-NOTICE: January 11th http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/01/extended_nintendo_network_maintenance_on_the_way
-Menu/Iron/Browserhax all work on the latest firmware again! DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew.
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works on every firmware including 10.3.
>Is downgrading safe?
Things are going pretty well. Some bricks are simply people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the risks.
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries, especially with New 3DS. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-Apparently, the Wii U and 3DS use the same fucking keys... LOL
-Hykem is being weird.
-Linux can run on PS4. Thanks /g/.
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
Alright, is there a reason emunand can't be updated past 9.5 on N3DS?
Doesn't this limit your ability to play newer games that require firmware higher than 9.5+?
Does it limit your ability to play newer games ONLINE?
After a day and a half of tweaking around and googling I'm finally at the point where everything is set up neatly and works the way I want them to work. Now comes the fun part: downloading games
I know this is p-much /3ds/ at these times but I'm asking anyway.
Should I stop updating my ps4 in hopes of anything sometime in the future?
Something something N3DS has new Arm9 security something something changed password, nobody knows key, can't decrypt new firmware etc
maybe 10.3/4 will be available if gateway's solution to 10.3 isn't just a downgrade
>tfw booting up your 3ds feels like booting up a computer
its a good feel mang
not really. you can play online games as long as they're updated (via .cias)
you can't run roms unless you run a firmpatched/cryptofixed version of the rom, which people upload often on 3DSISO
you can't access eshop but you can by spoofing higher firmware via NVER/TIGER method. google for that, because a tut is on gbatemp
I'd like to request a revision to the Downgrading tutorial pastebin: I think there should be a small addition to a sentence so it reads "if your 3ds turns on (whether or not the SD card is in the slot)". I know the guide goes on to say that, but if you're following the guide step by step you might be put off and, oh, I don't know, assume you fucked up and try all over again.
Not that I did that, haha
How do I update emunand from 9.2 to 9.5? I keep on getting a title exception error with my current set up. I'm running browserhax in emunand to open sysupdater and I've made sure to have the updates folder with the 9.5 .cia's at the root of my sd.
I think they gave hints how to find the keys (or maybe they actually did give the keys) but never actually gave them. Unsure, but we could also wait for hykem to hack the wiiu and that might lead us in the right direction.
of course, i could be completely wrong. this is what i got out of watching that conference
use browserhax to set up menuhax on sysnand. install homebrew launcher loader by yellows8 as a .cia channel for emunand HBL access
For patches are they just self-updating .cia installs or does it wipe out the entire game/save?
For roms do you need one patched or "cryptofixed" for your specific firmware? E.G 9.2 rom for 9.2, 9.5 rom for 9.5? or are they backwards compatible once "patched".
Eshop shouldn't be needed for anything if you pirate all relevant cia's right?
Does DLC content install/update from stand alone .cia's too?
Okay everything is there and installed but I can't tell if EmuNAND is working or not. I tried playing around with the themes to see what's going on.
If I boot normally, regular 3DS menu. If I boot using Cakes then I have a 3DS menu with a red theme I put on it. Neither system menu has RX in front of the version number.
Of course. You're probably already too far for the currently know exploits, but if you're going to update you're definitely going to lose them. If you actually care about using your bluray reader and, hopefully, steam macine later on, I think you might want to update though.
So I just finished installing everything and rxTools is up and running, how do I put games on this thing now? Do I need special cia files? Everytime I try using FBI, the cias don't install.
I don't have access to a windows PC. Can someone download 000400DB20016102 v448 CIA from 3DNUS and upload to mega or something.
I was going to wait until downgrading works more stable (as in not having to try many times).
I'm on 9.9.0-26E and Nintendo can't fix the Browser without me accepting an update, right?
But it's better to downgrade until Jan 11th because if a softbrick happens, I need to load the newest firmware and the hax work on 10.3.
So if I wait, it softbricks, I'm on 10.4 and fucked, right?
Guess I'll do it on Sat/Sun then
Alright, I give up. This is just frustrating and I don't care anymore. How do I clean my SD card out and fix all this shit? All I have to do is start it up with a certain button code, right? Can someone tell me what it is. I wouldn't know
Why is sliderhax such a piece of shit holy fuck. Do I REALLY need to run it from Pasta to install FBI like the pastebin says, or could I just run menuhax by holding L after I run PastaCFW?
I'm trying to follow everything exactly, but I can't stand this bullshit, I have Initialized the Save Data, deleted the webkithax payload and scanned the QR so many fucking times but it has only booted once ever (which I installed menuhax).
Phew, l made it!! Now...
>First off we'll need signature patching so we can run FBI. To do this, launch Pasta. It'll kick you back to your home menu, only this time with signature patching, allowing you to install whatever you want. If Pasta doesn't work, try MiniPasta. Now return to the homebrew menu via the browserhax URL again. Once here, launch FBI. Now that you're in FBI you can install .cia files. Go to where you save fbi.cia and install it. This will allow you to access FBI from your home menu instead of the homebrew launcher.
l already installed menuhax and went back to the homebrew launcher. lt said there that l need to launch Pasta or MiniPasta but those are not present in the homebrew launcher...
What do l do? you handsome tech savvy faggots.
After I downgrade to 9.2 I can take my sweet time getting pirated games to work?
Will iosu control give us the required permission to install unsigned system titles like the 3ds?
I fucked something up and I haven't seen anyone else with this issue. I'm on O3DS and just updated my emuNAND to the latest firmware throught the system menu and when it autoboots into emuNAND I just keep getting "An error has occured. Please save any data and restart" and my screen refreshes real quick.
I keep getting "Failed to get CIA file info", except I'm using the exact same folder I used when I did it earlier. I tried recopying it thinking that maybe something got deleted somehow, but a dozen attempts later and I got the same error again. I really wish to stress that I'm using the exact same "updates" folder which worked previously in the correct position. There is no possibility of this being user error.
Some dude on reddit said I needed to "reset your dbs folder in sysNAND", but I have no clue what that means.
I'm so fucking tired of rxTools not coldbooting. Nothing works.
But I'm okay as long as I never update past 9.2 on sysnand right? I can always get in rxtools through the browser so long as I never update, right?
I just need help to install 9.2 on my sysnand
I'm currently in 6.2 and I really don't want to have to upgrade to 10.3 and then redowngrade to 9.2 just to do this:
can someone explain to me what are the benefits of unlinking emunand and sysnands? i know when i boot into emunand i have to unwrap the cias i have installed. and i know not to boot into sysnand and look at my save data/data management because that will destroy what i have installed on emunand.
If you want to, but if you're anything like me, you'll forget how to do half the shit and be even worse off later on so it's best to do it when you sort of know what you're doing.
Help. How do I switch sd cards? I know it's not as easy as a drag and drop.
>For patches are they just self-updating .cia installs or does it wipe out the entire game/save?
Self-updating. Should be fine with your saves. Just make sure it's the right update for the right region. Some games require you to install updates in canoncial order (i think? if not then every) like smash/mh4u
For roms do you need one patched or "cryptofixed" for your specific firmware? E.G 9.2 rom for 9.2, 9.5 rom for 9.5? or are they backwards compatible once "patched".
Pretty sure it applies to all, but I think they cryptofix assuming 9.5 minimum. dunno for sure, haven't done it myself
>Eshop shouldn't be needed for anything if you pirate all relevant cia's right?
Correct. If you want to support the dev spoof eshop with NVER/TIGER and buy or just get the cart and dump it via gateway menu, then convert .3ds to .cia with some tool via google (it exists, dunno the name)
>Does DLC content install/update from stand alone .cia's too?
Yes, but you won't see them on the home menu: It'll behave as if you got it from eshop
You have to put pasta in the /3ds/ folder
should be in pasta.zip
Remove SD card. does it work? could be homemenuhax 10.3 payload crashing it
>Wah I give up this is frustrating and I don't care!
You wouldn't need our help to delete everything, so an alternative meaning of your complain is you want to be spoonfed a working solution or your "intended" message, whichever comes first.
DL the thing in the description, take out the Homebrew boot.3dsx and replace it with the rxtools one also called boot.3dsx.
I think that should be it. Well, make sure you have normal menuhax installed.
Pretty much this. If you have emunand you should format emunand with the same tool you used for the other card (gateway or emunand9), extract emunand from old sdcard via EmuNAND Tool, inject into new card, then copy all your files over
rename rxtool.3dsx to boot.3dsx. change the original boot.3dsx to something else. then when you turn on your 3ds and boot menuhax it will boot rxtools instead. right into emunand
/hbg/ I installed the .cia version of HBL onto my emuNAND home screen but when I run it, it just takes me back to ctrbootmanager
Pls help an Anon out
How can i get rid of cakes so I can install RXtools, I hate this
After installing and booting Majora's Mask in RXTools, I get forced back to the home menu with a message saying "an error has occurred, forcing the software to close. The system will now restart".
What went wrong with the installation?
I'm trying to play a EU region game on a NA system if that matters.
Thanks in advance.
sysnand hides it because OFW doesn't like seeing unsigned shit on home menu. you should see it if you run pasta on sysnand, though. regarding getting it on emunand, see >>127851148
Hey hbg, one question:
My refurb 2DS might not get here in time before Nintendo patches browserhax, so I was planning on heading to Best Buy to buy a new 2DS there to downgrade now. What are my chances if I go return the refurb console to Best Buy once it arrives?
Nigga I already said I give up, I just want to know how to reset. I remember reading somewhere that there was a recovery mode or some shit that you can get to that just updates your shit back to 10.3 but I can't find it.
I'm following both of these two guides to clarify any question
But when I got to #2 step 15 it says that I don't copy the NAND.bin while the other guide says nothing about leaving files behind.
What do I do? I don't want to fuck up my console
>>127856890 here, people who have a consistent boot rate with this shit, how do you boot it? I use the camera+QR code. Is using it as "homepage" more consistent? It may be my shit internet though, but fuck this.
Gotta sleep now, I'll deal with this bullshit tomorrow. At least I'm on 9.2 and it's working great since Pasta booted.
>eShop is giving an error when using it on emunand 10.3
I remember seeing a fix to it in a guide somewhere, but I can't find it. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, I'd appreciate the link.
Alternatively, if someone can just tell me how to fix this.
The thing is the best buy units only come with the bundle, and while the refurb consoles are pretty much new, the packaging does say that it's a refurb. I would need to take the console out and put it in the other box.
Thanks a lot friend, now its dumping Sysnand into NAND.bin so this is gonna take a while.
Btw where do you all get the game from? l have an O3DS model ending in U if that helps.
I saved it. Took me a couple of tries till I realize the NNID I was suppose to use was the one I had on my emuNAND, and then it worked perfectly
"o3DS eShop access.
Once you have set up your CFW:
1. Backup your emuNAND.
2. Backup all emuNAND files (ticket.db etc.) with rxTools.
3. Backup the content of your SD card.
4. Format emuNAND.
5. Recover your SD card content and boot rxTools in emuNAND.
6. Update to 10.3.0-28X and boot into emuNAND again.
7. Go to system settings and to NNID at the top; follow instructions.
8. Boot emuNAND and start the eShop; simply restart the 3DS if it keeps looping after the password input.
9. Once in the eShop, close it and shut down.
10. Recover your whole SD card once more. *
11. Inject emuNAND backup.
12. Inject all emuNAND file backups.
13. Start the eShop in emuNAND and it should refresh your software.
14. And now you should have emuNAND eShop access without any loss of StreetPass/Save/Friend/etc. data.
* Might not be necessary.
I just wrote this based on the link posted here and something else I found online. Worked for me perfectly."
dumb question, i got fbi and shovel knight working, but only in sysnAND, not emuAND, whats up?
3DSISO. Make an account and use an adblocker. I hear MEGA is kinda shit for non-US-non-Europe people though, but that's the only recommendation I got, sorry.
Make sure you backup emunand with emunand tool too, by the way: that's where your actual system is
Another question, both guides split up from there on, one explains the steps on something about "cakes" while the other goes back and forth with browserhax and homebrew.
What is this cakes thing and is one I should follow over the over?
i... dont know? i followed
> just pasta>browserhax>fbi.3dsx>fbi.cia to install FBI back to sysnand
You won't see it on sysnand unless you're in a CFW so you'll have to run pasta for sysnand again to run it if you reboot
and to my surprise FBI and Shovel installed quicky, but i dont know what to do now, im not supposed to use sysnAND right?
>you got a 3ds game or two for Christmas
>now you feel bad that your loved ones literally wasted money
Okay, so I downloaded the SmashDLC.cia and installed it, but when I started the game, it only gave me Mewtwo, the only character I purchased. Is there something special I have to do?
If it comes down to it, I'm totally ready to format, backup, and get a fresh NAND.
Alright its done but the guide says:
> Once this is finished, press select to unmount your SD card. At this point you're going to leave the 3DS powered on, but eject the SD card. Put the SD card in your computer and back up all your files. The next step is going to wipe your SD card so this is important. You may also want to backup NAND.bin to several places, as it's useful for restoring your SysNAND in an emergency.
But in pic related there is no SELECT promp. Sorry if it is a retarded question l just really dont want to fuck up.
Try to avoid sysnand whenever you can. Update EmuNAND to 9.5 via the official sysupdater by profi200
Keep FBI. Uninstall shovel knight if you aren't planning to play it on sysnand (should be safe if it works though, up to you) Use 3dsdb.com to find out which titleID/header shovel knight uses so you know which title to uninstall
Could do this too, but would have to re-install FBI again if you ever need to install NAND related stuff, GBA injections, or DSi injections
What firmware are you on? None of the exploits are triggered by going to System Update.
I can't say for sure, but speaking from experience, as someone who has had zero problem with anything so far and my NNID still works like a charm, I'm going to say it doesn't matter.
Why would you link two different pastebins for the same tutorial? It's like you want to see people fail.
If I'm at step 0 on an O3DSXL on 9.9.0-26U, should I start here? http://pastebin.com/ZfA8wtA2
No idea what you just said, but if your emuNAND is 400MB then it is corrupted.
EmuNAND is 1GB on O3DS. 2GB on N3DS.
You should be following the downgrade guide linked in OP. browserhax>menuhax>sysupdater by either tux or julian
worked for me, but be very careful of doing the back ups of everything correctly, specially the nand, seing how you can't just copy it with your pc like the rest of the sd. the emunand tool should be ideal for both the backing up step and the re injecting step (https://gbatemp.net/threads/emunand-tool-release-and-support-thread.359239/)
No, you can get a new sd card and get back to emuNAND9 and unplug your 4gb one and format the new one when it prompts you.
Then copy over all the files on your 4gb card and it's effectively the same thing.
I did this and menuhax even worked on my first boot.
For consistency purposes, I recommend it: I heard some people downgrading from 9.9 had newer browser for some reason. Downgrading is weird, so just get on 10.3.
Thanks for the correction, will keep that in mind for the future.
Yes. Back up your files first though. Format with EMUNAND9, not Gateway Launcher. You need at least 1GB of space on O3DS, and apparently 1.3GB for N3DS.
Idk what I'm missing, but what is the normal way to access the rxTools menu to boot emunand? The only way I can get to emunand at the moment is with that link.
I have the physical card of MH4U, and after updating my emuNAND (which i'm playing on) and pressing the home menu freezes my game. Can any other anon confirm that this happens to them too?
Still can't get browserhax worked in downgraded 9.2 old 3DS.
I've tried countless times, tried clicking on every sides of that fucking slider. Is getting sliderhax work is just as random as sysupdater? Downgrading took my entire afternoon yesterday.
can I safely just restart the whole process on another SD card with my original o3ds backup that I made, or am I too late
when hykem decides to stop being a little bitch and releases his exploit
you could, i guess. isn't as convenient because you can't really exit HBL easily without a reboot though (i guess you could run your cfw again? pressing home from a channel is much faster though honestly)
make sure you've initialized /dbs/
so I've been following this guide http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
And I almost got everything working
I got to emuNAND with FBI and my other CIAs on there
I went to the last step, using CTR to simplify things, yet now cakes just boots into ctr instead of my emuNAND homescreen after I use it, basically ending up in a permanent loop until my DS freezes
Is there some way to fix this or should I just ignore ctr altogether and boot with menuhax into hbl into cakes every time
Aus is E, yep
Yes, remove tubehax and update. Put it back after you're completely done, but remove it for emunand so you can update emunand properly
doesn't matter, i covered that in the quoted post. if you are unlinked you should have two separate folders in /Nintendo 3DS/ with your different NAND ids, and all your channels should be gone from sysnand but exist on emunand. change your emunand theme to distinguish between the two, check the size of those two folders, and make a .txt in /Nintendo 3DS/ so you can log which is which for future reference
Think I should just downgrade my New 3DS right now or wait for that faggot with the whatever Time Machine? My New 3DS is on 9.9 right now.
use browserhax again to set up menuhax. if you have o3ds you'll be using sliderhax, where you zoom in all the way when the page loads, move all the way top-left, then tap the left side of the slider twice to trigger the exploit
could take a couple of tries: isn't as consistent as the 10.3 hack. clear browser cache+history if still giving problems
Im on a N3DS. I used browserhax, installed Menuhax, set it to autoboot into HBL unless I press X using this guide
Still doesnt boot into HBL on startup. Any idea?
Fuck FBI Injection, see: >>127851148
No but EmuNAND can, which is why it exists.
Dunno but just use the official sysupdater by profi200 to do it. make a nand backup first with emunand tool
Every place I find these CIAs says they need to be firmware patched to be used on certain firmware. Gonna DL it anyways though, I can't lose with free.
DON'T UPDATE SYSNAND EVER. YOU'LL LOSE CFW.
Just use sysupdater. You already used it to downgrade anyways.
Different anon here. So for someone who hasn't set up emunand and CFW yet, would this be prevented by updating emunand and setting up NNID in it before CFW?
Also should I use the same NNID as my previously legit sysnand (which I formatted in order to downgrade)?
using an o3ds with rxMode, tried installing dlc for the second taiko game, both the version patch and dlc are detected on FBI, game runs fine but the dlc is nonexistant
anything I might be doing wrong/missing?
I have a 16GB Class 4 PNY MicroSD card (for God knows why). I'm guessing this ain't gonna cut it, even though I already have IronHax installed. Should probably just go with a fresh 32GB Class 10 card
You're trying to set up autoboot on N3DS? Make sure you deleted any 10.3-related payloads from root. You also need CTRBootManager's boot.3dsx and boot.cfg on root. Get boot.3dsx from the starter.zip, which is the homebrew launcher. Name it to some 4-character filename like fuck, cunt, shit, etc
Open boot.cfg in a text editor and replace "boot_hb.3dsx" with your file.3dsx
Try again and see if that works. If it gives you a red screen, try again: probably just bad luck (should work every time after that though)
Finally! If you have a N3DS and it keeps soft bricking you have to format the 3DS.
Alright thanks. I'll just update to 10.3 then downgrade. I heard the guy working on whatever-TR being a flaky faggot anyways.
I actually managed to downgrade my OG 3DS on 9.9 but that was because I had Ironhax.
I was referring to N3DS, but I assume you can install the update files needed to play, for instance, Paper Jam on a N3DS without updating past 9.5.
Also, I realize my question was dumb. Just trying to be retardedly clear. I'm still on Step 0
im trying to follow this, but it is written a bit confusing. so i go into hombrew and selent the emunand app, then what? because the next step is supposedly to put somethin in your root.
yeah i know i probably sound stupid, but just trying to be extra carefull since N3ds breaks easily

How do I use EmuNand9? Theres no tutorial. Nothing in the OP. I'm trying to start over and it says in the readme that I'm able to apply a fresh SD card with my pre-existing emunand.
Do I just copy the files over?
Hello, I'm trying to run cakeW, I already have rxTools and bootmanager.
When I try to run Cakes.dat it does some stupid shit. Sometimes it boots back to boot magaer, sometimes it just gets stuck on a red screen. Same thing for cakefw homebrew app. Anyone can help ?
Thanks anon, not sure what the fuck I did to have this cancerous shit, but I also have that awful Error Code: 022-2634 too, so maybe that's what's up. I have a 32gb Sandisk so space isn't an issue, and I'm also running an O3DS too - but I appreciate you testing it out either way, there's some hope I can fix it then (or if some other anon had the same issue i'm all ears.)
How do I install non 3DS .cia?
Like custom made .cia of dsiware stuff.
Question, did you add the gateway launcher.dat to your bootmanager? does that work? Like I thought you had to use browserhax for that shit to work? Can I really just add launcher.dat as a path and boot into gateway if I ever need to?
Assuming you're stuck on the first step for linking the nands again, you should be putting your SD card in the computer and running EmuNAND Tool, which is a windows program. Let it extract the NAND.bin from your SD card, and put the NAND.bin it extracts back on root named "NAND.bin". Then flash that file back into sysnand via gateway launcher
Install those to sysnand, run it in a cfw like pasta or rxtools pasta mode. if it still doesn't run in sysnand make sure that you have TWL_FIRM and AGB_FIRM patched to your NAND on sysnand. you can find those on the downgrade/update pack thread on 3DSISO
I'm the retarded anon who read you have to have minimum firmware. I know there is a way to patch CIA files to spoof FW. I'm testing Paper Jam now anyways because the other anon told me to.
Did most people just end up doing this for their New 3DS XL's with the back popped off? Cause I'm aware there's a lot of back and forth between computer and 3DS with the microSD card.
CIAs are just installers. Once they're injected, the CIA itself doesn't do shit.
You can either do that, or just use the Micro SD Manager built into the system.
Unless you're a Macfag :^)
Alright l already dumped SysNAND to NAND.bin. and did the Complete EmuNAND Setup. l saved the content of my SD card before l did each of those things and l have pic related now. Am l doing good? what happens if l get a bigger SD card?
Me personally, yes. You can also try sending files over 3DSFTP if you're tech-savvy enough
Dunno how fast that actually is though: probably really slow
>So just open up fbi and select to install it to sysnand right?
You can't install .cia with FBI unless you are in CFW. PastaCFW boots back into sysnand so use that (hold trigger button to prevent menuhax) get back in HBL then run FBI to install FBI.cia
>Then boot up pastamode which doesn't pose any risk to my sysnand correct?
Nah. Just be careful if you ever choose to install any .cia to NAND while in pasta cfw on sysnand
Currently in emuNAND with rxMode and have TinyFormat installed.
The guide says to just run it to unlink my NANDs, but I'm still in emuNAND.
So do I run it and then reinject FBI to emunand after that? or do I reboot my 3DS and then run it?
Anybody can help me? im trying to install the smash dlc but it doesnt fucking work and i was thinking, maybe its because
A) im playing my smash in my physical copy
B) i already had bought a dlc before, Mewtwo
or C) both
>Alright l already dumped SysNAND to NAND.bin. and did the Complete EmuNAND Setup.
Oh god, is that the NAND.bin you dumped before you formatted sysnand or after? Did you complete emunand setup on the same card or is this your other card?
Do you have any backups of your emunand?
You're in luck nigga, I just had to deal with this no more than 2 hours ago. Go to Nintendo 3DS/(huge string of numbers)/(huge string of numbers 2)/dbs, delete both files and replace them with 2 blank files named the same. Then go to System Setting on emuNAND > Data Management > Software and tap Yes.
I need to get to 9.2 from 6.2. on my o3ds.
I really don't want to upgrade then downgrade, so does anyone have any ideas?
Anyone else use the chmm.cia? I have no Idea why it wont work for me
Quick question, my 3DS is set up to auto boot to sysnand, and emunand if L is being pressed while its turning on, i have an O3ds, running crt booting thingy, is there anyways i can change it so that its the other way around? Autoboot to emunand, press L for sysnand, but without using a pc?
>mfw not taking actual legitimate advice
bro, that initializes dbs so you can install .cia properly. it's even in all the cfw tutorials.
Do you have OoT, Cubic Ninja or Smash? (Region, btw?)
>I know I grabbed one of the eShop awhile back, and having it would make my life a little easier.
Screw that, use SaveDataFiler.cia and let it manage (decrypt, even) your saves to SD:/filer
you can use this method to move saves between 3DSes+sd cards+your computer, too
there's many different versions, but you can find them on either OP or the 3DSISO firmware thread
>I don't. I'm in the US.
Nobody you can borrow from? What about a DS mode flashcart that runs on your 3DS?
... If not, you might as well update.
>1. Use the browser 'Initialize savedata' option.
Nigger, there is no such thing. I mean, Step 2 is basically the same fucking thing, so I assume this guy is just posting out of his ass.
That guide is outdated (doesn't even have downgrading in it) and i don't recommend it, in fact i think some 9.2 downgraders get inconsistent results compared to true 9.2 users...
Get a newer build of rxtools at https://lavanoid.github.io/ and run it as a .3dsx from HBL via homemenuhax
I would've been fine with it but I got far too paranoid about the posibility that nintendo takes the sites needed down, or that the sites naturally die.
Did you use a nightly build of rxTools, follow the tutorials and most importantly of all have firmware.bin in your rxTools/sys folder?
Yeah l was following these steps:
>Once you're done with that, return to the homebrew launcher and run the Emunand9 application. From here select EmuNAND Manager Options, then dump SysNAND to NAND.bin. This can take up to ten minutes, so make sure it's plugged into a charger if the battery is low.
Once you've finished transferring those files to your computer and you've put the SD card back in, press b twice to get back to the main menu of Emunand9. This time you're going to select Complete EmuNAND Setup, it will format your SD card, create an emunand partition, and copy your sysnand to it. This will likely take as long as it took to dump your NAND earlier. Once it's done, you now have an emuNAND. Your CIA manager is already installed there if you did this right, since you installed FBI before creating an emuNAND. Once that's done, you might want to make an emuNAND backup as well. This is next to the option you selected before for dumping sysNAND to a file. After you've done that, shutdown your 3DS and put your SD card back in your computer, then copy all your backed up files to your SD card again. The emuNAND you just created will take up 1GB of space on an O3DS and 2GB of space on an N3DS. This space takes the form of a hidden partition, not a file. Keep this in mind if you ever switch SD cards. You'll have to do more than just copy all your files over.
Dear lord dont tell me l fucked up. l have pic related saved in my computer and in 2 other SD just in case
There's an update option in the sysupdater tool. I don't know what it does, but I can take a guess and say that it'll grab the firmware files and update to whatever firmware you've given it. It probably works better than downgrading, since you presumably don't need to chain all the exploits toghether in order to gain the kernel permission needed to downgrade, if the kernel by default accepts any firmware with a higher number than it's own.
I'm speaking as someone who has no involvement in the development, so this is all conjecture on my part.
>Did you use a nightly build of rxTools, follow the tutorials and most importantly of all have firmware.bin in your rxTools/sys folder?
I'm using 2.6, the version the imgur guide said to use
too paranoid to make the switch since I have 32gb of games installed which took hours because of having to slowly transfer shit to my PC that has a card reader
I really have no other choice but to switch to nightly for autoboot?
Oh yeah that's fine then. Complete EmuNAND setup takes your original NAND.bin and copies it to your SD card. Formatting sysnand with the sd card out gives it a totally new ID, reading from a totally different /Nintendo 3DS/ folder.
You're doing fine if you followed what those instructions say, just keep that original sysnand dump safe somewhere.
But I would still follow >>127851148 because later on you might (if you're not so lucky) find FBI Injection to be a pain in the ass
Anyway to answer your previous question, to move to a new sd card: Complete Emunand setup on new card, extract NAND.bin from old card via emunand tool, inject into new card via same tool, copy files over
Damn /hbg/ is crazy now that downgrading is a thing. Haven't been here in a couple of months I have an O3DS XL on 8.1.0 with emunand all set up already a while ago but now I see that coldbooting is possible.
Looks like I need themehax and ctrboot mgr but how do I get an entrypoint for kickass homebrew on <9.2 (8.1 in my case)
Assuming browserhax does get patched out, would I or anyone else be screwed if something ever happened to our SD card with emunand installed on it?
Would it be wise to create a backup SD card with emunand installed?
Or is this a non-issue now that my sysnand is <=9.2
I just have this fear of my SD card not working one day.
RxTools won't remove your cfw/emunand. it's just a way to access it. Also you don't have to delete the 2.6 crap either, I'm on linked nands, have the 2.6 version along with a nightly build (find a stable one, try different versions, preferably find one with the sys folder and other shit pre-generated because you need python to generate them and that's annoying.) Then voila just follow any of the basic ctrbootmanager guides with a nightly build. (seriously remember to put Firmware.bin into your rxtools/sys folder if you do it.)
But Nah I don't think you can Coldboot with 2.6 I may be wrong but I've yet to find a way or hear of one. 2.6 isn't even better than nightly builds/3.0 though Imo. Legitimately haven't noticed any negatives with nightly/3.0
If anything it's been better. No more present glitch since I changed dunno if it's related though, doubt it. but still nice. Also no internet requirements.
>Yes there is. You are retarded.
When you start the browser, it does the fucking setup automatically. It wasn't even necessary go get the homebrew launcher working. Like, why even post unnecessary shit that's just more to do?
>durr ur so dumm how u tye ur shooz
It's unnecessarily convoluted and you fucking know it.
You mean the browser options? I don't get why the fella would tell you to do something manually after the browser automatically does it.
>find a stable one, try different versions, preferably find one with the sys folder and other shit pre-generated because you need python to generate them and that's annoying.)
well I guess I'll go looking for it
Oh. I see, thanks. But now I need HBL. which means I need menuhax. which means I need ironfall, which means I need 9.2-10.3... or do I?
in any case, I dont even have a route to HBL yet.
Try getting on eshop, let it fail (assuming you haven't updated to 10.3 on it. do it if you are on o3ds)
Then try installing the .cias again
That's actually it though. rxTools.dat is outdated and the browser method is kind of buggy. The new location is rxtools/sys/code.bin and that is loaded by the .3dsx in the /3ds/ folder, which can be run via HBL
I found mine off some dude's post regarding booting errors,
on reddit's 3dshacking sub. check there. Just checked the mega link and it went down but surely some other people uploaded pre-genned ones. Or just use python if you're not lazy like I am. Also apparently the newest nightly is shoddy for some, maybe try the second or some other nightly. but give the newest a try if you want. I think I'm using a slightly outdated nightly.
Oh, I see it now. How fucking hard would it have been to say "if you've used the browser before?" Like literally how fucking hard is it to write one sentence.
Let me tell you. It's less hard than writing everything else he did.
oy, feck off, cunt
Clarify what you mean by delete everything.
To be honest, I doubt you even did it correctly since you replied a little over a minute after I posted the instructions which should be physically impossible considering all the steps >>127861239
Yeah, sure. N3DS can't go past 9.5 though and must be updated manually via sysupdater by profi200.
Should be in nightly builds. merge the /3ds/ folder with your sd card one and it'll be in homebrew launcher menu. make sure that you run cdn_firm.py with python 2.7 installed and copy the /firm/ folder over to rxtools/sys/<here> before trying to run it, or it'll just blackscreen on you
N3DS or O3DS, by the way? This might not work on N3DS, and i'd have to link a different build
I'm using o3ds with 10.3 emuNAND. For me to change sd cards, I do this?
Go to emuNAND9.
Select emuNAND Manager Options.
Select Dump EmuNAND to EmuNAND,bin
Save to computer and insert new sd card.
Use 3DS Multi EmuNAND Creator.
Select Inject emuNAND using the EmuNAND.bin that was created.
I just did all this on a 16gb SD card, went and got a 32gb SD card for more space got all the way to the end with no problems but now when I reboot the system into emuNand the CIAs i Installed on Big Blue Menu are gone.
Halp, the Title manager CIA app is staying but not the games.
You need to be more specific. What went wrong?
Did you inject your EmuNAND from the old card to the new one? Did you copy the Nintendo 3DS folder over, too?
Dunno if that works, but I'd format emunand on the new card with the same 3ds, inject the old card's nand into the new one with EmuNAND Tool, then copy all your files over
patch agb_firm to sysnand. run gba on sysnand. if you want to run on emunand, patch both nands and inject the rom on both nands too.
this must be done for any DSi-related games too, and happens because AGB_FIRM requires a reboot
You need to inject your old nand into that card, or it will not read the correct /Nintendo 3DS/ folder
I feel dumb, I forgot to click PastaCFW and reinstall it, but now I'm successfully
downloading super mystery dungeon, thanks for your help anyways anons.
fuck you too
Just this final step and I'm finished.
I'm tired, I don't get this.
1. Run EmuNAND Tool on my pc (What program? I don't have it)
2. Dump EmuNAND and put the bin in /root.
3. Put my SD card to my n3ds.
3. Run Homebrew, run gatewayMenu (But I don't have it, I just need the 3dsx right?)
4.Press A while holding UP in the gateway in "Downgrade console" This will restore NAND.bin
5. I guess I restart my system here.
6. Run pasta + trigger button to enter sysNAND (right?)
7. Browserhax here
8. Install FBI
Optional- Put the SD card on my pc and backup my files.
9. Enter homebrew
10. Run Emunand9, format EmuNAND option.
11. Instal FBI in sysnand.
Can any anon help me, am I correct here? I'm sleepy but I can't leave this undone.
I don't think my EmuNAND is working right. Whenever I install a new game it only appears on my sysNAND even if I chose SD where my emuNAND should be. Also I want to do rxtools instead of cake because region free
How do I get back to the rxTools menu after I set it to autoboot? It doesn't give me the option to do anything and just says it booting then disappears. I need to access the rxTools FBI injection setup
>The last useful thing to do is to setup coldbooting into emuNAND with ctrbootmanager. This is a handy tool similar to GRUB if you're familiar with GNU/Linux.
To start with, go to your sysNAND and make sure you've loaded a theme. I touched on this further up, but you've probably formatted sysNAND since then, so you'll have to do it again. Once this data has been created, get back to the homebrew launcher via the browserhax url.
I don't really understand this part, the SD will be formatted again? And how do I go to sysNAND?
How would i go about injecting my old cards nand then? fuck this is never simple, thought i was at the finishing line.
3dsthem.es for the sake of keeping it all in one place, but honestly all themes on there are pretty shit. 3dsiso has every single official one though
browserhax to get menuhax and follow OP guide for cfw setup
nice, good night!
awesome, have fun
EmuNAND9 and EmuNAND Tool are two separate programs, but I guess Emunand9 can dump your emunand too, so that works.
EmuNAND Tool can be found here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/emunand-tool-release-and-support-thread.359239/
You're supposed to run FBI/DevMenu in the NAND you want to install to, and yes it should be the "SD" card
You can't boot into emunand if you never formatted it, so make sure your SD card says "GATEWAY" or "EMUNAND9" when putting it in your computer, or it hasn't been formatted yet.
Yes, you'll need FBI on both.
EmuNAND Tool, linked earlier in this same post
Yes. Use savedatafiler to move your save file over if it's being a butt
That's all correct. Gateway relied on a Launcher.dat file which launched their menu, but now it can also be booted as a .3dsx in HBL. It's included with the .zip download on their website.
No, you do not need the physical card to do anything in there except boot CFW.
So i followed http://i.imgur.com/tH9FMpc.png
And for the most part had no problems, however after injected FBI into emuNAND I'm a bit confused on what to do next.
I launched rxMode in EmuNAND just to check my system settings and I got RX3D 9.2.0-20U. I assume go ahead and unlink the NNID, but other that is CFW installed?
This guide? I just want to make sure. I hear a lot of guides up are complete clusterfucks. It could just be retards that aren't following instructions.
1. download 9.5 update files from 3dsiso
2. put them in /updates folder like you did with the downgrade
3. run profi200 sysupdater sans memchunkhax2 (https://github.com/profi200/sysUpdater/releases) and hit Update
don't forget to remove 000400102002CA00.cia if you're on Japanese firmware
forgot to mention, of course, run this on emunand, not sysnand, unless you're a colossal retard
and yes, after updating everything will stay the same, just like a regular system update
You won't fuck up your system, don't worry. Format your new card with EmuNAND9 if you haven't already, use EmuNAND Tool to extract NAND.bin from the old card and inject it into the new one, then copy all your files from your old card to your new one and you're done
Guessing that file is "EmuNAND.bin" or "NAND.bin". EmuNAND itself is a hidden partition taking up 1GB of your card. You can't see it without special software.
>How do I do that?
>I get taken to the real H&S app after installing on sysnand
Screw FBI injection. refer to >>127851148 and >>127851281
Pretty much. refer to >>127851148 and >>127851281
then focus on getting rxtools/pasta on your sd card.
Cuts to error message at homepage
I mean, why wouldn't it at this point
Delete browser history+cache, reload webpage with wifi off, close browser, turn on wifi, reboot and try again
when the page loads, try zooming in all the way, scroll all the way up-left, then tap the left side of the slider twice and hope it works. reboot and try again until it does
If you're trying to install ruptile ruby or one of the popular oras hacks, on 3dsiso there's a post with mega links to .cia(s) to all the main ones. Might save some time, if you're actually editing one, don't you just use rxtools to decrypt it? then put the results in through a different program?
>get cfw running and everything
>miss the fun of setting everything up and just end up playing earthbound on pocketsnes
That means you've formatted emunand successfully. Is the name of the card "EMUNAND9"? If yes, run EmuNAND Tool on your computer and dump NAND.bin from the SD card with it. It should do it automatically.
I'm assuming you haven't formatted sysnand yet, in which that case you should also refer to >>127851148 and >>127851281
grats but i totally understand. maybe help some people on gbatemp if you're bored?
Getting no text, what I'm doing wrong?
Am I pulling a mega retard here?
Homebrew loader launcher instructions tell me to open the 'payload' file in a text editor but I'm just getting a bunch of garbled shit no matter what text editor i use.
To remove update nag on sysnand, set up youtube dns after you got menuhax installed. hold L+R+Up+A while booting up the 3DS and cancel the systep update prompt to delete the one from your system
google for removing update nag from emunand too lazy to type the rest
None of this would have possible without you guys. I love you all
Ive been following this http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
and I got up to the bit around line 40 where it says my files are corrupt and I did that but now I can't get into browser hax and I dont know why
cripes, people these days need to be spoonfed everything
get bootntr.cia and ntr.bin from that, then install bootntr.cia in emunand and put ntr.bin in your sd root. then run the bootntr app and you should have your off-region games that were somehow not regionfree-patched (or off-region retail carts)
reinand hasn't been updated in months
Yes. CTRL+F for "boot.3dsx" and change it to whatever your homebrew launcher .3dsx was renamed to. Keep it 4 characters, so like fuck, shit, cunt, etc
I'm assuming you haven't formatted sysnand yet. Dump sysnand to nand.bin, because i can't say i trust you've actually extracted it via computer...
After that, back up all your files somewhere safe and keep that NAND.bin somewhere labelled "original NAND". Then, run Complete Format in EmuNAND9
Am I allowed to directly link 3dsiso shit? if so here.
You just use FBI or Whatever else there is, BBM whatever. To install them onto your sd/emunand. Or I guess hans might work, it's easier to just install though. Remember, No updates or most of the features probably won't work.
I still pray that someone will edit one of the hacks and add in Shadow Lugia like the youtube vids show. I want a shadow lugia.
Im at the point where i made a NAND backup file and made a copy of the micro SD and the next step is to complete emuNAND setup. At this point can i just get a new micro SD card, copy it over then continue? sorry for being fucking retarded
Do I really need to reboot my 3DS if browserhax failed and kick me back to main menu before trying another attempt?
Or can I just jump back to browser right away and try to click that damned slider again?
Tried SysUpdater (julian's version) and just got a black screen. now MenuHax isn't loading (yellow screen on bottom. Garbage screen on top)
Onward and Squidward, lads
Both came up while I was typing this. This shit IS inconsistent.
I'm supposed to hit (A) update and not (Y) downgrade, right? Like, the thing will think I'm "upgrading" to 9.2, right?
Even if it's not, you can always dump the save with SaveDataFiler and edit with pkhex, then reinject with the same program
Delete 10.3 payload, take sd card out. see if it boots
if not, hold L+R+Up+A while turning on and update to get out of softbrick
Nah, m8, it started working while I was typing that. It's downgrading now (I reread the tutorial before proceeding. There was a long ass paragraph before "press Y' and I thought I was skipping a step)
Thank you for the support, though.
I'm coming from Wii hacking, friend. There's all kinds of bullshit rules when installing software.
I've checked out this post >>127851148 but I'm still having difficulty getting FBI onto my emuNAND. I successfully installed it on my sysNAND using pasta but now I don't quite understand how to get it to install onto my emuNAND instead.
Format EmuNAND again (i am assuming you have linked your nands again. if not, link them and get FBI on sysnand again)
When you format EmuNAND, it copies sysnand over to your sd card and runs from that
So you can manage shit on your sysnand? it's good to have on both, man. patching AGB_FIRM/TWL_FIRM, etc
see >>127851148 and >>127851281
you should've had fbi injected into the health&safety app
if that failed, go use this https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-inject-any-app-into-health-safety-o3ds-n3ds-cfw-only.402236/
Meaning that if you have FBI on sysnand and format emunand afterward, it'll move over to emunand
Then you just use that method again to get it back on sysnand.
Fuck FBI injection, this method is more consistent. FBI injection is definitely a solution, but doesn't work for everyone. Pasta>FBI works way better honestly
Here is my problem anon, I followed this guide until the end.
And there's no FBI on emuNAND so I'm going to follow this >>127851148
Do I have to format sysNAND? I don't even know. And I don't even know how to continue.
No, set up youtube dns.
"On your 3DS, open the System Settings app, then go to Internet Settings and Connection Settings. From there, select your favorite Connection, tap the Change Settings button, and on the second page head over to the DNS section. Once there, select "No" for "Auto-obtain DNS", and under Detailed Setup, enter the following address : 107.211.140.065.
Save these new settings and close the System Settings app."
>Do I have to format sysNAND? I don't even know. And I don't even know how to continue.
You don't _have_ to format sysNAND but it's highly recommended if you intend to use EmuNAND for everything. Make sure you have a backup of either your original sysnand or emunand before formatting sysnand (WITH THE SD CARD OUT) or you're fucked in terms of old games/saves
But otherwise just follow the instructions on that post you quoted, then consider >>127851281
Just use official ones. People upload them on 3DSiso. or, just make one yourself. tutorial's on gbatemp. google
>be 100% certain RX3d before firmware version then run a system update
Do i have to start over with the rxtools step?
Which part confuses you? EmuNAND Tool is a windows program and EMUNAND9 is a .3dsx software.
Complete format in EMUNAND9. Back up sd card contents first. By formatting emunand you are copying your sysnand to your sd card in a hidden partition and running that as an OS
