Sorry, Cropsy was a drawfag who frequented these threads (and is probably still lurking) back during the time when Rogue was still translating Part 3. He was pretty decent, but people didn't like him all too much because he found a comfortable mould that he stuck with for a while, which resulted in a lot of people getting so pissed at him that he left. Well, what can I say? I know for a fact that even back then the thread was in a constant state of dying, so what we're seeing today is nothing new. Did have quite a few drawfags, though, besides the aforementioned Cropsy and Ecstasy. I don't remember how long Critnuke has been with us, but I think I recall him already being in here in 2013. Also recalling Thundragon and Wizard to be old-timers. After that... Can't seem to recall that many other ones. There were probably more, but if so I just don't remember them all clearly enough, sorry. Though Albert has pretty much always been a pain in our collective ass, even if he didn't exactly show up in these threads back in these days. During that time one mostly steered clear of him if you didn't browse anything other than this thread and the boorus.

I didn't give either NG+ or S&P much thought early on. I do know that NG+ predates S&P, and I do remember that I thought S&P was nothing noteworthy when the first chapter came out (though I did misread the title as Sacred and Propane at first), and honestly I still don't, but that's my personal opinion.

I never really got into NG+ myself, so I can't exactly say too much about how it was early on, though I will say that it is NOT the first mod to MGQ that is named NG+, since there was another one before Ecstasy started working on his version. And no, they're not similar at all.

As for when NG+ started to become a thing, I'm not exactly sure, but it happened during the drama following the full translation of Part 3, when the initial excitement regarding the full translation had faded and people were starting to take note of the glaring flaws of the part more than the good points about it. And believe me, there was a LOT of shitposting surrounding that. It should come as no surprise NG+ is the only thing worthwhile coming out of that drama even if most people agree now that the salt surrounding Part 3 was a bit exaggerated. I'd say it's because of this that NG+ and Ecstasy are so associated with saltiness these days.

Hey guys, I seem to have a small issue with Paradox. After I defeat page 65537 and get the book from her, I go to speak to the "pope" like the walkthrough says but he doesn't say anything different from what he says before I beat page 65537 so I can't sign up for the guard duty. With that drawing about Gnome punching Sylph last night, one single idea was storming my mind when I went to sleep.

Definitely the former. Granberry isn't exactly good at hiding that sort of crap, and Luka was simply overestimating his own ability to fight at full potential. At least it turned out well, he got to fight with her everyday and then fug her every night, and while he may never be as good of a warrior as he was during his adventure, you can at least argue he is still living a happy life. So someone on Dargoth's blog commented on the possibility of Paradox Part 2 being released while Part 1 isn't even close to be done. To which Dargoth responded:

Not really the issue. The issue is the massively overwhelming likelyhood that this is going to be a half-translated game at most, because that's just the reality of a project this size being done by such a small number of people.

It took Rogue most of a good 2 years to do all 3 parts of the VN. Part 1 of Paradox is 3x that size. And the other 2 parts will probably be a little bit bigger. This is a project that Dargoth went into knowing it'd take Rogue about 20 years to do.

So his plan is to do a bunch of irrelevant side text so he can translated "in order", or something, yet I doubt he really wants to spend a good 10 years on this project.

If he can translate the game in order, he really could have instead played through, made savepoints at all the story locations, and focused on translating those sections first instead of getting distracted by tons of minor NPC dialogue.

If the script is in order, this is a very doable approach. If the script is not in order, then his approach means he always HAS a way of searching for the parts he's doing anyway and, as such, can use any order he likes. Before anyone wants to tell me "he can't just search the text like that".

I'm not sure if he's even played through the game. Definitely should've played through it 2-3x imo, making saves at all the big story bits, before translating a single word past the demo parts. Difficult work can be made so much easier by taking a step back and mapping out your approach a few times first. And also by setting realistic goals which are honest with yourself.

Dargoth should've just translated the gameplay elements, and then worked on translating the encyclopedia and H-Scenes. Fuck translating the whole game. Yeah there are people who actually play MGQ for the story, but we all need to understand the situation here. Part 2 is gonna come out and Part 1 will be half translated at best. Dargoth is gonna be on suicide watch when this happens. Not to mention MGQ2, which will be a Visual Novel (much easier to translate), is looking to be released sometimes in the next 2-3 years. By that time Dargoth will still be working on Paradox, if he hasn't already given up by then.

Dargoth is a dedicated and hardworking person. But he's a complete fool at the same time. He's setting himself up for failure and frustration. He needs to prioritize on the shit people actually care about, and when he's done, figure out what's next. "Do I attempt to translate some of the story? I know damn well I'd MUCH rather the key parts of the story progression be mostly/entirely in english, rather than every misc thing I can click on for 40% of the game, and then nothing after that point.

I would prioritize main story, using the method I suggested of actually playing the game, creating saves at the parts which are important to translate, and focusing efforts there.

Gameplay elements (jobs, attacks, items) were handled by MGL.

Let's be honest, most of the h-scenes are just "hora hora, I mock you for ejaculating early and often, thanks for the meal".

Funny enough, playing through the game gives you a horribly inaccurate view of the amount of text there is to translate. You'll probably see 10-15% of the actual text in any given play-through, and that's assuming you watch a bunch of H-scenes and requests.

At any rate, about half of the map lines are already translated if you don't count the pocket castle (which has 20% of the total map lines, no joke). All the battle lines, present reactions, and other script crap is low priority. If paradox part 2 comes out and those aren't finished, we'll just move on. Getting the maps done and even all the h-scenes is doable.

I also don't know where people are getting their summer estimate from. On August 2nd, 2015, Torotoro said the next part was over a year away. He, like the rest of us, always underestimates his predictions. He probably isn't even done with writing for Hyakuran yet.

It's more about getting an idea of WHAT to translate, instead of just choosing to blindly translate whatever in order and running a big risk of an unfinished project that's also unplayable...

Work smarter, not harder imo. That way, if time doesn't allow, the unfinished project is much more likely to be playable. Blah blah, covered all this before.

Best case scenario of it being done as it is currently is that people wait an extra year or more for part 2's translation to begin, and THEN another extra two or three or so years for part 3's translation to begin. That's rough.
