Wanted to get through this without getting spondfed since i managed to follow the guide with no problem, but any help?

So I followed one of the guides, cool, fine, everythings good. Until I get to the stage where I'm doing the stuff with ctr boot manager, specifically where I set up my autoboot to emunand. It works fine, I turn it on, it autoboots to ctr, then the cakes menu, the problem is when I select "Boot CFW" it seems to go in a loop, the screen goes black, then shows the "static" I get when I first boot up, then shows ctr AGAIN, but if I select the CakesFW entry (or let it auto do it) it just hangs on a red screen. What do?

Hey guys when I update to 9.5 on emunand I get a preparing home menu screen then it just stays black but lit up. Im using the 9.5.0-23 full N3DS zip from mega. I am using a N3DS I have restored my emuNAND after doing this I would just like some suggestions. I have used sysUpdater 0.4.1 and 0.4.2 yes I was in emuNAND while running these. After the update runs it kicks me out into my sysNAND where I have checked and it is still 9.2. I have unlinked my nands.

Correct. If you're on N3DS you must use sysupdater by profi200 to update to 9.5 manually. Make an EmuNAND backup before attempting to do it, because I think it's still a one-time-fuck-up (I hear a missing/included .cia can screw up EUR and JP N3DS EmuNANDs....)

It's basically another Homebrew Launcher, except it will auto-boot the default program you set it to if you don't touch anything for a few seconds.

Useful if you want multiple CFW options on boot and boot into a specific cfw without touching anything from power on.

So, about them GBA games

I unlinked my NANDs and the emunand contains everything. My sysnand was formatted, so what I have there is nothing but some DSi titles and applications, of which there is no H&S information app.

Apparently in order to play GBA titles I have to install those .CIAs to both the sysNAND and emuNAND. The issue is, how would I install .CIAs on the sysNAND if I cannot inject FBI there?

Did you install to SysNAND? Make sure you're running a cfw in sysnand or OFW will hide it for being unsigned.

I managed to set up emuNand, and updated to 10.3, but now whenever I want to boot up the CFW the screen stays black. I was following the pastebin guide in the OP.

Finally managed to complete the whole process today, current playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my CakesFW system. Thanks to everyone who helps in these threads, you're doing god's work!

After I woke up the other day I was starting to catch up by reading dead threads, and I made a few changes to the guide after doing so (made the tinyformat bit more clear, fixed typo in browserhax URL, etc.) but then I got distracted and suddenly it was taking far too long to catch up on all the threads. I can tell you what you did wrong. Unlinking by system formatting sysNAND tells Nintendo servers to unlink your NNID. If you want to get around this in the future, run TinyFormat on sysNAND (through pasta or something).

No. SecureInfo_A is tied to the system hardware. All your NANDs will have the same SecureInfo_A unless you inject one from a different 3DS.

N3DS secureinfo_a does not work on O3DS, but O3DS can be injected into N3DS.

If you system update, just remember that Cakes doesn't yet tell you if you're in emuNAND via its system settings, but that if you were in emuNAND previously then you're safe. Sysupdater is a finicky bitch. Just keep opening until it allows you to push Y and check the cias. If on a N3DS it can take forever before it decides to fucking do it.

If the H&S Injection is giving you trouble, try the other method where you boot Pasta from sysNAND and then run FBI.3dsx from the homebrew launcher and install fbi.cia with it.

So I want to restore my n3DS XL. Undo the downgrading, undo the CFW and undo everything else. I have way too many cartridge and eshop games I'd have to redownload as .cia's since I can't play them anymore

Put the SD back when you're back at the home menu after setting the 3ds up and depending on how you get to the HBL you might want to access the Theme menu once

Done that Cool and now I can access Eshop with my 3ds. The only problem now is that all of my previous legit games that I bought from Eshop has been greyed out in system management with an X right beside them and I can't get them back. I had this problem and I did this:

1) Backup emunand and backup its folder in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/ (easier method: add a _ or something at the end of the folder so you don't have to copy it off your SD card, OR cut/paste it to the root of your SD card)
2) Go in emunand system settings, pick system format
3) Let it do its thing
4) Log into your NNID on newly formatted emunand
5) Restore emunand backup and put its folder back in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/

Still, if you really want to give it all up, restore your NAND backup to sysNAND if you're unlinked, if you aren't unlinked or after you do that, just update sysNAND and you're good. I was talking to some people in the Cakes IRC and it sounds like something called "cakehax" may help bootrates. I believe it'd be a replacement for menuhax but you'd still use ctrbootmanager.
Whether this helps depends on which part of your boot is failing. Is it not always getting to ctrbootmanager or is it getting there but not always to Cakes? Both Menuhax and Cakes could be failing sometimes.

It's pretty damn future-proof. The worst Ninty has done is change their encryption to fuck over N3DS users, but we find workarounds to deal with that 9.5 emuNAND limit that resulted from it.
We're on too old of firmware to have browsers blocked, and emuNAND shows up like a normal 3DS so they can't really block us from playing online either. One thing they could do is make that new Nintendo Account system required for playing online, and require you're on latest firmware to make/use one or something.

As for just playing free games offline, though, we're basically untouchable.

On the Wii U, yes, on the 3DS they are download but not automatically installed. There's a chance they could make them auto install someday, but it wouldn't affect older firmware. Similar to how they can now block browsers on 9.9 and up if you're not on latest.

This is unlikely, though, because the 3DS is portable and they can't guarantee you'll have stable internet to do the auto update. The Wii U is stationary and a whole different story.

This happened to me. Before you update your emunand to 9.5 go and uninstall menuhax. Then boot into emunand with browserhax or something and update it to 9.5.

You can install menuhax back after you get to 9.5 and it will be fine.

Going to ask one last time, Is unlinking nands worth the effort of reinstalling menuhax/re setting up coldboot if you've already got Coldboot running without issue, no present glitches, and are on an old 3ds? Themes seriously seem to be the only perk to unlinking nands. Especially since coldbooting means you basically have zero chance to accidentally update sysnand since you never get into sysnand unless you intentionally try to.

Hey m8s.
I just downgraded for the second time because the first time the downgrade was unfortunately incomplete I found out after setting my shit up the entire day.

To be sure this time, while downgrading I counted all the installed .cias. I noticed only ~40 have been installed from the 102 in my updates folder on the SD.
Can somebody explain this?
Is this incomplete again since it's not 102 lines of .cias?
