So, I hopped on the Discord Server that Keen has up, out of curiosity.

If the game does not work or I can no longer maintain it, I have little other options. That is not the case yet. If it is, I will announce it right and proper and make the gameworld available on the workshop. Right now I am looking at 108€ monthly paid for a game that is inoperable 50% of any given time.

I only mention it because I was planning to post an OP with that fixed.
This is about the fastest I've gotten anything to go in FtD, although the jets feel like they might be cheating a bit since it isn't water-based propulsion. On the other hand, since I didn't enable jet control in water mode, I can easily turn off the jets and just run with the props for a low speed, precise maneuvering mode.
Not really sure if this design has any practical applications, though.

those are custom jets.
it's basically just three dildos with oversouped custom jets welded together with some wings in between. custom jets trade the metal cost of making engines and engine powered jets, for fuel cost per time.
What did SEToolbox do, exactly?
I can see about whipping together a little program that lets you view the XML data as a collapsible tree graph or something and let you edit the data visually, if that's what you need.
It displayed all entities, allowed to edit them down to the block level, export/import, colours, owners, positions, speeds, damage states, rotations, and displayed weight, block count, distance to players and other shit.
Essentially, it turned the XML into a workable asset overview.
Some functions, like asteroid import, have been depracted because keen killed them, to some degree.

Robocrafts max RP amount is being cut down to 999,999,999RP, so that they no longer have people reaching over 2 billion and fucking up the 32bit system.
Goes into effect next week, probably during the patch that will add the new Flak Cannons.

They do patches on thursdays, so next thursday we are apparently getting a new weapon. The picture they posted makes it look like either a massive gun emplacement that will be on all the maps that each team gets, or its a new weapon type to use on your bots.

Probably bot mounted weapon. They are planning to add more of that stuff, make plasma shoot round-robin, and let bots have more than one type of weapon at the same time. Looks like they are going to start with weapons.

Aight, server has been update and is currently booting up the game world. Since the update also ruined SESE support, we are doing this with our low-tech fallback service. That means, no manual saves, only autosavves, and a couple other things that mostly affect Keo and me, but not you as players.
Server should, hopefully, be up soon. Also, I had a pretty sit day at work, my back is acting up, and I am exhausted. Soo, no maintenance has been done and the mods for the streets are missing. I'll get that done tomorrow. Soz.
Build Racers. We start with the 14x class. That means, build a racer of your choice of form factor, can be wheeled, sliding or touchless hover. It shoud work in atmosphere and around 1G and be able to make tight turns. 14x means, a maximum of 14 blocks wide and/or long, with 1-2 blocks lenience for extra slim vehicles. When you got that, give the grid a name and message me on steam. I'll try and make them indestructible, so we can race despite clang.
That also means, pls no rotor/piston stuff. I would have to make each subgrid indestructible individually...

is the FtD resource distribution in the campaign totally random every time you start or am i supposed to have barely any natural resources in my start zone and neighboring zone yet drown in metal?
The natural in this patch for the starting zone is low for some reason. I think it's being fixed.
Also, I'd rather take low natural than be forced to slowly grow all the crystal at the start again.
Hello does anyone here a robot fighting game (not mecha) from 10-15 years ago where you build your own robot for it to fight in the arena? My childhood memories are fuzzy but I remember being intrigued by that game even tho I didn't know how to play very well
They've started putting AI robots in ships now, which are pretty fucking lethal if you just run into one. Makes hijacking ships a lot harder, especially if there's multiple ones.

I feel like I'm missing some really basic points despite building what seem like well-proportioned and properly-weighted ships. It takes me something like an hour to make a tiny boat with a little cannon or a single torpedo launcher.
Is it better than Final Stage at least?
I'm about 1/3 of the way done with the Rocinante. It's a lot of heavy armor and interior walls, so it'll be expensive as fuck to build in survival. But, it's as close as I can be to source material, including the "vertical" deck orientation with the nose of the ship being up and the engines being down.
When it's finished I'll publish it to the workshop. After I finish the Roci I plan on building the Canterbury, maybe an Earther Frigate, and I've been tossing the idea of building that fuckhuge mormon generation ship cum battleship.

I make a command ship, I strip off weapons, load on resources and combat repair tentacles, with anti missile defence.
Doesn't require direct input, but assists the fleet greatly, especially early on.

Building an Ork Gargant megabot. Should I go plasma, or SMG?
I feel like the huge kaboom of plasma blasts firing every which way would fit a gargant better, and be alot more fun.
But SMGs are literally the only thing able to kill flyers, and megabot matches are filled with flyers.

If you're looking to take out barely below surface vessels, setting a depth may be appropriate, but for 3-dimensional tracking in water, simply set the ballast tank to 0 boyancy and nil depth.
This will cause your torpedo to sink or float only due to its propulsion.
I really enjoy building a laser focussed on range and using it as a fleet wide anti missile. Saves putting it on everything else.
Excess engine power on a crazy batshit frontal shield is cool too.
Though I think of command ships as kind of a rear bulwark, not something that something that sits way out of the fight.
So that might be a change in preference.
Hey /vg/, I think this is my first time posting here, so please bear with me.
I wanted to start the construction of a jet/hoverbike. I mean a vihicle that would float above the ground in atmosphere or on stations, but woudn't require to manually compensate for bumps and other changes in the ground height. So basically, like a normal bike, but with thrusters instead of wheel.
Now, I started to work with thruster ofc, and sensors were a natural choice for this work. After creating a test frame with thrusters and a sensor below, I found a problem:
While the sensor did trigger, when the distance to the ground was smaller than 1m, and then increased the override of the thruster, thus increasing the height. The problem was, that I was unable to decrease the override after the sensor wasn't triggered.
After a bit of trying (and failing) I decided that probably using the programmable block would be the way to go. Now, I did a little bit of C++ a few years ago, but I can't say I'm fluent in C#.
So I came up with [pic_related], but it says that the method used for increasing override is wrong.
Also I'm not entirely shure if this would work, as this is my first project with programming in space engineers.
Could any wise anon help me with this?

How the fug do I build antimissile in From the Depths.
With Ai plugged up to missile warner, I can get lasers to fire at it, but even big lasers on continuous or pulse can barely hit missiles, they only land hits about a third of the time, can maybe stop one.
Anti missile interceptors don't actually track onto missiles, and even if they did, I doubt they'd have the agility to actually hit them.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious.
Lasers just seem shit atm, need an insanely huge laser to actually take down missiles.

Well, I'm going to be starting a new campaign with the new resource system. The goal of this ship is to not only fly, but fly at a reasonable speed and consume zero resources while doing so.
Don't forget the in-depth character progression system with options that aren't Engineer/Miner/Mechanic, and weapons are useless.

Every time he tries to run it, he gets 'Input not supported', he's got a 1920x1080 screen and we've tried running it in both compatibility mode and 640x480 but nothing seems to work.

Yeah that's a good point, missiles probably the answer.
Obviously you can use corner propellers to prevent roll and pitch from changing, meaning they only ever tilt down where the barrel is pointed death circles, but then you're designing a genuine gunship.

Here's what I ended up doing. The missiles drop right off the belly of the ship, and two seconds later the thrusters engage with a one-turn to get them on target. Not exactly the deadliest vessel I've made, but this is a resource hauler so it'll be protected by slightly more competent combat ships.

This machine is programmed to kill redditors.
Max speed of 31 m/s, cruises at about 20. Depends on the wind. Flies at 350m. Carries 2-4 million of every resource in dedicated and misc containers. And, of course, zero fuel consumption and no engines.
Probably not the most efficient transport around, but it was a neat little challenge.

It'd be fairly precise if I hadn't overclocked it to fire three shells per gun per rotation. It's only firing half-meter shells so it's already above the needed barrel length for "optimum accuracy".
But the overclocking does murder the precision, yes.

Your top speed is now server side. So, if you have 1.0 simu speed, and you go full tilt at 100m/s, and the server is 0.5 simu speed, your topspeed is 50m/s.

Trying to maneuver a 50' trailer through parking lots and cities is a pain in the ass. I worked in a warehouse for 4 years and our parking lot was shit for getting deliveries. One of the 3 ways to get in to the lot would end up with the trailer getting stuck because of the decline

It's a pain but it's not as bad as it may seem since people pretty much have to stop what they are doing for you. I drive a giant van when I do installs and I find it less stressful than driving my personal since most people tend to give clearance and stop for you, plus drunks can easily see you.

That's stupid as fuck, you probably don't make shit whereas if you just jumped around a bit you'd make a lot more and build overall value. I picked up a trade while trying to figure out what I wanted to do and was already making 60k after 4 months and am looking to be making 80k by the end of this year. I have yet to paint anything, and I'm using stock parts because when I use the server modgroup I crash about every hour. Once I finish it with stock, I'll load up the modlist on a creative and bring it in to edit things.

Depends on where you live, I know Washington has a particularly high CoL making 15-22 not very much. I was offered a job in Seattle making 76k at a point when I was making 42k with a 20 a day PD but when I did the math it turned out to be pretty much the same income overall.
At this point you should just join the military. You'll make more money doing the same kind of awful crap. Plus sometimes you'll get to hang out in a room full of bombs.

I had to drive a submarine with a guy who very obviously had very severe ADHD for a while.
He set new records for being off course. Literally 40 degrees off ordered course one time because he couldn't pay attention to the heading indicator. You can fall asleep for like a minute, wake up and be less off course than that.
I still need to get around to adding the paddles to the wheel, but the weaponry is coming along nicely.
They shouldn't, each side turret puts out a pair of 125mm shells each second while the main wheel is putting around six 500mm shells downrange each second. The side turrets are also pure KEP rounds which is pretty inefficient. They're mainly there to give me a firing arc that's not trivial to escape and to make shields less able to tell the entire ship to fuck off.
Shit's crammed in pretty tight. It's one-block customizer rounds, so the powder load is pretty low and cooling is multiplicative so a big number goes down really fast.
Shit's also going to leave around a quarter of the ship left if the magazine goes up, but that's fun too.
Even when fucking up speedtanks make excellent snipers for their ability to reposition quickly.

Alright Spengies. Kromkar again. I'm finishing up the Rocinate, but I've run into a pretty big problem. The ship is built true to canon, which means the main thrusters in the ass of the ship are technically on the "bottom".
So when I pilot it, the ship is basically incorrectly oriented 90* in regards to thrust direction and control scheme, where forward is towards the dorsal spine and up moves it towards the fore of the ship.
Is there any way to change which movement keys the thrusters respond to? The large thrusters for foreward propulsion are currently moving "Up"
This is a waste of resources isn't it.
