I found a Soul Taker, nearly perfect roll too 140% IPD and 24% AS. Never played melee so this sjould be fun. Thinking of making a build with it rather than selling. What's a good skill to go with it /poet/? I was thinking of a multistrike build but not reave I want something more edgy so maybe Dual Strike? Auras I was thinking of Grace+Hatred and something like Dual Strike-Multistrike-Melee phys-Melee Splash-added fire and hypothermia when I get a 6L astral plate. Will get Iron Reflex and some hybrid one hander nodes that should put me at 24% block.
Grace+Hatred puts you at 100% mama reserved. cwdt+enfeeble works pretty well since you're always in melee range. I don't think its worth dropping neither auras for a 35% bladphamy enfeeble aura. Charisma alone won't drop Blasphamy from 35 to 25%. You'd need a 25% free mana to fit in AA since Hatred reserves 50% mana.
With charisma + blasph + hatred you're at 79% reserved mana. AA requires 25% manager so won't fit in.
With charisma + hatred + blasphemy + AA it would put you at 102% mama reserved. I also want to point out that Charisma is at a retarded long spot I'm going either with Scion or Marauder and picking up the leech nodes at the bottom so there's little need for Vaal Pact. Going there will severely reduce the points you can spent and gimping your build.

derped forgot to calculate the 4%, you'll sit at 97% mana reserved, but yeah you're right. To reach it takes 9 nodes, makes me wonder if it's really worthed though. If I started as melee ranger or shadow it's alot easier and I agree worth in getting the cluster.
For HC I strongly dislike the idea of a melee Ranger due the lack of life on the right side compared to the left side. I did abit of planning on the tree, and at around like 90ish I should have around 7.5k life (256% life with jewels), which is a pretty good amount. I tried Southpaw reaver ranger in Wardbands and I found it quite challenging to get sub 5-5.5k life.
Evasion characters can generally have less life because they generally get hit far less.
Armour characters have to survive all the hits of a pack, an evasion character only has to survive one. I've played plenty of evasion characters to 90+ and getting 5k life is enough for it. Evasion and 7k+ would be completely obscene.

When you do get hit it hurts, particulary on hard hitting mobs. Lightning Coil is pretty expensive on HC it's like 5+ exalts currently. I wouldn't feel comfortable playing an evasion melee character without a LC while Armour based character can get away using a astral plate even if you're a melee.

Want to restart a new char that is well rounded.
You can generally get a around 150%-160% life without much extra travel on the right side.
To get the remaining 40-50% you need to take 6-7 jewel sockets and good luck with that on the right side.
you need 180% before jewels optimally
this means that if you start ranger, youll need to dip into some duelist life, or if you are shadow, either some witch life or scion wheel. either way its more than doable
I didn't say it wasn't possible, I said you have to give up a lot. Life is stretched thin on that side. My ranger has all the life nodes from duelist to shadow and she only has 153% before jewels.. It'll only be 165% after I get the last 3 less efficient 4% nodes.
No other position in the tree has to travel so far to get high life totals. That is the point I am making, not that it wasn't possible if you wanted to thin out all your other points heavily for life.

thats the compromise of hc builds, no matter what side/defense choice they have
on sc 140-160% total may be acceptable if your dps can pull you past dangerous shit fast enough
Nigga I got 92 (beyond), 90 (bloodlines) in other leagues and currently 87 (HC tali) now with evasion acro builds with 160~% life and no LC's. These builds ARE hc viable.
These characters felt more than safe and were still alive when I stopped playing (I don't play that much which is why I cap out at around 90).
Two of those characters existed before "tier" maps but I was doing 78s (which were the max then) without hassle friend.
I've already done t10 maps on my new character though I haven't had the best map pool on that one to advance as of yet.
The thing with evasion characters is that i feel like they end up taking way less damage than armor ones.
With armor once you start getting hits you keep getting hit. With evasion you just get the occasional hit, while moving around.
Yeah or the ocassional one shot, thats the whole problem with it. With armor you're getting hit, but you can take the hit no matter what. With evasion you might just drop dead for taking that one hit.
Untill the woops happens, you get a hard hit with a crit. You'll get one shotted. Your build is build around that "99% I won't die" 1% is bound to happen eventually. Shit hits alot harder at T8 and up, no LC as evasion build is def not viable on higher tier maps. Even with LC you need also ToH in some cases to up your mitigation even further.
What if you get shit like 80% extra damage as lightning or fire damage or some other crazy damage mods? Do you chaos over it? With your builds you probably need to.
Also Armour characters are usually Scion or Marauder which have insane life usually around 7k or more taking damage is ok. Also alot of builds utilize Life Leech together with Life regen making the damage you take less significant and stack that together with block or spell block I could keep going.
All characters can eat a stars align insta rip/rolled the map too hard and get crit one shot.
There is NO character or build that is 100% safe from dying. All you have to do is understand the weakness of your build and play accordingly.

People keep talking about occasional one shots, and yet whenever im watching videos of one shots, its ussually 3-4 hits that instantly kill people which is 100% prevented by evasion.
I think there are like a handfull of things that can actually one shot you if you have 6k hp with maxed resists.
And the HURRR MUH ONE SHOTS. If you get one shot trough 5-6k hp you would need crazy ammounts of armour to survive, and guess what with like 15k armour getting hit for 6k hp, would mean that you still take like 4.5k dmg. And guess what, with armour that sets you up for a stun that lasts for a few seconds and the mob that hit you for 6k will kill you guaranteed because you cannot evade attacks.
Evasion is superior to armour especially since you have so many dmg reduction buffs in the game, and just thank god there are people like you who still fall for the armour meme because it keeps evasion gear cheaper.

Do you do BM maps with an aura bot? Do you do no regen with RF? No? Then you don't roll retarded stacked extra damage as evasion because you need to survive that one hit.

Funny thing, doing high monster crit maps on evasion might be a lot safer than with armour characters. As on super high evasion monsters basically cannot crit you.
Why not marauder hege crit ice crash? Hege is made for Ice Crash crit, I think it's alot better than goig sword unless you're going to buy some very expensive rare pure phys swords.

Its true, the thing is map drops feel like they come in bursts, you either get nothing or maybe 1 map in a full clear. Or you get showered in maps and get like 5+ maps in a map.

Anyways, I might be wrong but I feel like you don't know what you're doing. The itemization for a MF aurabot would be kinda hard since there are a few uniques you need to use for IIQ/IIR that don't have many ES, and getting good ES MF gear would be really expensive.
The CA build you linked first is definitely for solo. But really any build that is not extremely gear reliant can MF; just get the IIQ/IIR gear. A friend of mine did SWT and geared for MF early and had a flame totem linked with IIR and culling for example

I really dont know what i'm doing MF build wise, i have only ever played tornado shot, arc and discahrge mjölner.
So basicly i can slap the same IIR/IIQ gear on the CA and the aurabot build, but the difference is that the CA doesnt contribute much to the group except for the culling while the aurabot does but cant solo anything?
the problem with CA is that it's not a very party-friendly build because it's based on degen so even if you have very high damage the life modifier from party makes the mobs have much more life, which means you'll kill mobs much more slowly. In general, people who play CA play solo.
I think aurabots are much better if they focus on the aura aspect rather than trying to get MF gear on an aurabot.
If you want to do a party friendly culler, I would suggest going life based support curser: it's much less gear reliant, which means you can fit in more MF uniques and can support the party with both curses, auras, ele equilibrium and charges with conduit.

You would basically use a quill rain to curse and a defensive quiver with resists + life which you will need to cap ele resists. With the tree alone you'll have 2 curses (which you can apply with ice shot GMP CoH, which applies chilled grounds, but you'll need a 5l quill rain), you can get more with either doedre's rings or windscream (or a +1 to curses amulet, but they're rare and expensive) but I'm pretty sure you would rather fill those equipment slots with MF gear. I guess you could use something like greed's embrace for chest, sadima's or aurseize for gloves, goldwyrm for boots, perandus belt, and maybe a goldrims, well rolled ventor's or andvarius for rings, and a golden amulet with IIR. I'm not entirely sure how does MF gear itemization work. For the auras I'd run something like grace and an offensive one, and maybe clarity if you can fit it in. Apply EE with ice shot if your friends aren't doing cold damage, or use AoF instead if they aren't doing fire damage. If there isn't an element they aren't using, then drop EE. Generate charges with a frenzy setup, in fact you can also use it as your culling setup (frenzy GMP IIR culling) and get one or two vaal haste with inc duration

IMHO incinerate totems don't look as good as they did in 2.0, as incinerate was heavily nerfed, so I'd rather do a similar build but using flame totems instead. This build doesn't have huge clear speed, but it's pretty solid, cheap and not gear reliant, so you can fit in your MF uniques http://poeurl.com/vCZ, I made a new tree because the one from the guide was shit. The links would be something like flame totem - fire penetration - faster projectiles - controled destruction - faster casting - iron will. The only problem is getting enough dex to use a high level faster projectiles, since we're not grabbing any projectile speed from tree (it's on the opposite side of it). I would also use a wand with projectile speed, spell damage, added fire to spells and cast speed.
I'd personally level it with either cyclone and trying to get into the duelist area without spending many nodes or flame totem and getting into the templar area. You might need additional regret points though, the ones from the quests might not be enough
Evasion is naturall to be paired with acro because its just convinient if you are in that part of the tree.
You can just as easy pick up fortify on evasion as you can pick up endurance charges (at least the base 4).
Enfeeble is as just better on eva compared to armour, armour uses and requires it as well. I mean you have way more defensive options as evasion compared to armour.
oh yeah I forgot about those. Well, I assumed you were on a temp league so no IIQ gem. I am not sure what is the optimal option for MFing, if you're only going to cull rares, uniques and bosses I'd rather get a separate setup like flame totem - culling - IIR (- IIQ?), but if you want to use it on the main links I'd go for something like FT - IIR - firepen - faster proj - CD - (IIQ? or faster casting)

okay, I'd say it could be passable for a caster/elemental based build, but for a melee phys build it's quite bad.
The worst thing about elementalist is the 8% nodes surrounding it, you're just wasting points traveling through them

play around with ir and grace maybe evade is better or it's only needed for like vuln maps so you drop hoa or something. if you have the stats aa will be a good option to have as well

I played around with Soul Taker already, I forgot to include RT, but without RT crit chance was only 5%. The chance to freeze is noticeable from Elementatlist every now and then I break mobs into scraps of ice.
Because Soul Taker doesn't have that high phys damage. A good rare one-hander can reach way higher phys damage. Last night I was able to craft a pretty amazing flat phys DPS one-hander (i84 btw) with 360ish DPS after like 3k Alterations I was about to give up then bam!
The Blade Barier + Ambidex seems pretty standard like every dualwield build has it so I figured it's good enough. I'm not sure what other DPS increase i can get. I want to use a sword in main hand so i can utilize Whirling Blade, it kinda sucks playing a melee without Whirling Blades.
Only armour nodes I grabbed is Unyielding, isn't the -20% critical damage taken worth grabbing them? Even if i get rid of that cluster it frees up 3 points getting 2 endurance charges requires 4 points, but could settle for another endurance charge at the very least.
Starting either as Scion or Marauder so won't have as much evasion as a Ranger. Using stuff as Lightning Coil and Devoto's Devotion will greatly benefit from IR. Devotion alone will net a flat 1,1k armour for a helmet if I have IR.

It's a flat phys 1-hander not hybrid with elemental damage. They are pretty expensive I could sell it for atleast 5-6ex on THC. Even on standard pure phys sword is fairly expensive and there arent many that are around 400 DPS. Go look on standard league, I can't find a single pure phys sword that's above 360 dps and ranging in the 30-40 exalts. Lastly 3k alts is only 3 exalts.

I'm seeing a handful of 350+ pDPS 1h weapons at 8-10 ex, not 30+.
Yeah, pure phys swords are very expensive right now on THC as well as in the Standard permanent league. I haven't played a dual wield since awakening so I wouldn't know how much they were before.
Swords are more popular because you can Whirling Blades with Sword, Dagger, Claws but not with axes. There's lower demand for phys axes that's why the price for like a 350+ axe isn't as high as a sword.

yeah it's probably best. Why i considered mana flows is because it's just two points, mana regen is amazing and the +int is good. But essence sap might sustain my mana better. will get that after I socket my sweet ass jewel.

Eh, doesn't seem that much of a luxury considering you can buy a lot of corrupted lvl 20 gems for less than 10 chaos. Granted they are corrupted but it doesn't really matter if you're not going to try vaal'ing it yourself anyway.

i bought two jewels with double res, high area damage, high melee physand attack speed for 3c a piece. Great dps boost on both, and resitances I need. Rolling your owns and regal them is terrible, i used to do that before but it's super easy to search for good jewels on poetrade
people say LA is good and TS is ass now but ive no experience with either this league, however, ice shot is excellent and im running a voltaxic blast rain and it has pretty good clearing (currintly doing t6-t7s), and single target is better than any other bow skill ive used recently
With pure evasion gear and IR you can easily get double the armour than if you had pure armour gear.
A great armour chest has 1500+ armour while a good evasion chest can hit 2k+ easily.
adds an "adventure mode with crafting hub", an endgame, adds stat-based scaling to previously fixed damage skills, more hero monster, champion monsters, several endgame sets, etc
in general it improves the game

Hello, I was pointed to this game because I wanted to play a game with a poison/plague class theme.
I imagine Shadow or Witch would be what I would go for, but which one gives me more poisons and similar themes to work with?
shadow is probably more poison themed and it's probably the better option.
Right now, there are four main branches of poison characters:
-Essence drain + contagion: Essence drain is a projectile that applies a damage over time. If you apply contagion, the enemy spreads the essence drain effect on death. This build is cheap
-Fire to chaos conversion, with a dagger that makes your chaos damage poison. Some people even dual wield it with another dagger that makes the poison spread on enemy death. This is pretty expensive
-Lightning to chaos with a bow named voltaxic rift. With either a poison gem or snakebites, your chaos damage can both poison and shock. This is expensive as well but maybe not as much
-Physical poison: you use physical spells or attacks that poison. One of the most popular builds of this type is bladefall trap, which throws traps that deal massive damage and inflict poison, but there are also shit like using the dagger which spreads the poison and using a bear trap with massive single target damage which spreads and multiplies

>STR side of the tree gives Resolute Strikes so you don't need accuracy

you arent using rapid decay, you are low level (seeing how your blasphemy has small aoe and low life), 1h+shield isnt a searing touch, and we cant see your jewels but you may not have 50% totem on them
well I didn't get to develop it further, my investment was really low (I wasn't encouraged to buy even a searing touch which is cheap basically because I dropped the build really early), but the problem wasn't really it's damage the problem is that the enemies just move constantly so you have to recast it multiple times to finish a pack.
It wasn't really that bad, it was just not good. I played SWT earlier that league and it was much better.
I just expected it to perform well without much investment like old searing bond, and it did not

4 hours isnt going to be attainable for you until you just get used to leveling. There are a number of tells for zones that tell you what way to go. Youll also need to learn what is worth stopping to kill and exactly what each mob is capable of.
As far as gear goes id put Wanderlust/Goldrim/Tabula Rasa/Lifesprig/Night's Hold Talisman(R or B socket) on the shopping list.
If youre going to level an melee youll need a Limbsplit and a Geofris Baptism. Once you get to the mid 30s I would search for some decent rares of the weapon your build will be using.
For bows you just kinda pick a skill and put on a deaths harp.
That should be a basic overview, if you need more there are a million guides out there about leveling.

The main skill is CA, so pretty easy to try do dodge from hits and slams.
I never understood why people stopped taking Phase Acro. Its probably one of the strongest keystones in the game and youre already right next to it. It also helps smooth out the scariest type of damage for an evasion based character.

10 dodge and 30 spelldodge for 4 points is pure preference

What exactly are you using to counter Physical Spell Damage? Even after LC+ToH I still want these nodes, and before those items I consider them mandatory.
I just cant see anything beating 2.5% dodge and 7.5% Spell Dodge per point besides health, and there are only so many health nodes you can pick up in a build.
Does the -50 damage taken from animals really do anything? I accidentally 6-linked a Queen this league and it worked alright, its no Lightning Coil, but I didn't exactly have 20ex lying around for it.

Mings is the best choice there, but why Apeps Rage? Sure Bladefall has 120% effectiveness and scales well, but spell damage/spell crit is much much stronger especially since you can scale it with mings/hatred
I decided to play it non-crit after playing crit builds for years.
Apeps is actually outperforming an 80% spell 15% cast wand, and its hard to find anything better than that on THC right now.

Also, if you're not using BV, you should consider BV+CWDT+CoH+Poachers/Warlords Mark.

If you dropped Apeps for something else, you could probably lose the mana flask and run an Atziris flask which is arguably better for defense, damage/gameplay and utility (chaos res+leech).
Wands can also roll +added X onto spells so think about that.

Splash skills (like Infernal Blow/Glacial Hammer/Dual Strike etc) are all GOOD. Sweep is top tier, Frost Blades is pretty good. And Lightning Strike is currently pretty crazy.

yes, it's practically what you mentioned. Vaal spark linked with spell echo, faster projectiles, pierce, life leech and increased duration. You go LL because you need the damage from PA in order to actually clear shit. Then you use call of the brotherhood to convert 50% of lightning damage to cold in order to freeze and shatter, which generates extra souls with chill of corruption. Then you use two or three sacrificial harvests for more souls.
Basically, it's the fastest clearing build in the game but only for certain maps. It's the build that can clear dried lake faster so it's used to farm it. But it's also the build that can net the higher xp/hour in a party, in which you run maps that are basically linear corridors or stuff like that. I played vspark with a team and we ran gorges, arid lakes, canyons , volcanoes, dry peninsula, plateau and springs. The downside is that the vaalsparker itself is pretty fragile as it sacrifices defenses to maximize the clear speed and the fact that it doesn't work in anything higher than springs
I really want to run PtL with Lightning Strike but cant really make up my mind. I get that I could run Lightning Penetration and make good use of the multiplier. Would also make reflect and leech easier. But is it really worth it to blow two support slots for that?

an actual upclose melee build has too high risk of death because multistrike locks you in place for too long, so stuff like cannibals who all throw their projectiles at once is a high risk factor. you also risk potential stunlock unless you go for unwavering.

I did it with an Oro's (because I had a 5L one) so I just scaled all the wed/fire damage and ran anger. It was nice because all the fire damage/elemental damage went into also scaling the explosion.
But just doing an absolutely regular no gimmicks phys IB is perfectly fine. Scaling the explosion damage much is pretty irrelevant because you near kill most things with the splash anyway and the eplosion just finishes things off.

CoC builds don't use all one element and just use good spells for critting. And they all use physical spells now.
Vaal spark is not a single element, its 50/50 cold lightning.
Pure conversion builds that go fully into another penetrable element would still get an increase out of it, chaos conversion builds only don't run it because one doesn't exist.
