-NOTICE: January 11th http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2016/01/extended_nintendo_network_maintenance_on_the_way
-Menu/Iron/Browserhax all work on the latest firmware again! DON'T DELAY in getting Homebrew.
-memchunkhax2 is a kernel11 exploit that allows downgrading to 9.2, and works on every firmware including 10.3.
>Is downgrading safe?
Things are going pretty well. Some bricks are simply people using the wrong firmware. Be sure you understand the risks.
-A libkhax variant of mch2 sysUpdater compiled by julian20 implements the safest settings so far
-Getting the downgrader to even start can require many tries, especially with New 3DS. Opening and closing an FTP app supposedly helps.
-Blank screen can be caused by Menuhax. Try pulling your SD card if you get it. Boot, reinsert, change theme.
-Apparently, the Wii U and 3DS use the same fucking keys... LOL
-Hykem is being weird.
-Linux can run on PS4. Thanks /g/.
-Cobra Black Fin was announced. http://wololo.net/2015/12/07/cobra-black-fin-an-upcoming-dongle-to-play-ps-vita-isos/
-A Vita update got released, you might not want to update since it fixes the email exploit.
I'm currently at Step 0 on a 9.9.0-26U O3DS XL
Do I start here? http://pastebin.com/ZfA8wtA2
THIS HAS BEEN A RETARD ALERT
REMINDER TO EVERYONE THAT IF YOU EXTRACT YOUR UPDATE ZIP ON A MAC IT PUTS A SHITLOAD OF JUNK IN THE CIA FILES
i made this mistake and the first time i used windows it worked like a charm.
Hello friends, newfriend here. I managed to downgrade my 3ds successfully. My problem is when I follow the cfw steps, I can't seem to get browserhax to work. It worked fine when I was on 10.3, but on 9.2 it's not working. I followed the steps in the pastebin. http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
9.2's browserhax is different from 10.3, you need to use sliderhax. Zoom in on the top left of the screen and hit the rightmost side of the slider, while still within the slider.
im close, but i hit another wall. so when i first booted up rxtools, it installed everything, but hung on the screen that says installation complete. whenever i try to boot straight into rx mode, it just hangs with the rx tools logo on the top screen. help?
I need help.
Im currently on a New 3DS 9.2
I installed emuNAND 9.2 that boots via rxtools ctrbootmanager.
When I update emuNAND with sysUpdate to 9.5 it says
"Preparing to start home meno, please wait and dont turn off the power".
What am I doing wrong?-
I used FBI to install sysupdate in emuNAND and used the correct 9.5 files.
The downgrade process seems to go without a problem but it wont load to emuNAND after I update.
>Changing a theme on CHMM2
Did you even realise what you did
You are supposed to install the custom theme INSIDE the menuhax manager, because if you change the theme outside of the manager, you pretty much fuck up menuhax entirely
Are you trying to get FBI on your NANDs? If you already unlinked, dump EmuNAND with EmuNAND Tool (PC Program) and flash it back to your SysNAND by putting its NAND.bin on root, going into Gateway Menu (download the .3dsx from their site, run w/HBL) and pressing A while holding up on "Downgrade Console" to restore your NAND.bin to SysNAND again
After that (or if you didn't unlink nands yet) then run pasta, hold trigger button to prevent menuhax, get back into homebrew launcher via browserhax, run FBI.3dsx, install FBI.cia
Finally, format EmuNAND with EMUNAND9 (back up files first) and you should have FBI on EmuNAND.
After formatting emunand remember to format sysnand (take out the sd card) to unlink nands before trying to get FBI back on it, or you'll just delete it again.
Do the pasta>homebrewlauncher>FBI.3dsx>FBI.cia method again to get it on sysnand too.
so I just finished installing cfw to my 3ds xl and I tried to install some games in CIA format via fbi but it fails everytime. is it cause I installed the original fbi Cia into nand instead of SD. that's what other anon told me. what can I do to fix this
>Spoonfeed me please!
1.How do I block the sysnand from updating? Does TubeDNS still work?
2.How do I boot directly into emunand with rxtools on power on without having to hold the L button during boot with configboot (or whatever that program is called)?
Quick question, I'm opted in for demos to show up on my emuNAND, is it safe to go into settings and disable that?
Also how to I get rid of the demos there, though Blue Menu? Settings?
>1.How do I block the sysnand from updating? Does TubeDNS still work?
TubeDNS works. Set up menuhax again before doing that though.
Use menuhax to trigger CTRBootManager, then edit boot.cfg to trigger your CFW properly.
Should be fine. Remove with Blue Menu/Dev Menu/FBI
Man I've been following this posts instructions for hours. I've formatted my SD card so many times and still can't get FBI on my emuNAND. Is there any way I can use the rxtool injector method if I'm on n3ds?
to unlink them you just reset system mem right? if so then yea but my Nintendo 3ds folder has like 3 folders of random letters and numbers and I read it should only have like 2
I want to download the few bits of free DLC in MHX
I grabbed the config.cia and installed it with FBI
Do I have to run the config app on my home screen everytime I play now?
Download the latest Gateway.zip pack. In that .zip there should be a 3dsx.zip which is where you'd merge /3ds/ with the one on your sd card. Then run it from HBL
Yes, format your sysnand with the SD card out. You should only have two, so either you formatted it twice already or that third folder came from another 3DS
Is anyone who uses retroarch on o3ds getting poor performance too? Gameboy/gambette runs "okay" but NES and up emulators run terrible.
I though that after I run retroarch on CFW the performance wouldn't be perfect but I would run most pre-n64 emulators at full speed. I could run NES and genesis at full speed even on my Nintendo ds with a flash kart.
CAN'T CONNECT TO ESHOP
Has an error message.
Running o3DS sysnand 9.2 emunand 10.3
I formatted the sysnand when I unlinked them, if that helps at all.
I've also used gateway to make the emunand and I have rxtools as my cfw. Pls help.
On New 3DS 9.4, I have homebrew and I guess everything I need to downgrade. The guide says to go to homebrew and scroll down to sysUpdater, but it's not appearing for me there. I only see the initial homebrew programs. What did I do wrong or what do I do?
actually yea I did format it twice cause I fucked up at some point and thought I had to start over. but afterwards everything worked fine and I've got cfw up and running so I thought it was ok. anyways, what do I have to do to start installing Cia files now?
Okay, so I dumped my legit Smash cart
converted it to .cia
Installed 1.1.3.cia and then SmashDLC.cia
And all I'm getting is Mewtwo. Is this because Mewtwo is the only character I bought?
O3DS or N3DS? Could be a bad build or you didn't put the /firm/ file on root.
How are you running it by the way? Web browser, .3dsx, and is there an rxTools.dat on root?
Grats, check out >>127869994
My 3ds works fine.
I use oothax to load into ctrbootmanager which I use to enter rxtools to load into emunNAND.
I can acess my sysNAND
I can run OoT
I can enter ctrbootmanager
I can load rxtools, but when it loads emuNAND it shows the message
"Preparing to start home meno, please wait and dont turn off the power".
then it dissapears and stays black
If I press the power button it prompts the power off screen.
If I close it there and then I open it goes to the white menu screen, but it doesnt load the home menu.
Im guessing there is a problem loading the home menu.
Someone please help, I've been trying this shit >>127869994 for hours and I can't get it to work. I really need to know if I can use rxtools on a new 3ds to inject FBI instead
Is there an rxTools.dat on root? What does your boot.cfg look like, and have you edited it at all?
You have to be running a CFW in the NAND you want to install .cias to. I forgot to ask, by the way: Did you initialize /dbs/ for both sysnand and emunand, or just one? Are you running FBI from H&S or did you install the more updated FBI.cia with that H&S one?
"If I didn't unlink nands yet" Well I unlinked it earlier before I did this strange process, but I don't know if I have to do it again.
And after I run the pasta, do I enter sysnand or emunand?
Should I back EVERYTHING currently on my SD card up before completing the EmuNAND setup? I've made a backup of my entire SD card before even downgrading. Well I guess it's better safe than sorry but I'm still saving gigabytes of shit to my computer.
Search for "cryptofixed zelda tri force" on 3DSISO
By flashing EmuNAND back into SysNAND, you've re-linked them. I had you do this on purpose so you can get FBI on your actual NAND, which you'll format back to EmuNAND so you'll have FBI on it.
Oh even better, yeah. Do that!
i dont have a .dat file to put on root, and my .cfg is this..
timeout = 3;
autobootfix = 2;
recovery = 2;
default = 0;
entries = (
title = "rxTools";
path = "/rxTools/sys/code.bin";
offset = "0x12000";
title = "HomeBrewMenu";
path = "/bhbl.3dsx";
and its unedited
You can, but I think this method is a lot more consistent. Where are you having trouble?
.cias use your system's internal ID. use at your own discretion, because nintendo can see what you've bought from eshop. they haven't really banned anyone for it yet (a few, but not a lot)
>Worked for me
Can you elaborate your steps?
Did you initialize browser before or after reboot?
Did you scan the QR in wi-fi on or off?
Did you click left side or right side of the slider? Finger or stylus? One or two taps? Or furious finger poking?
No problem. Assuming you're >>127870843 here is my responce:
Yes, the files in the folder that looks like "7047534hkjh057435gh3l" in Nintendo 3DS is just all of your games and themes and stuff. The actual emuNand is a hidden partion that needs to be backed up itself. I used EmuNAND9 for this, which allows you to backup and restore the emuNand but emuNand Tool should work fine too, might even be faster.
Following the guide for OG3DS with rxtools 2.6. I finished the part where I use gateway's shit to set up emunand.
But I can't launch rxTools. It just hangs on the Installing Data Suite page. What am I doing here?
Here's my SD card, pretty sure I've got all the files.
Looks good to me. You probably just have an incompatible build. Try an older nightly.
Sliderhax is 9.2
Either bad RNG or you blocked youtube dns and it's screwing it up somehow (dunno if that matters)
try clearing cache+history and try again. to make sure, scan the qr code to ensure you're redirected to the right web exploit.
Wrong. Trick sysnand into booting emunand and you can update emunand.
NAND = OS
sysNAND = system OS
emuNAND = emulated OS (from sd card)
So anyone else using CHMM2 and cakes?
It loads but then it freezes and I have to reboot. Do I need another file besides the .cia? Should I load it through homebrew instead?
My NAND is unlinked. Should I update to 10.3? Is that the problem?
browserhax is broken as fuck. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
You probably know, but you should install menuhax or another exploit so you don't have to use browserhax anymore.
>have 1GB SDHC card
>EmuNAND slow as shit
>decide to get a 32GB SDXC (class 10)
>copy everything over to the last detail
>suddenly cant boot into emuNAND despite it being formatted properly.
>the 16GB card still works perfectly.
Yeah means you're in your emuNAND.
I recommend using this instead to install games though. much more reliable than fbi.
I think it has to do with the NAND.bin. I've run through those steps several times now though and my problem is that when everything is done, there's no FBI on my emuNAND so I can't install from there
both dbs have been initialized and... I'm not sure what H&S is. I just installed the FBI.Cia like this guide told me http://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-setting-up-9-0-9-2-n3ds-xl-for-rxtools-cfw-including-emunand-coldboot-cia-manager.405589/
So I don't need the backup from before I began downgrading and fiddling with this stuff?
So where exactly would I be on this pastebin
Before I start doing whatever >>127869994 says? I honestly don't even know if I'm unlinked or linked. I'm currently in the middle of line 45 and I've been following this thing to a T.
>Ok, so I unlink them by entering sysnand>system>format sdcard>take out the sd card>format.
Actually, sysnand>system settings>data management>(take out sd card)>system format
Okay to clarify, your nands are linked again and you get FBI on your SysNAND and you format emunand after, and it's not there?
Will take a look at this guide, one moment.
You can follow that guide and it'll probably work. If you have troubles with FBI injection, consult that post instead because it's a failproof solution. Otherwise, just disregard it.
I guess I fucked up though cause I guess this was supposed to be the FBI gift but it's just been black all along and freezes when I try to play it
So I've set up cold booting into Cakes as per the guide, but it just loops me back through the boot manager constantly. Is the guide wrong about being able to use menuhax "type 2" to boot into cakes?
Also, Cakes will hang on a black screen for me like 6/10 times when I'm booting into it, have I done something wrong?
>tfw keep getting an error when I try to put background music into the theme
I left my eshop games on emunand, made Emunand.bin backup and then installed some pirated games.
Suppose I'll somehow brick an emunand and then restore it with rxTools. I assume my eshop games will be fine, but pirated games will end up unregistered in emunand, while still being on sd card within tons of folders.
Is there any method to delete them automatically?
>So I don't need the backup from before I began downgrading and fiddling with this stuff?
Probably not, because you've added files since then.
I mean you can keep both copies just in case. In my case, I accidentally forget to back up my themes folder, but because I saved a version before I started, I still had it.
Also, you did make a back up of your NAND, and saved it, right? You want to do that BEFORE you format the SD.
I don't exactly get what the post above is saying. How do I know if I'm unlinked or not and what does it mean? The order of that post is fucking with me. It tells you how to unlink after it asks if you're unlinked or not.
I've managed to install Cakesfw on two separate 3ds' but I can't seem to make a third one work. I've been following this guide: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji, but the sysnand dump always fails(step 45). The percent number doesn't even show up. The only difference (I think) is I formatted that new SD card when it didn't need to be.
Anyone here know an SD card formatting program that may be more suitable for 3ds?
Not that guy but I tried that and didn't work for me. I still get error 022-2634. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, fuck... Am I supposed to use the same NNID I had or a new one?
Yes, the FBI doesn't show up on emuNAND and it actually disappears from sysNAND as well. I'm going to try it again only because I can't figure get rxtools to run either.
Whenever I copy my files back onto the sd card it doesn't let me copy the NAND.bin, that's normal right?
If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong, that'd be great
It loads the BGM just fine in the app
Well I straight up copied and pasted the entire SD card to a folder somewhere both times. The first time was covered with Homebrew shit I had before. I SHOULD have everything. I guess I can save the NAND somewhere else just in case for whatever reason.
>Also, Cakes will hang on a black screen for me like 6/10 times when I'm booting into it, have I done something wrong?
just bad rng... Does the menuhax trigger button let you boot it properly? I personally use type 2 holding L
>Yes, the FBI doesn't show up on emuNAND and it actually disappears from sysNAND as well.
Oh, make sure you're installing to SD, not NAND. Press L before selecting the .cia
Nice, USA region? We should play sometime
>When I use EmuNAND9 to do the complete setup, what exactly am I doing?
You are taking sysnand and copying it to your SD card when you do that. You also delete everything else off the card so back it up first. Your main goal is to get FBI on both nands so you can install .cia roms and stuff. more info at >>127869994
Someone on GBAtemp can help you with that. Sorry but there's so many fucking versions of rxtools it's hard to keep track of anymore. Specify whether you're N3DS/O3DS, by the way: That matters
The latter, sorry. Format system memory. Take out the SD card first.
Each NAND has a unique ID, which loads the "Nintendo 3DS" folder. When you system format, you change that ID. When you format EmuNAND, it copies SysNAND to your SD card and emulates it from there.
Unlinking means you format sysnand (or emunand, but preferably sysnand) to change the ID folder it reads from in /Nintendo 3DS/
There is a way to extract your "online info" from a retail 3DS game and then paste it onto your 3ds roms before installing the .cia files.
This means that Nintendo won't see multiple people logged in with the same "online info" so it looks like you're on a legit game.
I have no idea how to do this, I just remember reading about it a few months ago, it may even be useless now and the VFW handles it or something, who knows really.
It's just a copy of the sysNand running on your SD card. So if you fuck the emuNand up, you can just take the SD card out and your 3DS is fine and not bricked.
Sorry man, not a clue. I assume your sysNand and emuNand are unlinked? And you formatted sysNand before all this?
what's the stability of profi200's sysupdater versus julian's build from a few days back? it should have the same "do safe titles first" feature afaik
dunno, but new fbi commit should speed up cia installation, just need to wait for a release or compile it yourself.
>I assume your sysNand and emuNand are unlinked? And you formatted sysNand before all this?
Well I formated sysnand to unlink them and then updated emunand. Do I have to format sysnand again after formatting emunand and logging into eshop?
Alright so I went through this thread but I am a dumb faggot and I can't get a grip of this thing. Can someone tell me where the fuck do I begin if I want to play cia games on my new3ds which is on 10.3.0-28E ? Are the chances of bricking my ds high ? I live in mexico of europe and getting this ds took nearly 2 months of my life not to mention games I got so far. Anybody got a moron friendly guide ?
I had a dream about an SRPG dating sim set in high school. There were a lot of girls to date and two guys that were your rivals. However, there were super-secret options to date the guys as well. I ended up sucking their cock.
Both are slow.
Blue gives you more options but it's overwhelming if you don't know what the fuck you're doing.
FBI is straight forward and easy to use.
Install both, they both have things, together, that give you lots of options for deleting and installing app data.
Yes and yes. If you want to remove it from your NAND you'll have to look for the FBI titleid, which I am actually unsure what it is (looking at the moment)
Sure thing, and good luck with whatever you choose to do
Pretty sure either are the same: It's a 3DS write speed limitation on the motherboard. N3DS is faster, though (Nintendo even advertises about it)
>just need to wait for a release or compile it yourself.
Do you have a copy? I can't compile for shit, I fucked everything up last time I tried.
No you just need to reinstall the emuNand you made from the backup (if your following the tiny guide I posted). If that doesn't work I assume it's a different problem for yo, sorry.
If I delete/rename firmware.bin, it fails the data suite installation and lets me continue. However, it doesn't let me boot in rxMode.
Does that mean there's a problem with my firmware.bin? I'm using the 9.2 one from here:
I was following this http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji guide and when i launch pasta it doesnt send me back to home menu. What do ? Minipasta is no good too.
>If you want to remove it from your NAND you'll have to look for the FBI titleid, which I am actually unsure what it is (looking at the moment)
Ah, here it is: https://github.com/Steveice10/FBI/blob/master/resources/AppInfo
Uninstall CTR-P-CFBI from NAND with FBI.3dsx (don't uninstall with the .cia unless you want some weird crash to happen)
>load retroarch snes core via homebrew channel
>dat framerate oh god it burns
>attempt to load blargsnes via homebrew channel
>blarg? what is a blarg? i see nothing. - hbc
Well shit, one that stutters like mad and one that isn't even picked up by the fucking hbc.
Should i try try the .cia of retro out? because i suspect the homebrew launcher is mangling it somehow in a way that my emunand wouldn't.
What exactly is starter.bin?
I've been following this and I'm now on line 47.
Complete EmuNAND Setup tells me "File starter.bin was not found!" "You may continue without autosetup"
When running sysUpdater, how do I know when to restart? I know it says to get red text, but it also says it would freeze on a number, but I only run into a black/blank screen. Should I see anything prior to it or is that the freeze? N3DS if that matters any for this step.
Appreciate all the help man. Just wondering if the first step with using the emuNAND tool and gateway menu is necessary for linking your NANDs again? When I reformat my emuNAND it brings me back to one folder again and I'm wondering if that's enough to be considered linked?
When I format emunand and go to NNID settings it asks me to create a new NNID. When I finish I can access to eshop with the new ID but when I inject my NAND backup it uses my previous ID and shows me an error. Is it supposed to be like this?
Googled that pressing L to boot up menuhack and then launching FBI directly just works
>Did all of this correctly
>Can now enter the eShop
>Lost Paper Jam .cia and save in the process even though I backed my entire SD card up
Well granted I wasn't THAT far into the game, only level 8, still sucks that I have to do all over again.
You need to copy the entire EmuNAND9 folder to root as it is in the .zip (Maybe not the .nds and Launcher.dat though)
It is, if you don't care about retaining your old game/save files from when you used your 3DS before hacking anything.
I've extracted emuNAND with emuNANDTool and I'm trying to inject it to my new sd card but I keep getting hit with this. Anybody able to help?
Well, no. You can't install .cias unless you are in a CFW.
Homemenuhax is probably messing with you. Hold your trigger button to prevent homemenuhax from blocking you out of sysnand.
In EmuNAND9 download you should get all this shit. The guide I read said just to copy the 3ds folder, but the other files are needed (starter.bin is in the EmuNAND9 folder) so just copy all this shit to the root of your SD card.
You arn't supposed to make a new NNID, you're supposed to use your existing one.
on the 11th, nintendo maintenance says a patch is rolling out, and of course the exploits aren't adapted to it.
Meaning, you can't run browserhax, which is, really necessary in running homebrew
Once you downgrade though, you should be fine.
You have to format your new SD card with EmuNAND9 before you can inject your old EmuNAND.bin into it.
That prompt looks curious though: Maybe it can do it for you? I wouldn't trust it personally: EMUNAND9 is more recent and formats the card most optimally, as far as I'm aware.
Use DSP Firmware Dumper if you're on O3DS and are using the CIA version. https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-dsp-firmware-dumper.402108/
Just run it once and use CHMM2 again. Remember to use this build if you're on Cakes, otherwise you will install it to sysnand instead (for some fucking reason, blame Rinnegatamante)
Is there an update for Project Mirai DX? Or did I just need to tick FW Spoof when converting the .3ds file?
It loads if I just press A and seems fine, but I feel like I'm missing features because of it.
Shit is just breaking and I don't know why, I haven't actually done anything.
MHX was working fine, now I can't boot into the game... tried the prepatched cia and the clean one, both hang on the "3DS" screen with the pulsing red.
Now I also can't boot NTR, hangs on "patching svc check"
I've been using pasta and then going back to the homebrew menu, installing the FBI.cia onto SD, dumping the NAND.bin, backing everything up, formatting emuNAND, copying the files back and then formatting my system with the SD card out.
>N3DS Downgrade steps
>Manage to get sysUpdater to run
>Failed to get .cias
>Guide says if it fails, then I didn't put the .cias in the updates folder
>Updates folder has nothing but a bunch of .cias
I don't understand.
Check sysnand. You might have accidentally installed it to there.
CIA installers will install to whichever NAND you ran them on. If you do not have FBI on your EmuNAND, you should either inject FBI to H&S (crappy imo) or do this >>127869994
the other one worked 1st time for me, on O3DS XL. It really doesn't matter, but the other one has 8 steps it goes through so you see the progress, which apparently julian lacks.
Try restoring EmuNAND to the new card inside of the EmuNAND9 menu. Maybe EmuNAND Tool doesn't know how to inject to EmuNAND9 (assuming you did everything properly up to this point)
Are you using a mac? If you are, dot_clean your /updates/ folder with terminal
if it was the premade .cia with the bannerfix and all that it wouldn't go past the papercraft fight anyway, i had to make mine from a .3ds.
Thankfully i'm on a o3ds so i don't have to put up with any special preperation.
heres a save not too far in, it's after the first papercraft fight and just before even more toad wrangling, the money has also been edited because fuck that noise.
Anybody got a working version of blargSNES? Both the HBL loaded and .cia versions I have (1.3) load nothing but a black screen.
For what it's worth, it did work while I was on 9.9, for whatever reason.
Rename your homebrew launcher .3dsx to some 4 character filename like fuck/shit/dick/cunt/etc
Open the hblauncher_otherapp....bin payload in a text editor and CTRL+F for "boot.3dsx". replace with the filename you made HBLL and save.
Also, edit boot.cfg so Homebrew Launcher runs the proper file too
EU downgrade on N3DS confirmed (homebrew starter pack, browserhack, Julian20 downgrader).
are you using julian's sysupdater latest build? afaik the latest build is from https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-downgrading-your-3ds.407888/page-95#post-5923820 and this is the safest build of sysupdater available
Should I be using this three day old version of sys update?
This? It's running from HBLauncher, not a .cia though.
Would a .cia version be able to use the emuNand benefits?
Take your old SD card's NAND.bin and flash it to your other SD card with EMUNAND9's menu. There should be an option to do that.
Either try to browserhax and install FBI.cia with FBI.3dsx or follow >>127869994
Yes. Keep trying.
Yes, that should work just fine. Edit boot.cfg if homebrew launcher isn't loading from CTRBootManager.
God damnit. Whoever made that guide should rewrite that.
Anyways I went back, added those files, then went with the whole Complete EmuNAND Setup thing. But now I don't see a CIA manager. I don't know where I fucked up.
>>127873330 here. I just used the same as you. My downgrade was successful when I did not hit Y immediately after launching systemUpdater, but waited for about 30 seconds, maybe this helps.
I'm trying to move my stuff from a completed cfw setup to a bigger sd card. Wouldn't I use the old emuNAND bin and flash it to my new card's emuNAND?
I clearly have no fucking clue what I'm doing.
try a different rxTools
I used this after the nightly decided it didn't want to work: https://mega.nz/#%21KQ1HVDLZ%21TJhiM4zQlknFSqdkDDf8oGMHaNod6-WbR_ggznC8b3c
I have no idea what version it is though. Works on O3DSXL for me.
Yes, but in order to do that you must format with EMUNAND9 so the partition exists, so that EmuNAND Tool can inject into that partition.
If it doesn't exist, EmuNAND Tool gets confused.
Oh I see, my bad.
Hold on. Did you install FBI to sysnand? If so, then yes, go ahead. If you installed FBI to emunand, then there's no reason to format it.
After the error screen and removing the SD card, I'm now on 9.2.0-20. Thank you for all the help. I'm going to learn all the other fancy stuff later after I get a larger micro sd card. Getting the downgrade before the Nintendo maintenance shit or whatever (if it even does anything) was my biggest concern.
I think I used tuxs or whatever the first link version of it was, but I got it working. Thank you.
Okay, then just follow the directions in >>127869994
>5)once its done go into settings and choose "quick boot" and check it.
Is this on the rxtools menu from "https://dukesrg.github.io/?rxTools/sys/code.bin" ?
How do I get back there using same link after I already installed shit? I pressed R and it put me into emunand without any menu
>If you're getting a black screen while booting rxTools, either emuNAND booting is triggering Menuhax due to the theme payload still being present or you're experiencing an unknown problem. If it's the former, try holding/not holding the button combination you set to not trigger Menuhax. If it's the latter, try the alternate rxTools.zip download.
Actually, there's a bit more: They must format sysnand with the SD card taken out so the nands are unlinked again.
From there, they just have to pasta>FBI to install it to sysnand again.
Then they're ready to install CFW
Are you using tux's build in menuhax? I've heard people try even 100+ times before it finally worked... but it's all really just RNG
Change your emunand theme. hold the trigger button to get in
Alright so I did that and now I get a new error:
>Failed to load NATIVE_FIRM: 4
>Reboot rxTools and try again
>Press A to continue
my firmware folder looks like this http://puu.sh (slash) mnY6m/ca9edffe7b.png
Fuck sakes, things are just breaking and I can't see a reason why. I'm literally about to snap my 3DS in half and fucking kill myself.
is formatting my SD and starting "fresh" an option? Would I basically be starting from the "you just downgraded" step or has the shit I've done with the emunand fucked me there?
I'm the guy you were originally helping and I just want to say thanks from deep down in my heart I just got eshop working I'll always remember you anon
I'm getting this sysupdater screen instead of the one given in pastebin. I'm using TuxSH's version for sure. Just to confirm, I downloaded it twice from the mkn9B.zip file
Thanks in advance, I never downgraded before.
So I´m still stuck at trying to get FBI to work, I have version 1.3.8 from rxTools 2.6 running and trying to install the 1.4.14 fbi.cia only gives me the "Database does not exist" error that I also get when trying to install other games.
Some guide said something about rebuilding the database in the system settings, do I have to do that?
I assume so. Before, it took me about five tries to get sysUpdater to boot up properly. I went in and exited ftBrony twice and sysUpdater booted up the next time I launched it. It could have been luck getting it to run though, but it did begin to install the .cia files.
What is ftBrony anyway?
When I had this I used the alternate rxTools and it worked then
Is this on 3dsiso yeah? I might just be dumb but it's so stupid to navigate that site.
Go to settings. Assuming you're using rxTools it will say RX - *version number* rather than VER. *version number*. Remember that leaving settings is like a reboot though, and will go back into sysNand.
l-l-love you too
What about the version of sysupdater you're using? Is it the tux build?
Oh, do you already have FBI on both emunand and sysnand? That's the end goal here.
Yes, it deleted everything (you should have backed up your SD card if you didn't) and copied your internal sysnand over to your sd card, which you can now emulate as emunand.
You can use it along with software on your PC to transfer files over your internet connection. I just did the ftbrony trick too cause I read some people succeeded in downgrading through that method. Not sure what the connection is, but congrats anyways
I removed the emuNAND profile from the Ninendo 3DS folder and had the system redo the files when loading to emuNAND.
I read somewhere that it was a titles issue so I figured it would help to remove the profile and it paid off.
Personally, I use this: http://andrewiankidd.co.uk/other//RxToolsHomeMenuHax.7z
First, delete your current /rxTools/ folder.
Copy over the /rxTools/ folder as well as the /3ds/RxTools/ folder
Then, run from HBL/CTRBootManager again. If it red-screens, try again until it boots up.
You are downgrading your sysnand, right? You should be using either tux or julian's version of sysupdater.
Wait, you don't have FBI anywhere!? Are your NANDs currently linked? If you have flashed NAND back to sysnand via gateway and have not yet formatted sysnand, then you should be following >>127869994
Skip the first line break, and start from "After that"
its probably a game with high system resource use, so it doesnt run alongside the system menu like most do. closing it actually reboots your system, which kicks you back out into sysnand.
smash and i think? mh4 do the same thing
>lets say I installed FBI on nand by accident, how do I uninstall it? it's not letting me install on SD also
Also, you must be in a CFW in order to have permission to install FBI. Make sure you initialize /dbs/ too, or you'll have install errors
What is config.cia, anyway?
Oh sorry, nope. No idea, never did that.
I guess just power off..?
Grats. Take out the sd card and let us know if it boots up. If it does, delete all the payload.bin files on root
What do you want help with? Clarification that it's supposed to look like that? If so yeah it's all good, keep retrying and if it says cia not found or something like that when you try to downgrade run ftbrony, exit it and THEN go to sysupdater.
>Your CIA manager is already installed there if you did this right, since you installed FBI before creating an emuNAND.
That's what's confusing me. I did back up my card. I mentioned having 2 backups. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do after making an emuNAND. The guide surprisingly shits out on details and precise steps at that point.
Whoa whoa, no.
Do you care about your games/saves before you started any of this hacking? If you do, you should restore EmuNAND.bin back into SysNAND again, because you unlinked before installing FBI.
If you format EmuNAND now, you will lose your original NAND, which I highly recommend you do not do if you've used your 3DS before this.
If you do not care about your old games/saves, then go ahead and do that. Otherwise, start from the beginning again.
booted flawlessly. i already cfw'd up a regular 3ds so i knew about the menuhax pitfalls.
So I was trying to use browserhax, I click on the right side of the bar, but everytime the screen turns yellow, and then grey...but then the navigator crash, everytime. I made something wrong ?
Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton (EUR) got to 95% on bigbluemenu then failed because it was an "invalid cia". Haven't run into any problems with other cias so far though i only tried 4 others. Can i try the US version? I assume i have to run NTR before starting the game on cakes?
>expected date of delivery for SD card is monday
I already downgraded my 2DS using my old SD but haven't started setting up CFW yet. Can I just wait for my new SD card to arrive and still be safe or should I just set things up now?
similar problem here
Code Princess gets really high % and then i get the same error as you
meanwhile 14 other games are installed just fine, its just that one game, i even retried it
By the way, you won't know if you've installed FBI on sysnand unless you're running a CFW in sysnand.
Make sure you are in pasta cfw to check if you truly installed FBI or not.
I fucked up somewhere along the line, and I'd like to delete my EmuNAND, format my SD and start over again. How can I do this so I can start again with a 3DS on 9.2? I've already downgraded, so I just want to revert to before I created an EmuNAND, unlinked the NANDs, installed Menuhax, etc.
Is that all I need to do? Just format the SD? And also, in terms of using a guide for this, is this flowchart still good or is there a better guide to be using? http://i.imgur.com/tH9FMpc.png
Ok, so I backed up my NAND.bin and my emuNAND.bin and I formatted the sysNAND via system settings. Am I supposed to be seeing anything new on the home or homebrew menu? Can I start playing games without getting Cakes?
Who's ready for the /hbg/ Friday night drinking game tonight?
We take a shot everytime we see a post that says "Anyone?"
Take your EmuNAND Backup and copy it to your SD card's root. Rename the file on your SD card to "NAND.bin"
Get into Gateway Launcher and press A while holding Up on Downgrade Console. It will flash your EmuNAND back to your SysNAND, linking the consoles again.
Then you should get FBI on SysNAND, format EmuNAND, then unlink SysNAND by formatting sysnand with the SD card out.
The final step is to get FBI back on SysNAND.
Please note again: >>127875490
Pretty much. Mess around with various entrypoints/builds/open+close ftbrony before running, etc. Good luck!
Hey guys I downloaded the N3DS rom since I wanted better graphics.
When I finished downgrading though I just have a blue screen with a random string of text.
Did I do it right? Kinda worried since button presses are doing anything.
I found this
Only works for some games, but there are a few there.
So what exactly am I supposed to do after formatting it? I put the SD card in my computer and it now says EMUNAND9SD with an EmuNAND9 folder, Nintendo 3DS folder, and boot.3dsx.
So I have a dilema and I hope there is a simplier solution.
In the root of my SD, I have ctrbootmanager as my boot.3dsx
That auto boots into cakes
and then cake autoboots into emuNAND
All fine and dandy
However, I'm pretty sure, because of the way the files are set up, I can't access homebrew because it's not boot.3dsx in the root.
Is there a better way to get around this than go into the SD and change the file names whenever I want to use homebrew? There must be. Is there a txt file somewhere that can redirect homebrew from launching from boot.3dsx?
>13. Advanced > Install FBI > emuNAND > Check TMD. Note down the Region and the Version.
what I get is:
rename homebrew boot.3dsx to shit.3dsx
open hbloader_otherapp_.....bin in a text editor and CTRL+F for "boot.3dsx"
replace with "shit.3dsx" and save
if the payload isn't there, hold Y while booting the channel, let it crash, and it should be on your sd card afterward
(honestly though you can change the filename from shit.3dsx to any 4-character name. can be anything you want: cock, cunt, fart, poop, etc
So do I need CHMM2.cia .3ds .3dsx .smdh or just .cia?
I honestly have no idea.
I've been following this thing http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji for a while but it fizzled out on details once I got to line 47. I used Emunand9 and went with "Complete EmuNAND Setup" after backing my SysNAND. I have no fucking idea what I've been doing once I finished that.
rename boot.3dsx to HBLL.3dsx
download CTRBootManager and put boot.3dsx and boot.cfg on root
modify boot.cfg in text document so boot_hb.3dsx is "HBLL.3dsx"
if you want to use the homebrew launcher loader by yellows8, see >>127876243 (assuming shit.3dsx is changed to HBLL.3dsx)
Check the system settings. If you're in emunand, the system number will have some sort of RX- thing before it.
(note that when you leave the system settings menu, it kicks you back out to sysnand.)
So I´m completely stuck now, I can´t get FBI to install anything, not even a newer version of itself, I just keep getting the "database does not exist" error.
I replaced the dbs files and rebuilt the database in the system setting, but it still doesn´t work.
Have you formatted sysnand yet? If you haven't, then just follow >>127869994
Note that you won't know if you have FBI on your sysnand unless you are running a cfw on sysnand like pasta to see it.
Exactly what anon said, but I recommend changing the theme in EmuNAND so you can tell easily.
I have no fucking idea dude. This god damn pastebin shits out on explanations after a while. I've just been doing whatever the hell it told me to.
I don't even know. I don't even know if I even had an emunand before or not. I thought that's what I was trying to do. I think I fucked up for good. Shit. I don't even know what's going on anymore. What's the SD card supposed to look like?
I tried loading my MH4U (after installation) but it gives me an error screen and urges me to power off and try again.
This didn't happen the other day when i installed Pkm SMD.
It should start similar to that filename, but that is not the exact filename, because it should also have your firmware version/region/model in it. Otherwise, hold Y when booting up homebrew channel to generate it.
Yes, use savedatafiler, restore your emunand to when it wasn't fucky, install the games again, then inject your saves back in with savedatafiler.
You didn't downgrade directly from 10.3, did you? I hear people get weird results when they don't.
Nice. good luck!
You shouldn't even have to. Use the .3dsx version in HBL. It's also in the .zip.
You still need Launcher.dat on root, though.
I've downgraded yes. But I don't even know what I'm doing anymore. I've been following http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
god damn thing for the past few hours now.
Am I completely fucked? I backed my SD card completely before I fucked everything up. Is there any way to bring it back to the stage of after I downgraded it?
That's what you get for going online on a cia.
Last time there was a banwave, you should have known better this time than to go online
(Unless i'm wrong about cias and bans, someone fucking correct me)
thats what I thought
and then it tells me to press power to initilize, i press it and it gives me an error
I've got midna.zip in Themes folder so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong
Flowchart's outdated. You can boot Gateway Launcher with HBL as a .3dsx. Download the latest version of Gateway and there's a 3dsx.zip in the archive.
Yes, do that if it takes too long. If it doesn't boot up even after that, hold Up+L+R+A when powering on and update to 10.3 again as a last resort
Let me ask you this: Are your nands still linked? Do you have FBI on EmuNAND already?
Well shit, if you already tried initializing /dbs/ all i can say is "try running browserhax and use FBI.3dsx to install FBI.cia"
Otherwise you'll have to resort to >>127869994
because fuck FBI injection
used fbi. then tried bbm, then tried bbm again
maybe I just downloaded a shitty cia
I've just dumped sysNAND to NAND.bin and I follow this guide http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji but I don't know what should I do after this...
It says press select to unmont sd card but it does nothing
Thanks lads, I was following
So I didn't notice
No, because I unlinked them before installing the FBI.
You told me to restore NAND.bin or i would lose my saves.
But I checked and NAND.bin was already on the /root. So I don't know if i still got my saves or not.
>Otherwise, hold Y when booting up homebrew channel to generate it
Ok, I went to the sysnand, launched browserhax and held down Y while it loaded. The Netloader message is up. Did I do it right? Can I cancel, check my SD, and the file will be there?
I'm getting 022-2634 errors when I try to enter the eshop on my 10.3 emunand.
Since I formatted my sysnand to unlink, the nnid settings there were wiped while they stayed on the emunand which is apparently which is causing the problem.
I've read that signing into the nnid on your sysnand fixes it, but it requires me to update when I try to link an existing ID through the nnid thing in the system settings menu.
Is there any way to undo "Complete EmuNAND Setup" from Emunand9? I think I've completely fucked up. Honestly a bricking would be less embarrassing at this point. I don't even get what Emunand means and if I'm using it or not. >>127869994 doesn't help me at all since I don't even know what it means and how to tell "If you already unlinked". I'm basically floundering around the start right after downgrading and getting menuhax on it. Fucking hell just kill me now. My retardation knows no bounds. Holy shit. Maybe I should order helium now.
Ok the HB launcher lets me start FBI 1.4.14, but when trying to install the .cia I get a new error:
Summary: SUMMERY_WRONG_ARGUMENT (0x8)
Description: (unknown) (0x2f)
Any idea how to fix this? Should I try it with FBI 1.4.17?
Does anyone know where I can download rune factory 4? Shit's impossible to find.
Wait, I'm confused about your situation. Did you downgrade? Are you on 9.2? Have you tried launching gateway through menuhax?
Okay, I need to explain this thoroughly.
All your games and saves are stored in SD:/Nintendo 3DS/<id1>
When you format EmuNAND, it takes SysNAND and copies an exact replica of SysNAND on your SD card. They both read from:
However, this means that the NANDs are Linked, because they both read <id1>.
When you format SysNAND, it changes its internal ID. Therefore, it starts reading <id2>
Now, you have two folders:
You want to Inject EmuNAND back into SysNAND so they are linked again, so they both read only <id1>
Once you have <id1> back on SysNAND, you get FBI installed and format EmuNAND again.
Now, emunand copies FBI over because emunand is now reading from <id1> too.
Finally, you should format sysnand to read a new <id2> with the SD card out.
After that, get FBI on sysnand.
Now sysnand and Emunand have FBI, but:
- Sysnand reads <id2>
- EmuNAND reads <id1>
<id1> is where all of your save files are. You want to play all of your games in EmuNAND.
Does that make more sense?
Yes, should work.
Yeah try that. I hear older versions fix it too for some reason.
AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM. Also GBA VC/DSi VC. Nothing is dangerous about FBI on sysnand unless you install stuff to NAND like an idiot
So what do I use to inject gba games into both sysnand and emunand?
also would cis of just DS games be able to be installed via H&S app or would that need double injecting too?
Okay help me out here, what have I forgotten to do
I downgraded my n3ds to 9.2
I open pasta (using cubic ninja)
I open FBI(cubic ninja)
I install the 1.1 update for monster hunter X
I return to homebrew loader and select region free
I insert my mhX cartridge, then hit play
And get a black screen
Fuck me. So how exactly does one set emunand up? I'm sick of this stupid pastebin. Does anyone have a more autism safe guide? I legitimately think I fucked up. Damnit I don't even know where to recover anymore.
>Yes, should work.
Just checked, no bin file close to what you mentioned is in the SD.
Closest is the .cia file for homebrew, and I know that isn't it.
Is there any place I can just download the file for my correct firmware?
Goddammit, this time it´s a "DESCRIPTION_INVALID_SIGNATURE" error, guess I´m giving it up for today, still thanks for your help though
>I've tried everything on this softboot guide nothing is working
>Oh..I've been trying to soft boot from emunand instead of systemnand
>Oh okay that wor- wait I'm back at nxtools
Emunand is softbooting too. Anyway to fix this? Uninstalling or reinstalling Menuhax just changes the methods on both sys and emu.
I can still play games so its not a big deal. I just have to remember to press x right after launching rxtools
nah, just restore your nand with gateway launcher
you first need FBI on both emunand and sysnand. see >>127869994
then you install TWL_FIRM and AGB_FIRM on sysnand. you can find them in the update thread on 3dsiso
then you install your gba.cias to sysnand and run them from there. you cannot run them from emunand unless you installed AGB_FIRM/TWL_FIRM and the game on both NANDs.
No, there is no DS game method. You need a DS mode flashcart like DSTWO.
give it to me, i'd love to have it
Wait, you're running the browser? I said the homebrew launcher loader by yellows8. The homebrew channel. Hold Y while booting it. You need wifi enabled too.
Shit, sorry to hear that. See you tomorrow I guess.
Is playing online with cia's safe or not? im hearing conflicting things, a few days ago everyone said its safe but now im eharing reports of people getting banned, or are these people trolls?
If you're in burgerland, walmart has 32gb class 10 micro ads for 10 value menu burgers. Check their website, put your zipcode, look for a local walmart as a pick up, dont buy it online, juat go to the store, they'll price match it.
So once this has installed, how do I go about extracting the save file from my retail copy of ACNL?
Also, how do I then install it so it works with the .cia emuNand game.
