Are there any prerequisites for upgrading my 9.2 emunand to 10.3? I'm on an o3ds. I get an error every time. Has anyone been able to do this?

Any clue as to why Cakes is failing to decrypt the firmware.bin? I followed this guide (http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji), which worked for me on my N3DS. But now that I'm trying to set up my friend's o3DS, cake doesn't want to launch. I checked the contents of the SD card multiple times, making sure the 0x25key whatever is at the root, and the cetk+firmware.bin are in the SD:\cakes folder. It noticed this behavior: when I set up the files, there's no firmkey.bin in the cakes folder. Then I try to go launch cakes on my 3ds and gives a black screen. I check the SD card at this point and now there's a firmkey.bin. I try launching Cakes and now it gives me dialogue, but only to give me "Failed to decrypt the firmware.bin. Please double check your firmware.bin and firmkey.bin are right"

Injecting FBI via rxtools doesn't work and provides no errors. I did this once with an o3ds, but it's not working on my n3ds. Assuming I did the right steps, H&S should be FBI. What do wrong?

I'm trying to open homebrew using browserhax for the first time on my 10.3 3ds and I got past the yellow and grey screens, but when it should open homebrew, I get stuck on black and red screens. I've seen this problem on a few forums and videos too and wanted to see if anyone here knew how to fix it.

Format your emunand. Tinyformat essentially resets whichever nand you run it on to factory default under a new ID, ie a different ID from your sysnand.

Something odd just happened to me. My nands aren't linked, but one of my games disappeared. I rebooted and then it was wrapped as a present.

Is this because I went into sysnand and started using tubedns? I still have 9.2 sysnand and can boot into emunand with all my other games perfectly

The browserhax problem happened to me. Use the in-browser setting to reset your data (bottom of the wrench icon menu), then start a new save file by launching the browser again after it kicks you. Then, go back to the Themes menu and change your theme (I just changed it to blue), then scan the QR code for browserhax again, wait for the browser to reload, exit back to home menu before the page completely loads, then launch the browser and try browserhax again.

That's what I did. Just got it working. It was giving me a problem because I forgot to setup the themes shit for the hundredth time in EmuNAND. When you have a problem with browserhax, that's a common solution. Clear browser data, change theme (unless it says it is setting up the data in which case you skipped a step in the first place. You can change your theme anyway to be safe), then run browserhax from scratch again.

I got my emunand all made up and shit... but how the fuck do I check what's on it? I also reformatted using tinyformat like instructed but I don't think it did anything.

It took almost the entire day but I did it.

Took my 10.3 new3ds to 9.2 emunand and updates that to 9.5 and was able to install and run the cowtits Pokemon version.

I've recently been playing games without issue. Using BigBlueMenu to install CIAs. Tried to install a new one, said it was done, hit the home menu, yanked the SD card, and shut down.

Next restart the 3DS can't see any of my installed programs (games, cia installer) - system data management tells me the SD software management information is corrupted and I need to wipe it all.

SD card reads fine on the computer.

So I'm assuming something just glitched in the install process for my latest game? Maybe I yanked the SD card without looking or hit home at the wrong time.

Is there any way to fix this without having to reinstall all my games again?

Maybe like, remove the latest game from title.db so the DS doesn't sperg out about whatever is missing re the latest install (I have no idea how I'd do that, just wild guess here?)

.3ds and .3dz files are for use with a Gateway cartridge only. For CFW, you just install shit onto your 3DS SD card directly with .cia files, which are installers that let you have games on your homemenu, similar to how you download from eshop. After that you can play online all you want safely.

For everyone who was getting the sysupdater error about not finding the CIA files, I was trying to figure that out for hours and all this mac shit and it wasn't working. Switched sysloader versions to whatever the hell this one is and it worked first try:

Backing up your sysnand (normal DS software, stored on the DS)
Making a duplicate of the sysnand, which will become your emunand (hacked DS software, stored on your SD card)

Chances are you had Menuhax installed before creating EmuNAND and now it got copied over, changing theme will remove it from EmuNAND and your rxTools will autoboot as it should! Alternatively CtrBootmanager needs to be configured correctly to launch the correct file at startup. I got a bit confused on this part because there are bunch of similarly named files you're juggling round, had to be extra careful.

1. The cakesFW guide instructs to make a dump sysNAND before emuNAND. If I in the future for some unforseeable reason wanted out of the CFW business, could I restore and go back to a near unmodified system again?

2. After "unlinking" by wiping my sysNAND with TinyFormat, the emuNAND launched through a CFW will contain all my games and save data as before. Is this correct?

3. My ambassador GBA games will for some reason not work anymore if only installed in emuNAND as far as I've understood. Why? And how are you supposed to install them in sysNAND without eShop access?

4. Are there any problems with DS mode that I should be aware of?

5. I've got another o3DS that I don't have physical access to at the moment, so I won't be able to downgrade it before Monday. Is there anything easy I can ask to be done with it to prevent it getting fug'd? I.e. would putting TubeHax DNS on it be a good idea? My sister borrows it occasionally

If only it was US instead of JP, I could've system transferred pre-downgrade. Anyone know a neat use for a JP N3DS? If I hadn't downgraded all of them I probably would've at least had it replaced my O3DS as my carry-around CFW machine, but having CFW on my main N3DS XL has just thrown me for a loop.

Only reason why I found my JN3DS useful (besides its hardmod) was playing Triforce Heroes with Japanese players..... aaand that's about it. Dump your SecureInfo_A from it via rxTools nightly and sell it, I guess. Then use that SecureInfo_A to make a JP N3DS EmuNAND and use it on a different N3DS if you ever care to get one (under 10.4, anyway. you need kernel access for emunand)

If you nab a console with firmware 10.3 or lower you have a shot at downgrading. However, if the downgrade fails you might end up with a softbrick. Softbricks require updating to latest firmware, where the exploits likely won't work. But the downgrade might work the first time around, as well.

Your only way of playing DS roms is through a flashcard.

So anything 9.7 and below would always be safe for browserhax? Would it be possible to update to 9.7 specifically? One of my physical carts needs 9.7, and having to go looking for a rom and dumping my save seems like a huge hassle. I want to leave my n3ds in a position to still install cfw in the future.

I still got browser error in sliderhax. Not even make it to flashed/garbled screen phase, just browser kick me back to main menu. Some poeple said it means it's almost working though.
But it's been two days and it's driving me crazy. So I want to double check, all I need is just the boot.3dsx and 3ds folder from the starter pack, right? Or do I need other files to increase my success rate?
