MH4U if you're new to Monster Hunter. It will teach you everything and get you into the world.
Consider picking up Monster Hunter X if it ever gets officially localized or you finish MH4U's village quests.
>Want to upgrade my Charge Blades before shitting up HR
>Need SMagala Plates and Firestones

What are the second and third options that are shown when I start a new game in MHX?
I want to go balls deep inside your butt while you go balls deep inside that guys butt while he goes balls deep inside miss cat loli's butt.
Comfort, ergonomics, juicy buttons. And this would only help with that.
You know Hori makes good shit.
Best grip on the market currently, yes. You don't like the shoulder buttons? They're not worse than stock, that's for sure, and it would have to be the only accessory getting them anywhere close to right.
i'll need some explanation as to what's going on in that picture.
kinda depends on how much they're flinging you around and how well they play their jams
The best support is contributing damage. But since Hunting Horn can play songs and attack at the same time, it's pretty good. Just don't be at the tail hitting people while you make them listen to your song
>everyone encourages pirating this new game in everyone's favorite franchise
>custom quests with a fuck ton of charms have been par for the course in the past
>one person creating a weapon in the realm of possibility, affecting absolutely no one but him is immoral
this general is retarded
Ah I can see that. I wasn't too sure of them at first either, but they grew on me. Of course the best thing ever would be if this used the IR port and had independent buttons.
Depends on the songs.
Attack Boost, Negate Stamina, and Earplugs are the big ones.
Don't bother with the health recovery or other garbage songs.
Basically if it doesn't play a Red or Orange note, it's useless 99% of the time.
As for using the weapon itself, it's not a "support" weapon. You play songs and it's a bonus that the songs are shared with others. You should be hitting the monster while playing your songs. It's actually a detriment to stand on the side because the monster will charge across the map after you and everyone wastes time running back and forth after it.
That they are. I'd love to do a charm quest or three just so I have a couple of charms that aren't complete garbage, but these guys don't want to know and just turn into shitposters.
striker allows you to go wild with arts but gimps axe mode's swing finisher which is a huge pain
sword aerial hits as you jump up and allows you to either hit or phial as you drop down which is incredibly annoying/effective
bushido allows you to perform the swing finisher as a bushidodge move
i'd personally lean towards striker/guild, then bushido, then aerial
Striker is the only of the 3 that can keep up the infinite Demon Sword mode, which is 1.44% with Power Phial at Level 3 allegedly., not to mention the affinity boost from Energy Charge 3.
Also, your arts charge faster in Striker.
I have no idea what is going on in this picture.
Some sort of trap for monsters to catch hunters?
You build up meter for the Demon Sword, activate it, and then when your energy gets low, you refill it with an Energy Charge.
Energy Charge recharges obscenely fast, and as a bonus at Lvl 2 and 3, fills the bar completely from empty and adds free affinity to your weapon.
Demon Sword takes a while to charge, and if you're knocked out of the animation, you'll spend the meter but won't get the effect, so take a second to make sure you can activate it.
Using those 2 in combination, you will literally never have to leave sword mode for the entirety of any hunt.
IT'S JUST NOT FUCKING FAIR
THE HEAT GAUGE WAS SUPPOSED TO SAVE US
I only believe in Gog.
You see where it says "ハンターホイホイ" at the top?
Here's a ネズミホイホイ.
Nope, Energy Charge is so easy to refill, just hitting the tail a couple times every now and again is more than enough.
Even on multi monster hunts, where you're forced to wait for a monster to respawn, Demon Sword Lvl. 2 and 3 will last long enough as long as you don't waste your Energy Charge on purpose.
Man I was stuck on khezu for like a week.
As much as I love knowing what I'm doing, I'll always miss those moments where I just couldn't fucking handle what the game was throwing at me and I would spend such large periods of time trying to overcome those hurdles. Those days are over, which is both a good and bad thing.
>they got rid of the Torch in MHX
>I can no longer use it to keep the legions of Jaggis and other small monsters from humping me while i'm on gathering missions

>being a faggot
Seriously, acting as if 4U is the worst Monster Hunter just because you don't agree with some changes to the formula; then going off and trying to discourage newcomers from playing it.
Shut the fuck up and kill yourself.
You make me feel like I should for some reason.
No. It maxes out a 190 Raw, which is a bit under the average, ~220, for GSs that can reach White sharpness.
But it has natural White, and with the Handicraft nerf, that's a big plus.
Until a good armor calc and a god charm are available to you, it's probably one of the best GSs for general use.
It's especially good for Aerial style since each jump counts as an evade for the self-sharpening mechanic; you'll never need whetstones again.
I just solo'd Crimson Arzuros level 8, 42 minutes, no carts, using full low rank Tamamitsune armor and the level 8 (max rank) Iron Longsword. AMA
A little bit.
said, it's got low raw, but it has the amazing white sharpness and restores on roll. The first version has 190 with 1 slot and can be enhanced by handicraft from what I remember, the second has 180 with 2 slots and more white but not enhanced by handicraft.
Does anyone have a Palico Square guide for MHX?
I need to upgrade farm n stuff
Sorry, yeah, you're right. He was probably just dicking around with that 4U meme stuff. I'm just really sick of seeing these anons talk shit about the newer MH's because of some differences that rub them the wrong way.
I just want everyone to fucking play MH without getting shit for what version they enjoy.
I've been around since Portable 2, and I'm just glad the player base is expanding in the west.
I should get some sleep.
What's this error message I get when I try to save the game in MHX?
I can't read the moonspeak, but it's two paragraphs and starts with "SD." Obviously it's something with the SD card, but i'm not sure what.
