-NOTICE: January 11th http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/01/extended_nintendo_network_maintenance_on_the_way
-Menu/Iron/Browserhax all work on the latest firmware again! DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew.
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works on every firmware including 10.3.
>Is downgrading safe?
Things are going pretty well. Some bricks are simply people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the risks.
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries, especially with New 3DS. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-Apparently, the Wii U and 3DS use the same fucking keys... LOL
-Hykem is being weird.
-Linux can run on PS4. Thanks /g/.
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
recommend me some video games to fill a 128gb sd
Since I'm homebrew I wanna push some boundaries, There's no way I can access the Japanese eshop is there?
>emuNAND RX30 10.3 installed
>FBI injected into Health
>can't install BigBlue Menu or bhlauncher
Wanted to get through this without getting spondfed since i managed to follow the guide with no problem, but any help?
So I followed one of the guides, cool, fine, everythings good. Until I get to the stage where I'm doing the stuff with ctr boot manager, specifically where I set up my autoboot to emunand. It works fine, I turn it on, it autoboots to ctr, then the cakes menu, the problem is when I select "Boot CFW" it seems to go in a loop, the screen goes black, then shows the "static" I get when I first boot up, then shows ctr AGAIN, but if I select the CakesFW entry (or let it auto do it) it just hangs on a red screen. What do?
Hey guys when I update to 9.5 on emunand I get a preparing home menu screen then it just stays black but lit up. Im using the 9.5.0-23 full N3DS zip from mega. I am using a N3DS I have restored my emuNAND after doing this I would just like some suggestions. I have used sysUpdater 0.4.1 and 0.4.2 yes I was in emuNAND while running these. After the update runs it kicks me out into my sysNAND where I have checked and it is still 9.2. I have unlinked my nands.
I seem to recall you have to open and close some program (NTR? really I don't know what it was), or maybe I heard you just have to sleep and wake the 3DS from emuNAND. Try the latter first.
I dunno, maybe you don't have sig patching disabled? I'm more familiar with how to do that in Cakes than rxTools.
OK thank you. I have another question: when I installed emuNAND, it apparently changed my boot.3dsx, what's up with that? Launching menuhax with that doesn't work so I replaced it again but I got it backed up.
EmuNAND Tool, pc program
Or EMUNAND9. It can do it too
That shouldn't happen? Unsure how you even pulled that one off. HBL 3dsx is in the starter pack if you need it, and you should use CTRBootManager for your default boot.3dsx, imo. put boot.cfg there too (included w/CTRBootManager)
Bumping my issue and issuing out this pepe in exchange for help.
that's why i feel like I'm doing something wrong, everytime i try to install either CIA with FBI trhough the Emu's Heath or the HBL launched in emu, i'm getting a Install Failed.
>error opening FBI TMD
What am I supposed to do? I'm using correct fbi_injects. When I switch to different ones it just yells at me to use 2051, but when I do it keeps giving me that error.
Health and Safety is still the same, boring shit.
>That shouldn't happen? Unsure how you even pulled that one off. HBL 3dsx is in the starter pack if you need it, and you should use CTRBootManager for your default boot.3dsx, imo. put boot.cfg there too (included w/CTRBootManager)
What's so special about CTRBootManager?
Also, do I download the nightly from here: https://github.com/roxas75/rxTools/releases or https://lavanoid.github.io/
Correct. If you're on N3DS you must use sysupdater by profi200 to update to 9.5 manually. Make an EmuNAND backup before attempting to do it, because I think it's still a one-time-fuck-up (I hear a missing/included .cia can screw up EUR and JP N3DS EmuNANDs....)
>What's so special about CTRBootManager?
It's basically another Homebrew Launcher, except it will auto-boot the default program you set it to if you don't touch anything for a few seconds.
Useful if you want multiple CFW options on boot and boot into a specific cfw without touching anything from power on.
@Nightly: Dunno about O3DS but I can provide the CFW setup I used for N3DS if you're using one.
So, about them GBA games
I unlinked my NANDs and the emunand contains everything. My sysnand was formatted, so what I have there is nothing but some DSi titles and applications, of which there is no H&S information app.
Apparently in order to play GBA titles I have to install those .CIAs to both the sysNAND and emuNAND. The issue is, how would I install .CIAs on the sysNAND if I cannot inject FBI there?
>I installed a cia on FBI, where is the video game I installed? Can't find it anywhere in the menu
Did you install to SysNAND? Make sure you're running a cfw in sysnand or OFW will hide it for being unsigned.
So you mean to tell me after setting everything up on EmuNAND with my unlinked account, I have to use sysNANDwith my linked to install everything?
Finally managed to complete the whole process today, current playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on my CakesFW system. Thanks to everyone who helps in these threads, you're doing god's work!
Cakes Guide anon here. After I woke up the other day I was starting to catch up by reading dead threads, and I made a few changes to the guide after doing so (made the tinyformat bit more clear, fixed typo in browserhax URL, etc.) but then I got distracted and suddenly it was taking far too long to catch up on all the threads. Just going to post in this one now. If there are any issues with the guide please just tell me here.
I don't know what Windows users are using but you could always boot from a GParted LiveUSB if you were struggling to find the right program.
I was wondering about that file earlier. Can you just keep formatting sysNAND or something to generate a bunch of those?
glad to see my custom vc files are still being used
no i did not post this in the other thread
it definitely did allow a lot more access to a lot more people, but ultimately it depends on whether or not some savvy folks will try and come up with something
seeing as installing .cia stuff is now far more accessible i think some new stuff might emerge though
Update TIGER, too. http://pastebin.com/SjFXhB5a
Oh sorry, sounded like you had N3DS but decided not to. The worst that happens is your 3DS crashes when trying to run it: You won't actually brick anymore because everything runs off the SD card from now on. That's why EmuNAND exists!
I can tell you what you did wrong. Unlinking by system formatting sysNAND tells Nintendo servers to unlink your NNID. If you want to get around this in the future, run TinyFormat on sysNAND (through pasta or something).
What error are you getting? Try opening the eShop and trying again.
WHY DOES IT NOT AUTOBOOT INTO RXTOOLS WHY IVE DONE EVERYTHING RIGHT
DO I HAVE TO EDIT THE CFG OR SOMETHING?
WHATS THE CORRECT PROCEDURE FOR WHEN CONFIGURING MENUHAX?? WHAT TYPE AND WHAT TO I PRESS?
I've been thinking about downgrading my firmware. I was wonder if you anons can answer some of my questions?
>Can I keep my current downloaded games?
>Will I still be able to connect online/eShop?
>I was wondering about that file earlier. Can you just keep formatting sysNAND or something to generate a bunch of those?
No. SecureInfo_A is tied to the system hardware. All your NANDs will have the same SecureInfo_A unless you inject one from a different 3DS.
N3DS secureinfo_a does not work on O3DS, but O3DS can be injected into N3DS.
Changing what file is ran in there is not hard. It just doesn't work even if you do.
If you system update, just remember that Cakes doesn't yet tell you if you're in emuNAND via its system settings, but that if you were in emuNAND previously then you're safe. Don't leave system settings either or you'll restart and probably be in sysNAND (unless you setup coldboot, in which case it'll boot back into emuNAND through ctrbootmanager)
Is updating Rxtools to 10.3 as trivial as just going to system settings (making sure it's RX-E) and doing a system update? Won't this break my CIAs (for now just FBI)?
Sorry for dumb question but this shit has been so stressing so far and I'm afraid as fuck of fucking up. I've confirmed my NANDs are unlinked.
I'm following this guide:
And got stuck here:
> 5)once its done go into settings and choose "quick boot" and check it. now quit and this time run browserhax to install menuhax 2.1
I can't find this option. Is anon referring to "force ui boot" or "autoboot into sysNAND"?
so does updating TIGER really work, i haven't seen that anywhere? i've been at my wits end with that error for days and i don't feel like redoing everything again just to have it cuck me one more time
"always" is worrying, but menuhax doesn't succeed 100% of the time
Emunand9 has a "dump to emuNAND.bin" option
try to avoid using gateway's software
Backup the emuNAND and/or copy emuNAND to sysNAND (temporarily relinking) then wipe emuNAND with TinyFormat and restore the backup.
If the H&S Injection is giving you trouble, try the other method where you boot Pasta from sysNAND and then run FBI.3dsx from the homebrew launcher and install fbi.cia with it.
If you're already in some sort of emuNAND and FBI isn't working, you can skip the Pasta step since you'll have sig patching already.
So I want to restore my n3DS XL. Undo the downgrading, undo the CFW and undo everything else. I have way too many cartridge and eshop games I'd have to redownload as .cia's since I can't play them anymore
Is there a legit guide I can follow somewhere?
>tfw I have to download all updates and themes in EUR because I can't find a download for a specific update online
If it's not a million GB's I'll zip them up and shove them on mega for you skid marks
I thought I did, but I suppose I didn't. Anyway I just backed up my Nand and EmuNand a few minutes ago, to unlink my Nand I just format sysNand (or is it EmuNand?) via which tool?
And if something does go wrong, how do I go about restoring things to my 3DS (or is it restored to the card?) with the Nands I backed up?
I had some problems and unlinked sysNAND by formatting it via System Settings with my micro SD out (this is super important)
Put the SD back when you're back at the home menu after setting the 3ds up and depending on how you get to the HBL you might want to access the Theme menu once
My browserhax wont work anymore after going into any pasta and then trying to go back into the homebrew menu. Any idea how to solve this?
Done that Cool and now I can access Eshop with my 3ds. The only problem now is that all of my previous legit games that I bought from Eshop has been greyed out in system management with an X right beside them and I can't get them back. When trying to redownload through eshop they won't let me. It just asks me to buy the game again. Any clue what I can do to revert this and get my games back? Pic related

>0 desire to play any 3DS games, go back to playing yakuza 5 on my ps3 and trying to help anons here
I enjoyed the journey so much more than the actual destination.
Did you install menuhax? It apparently breaks browserhax.
But if you're following the pastebin to install FBI from pasta you can just run menuhax right after selecting Pasta, way better than relying on browsershit.
Probably by not posting the image
Okay, this is my story.
I already got FBI on sysNAND. (I haven't unlinked the NANDs yet)
If I format EmuNAND, will the FBI and save files transfer over to EmuNAND?
So after I format EmuNAND, do I unlink them?
And after this can I install my games normally?
I had this problem and I did this:
1) Backup emunand and backup its folder in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/ (easier method: add a _ or something at the end of the folder so you don't have to copy it off your SD card, OR cut/paste it to the root of your SD card)
2) Go in emunand system settings, pick system format
3) Let it do its thing
4) Log into your NNID on newly formatted emunand
5) Restore emunand backup and put its folder back in sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/
You need to make blank .db files on a certain part of your SD (the emunand part)
It is explained here
But here's a pic of the specific part.
Also, I'm assuming you have NANDs unlinked? If not, you might want to follow the whole tutorial.
So wait, I'm on an Old3DS and I dumped sysNAND, backed it up and did a Complete EmuNAND Setup, and backup up the emuNAND too. Do I now install rxTools or Cakes? Which is better on an Old3DS?
hbg is based as heck, thanks lads, going to play zero mission and get snuggy
sysUpdater folders goes in the 3DS folder
I can help you if you restate your problem or link to your original post..
run pasta and then TinyFormat from your sysNAND after you've made an emuNAND
If you installed it from Pasta Mode then it should show up while you're in Pasta Mode. What are you doing, though? You shouldn't really install stuff to sysNAND unless you're doing it before making an emuNAND so it gets copied over (such as FBI, FTP-3DS, etc.)
No, I don't believe it is necessary, but it doesn't hurt. If you were following my guide then you should still be in the homebrew launcher from Pasta after you installed FBI and then you can just back out and load Emunand9.
I would say yes, but we had kernel access ages ago, it's just come to newer firmware recently. It still might just because more people have kernel access now, though. You never know what unlucky dev was chillin' on latest firmware.
Are you on an O3DS or N3DS?
I was here before The Great Downgrading, so no reason to leave after it. Plus I gained a lot of knowledge on the downgrading process after doing it myself on quite a few systems. I only had CFW on my 9.2 O3DS before, now I have CFW on all four 3DSs of mine, and I've been helping friends set it up as well.
>No. SecureInfo_A is tied to the system hardware. All your NANDs will have the same SecureInfo_A unless you inject one from a different 3DS.
That sucks. So to get online with something with a changed region, you're preventing another 3DS from going online permanently?
You should be able to mostly follow my Cakes guide. You just can't use menuhax, so ignore the bit about setting up coldboot.
Steveice is the guy who makes FBI, check his github.
Which rxTools are you running? 2.6 or 3.0?
If using Cakes you can't tell which NAND you're in
setting up everything is indeed entertaining, you can look what else to mod on it, only to not play it, like setting up GBA games, NTR, changing menuhax loading picture
Thanks anon, it's O3DS yup, I'm sure they are not linked (two gibberish folders, even put [S][y][s] folders on sysnand home. I'm almost done.
Anyone got a link to all the virtual console cias?
>HIO, so you can install .cia files from your PC (only in the latest leaked version)
Any more info on this? I saw docs relating to HIO in the old SDK leaked by BBB, but nothing newer since.
>(On your SD card there's a folder called Nintendo 3DS. Go into that folder, then into the folder with a lot of letters and numbers, and then once again into the second gibberish folder. Once there, create a new folder titled 'dbs' and drag the files from dbs.zip inside.)
>Once those are all on your SD card and you're running 9.2, go to System Settings>Data Management>Nintendo 3DS>Software. It will warn you that the database files are corrupt, then ask to rebuild them. Do this and then exit the system settings.
I did this and now I can't access my Homebrew channel. What did I fuck up?
TO ALL NEWCOMERS
This guide may help you. It may look daunting but just make sure you stick to the parts that are relevant to your setup (AKA not having a flashcart)
So I followed a guide on gbatemp where I installed big blue menu. I was wondering if it’s worth the effort at all to replace it with FBI at this point and if so, how would I do it. Also, I lost my original hs.app, mistakenly thought I had placed it somewhere else and deleted it. Is there any way to replace it?
I believe I did before the downgrade, but I'll try that.
But now whenever I try to get into homebrew it aborts to the home menu and say an error has occurred and to restart.
my tux systemupdater doesnt look like everyone elses, its the same version apparently but my red text is different and i dont get rows of white text like it does in this version: http://i.imgur.com/vRN5jWZ.jpg
I uninstalled the other one using FBI before doing anything else so I don't know how it acts when the correct one is updated and the other lingers. It just started working. No forever loading.
>turn on n3ds, boot into homebrew
>freeze from FTP
>freeze with text in sysupdater
>freeze booting from menuhax
>error failed to find cia files
>don't worry bro keep doing it I did it 200 times and finallly got it
>kiiiiiiilll meeeee, kiiiiiiiiiiiill meeeeeeeee

>I AM DESTRUCTION INCARNATE YOU ARE BUT NATS TO MEEEEEEE
>I willl render everyone liiiimb from limbs
>I shall be CARNAGES and give BLOOD to the BLOOOD GOOOOOOOOD AHAHAHAHHAHAHA
I was just telling that anon it's not possible to coldboot into rxTools 2.6. It sounds like he already has CFW working.
>I'd have to redownload as .cias since I can't play them anymore
what? why do you think that?
Still, if you really want to give it all up, restore your NAND backup to sysNAND if you're unlinked, if you aren't unlinked or after you do that, just update sysNAND and you're good. You can then delete the CFW files from your SD card if you want, but it doesn't matter since they won't work anymore anyway.
I never have it boot me into sysNAND, but sometimes it freezes and I have to try again.
As far as I know, post-IOSU exploit we won't be using Loadiine anymore, so it's tough to say how things will work at that point. I think we'll probably be able to use external HDDs.
Backup your sysNAND as well as files on your SD and then run the complete emuNAND setup from Emunand9.
What's the issue?
either do what the other anon said with db files or else just try opening the eShop (whether it can be accessed or not) then try FBI again
whichever one you're trying to run FBI from, or both if you want to run it in both. It should generate your database stuff if you don't already have it
Also which NAND are you trying to install that in? you may not have sigpatching if you're in sysNAND and not running Pasta
If you were planning to actually use it, don't. If it ever does get releases it's not going to be worth using anyway.
Can you install any other .cia files?
>I enjoyed the journey so much more than the actual destination.
Yeah, I know the feeling. It's nice to make people who actually want to play games happy, at least.
Yes to everything. Make sure you have a sysNAND backup and that you copy all your stuff to your computer before formatting emuNAND.
Browserhax is utter garbage, get menuhax asap. If you just downgraded make sure to delete the webkithax tmp thing, since it's intended for a newer firmware. Also put the blank theme if you didn't.
Also stop using emoticons reddit, only :^) and ;_; are allowed in our secret club.
What >>127911671 said, the newer payloads don't work on 9.2. And since you technically still have a theme, browserhax won't work. Put the blank theme and try running browserhax again. Then install menuhax and never touch browserhax again until you re-format your sysnand (for NAND unlinking).
How do I inject gba games and do ds games need to be injected?
Set your DNS to TubeHax first.
Then turn on the Nintendo 3DS while holding A+R+L+Up(DPad)
It should come up with a menu asking to update. Click cancel. YOu should no longer get these messages.
I tried connecting browserax and nothing shows up? I just did a system format/emunand format on my 9.2. I put the starter pack and I cant access the browserhax Only a small slider shows up
Oh alright, I'll take your word for it. I'll boot into EmuNand, update in system settings and hope for the best.
Alright I just formatted with SD card out, I'm going to see if going to system settings within EmuNand actually updates just that. I hope so...
if you didn't do an image of old sd card to your new sdcard, the emunand partition is gone. you'll need to restore your emunand backup from old card to new. or image it properly:
trying to install it in the emuNAND since that was the account I unlinked. I did this:
> Go to "Select Patches" and check "Enable emuNAND" as well as "Disable signature checks". Now Boot your CFW.
I'll try going to the eshop
(hit character limit with first reply)
also make sure to use TinyFormat from Pasta on sysNAND to unlink or else you can run into NNID issues on emuNAND
I was talking to some people in the Cakes IRC and it sounds like something called "cakehax" may help bootrates. I believe it'd be a replacement for menuhax but you'd still use ctrbootmanager.
Whether this helps depends on which part of your boot is failing. Is it not always getting to ctrbootmanager or is it getting there but not always to Cakes? Both Menuhax and Cakes could be failing sometimes.
I would recommend Cakes. The creator has an O3DS so it should work great. Just keep in mind that if you want to coldboot into emuNAND you'd have to use Cakes or the rxTools nightly, not rxTools 2.6.
Add the homebrew launcher to ctrbootmanager. If it's already in there but not working, make sure the boot.3dsx file for the homebrew launcher (that comes with the starterpack) is renamed to boot_hb.3dsx
New glitch was found by Yellows8 and released during CCC.
You might be connecting unrelated things. What do you mean when you say you can't access the homebrew launcher anymore?
>worth the effort to replace it with FBI
Nah, any CIA manager will do
Not everyone is using Tux anymore, Also, that screen looks fine if you're just waiting to press Y until you find out if it's safe.
Are you using Julian's latest build? Instead of the vague "CIA files not found" error it will tell you if it got kernel access successfully or not before you even hit Y.
If you unlinked you should've had to go through the 3DS setup on one of them again, and you should see different files on each. Also themes won't be the same on both anymore.
Try creating a folder in sysNAND and seeing if it appears in emuNAND or not to test.
It does change some things, yeah. Which CFW are you in? rxTools or Cakes?
Just update it
>ANON I was ready to Format EmuNAND but suddenly "File starter.bin" was not found?
I don't get it! What does it mean? Can I steal format it? CAN I STILL TRANSFER MY SAVES AND FBI TO EMUNAND?
When I try running MenuHax Manager 2.1 through the HBC after using Browserhax it gives me an error message that says
>failed to open theme extdata with extdataID=0x000002cd, revtal: 0xc8804464
Is this because I'm using a clean SD card?
You're doing God's work anon. Thanks.
Could you help me out too?
I'm following http://pastebin.com/WVszD3Tm and am at
>6e. Install TinyFormat.cia and launch TinyFormat
How do I install this? I have the FBI files on my SD
Okay, I believe I just put the right IDs. To be clear, some anon wrote this guide. Would anyone care to confirm these are right?
Am I crazy or does GBAtemp say not to update Tiger?
>Note to CFW users - There are reports that this may work for you, if you want to try go ahead and install NVER but not TIGER.
installed CHMM2.cia, but it doesn't respond when I launch it and can't even home out. I only see the controls on bottom screen. Anyone else had this or know what could be wrong or know another way to get themes?
I'm looking into downgrading my brothers 9.7 o3dsxl.
I presume I just do the steps as normal as I already made sure he has homebrew channel, but I will ask if there is anything else to do here first.
Just so I don't brick it.
have you injected FBI into Health and Safety (emunand) yet?
If so, launch emunand, open the H&S app and it'll launch FBI. from there, install tinyformat.cia
it'll add the app to your homescreen and off you go
Coded a lot better. More stability. Allows coldboot unlike rxTools 2.6. Modular. All typical features can be enabled/disabled via "cakes". The only thing it's missing that rxTools has is region-free, and you can get that by running BootNTR on top of it, which a lot of rxTools users end up having to do for foreign DLC anyway.
If you're on sysNAND, recovery mode like ther other guy suggested should work. If on emuNAND, I think freemultipatcher can help with that.
You can play ds games but it will delete the MSET exploit every time you do.
>mset or autoboot
autoboot, but you probably guessed that
you could also set up both if you wanted
inside the /cakes folder next to cetk.here
That slider is browserhax. Zoom in and tap somewhere near the right edge of it.
Yes, it's fine to ignore that message.
XL or non-XL? Try switching to the other or taking breaks and making a squeezing motion with your hand repeatedly to stretch out your fingers
That's normal. Zoom in and tap on the slider.
Launch PastaCFW or MiniPasta from the homebrew launcher on sysNAND, then return to the homebrew launcher and launch FBI.3dsx and install FBI.cia and TinyFormat.cia.
I explain how in my guide: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
You can't autoboot 2.6. You'll have to use 3.0 or Cakes.
My guide starts with downgrading if you want to try to follow it: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
Also let me know if you have further questions after reading that.
You just have to keep trying, it doesn't always work.
You should be good as long as you have Cubic Ninja or OoT3D or something. They're likely going to patch Browserhax after 10.4 comes out, which makes it hard to get started.

Tried using Cakes but it told me firmware.bin was in the wrong position. This is where it goes right?
New 3ds btw
It restarts to enable pasta, so if you hold the menuhax button right after choosing pasta it should return you to the homebrew launcher from Pasta.
Okay, there's a chance you don't have signature checks disabled. Do you remember checking which patches you wanted from the Cakes menu before booting?
It's pretty damn future-proof. The worst Ninty has done is change their encryption to fuck over N3DS users, but we find workarounds to deal with that 9.5 emuNAND limit that resulted from it.
We're on too old of firmware to have browsers blocked, and emuNAND shows up like a normal 3DS so they can't really block us from playing online either. One thing they could do is make that new Nintendo Account system required for playing online, and require you're on latest firmware to make/use one or something.
As for just playing free games offline, though, we're basically untouchable.
just renamed n3dsfirmware.bin to firmware.bin

How come the Homebrew launcher on home menu doesn't work for me? Running RXtools 10.3 on O3DS, and I installed the Homebrew CIA through BigBlue. Everytime I launch it, the bottom screen stays red while top is black.
I also have autoboot setup, does that anything to do with it?
Can anyone tell me if I can do the things outlined in this guide with Cakes, or do I need RxTools to use the converter?
Can anyone get this theme to load in CHMM2.cia?
If the link doesn't work, go onto popular (the star at the top of the site) and it's the Kyogre Pokemon theme.
For me it appears in the list but it only shows the name. And when installed it just goes to the default theme.
>Okay, there's a chance you don't have signature checks disabled. Do you remember checking which patches you wanted from the Cakes menu before booting?
They are disabled, I think I'm just being unlucky.
Is it safe to create/format emunand by using emunand9 launcher file + http://go.gateway-3ds.com or should i get the real gateway launcher file?
just dumped sysnand so far using the former
>ctr now just hangs when it either auto tries to boot cakes or when I manually select it
w h y
Did you install menuhax? It breaks browserhax.
Use menuhax instead, you can hold the menuhax hotkey while booting Pasta to get into HBL in Pasta mode and do the emunand shenanigans.
On the Wii U, yes, on the 3DS they are download but not automatically installed. There's a chance they could make them auto install someday, but it wouldn't affect older firmware. Similar to how they can now block browsers on 9.9 and up if you're not on latest.
This is unlikely, though, because the 3DS is portable and they can't guarantee you'll have stable internet to do the auto update. The Wii U is stationary and a whole different story.
Yes. Try this guide out: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
No. Remove your SD and try booting. If that works, follow the FAQ at the bottom of the pastebin I linked above
did it work before?
Just keep trying
In your boot.cfg file on your SD card change the line I highlighted in pic related
You're partially right. Just downgrade again and relink, then update again. It's not worth losing your data if you don't have to.
Pasta is ONLY for doing stuff in sysNAND that requires sig patching, e.g. installing .cia files like FBI for the first time or running TinyFormat to unlink
I do think it might worth be using Cakes, but you don't have to "switch", just have both files on your SD card and add Cakes to ctrbootmanager.
look at my pic
It's just a line in CtrBootManager's boot.cfg file you open in Notepad.
// Some devices (n3ds?) seems to have
// some timing problems when using timeout=0 (autoboot).
// You may increase this value to improve boot success rate.
// Default delay (8) should be good for o3ds, 2 seems good for n3ds
autobootfix = 200;
>do think it might worth be using Cakes, but you don't have to "switch", just have both files on your SD card and add Cakes to ctrbootmanager.
Thanks for the reply. Any advantages to Cakes? I'm pretty comfy with rxTools but curious about Cakes.
Install menuhax again and put it to type 2, then assign the trigger to whatever you want. This makes is so that if you press the button while it turns on, it WONT boot menuhax
If you're on rxTools 3.0 there's not that much reason to switch aside from stability. If you're on 2.6 you'll gain the ability to autoboot.
cubic ninja > ninjhax 2 > hbl > rxtools > rxtools sysnand mode >
cubic ninja > ninjhax 2 > hbl > fbi.3dsx>
trying to install fbi.cia, can't because:
Neither any other cia, tbbh.
I followed this to get nightly: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-setting-up-9-0-9-2-n3ds-xl-for-rxtools-cfw-including-emunand-coldboot-cia-manager.405589/
I tried my old firmware.bin I had with 2.6.
I just get black screen after rxtool logo any help?
What's the difference between running rxTools in sysNAND and emuNAND? Also, wtf is pic related? Is it because I made FBI install all .cia's when there weren't any? How do I remove it? It only appears in emuNAND
thanks guys. what are the chances for a softbrick? i might still go ahead and try it anyways and just wait for the next opportunity if i'm forced to upgrade.
You can install them to sysNAND if you'd like. I usually install both of those to sysNAND before making the emuNAND so that they're all in both places. If you're going to unlink anyway it won't matter for sysNAND, though.
use Emunand9 instead
use the beginning of this guide: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
Even simpler than that. Just restore your NAND.bin backup to sysNAND.
running rxTools in emuNAND............ boots into emuNAND. seriously what were you expecting?
also unlink your NANDs if you haven't already, also what the fuck is up with the bottom of your top screen
>In your boot.cfg file on your SD card change the line I highlighted in pic related
Is it the boot.3dsx file? What did you even open it with? Sorry I'm tech retarded but your picture looks mysterious as all hell to me.
This happened to me. Before you update your emunand to 9.5 go and uninstall menuhax. Then boot into emunand with browserhax or something and update it to 9.5.
You can install menuhax back after you get to 9.5 and it will be fine.
Chances are higher on N3DS.
It's a lot of RNG, some anons were stuck in softbrick hell, whereas others managed to downgrade on the first go (disregarding early sysupdater crashes).
Is it just me or is Browserhax shit? I can't get it to let me into the homebrew menu once I'm in emuNAND now, and I can't boot from Cakes into the Homebrew through Menuhax, which should be in my emunand
So I followed the imgur to downgrade, install FBI, and get rxTools. Whenever I run rxmode and run anything, it boots be to sysNAND. Did I do something wrong?
>perfectly downgraded with julians build on the first fucking try.
hohoho it's fun watching other faggots suffer.
woah okay i guess it loaded into browser hax. left the wifi on regardless of what the other guy said.
im just wondering what my step to take now is
do i just close it and try to run menu hacks? isnt it supposed to say my firmware version
How do people struggle with this? There is literally not one hard part about this, especially with all the illegal shit linked to you in OP and FAQ.
If your reading comprehension can at least match that of a seven year old, and have access to google, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be able to figure this out yourself.
l'm fucking stuck on this guide and lm thing lm too deep to try another http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji. (line 83) I CANT FUCKING INSTALL BBM
Going to ask one last time, Is unlinking nands worth the effort of reinstalling menuhax/re setting up coldboot if you've already got Coldboot running without issue, no present glitches, and are on an old 3ds? Themes seriously seem to be the only perk to unlinking nands. Especially since coldbooting means you basically have zero chance to accidentally update sysnand since you never get into sysnand unless you intentionally try to.
I just downgraded for the second time because the first time the downgrade was unfortunately incomplete I found out after setting my shit up the entire day.
To be sure this time, while downgrading I counted all the installed .cias. I noticed only ~40 have been installed from the 102 in my updates folder on the SD.
Can somebody explain this?
Is this incomplete again since it's not 102 lines of .cias?
>my o3dsxl bricks after fake downgrading first try
>use the exact same files on my brothers o3dsxl and it real downgrades first try
Guess mine was cursed.
Also thinking of swapping the board into my old shell cause his hinge is fucked something royal.
Is there a way to play virtual console games on emunand without linking nands?
Can I put rxTools on without it fucking up my EmuNAND? The CFW is just used to access it right, it's not actually what changes or controls it once I'm on there?
Also which version of rxTools for n3ds? Cakes is being a little cunt and I'm done trying to wrestle with it.
I installed EUR Fire Emblem Awakening, works fine on US console. I installed the DLC, but not even sure where in-game to access it to see if it works. Anyone know the quickest way to check?
I used rxTools but I know some people having neen having issues with DLC from other regions
>tfw I get aroused every time I see that picture
You're probably fine, anon.
my emunand worked the first time I booted into it with Cake now all I'm getting is either a black screen if I try to run it or a black screen after selecting the boot cfw option
what the fuck am I doing wrong?
Nope. never unlinked mine and I updated to emunand 10.3 perfectly fine? Especially since backing out of system settings just reboots emunand anyways. Maybe on the N3ds? but I updated fine.
Run FBI from emuNAND
It will just show up if you did it right, which should be impossible not to do since dozens of guides spell it out for you
Well assuming you know what the DLC does.
>Look for added content
No, don't be retarded.
Here we go. o3dsxl
Using the 9. 2 from 3dsISO
>Go into System settings
Make sure you're in emuNAND first or else you'll fuck everything up
If you use a new 3DS use sysUpdater that you launch from emuNAND's homebrew launcher cia
I don't think you understand what I'm saying. If I try to run cakeCFW from the homebrew menu in sysnand it will just randomly decide whether it should work right now or not. It's weird as shit
OP from this post here, finished configurating everything after unlinking NAND's, that black icon is gone and see pic related.
LETS PLAY SOME SMASH BROS
so i've downgraded to 9.2.0 finally
is it safe to delete ironfall using the system settings app or do i need to uninstall it using homebrew or something, i heard there can be issues deleting shit through system settings
Welp, 3dsISO update archive have something wrong
menuhax sopped loading for me after updating yo kai watch i reinstalled and dont understand why this is happening.
If my I change my theme on emunand and it changes on sysnand are they linked?
>"Dont run this in sysnand gateway mode or it will brick!"
>"sysnand gateway mode"
I've already made an emunand using gateway, and I'm downgrading without RXtools installed. Am I good to go? 10.3->9.2 wise?
I'm on 9.9 n3ds. When I run sys updater in oothax I get to the options screen every time and push y. 5 secs pass and it crashes back to the homebrew launch screen. What am I doing wrong?
ironfall doesn't work on 9.2, so it's just dead weight, it's just a matter of how i delete it
i already have oot3dhax set up for 9.2 (i did this before downgrading) so i'm all set
read the pastebins, nigga
>Q: after downgrading my screen stays black
>A: remove your SD from your 3DS and delete the following on your computer:
asked gbatemp didn't get an answer. so my nands are linked first off. i want to know if there is any way that exiting GBA CIA files will take you back to emunand and not sysnand. it seems it needs sysnand to actually boot them then i'm stuck in it. then reboot into emunand and my icons are all disorganized and i have to unwrap everything. anyone?
set theme in emunand different from sysnand. change layouts. whatever you want. go into system settings and back out and you'll be in sysnand (assuming you aren't autobooting)
Tried it another time. Again ~40 files were installed.
Can anobody explain this? I don't understand why not even half of the files are installed. This seems to me as if it's not properly downgraded. Maybe most aren't and they're just lucky the right files did downgrade.
To the anon who helped me earlier with Happy Home Designer, I got it converted and installed, but it just stays on the loading screen with the 3DS logo forever. Would it be possible for you to upload your .cia for me?
Didn't mean to quote you mang, my b.
I don't know what could be causing this. Cakes is no good if you want things to just werk. Did you install menuhax before you did the emuNAND stuff? If so, your menuhax is probably triggering again when it reboots to go to emuNAND which fucks everything up. If this is the issue, when you start to reboot into emuNAND, hold the button you set that will keep you from starting menuhax.
Actually after l used pasta for the first time during this:
First off we'll need signature patching so we can run FBI. To do this, launch Pasta. It'll kick you back to your home menu, only this time with signature patching, allowing you to install whatever you want. If Pasta doesn't work, try MiniPasta. Now return to the homebrew menu via the browserhax URL again. Once here, launch FBI. Now that you're in FBI you can install .cia files. Go to where you save fbi.cia and install it. This will allow you to access FBI from your home menu instead of the homebrew launcher.
whenever l look at the homebrew launcher now, Pasta is gone (MiniPasta is still there) and l have 2 icons for Cake.
l have no idea anymore. (pic related is my emuNAND home menu, l made a folder to make sure lm on emuNAND)
I managed to make the emuNAND install and play games now, but the previous install fucked up a little and now in both NANDs appears 3 icons without image and disapears
is there a way to delete them or to make a "cleaner" install?
Just use minipasta, or reinstall the Pasta homebrew.
You need to hold the select button to prevent autoboot from happening, or edit your menuhax loader in a hex editor like it says to here.
>If you press Y and get "Failed to get CIA file info!" you didn't put the cias in the "updates" folder on your SD card.
I got this message but I have all the correct CIA's in the right folder. How do I fix this? I keep getting the same message.
I only see this two folders with extdata folders on it...
How do i install CIA's from this site http://mega3dsroms.blogspot.com.br/
Files are in separate archives and i can only overwrite it.
so im trying to install menuhacks through the browser menu but it keeps giving this error. i dont know what firmware im running yet
>You need to hold the select button to prevent autoboot from happening, or edit your menuhax loader in a hex editor like it says to here.
Well now it won't boot rxtools but selecting homebrew launcher only gives me a red screen
So I updated emuNAND from RX-E 9.2 -> 10.3 through system settings. But when I go to check the firmware version, it says 10.3, without the RX-E in front of 10.3. Is that supposed to happen?
I'm too scared to try this.
It also seems quite boring. Maybe I should just keep making my 3ds gather dust on the shelf while I wait for another good used game at 10 bucks.
Or maybe I should just try it and deal with the consequences, I was considering getting a n3ds anyway so I can play xenoblade...
anon, did the install actually finished or did it froze midway?
if it finished, take out the damn SD card out of it
if it didn't or the screen still errors without the SD use the recovery mode to update again
I had menuhax and browserhax working just a bit ago, but now when I try coldbooting to homebrew it stops at the yellow screen. Browserhax stopped as well. It puts me in the Error screen every time. Can anyone help?
No.. boot.cfg is the file. Open it with a text editor on your computer.
No, Pasta is just for sysNAND stuff. If you're in emuNAND you should be running CFW with signature patching so Pasta wouldn't be needed anyway.
I answered this in my FAQ.
No, I don't think that's necessary. I might be wrong, though.
Sorry what are you doing? homebrew launcher never shows your firmware version.
If it's only "sometimes" you should report it on their github. Are you on O3DS or N3DS? mid-kid only has an O3DS so it'll be easier for him to try to fix the problem if you have one as well.
Don't format your SD card. Just go right into the guide..
emuNAND is a copy of sysNAND, making them the same again will link them. Either restore your sysNAND backup from NAND.bin, or try to clone your emuNAND to your sysNAND. Both should be possible with the Emunand9 tool.
I've thought about adding info about that to my pastebin but I don't know enough about it yet. I know you need AGBFirm.
Aside from me not believing your claims, I guess there's not really a point.. You can do it at any time, it never becomes any worse to do. No reason to rush it, really. May I ask what CFW you're using, though? If you're using Cakes then maybe rxTools is the only CFW with the presents bug
Which downgrader are you using? If you're using Julian's latest downgrader then I wouldn't worry about it at all.
Yeah, you just have to install a bunch of stuff to both.
Yes. Unlinking involves wiping sysNAND, so you have to setup everything again. Although, 'everything' really just means menuhax
>The CFW is just used to access it right, it's not actually what changes or controls it once I'm on there?
>Cakes is being a little cunt
What's the issue?
No, I never had to deal with that.
Browserhax loads automatically and gets stuck on a red screen.
This never happened before, I already unlinked.
I just want to install menuhax, to finally install my games.
And I can't finish this bullshit because homebrew gets stuck on the fucking red screen.
Just did the downgrader but had an error, boots to menu, says I'm on 9.2 but cant use internet browser. I still have access to homebrew launcher I'm just cautious before doing anything else because didn't the internet browser restriction not happen until later updates?
The Pastebin involving error 2634 is a little poorly worded so I would like to clarify it.
Basically, I'm to install the NVER into my SysNand right?
Then I'll boot RXtools into my Sysnand and run FMP so I can link my sysnand to my NNID right?
>Yes. Unlinking involves wiping sysNAND, so you have to setup everything again. Although, 'everything' really just means menuhax.
Anon I can't enter into browserhax, I get a red screen and can't install menuhax.
Alright so I was following this guide: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
I have an O3DS, so I was told to only do the emunand part of that guide and then use RX tools.
The thing is, in the root of my SD card is now a boot.3dsx
Is it safe to overwrite that with the starter kit? Also I was told to use RXTools cfw instead of cakes, so I assume I can forget the rest of the first guide and do that?
And last thing, I can update the emunand through the system menu to 10.3 without a problem right? I have them with different themes to make sure I can differentiate them at a moments notice.
Ill help you both.
Get any .3ds of Triforce Heroes, use 3ds to CIa converter, hit the "FW SPOOF" box while you do everything. Use this link to update it with a spoofed update cia.
Same with Animal crossing. Grab a EUR or USA happy home designer .3ds use converter, FW SPOOF it. Use this link to update the game and stay Spoofed
>What's the issue?
Honestly at this point I've got no fucking clue, it just blackscreens, I have hbl set to load on boot, it blackscreens when selected from there, ctr hangs when it tries to run it, but if I hold the trigger I set to boot into sysNAND and then get to hbl through browserhax it then works perfectly.
I don't know how any of this works but could it maybe be that I installed menuhax through sysNAND? (or something) And that if I change my sysNAND theme to wipe it, get to emuNAND through browserhax and then use my hbl loader icon to get to hbl and install menuhax through there, it'll work?
SysUpdater keeps crashing the moment I press Y
How do I run virtual console cias without installing them on sysnand?
guys i can install fbi and games in sysnNAD but not in emuNAD, what to i do to fix this, and whats with the ribbon package
I started with rxTools 2.6, followed a coldboot tutorial which gave me a nightly edition of rxTools (folder apparently was edited in october.) put it in place of the 2.6's folder, came with all the files pregenerated (code.bin, sys folder etc.) moved my firmware.bin into the sys folder, setup the bootmanager with menuhax on my sysnand, and then it just worked. The only time I ever got the present glitch was if I screwed with rxtools 2.6 or rxtools in general, like if I messed with any of the files. but haven't seen it since, also haven't seen my sysnand since. Not sure if rxtools 2.6 caused the present thing but the nightly build I'm using hasn't caused it once. Did I just get lucky or something with the files I downloaded? Because I assumed coldbooting, no present glitch, etc. was common for linked nands too assuming they followed the tutorials right, the only thing I can't do is use themes which I don't actually care about either way.
Yes, for more information I followed all of this. >>127869994 and there was never a problem with homebrew.
It's just until now that I'm having a problem with homebrew, at the end.
Oh, this guide is yours?
I'd have a question:
You said to only put the 3DS folder of EmuNAND9 on the SD.
When I started it, the program mentioned that starter.bin is missing, but I could continue anyway.
Is it alright to continue without starter.bin?
>If it's only "sometimes" you should report it on their github. Are you on O3DS or N3DS? mid-kid only has an O3DS so it'll be easier for him to try to fix the problem if you have one as well.
I'm using O3DS with 10.3 on emuNAND. I'll report it as soon as I figure how to.
About to try this 3DS shit. Should sober up first, but fuck it. Wish me luck everyone.
guess I'll stick to visualboy advance
Can I still access the eshop after all of this? I'm thinking on uninstalling smash to make room for Fire Emblem If. Can I reinstall games off of my nintendo Id later and how do I uninstall a game properly that was installed via cia?
>Once you're done with that, return to the homebrew launcher and run the Emunand9 g is application. From here select EmuNAND Manager Options, then dump SysNAND to NAND.bin.
How fucking big is that garbage? I still have 59GB left on my card but it keeps failing and saying it's full.
I'll be really really careful. How hard is this compared to doing it for PSP/Wii/Wii Mode on WiiU? I've done those before.
